An average car costs almost $1 million - I find it hard to believe that mass production is going to reduce that to less than $30,000 any time soon

I believe it will just take too long and be too expensive to make the hydrogen economy a reality quick enough.

That doesn't mean I don't think the world shouldn't strive for the hydrogen economy. It just means that I think that America desperately needs to end foreign oil dependency first and foremost.

Plug-in hybrids, diesel-powered hybrids, and other experimental hybrid vehicles can end foreign oil dependency much sooner at much cheaper costs.

Additionally, hybrid cars can provide much of the foundation for fuel cell vehicles.

Ultimately, are fuel cell vehicles even required for basic transportation?

I'm starting to think not. I think that fuel cells make great sense for more powerful applications, such as - as crazy as it sounds - flying cars, aircraft, spacecraft, etc. I'm just not convinced the are the best option for automobile transportation in the next couple of decades.Dahcredynshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17687525897516386077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9844581.post-1125023137718911322005-08-25T19:25:00.000-07:002005-08-25T19:25:00.000-07:00I've been orn between support of the hybrid and ju...I've been orn between support of the hybrid and just saying "let's go hydrogen".

Check out this article on the latest british bikes, http://www.associatedcontent.com/content.cfm?content_type=article&content_type_id=8900.
