It seems everyday is something new. I Learn something new or meet someone new. I've learned... that addicts,by the Capitol Building, go 2 by 2 into the port-a-potties to smoke crack. I've learned that Mexicans who want to come to America are brought over by drug dealers and have to work off their travel expenses by selling pot. I've -Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9929671.post-1131725040099425142005-11-11T08:58:00.000-07:002005-11-11T09:04:12.050-07:00From MattFrom Matt Wallace:Below is just a story and my thoughts from an event that happened last night:"Hello Officer Johnson, this is Captain Black. . . . Yeah, we've got a D.O.A. here by the river . . . . Yep, I'm sure he's dead. . . . some kid . . . . these ministers came and told me that there was a dead guy in the park. . . . . they led me down there, we searched through the bushes, and we found him-Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9929671.post-1131683665822443802005-11-10T21:28:00.000-07:002005-11-10T22:30:03.340-07:00Alone...Alone. No one around. By himself. Hidden. If it hadn't been for Matt and Robbie, he would have stayed that way.Tonight one of the street kids died alone, away from the eyes of those that think homeless teens are "throw aways". None of the people who wear expensive clothes and degrading looks will ever know this soul is gone. And if they did, would they care? He died in the bushes away from -Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9929671.post-1131486856822143132005-11-08T14:38:00.000-07:002005-11-08T15:37:22.240-07:00It's a Normal Thing To Do. It's a normal thing to do when you are in love...Get married. Two of our street kids got married yesterday. It looked like and sounded like any wedding you might go to. They got married in a warehouse looking drop in center for homeless youth and there where a couple of homeless teens sleeping on a couch nearby. Those are 2 ways it wasn't a "normal" wedding. It struck me that they were extremely-Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9929671.post-1130788393480179312005-10-31T12:37:00.000-07:002005-11-04T07:52:17.876-07:00Everyday Fun!Life has been trucking along for us. God has been blessing us in small and big ways. Max is doing great with his homeschool lessons. Zoe is, finally, on the verge of being potty trained. We're making friends at our new church home. And life on the streets is not filled with a ton of drama.Last Sunday at church was amazing! First of all, there were about twice as many people as usual...don't know -Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9929671.post-1127853016282032462005-09-27T12:42:00.000-07:002005-09-29T21:26:03.403-07:00Their StoriesI've caught myself not wanting to update because I haven't had anything profound to say. I've also been procrastinating because it seems like there is so much to tell. So I decided to just share some of the stories I'm picking up on as I learn to love these gutter punks, oogles, and "disposable" members of Denver. I've changed these kids names because I don't have their permission to share their -Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9929671.post-1124468348213863842005-08-19T08:31:00.000-07:002005-08-19T10:05:29.976-07:00That's Just Goofy! We are completely goofy as human beings...When I say "we" I mean "ME". With a whole summer of raising support, I was so ready to start, officially, on Monday. But because Matt's father had a stroke and Robbie was out of town getting some training, there was no one to start with. Matt didn't get into town until yesterday because they kept his father in the hospital longer than expected. So the summer is over. It went by quickly though. Probably the greatest part of the summer was getting to spend so much time with Niki and the kids. Although I am anxious to get started with full-time ministry again. I officially start on Monday. We are probably 90% ready to get started. I still need to do a little painting on the house and some other odds and ends work. We have about 90% of -Benny-http://www.blogger.com/profile/08889554537774241257noreply@blogger.com10
