Know why we are like this? One word: BUFFY!!!!!

I stopped the Crying of Lot 49 pretty quickly too. My reason was different: I had read too many late 60's classics plundered from my parent's bookshelves as a young teen, and now have incredible deja vu, whenever I read anything vaguely resembling "Been down so long it Looks like Up to Me" by Farina, or "Another Roadside Attraction" by Robbins, or "The Electric Koolaide Acid Test" by Wolfe or "Wild Boys" by I don't know who OR "The Illuminatus Trilogy" OR Vonnegut.
