I'm thrilled and honoured, as this magazine is a trailblazing independent alternative news magazine committed to building a socialist democratic society and support peace, equality, democracy, social justice, Aboriginal self-determination, and the protection of the environment in every issue.

Set your bookmarks to the new home of Luz: Girl of the Knowing on Transmission X starting October 29th! While you're there, be sure to check out the comic gems of Michael Cho's Papercut stories, Carl Kerschl's Charles Christopher and his forest friends, and the whole TX Comics gang.

The series will be starting from Day 1 so you can relive the dawning of Luz's peak oil consciousness as she slowly starts to prepare her neighbourhood for a self-sustaining future. In order to avoid repeating myself on two websites, I'll be removing all the episodes from this site except the current one for a little while so people can get used to the new location, and eventually this site will be retired in favour of the Transmission-X ensemble.

Welcome to LUZ: Girl of The Knowing

Presenting my first comic strip, in web form or otherwise!

LUZ was inspired by my first ever (self-published) comic book, SPOILED, a tale about the relationship between humankind and nature in relation to peak oil -- the end of the petroleum era. Unlike the comic book, this web strip will contain practical skills to learn for when fossil energy ends. Our heroine is Luz, a girl on a mission to gather "the knowing": knowledge and experience about sustainable survival for humans, specifically in urban centers. Occasionally we'll glimpse into Luz's musings about the human condition and our connection, or lack thereof, to the natural world.

I hope you enjoy this bi-weekly strip, while accumulating "the knowing" for yourself as the post-petroleum era approaches.
