The Last Post, always brings tears

This will be the last post for Nether Region of the Earth, the time has come to move on.

This was the first blog I created, it will not go away, it will always (given the existence of the net and blogspot) be here. The posts, the widgets and gimmicks, with the exception of a few that will go with me.

I have created a new blog on a new template to continue:

Life is Just Like That...

I want to thank all of you who have supported me, followed my postings, and especially thos 12 who Followed. I hope you will all come on over to "Life..." and continue the ride with me.

It will be the "son of blog". The new blog has more options, and there is a permanent link to my Nether Region, so all is not lost.

I invite all who pass these portals to visit me in my new home. It is still under construction, there is a Gallery, Movies & Music section as well as my Travels. There will eventually be more, but it all takes time and I want to do it right.

Once again, thank you all, this is the last post (Bugles playing sadly in the background in true military style).

We used to make this stuff at high school in the chemistry labs when the teacher wasn't looking.

NI3 we considered wonderful stuff, and used to send our English teacher home one afternoon with a nervous breakdown. The stairwell in A Block filled up with purple iodine vapour as she climbed the stairs... and we don't even celebrate Hallowe'en.

I have never claimed to be a "goody two-shoes," I was a boy in every sense of the word. If only my mother knew half, she would have had kittens.

Nitroglycerine is moderately easy to detonate, and a hammer is more than enough. Nitrogen triiodide will detonate if it is breathed on. It is an explosive with no use other than a novelty.

A few factoids - These products are DANGEROUS

Nitric acid, the acid shown in the beginning of the video, will cause very deep chemical burns that take weeks to heal after contact of just five seconds. It also fumes, and the vapor is very choking. The red gas in the flask is nitrogen dioxide, a very toxic gas that can produce, and be produced from, nitric acid. Sulfuric acid is also dangerous and very reactive to flesh, but is not close to the danger of nitric acid.

Why is it that young people have to go to extremes?

Not only Goths, Bikers, Dreadlocks, Piercings, Emos, etc; all these crazy fads are disturbing. I believe it is an indication of a sick society, very sick, and there appears to be no end; one fad finishes and another starts.

What's with it?

I got Phished!

As some of you know I recently joined Twitter. I am not sure why, but I make the occasional tweet in an effort to attract readership of my blogs. I haven't yet found any other real purpose for tweeting. And, having expressed that on Twitter, some other tweeters haven't either and are equally perplexed as to why they are there.

Anyway, a fellow blogger yesterday announced a site that guarantees followers... up to 400 per day. Now, the blogger concerned is a trustworthy sort, so i had no compunction in visiting and joining. The site http://tinyurl.... promised this and that and, of course, there was an upgrade of membership which cost seemed legit.

So I amassed about 150 tweeters to follow and watched. I got a few followers, not the 400 promised, but one cannot expect miracles.

As is my habit, I went to the bar to watch the news, and of course one can't sit in a bar beerless.

However on my return, my mailbox had a good number of emails from followers who were following and a couple of direct contacts and.... one from Twitter:

This will reset your password. Remember to choose a strong password that is a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Do not reuse your old password.

Now I have never been phished before, I have only a vague idea of what phishing is. This letter from Twitter gave me some concerns.

So I changed my password, and all seems well. But, I still can't stop wondering... Did that letter come from Twitter? It was all Twitterish. Or, did it come from the phishers wanting my changed password?

Time will tell. It just goes to show, that you can't be too careful.

I ran through my list of follows and deleted all that I had followed from the http://tinyurl's site in the afternoon, in the hope that my phisherman my disappear.

But the damage was done, I had been phished!

Be careful out there people, it's a dog eat dog world.

Oh, and this happened on Monday.... another reason to add to the list of why I hate Mondays.

It's Monday again?

Why does everyone hate Mondays? Monday is like any other day of the week, so there shouldn't be any reason to hate it any more than any other day... or is it?

Monday is the only morning of the week where you will find me at the stove cursing because the water for my first coffee isn't boiling yet...

...and then I discover that I forgot to light the gas.

Things like this just don't happen on other days of the week!
