Introduction For me, games and gaming have become a topic and an aspect of our culture that reaches into almost every interesting topic I've encountered. Those who know me know that my vision for games is long and wide, stretching to the farthest horizons and beyond. Looking back from the year 2050, I believe that historians and cultural analysts will note the development of computer games and their integration into local and global cultures as one of the most important advances of the early 21st century. And now it is my belief in the study and practice of games as a lifelong, quality-enhancing pursuit that brings me here to explore the many dimensions of this vast and wonderful medium and the industry and academia surrounding their creation.
