Introduction Les Lull’s work is about childhood curiosities and exploration. Finding a good tree to climb, a mud puddle to splash in, a pile of cast off antiquities or a wooded glen to explore….. His painting sparks the imagination of the viewer and initiates a flood of memories when curiosity was king. A quote by Thoreau seems to provide an adequate summation of the magnetism of trees. I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines. ~Henry David Thoreau Recent work has been purchased by the Sonoran Desert Museum for their permanent collection in their Vanishing Circles project. Les was asked to participate in this conservation effort through raising awareness with art. He has also been recognized by having work selected for the Top 100 in the national competition Paint the Parks. Just recently he had five works selected for the Top 100 and Mini 50 for Paint America in Topeka, Kansas. His paintings of the Grand Canyon will be on display at the Kolb Studio in the Grand Canyon in April of 2008.
