About Me
My novel, The Unhewn Stone began in 1999, but was discarded for other stories until I visited the setting, Switzerland, in 2004 and realized my hero should be an innkeeper's son. So began the rewrite that would lead to its completion. I'm a wife, mother of two, grandmother of three and the granddaughter of two wonderful men:one was a storyteller, cartoonist and painter and the other an avid campaigner for human rights. My parents separated after I married and this still pains me even though they are gone. An only child, I bossed real and imaginary friends; I was a tomboy who climbed trees and swung across 'croc infested' rivers in chiffon and lace. I was the actress who played all the parts and this equipped me for my creative writing. I'm happiest when I'm on a roll. I sweat blood over new material until the gears engage. Then my characters pull me into the plot and we take off on the next phase of the grand adventure.
