I use a veriety of methods, including white noise. The white noise voices are the most difficult to hear. I have my own method I use most of the time, a method of supplying a randomly developed audio which the spirits use to form their voices. There are a number of better than white noise methods, another is called EVPmaker, it's on the web for free, and also generates a random "raw" audio, but all you need is a computer. Another method is to tune in foreign language station and record form across the room, announcing you're doing an EVP recording. On playback there should be numerous phrases, mostly personal, in your language.
