El partido del sábado 14 de noviembre entre COSTA RICA y Uruguay es la última oportunidad que tienen ambos países para poder ir a la Copa Mundial de Sudáfrica 2010. Definitivamente todos los ticos queremos ganar este partido y emocionarnos una vez más. Los uruguayos históricamente han tenido gran éxito en lo que respecta a al fútbol. Sin embargo, esto no significa que sean invecibles. Ojalá que el sufrimiento que hemos sentido los ticos al prolongarse tanto la clasificación nos dé los frutos deseados. Si Uruguay se queda una vez más en el camino, como le sucedió con Australia, pues que eso vaya a la historia de su fútbol también.

Como educador y profesional en la enseñanza y certificación de la competencia lingüística en el idioma inglés, me corresponde mantenerme actualizado e informado sobre los estudios así como de los acuerdos tomados en políticas educativas sobre la enseñanza y evaluación de idiomas europeos.

El Marco común europeo de referencia nos proporciona una base común para la elaboración de programas de lenguas, orientaciones curriculares, exámenes, manuales, etc., en toda Europa y extensiva a países en donde se necesite la mediación lingüística a través de un idioma europeo. Describe de forma integradora lo que tienen que aprender a hacer los estudiantes de lenguas con el fin de utilizar una lengua para comunicarse, así como los conocimientos y destrezas que tienen que desarrollas pra poder actuar de manera eficaz. La descripción también comprende el contexto cultural que permiten comprobar el progreso de los alumnos en cada fase del aprendizaje y a lo large de su vida.

El Marco de referencia proporcionas a los administradores educativos, a los diseñadores de cursos, a los profesores, a los formadores de profesores, a las entidades examinadores, etc, los medios adecuados para que reflexionen sobre su propia práctica, con el fin de ubicar y coordinar sus esfuerzos y asegurar que éstos satisfagan las necesidades de sus alumnos.

Utilizando la enunciación del Simposio Intergubernamental celebrado en Rüschlikon (Suiza) en noviembre de 1991 a iniciativa del Gobierto Federal Suizo sobre "Transparencia y coherencia en la enseñanza de idiomas en Europa: objetivos, evaluación, certificación":

1. Es necesaria una intensificación del aprendizaje y la enseñanza de idiomas en los países miembros, en aras de una mayor movilidad, una comunicación internacional más eficaz combinada con el respeto por la identidad y la diversidad cultural, un mejor acceso a la información, una interacción personal más intensa, una mejora de las relaciones de trabajo y un entendimiento mutuo más profundo.

2. Para conseguir estos fines, es necesario que se fomente el aprendizaje de idiomas como una tarea a lo largo de toda la vida y que se facilite durante toda la escolaridad, desde la enseñanza preescolar hasta la educación de adultos.

3. Es deseable el desarrollo de un marco de referencia europeo para el aprendizaje de lenguas en todos los niveles, con el fin de:

Propiciar y faciliar la cooperación entre las instituciones educativas de distintos países.

Proporcionar una base sólida para el mutuo reconocimiento de certificados de lenguas.

Ayudar a los alumnos, a los profesores, a los diseñadores de cursos, a las instituciones examinadores y a los administradores educativos a situar y a coordinar sus esfuerzos.

6,6 Grados de Separación

6,6 grados de separación y las redes sociales

Según Eric Horvitz y Jure Leskovec, científicos de la Compañía Microsoft quienes llevaron a cabo un estudio, afirman que dos personas cualesquiera están conectadas entre sí por no más de 6,6 grados de separación. Seis grados de separación igualmente responde a una teoría, inicialmente propuesta en 1929 por el escritor húngaro Frigyes Karinthy y a la cual llamó Chains, que intentó probar que cualquier persona en la Tierra puede estar conectada a cualquier otra persona a través de una cadena de conocidos que tiene más de cinco intermediarios, conectado a ambas personas con sólo seis enlaces. Lo anterior nos hace pensar que solo son necesarias siete o incluso menos intermediarios para que una persona entre en contacto con cualquier otra persona del orbe como parte de una interconectividad aleatoria y altamente caótica. Es caótica y aleatoria porque cada amigo puede variar en cualquier instante según esté el mismo conectado a la red o no. Cada amigo/a representa un grado de separación, el amigo del amigo dos grados, y así sucesivamente Horvitz y Leskovec inclusive explican que aunque uno no conozca a Bush, al Papa, o a Madonna, es muy posible que alguno de los amigos de otros amigos, que forma parte de una cada de hasta siete personas, sí los conozcan. Lo anterior puede ser aplicado a personalidades así como a como a todas las personas indistintamente de su cultura o ubicación geográfica.

En 1969, Stanley Milgram, psicólogo graduado de la Universidad de Yale y Jeffrey Travers, alumno de postgrado de Milgram llevaron a cabo un estudio para probar la teoría de los seis grados de separación, y le solicitaron a 300 personas que vivían en Nebrasta, EE.UU. enviarles una carta a alquien de Boston, Massachusetts a través de algunas persona conocida de ellos. Cada persona pasó, en ese momento, por manos de una promedio de seis personas antes de llegar a su destinatario final. Los expertos de Microsoft, por su parte, analizaron 30,000 conversaciones hechas por 180 millones de usuarios a través de su servicio de mensajería y como éstas se cruzaban entre sí. Este estudio hizo validar la teoría de los seis grados de separación a través de una red social a escala planetaria habiendo establecido varios conceptos fundamentales. Por ejemplo, “conocer a una persona” significa que uno ha intercambiado con él o ella al menos un mensaje de texto por chat durante su vida.

