About me

Occupation Professor
Location Canton, Michigan
Introduction I am an Associate Professor of Law at the Ohio Northern University College of Law, Senior Fellow at the Russell Kirk Center, and Editor of the Political Science Reviewer. Among my books are Rethinking Rights (editor, with Ken Grasso), The American Republic: Primary Source, and The New Communitarians and the Crisis of Modern Liberalism. I write a good deal in the area of constitutional history, but a special focus of late has been the nature of rights and their grounding in the social nature of the human person. I live in a neotraditional neighborhood in Canton, Michigan with my wife (Gloria Antonia), daughter (Michaela Isabel, age 11), son (Augustine Burke, age 9) and Newfoundland (Wolfgang, a.k.a. The Great Slobbering Beast, age about 2).
Favorite Movies Blast from the Past, Highlander, My Blue Heaven, Return to Me
Favorite Music Jazz (fusion, bop, especially Gene Harris), Classical (especially Dvorak), pretentious overproduced art rock.
