"That's All for Everyone" - Fleetwood Mac, Tusk (1979)
"Official Colourbox Theme Song" - Colourbox, Best of '82-'82 (2001)
"Let Forever Be" - Chemical Brothers, Surrender (1999)

She was 14 years old, and led a long and interesting life. She was an amazing Frisbee dog and long distance runner. She ran literally thousands of miles over the years, and walked miles of New York as she got older and had to slow down. Whether she was running at Town Lake or prancing down Park Avenue, she never failed to Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-32760322051905370832007-01-03T09:57:00.000-06:002007-01-03T10:02:40.306-06:00Some fascinating facts for Champagne lovers, from today's New York Times:
"Gérard Liger-Belair is a physicist at the University of Reims, where he trains a high-speed digital camera through a microscope onto glasses of wine from local cellars. His 2004 book, “Uncorked: The Science of Champagne,” revealed that most Champagne bubbles arise from something you might be tempted to scour from your Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-1167517492933946242006-12-30T16:17:00.000-06:002006-12-30T16:26:26.816-06:00Decided I should update my blog today since it's been - hmmm, ages - since my last post. Was tooling around wasting time on this Saturday afternoon and found several things that made me smile, thanks to a Manhattan User's Guide email from December 13: bacon wallets (a great gift for any guy) and the Motel Hell Blogspot, a great collection of postcards from classic dive hotels and travel spots.

Wednesday night we saw the stage version of Glengarry Glen Ross at the Royale Theatre. Liev Schrieber and Alan Alda were outstanding.
Thursday night was New Order at Hammerstein Ballroom. The "best of" set list included some Joy Division songs, as expected based on other recent shows and the energy was fantastic:

Zero 7 - "Destiny" = Simply beautiful, no matter how many times I hear it. On the wedding DJ 'must play' list...and free MP3 download at Amazon.com.
Bajo Fondo Tango Club - Grammy-winning tango + electronica - simply mah-ve-lous and not overplayed. Yet.

Before we moved we were up to 419.
If you have ever gotten one of these emails and been curious as to how you could start a similar "business," you should check out The 3rd Annual Nigerian EMail Conference. Regarding the company's refusal to work with middlemen, the founder said, "If you don't grow it, kill it or take it from the sea," he said, "we don't buy it from you."
As a FreshDirect fan, I'm glad to see the press, even though the writer didn't have as good an experience as we usually do. If you've never experienced this store, you are missing out! We're all quite relieved that they've worked out their differences - no one wanted to walk to work in freezing weather.

It's amazing how hard it can be to get this updated regularly, even when I'm online practically everyday.
So, what's going on in New York? Besides travel to Oslo and Malmo - and upcoming trips to Vermont and Boston - there's been pool at Slate, a bi-level nightclub/pool hall with regulation-size tables and a Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-75377382001-11-30T14:01:00.000-06:002001-11-30T14:01:31.046-06:00It's been so long since I updated this site that I hardly know where to begin. The good news: I land a new job, with great boss, great officemates, and a spectacular view from the 26th floor. The bad news: the view includes - included - the World Trade Center, and we had front row seats for the destruction on September 11. Since then, I haven't had much of an urge to write, although I did manage Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-50469942001-08-12T11:03:00.000-05:002001-08-12T11:03:22.050-05:00This morning I was flipping through the cable channels and came across Wings of Desire on IFC. What an amazing movie. I hadn't seen it in years, and I've been meaning to get it on DVD but haven't found it available in that format. I think it's one of Wim Wender's finest works. It's my favorite, at least, more so than Until the End of the World, although that film has an incredible soundtrack. Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-49074792001-08-04T12:47:00.000-05:002001-08-04T12:47:47.833-05:00Well...when I said new format, I didn't plan for it to take quite so long. It's been an interesting year, to put it mildly. But I'm back on track! That's the important thing. Without the track, you're wandering aimlessly. Without the track, you're bound to end up in strange places. Which can be fun, granted, and you can learn a lot that way, but it's usually not lit very well and you can't get Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-17299632000-12-21T08:48:00.000-06:002000-12-21T08:49:08.866-06:00It's almost the end of the year - time for cleaning out, clearing out and starting fresh. And what a year it's been. You name it, it happened. But enough about me - literally. I've decided to take a new approach for the new year, and part of that change includes a change to my site format and content.
So here's to the New Year. Cheers!Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-95101.post-8123712000-09-10T18:57:00.000-05:002000-09-10T18:57:42.390-05:00Driving in New York is best approached with the kind of reckless abandon and optimism one usually associates with bad relationships and ill-fated business ventures.
A few years ago, before I moved here, a friend of mine who was living in Boston drove to Manhattan and back on her own. That single act impressed me more than almost anything she'd done until then. At the time, of course, I had Tempyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04139782615342038546noreply@blogger.com
