It merely pleases the palette
with flavors from where it grew.
Good coffee transports your thoughts to its origin and connects you to
the memories of travel and desires of future adventures.

Good coffee energizes you with its taste, not its caffeine.

Brent Millerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13541738190645971484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9805950.post-33089505397881602792008-04-30T09:49:00.004-05:002008-04-30T10:19:24.570-05:00The FutureThe future of everything is integration.

The quest for a unified theory of everything is the best known example of why we could stagnate our understanding of everyday things.

The complexity of computers is just one problem that isn't treated correctly by those who don't understand it. In order for humans to continue to grow as a species, we'll have to overcome our limited views of the world and understand concepts from the smallest to largest levels.

Good luck to all of us.

Brent Millerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13541738190645971484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9805950.post-57937048836666301762008-04-25T19:13:00.002-05:002008-04-25T19:14:00.773-05:00Good Rickstab

Good Rickstab, originally uploaded by millerb.

Here's a good one. Singleton Time!Singleton:

In software engineering, the singleton pattern is a design pattern that is used to restrict instantiation of a class to one object. This is useful when exactly one object is needed to coordinate actions across the system. Sometimes it is generalized to systems that operate more efficiently when only one or a few objects exist. It is also considered an anti-pattern since it is often used as a euphemism for global variable.

If you've ever come across one of these in a software project, please read the superb Ars Technica thread about them right now. Even though we spent a busy 2.5 days in Paris, I felt like we stuck to our dense plan, but still went with the flow.

Comparing this to my 5.5 days spent in Jamaica, I felt more relaxed in Paris. Specifically, the walk, sit, walk cycle is what did it. I don't like walking all day and I don't like sitting/sunning all day.

I think this means my best vacations those that do interesting things, yet approach them leisurely. I'm not a beech guy and I'm not a mountain climber guy. I'm somewhere in between.

Brent Millerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13541738190645971484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9805950.post-87484168183839276462008-02-26T09:32:00.000-06:002008-12-08T16:11:56.671-06:00NWA World Business Class is Great

Brent Millerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13541738190645971484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9805950.post-68485049031318621162008-02-19T09:08:00.002-06:002008-02-19T09:10:58.420-06:00History Repeating ItselfBy 1901, Brazil had converted too much of its farm land to coffee production.
