| Introduction | In 1973 ACityDiscount Restaurant Equipment opened its doors in Atlanta to sell used restaurant equipment to serve the foodservice industry. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's the business thrived selling used commercial kitchen equipment & restaurant furniture. In 1977 current CEO, John Stack, joined his father in the family-owned business. In 1999 the seeds for the current business strategy were sown. While successfully selling some used merchandise online, the company became aware of the untapped market for new foodservice equipment. Negotiating deals with some of the major foodservice equipment manufacturers, the company experimented with selling new appliances on eBay. The results were so successful, that in 2002 the walk-in retail operation was closed to focus on its eBay Store (ID: acitydiscount) & online presence.
