Occupation fiber artist, musician
Location Stevens Point, WI, United States
Introduction I began learning about fiber art from my mother, who designed dresses for me and my sisters when we were children, who embellished my hand-sewn wedding dress with tiny pearls, whose designs now range from afghans inspired by Lake Superior to the coziest mittens you will ever wear. I watched my grandmother create works of art with strips of wool, overdying, sewing, remaking these pieces into sturdy, colorful, much-prized braided wool rugs. My dad has patiently taught me to notice and appreciate the natural world around me, to respect it, to recycle, upcycle, reuse as much as possible, to avoid poisonous chemicals, to create from what I have all around me. They have been, and continue to be inspirations to me, and exert their lively, colorful influences in my life and art.