Redes sociales
La creación de redes sociales de interconectividad mediada a través del ciberespacio representan una nueva cosmovisión, forma de auto-organización así como de nuevo hábitat humano y crecen exponencialmente con múltiples números de enlaces en la cadena. La base principal del éxito de estas redes sociales es un pequeño número de enlaces para que el conjunto de conocidos se convierta en una población humana entera y que se autoorganiza según sus intereses y necesidades emergentes. Las redes sociales mediadas a través de entornos cibernéticos permiten de forma sencilla establecer contactos incluso con personas muy ajenas a nuestra cotidianidad, cultura, país o calidad de vida. Cada vez que se acude a un amigo se establece y se activa un relación de interconectividad, logrando ingresar en una telaraña o tejido social entre individuos a escala planetaria sin limitaciones espaciales.

We humans have evolved into quite strange beings. Whatever happens in the future is unlikely to be any odder than what has already happened in the past. We differ from other animals in that we cook our food and wear clothes. Other unusual characteristics are a tendency to kill eath other, and a mild preference for making love face to face. But perhaps the most important distiguishing feature is human language. This extraordinary system allows us to communicate about anything whatsoever, whether it is present, absent, or even non-existent.

Nobody has ever encountered the bizarre delights of this fictional land. Yet we have no difficulty in understanding these lines written by the comic writer Spike Milligan. This is quite strange, compared with the communication systems of other animals, which are mostly confined to messages about everyday events, such as food, danger, mating and territorial fights.

Pensando en la ecología

Vivimos en un planeta repleto de seres vivos y formamos parte de una gran co-dependencia en medio de un caos organizado. Dependemos de otros seres vivos y sobre todo del planeta al que desafortunadamente le causamos daños irreparables constantemente. Es necesario cambiar nuestros hábitos de utilización de los recursos naturales y pensar en la conservación del planeta.

Es triste darnos cuenta que los habitantes de nuestro país van a las playas y lugares de veraneo y, al finalizar sus vacaciones en esos lugares, dejan detrás de sí basura y alteraciones a los diversos ecosistemas del lugar. Roban plantas, cortan las flores e inclusive se llevan las iguanas y aves exóticas que encuentran. ¿Cuándo y de qué forma será que tomaremos conciencia de los daños que le estamos causando a la ecología?

La capacitación y crecimiento personal son vitales para asegurar el éxito profesional y personal. Ante todo, lo más importante es tener un deseo genuino y gran disponibilidad para asistir a sesiones de profesionalización.

Actualmente me encuentro en una capacitación con una experta de la India llamada Shanthi Malayath con quien estamos aprendiendo aspectos y enfoques sumamente importantes respecto de los procesos de capacitación y entrenamiento de personal en compañías internacionales. Es realmente interesante entrar en contacto con personas de diversas culturas e ideologías, todas con un objetivo en común: la comprensión mútua y la profesionalización de la prestación de servicio al cliente a nivel global.

La Autoorganización, Interconectividad y Sostenibilidad de la Información en los Medios Digitales

Todas las sociedades del mundo se enfrentan día tras día a enormes y diversos grados y magnitudes de problemas relacionados con la desigualdad de género. La educación, como herramienta para mediar los procesos de transformación y eventualmente de cambio, debe ser utilizada funcionalmente para combatir estas desigualdades por el bien de todos los habitantes del planeta.

“Lo sorprendente no es que haya tantos problemas, tanta tragedia social y personal, que con tanta frecuencia desarrollemos relaciones disfuncionales provocando dolor a nosotros mismos y a otros. Dada la carga de distorsiones, desinformaciones, condicionamientos negativos y la simple tontera con que hemos vivido durante tanto tiempo, lo sorprendente es haber logrado funcionar.” -Eisle

Claramente somos víctimas, testigos e inclusive cómplices de la situación de desventaja que, en muchos casos se ha consolidado y/o institucionalizado donde las mujeres, en comparación con los hombres, sufren directamente respecto de accesos a bienes y servicios sociales que determinan su calidad de vida y las de sus progenitores, en especial la de sus hijas.

Las mujeres han sido y continúan padeciendo diversos tipos de discriminación de índole legal, educacional, cultural, política y económica. Todo forma un conjunto de opresión que, en muchas ocasiones, imposibilita un enfrentamiento objetivo que conduzca a una superación parcial de tales condiciones sociales de discriminación.

En el libro Nuevos Caminos Hacia el Empoderamiento y el Amor Eisle afirma que “es posible crear un futuro más equilibrado y menos insano – donde la violencia y la dominación, junto con la disfunción sexual y espiritual, dejen de considerarse “sólo la forma como son las cosas”. Y es precisamente a “estas cosas” a las que nos hemos acostumbrado a vivir y que, conscientemente o no, seguimos perpetuando en nuestro diario vivir.”
Para lograr el cometido del que habla Eisle, es importante resaltar que aquellos países que aseguran espacios para que las mujeres progresen, son más exitosos en la forma de abordar los problemas de desigualdad de género tan difundo en las sociedades del mundo. No obstante, es contradictorio reconocer el hecho que la mayoría de los niños y niñas del mundo reciben la educación directamente de una y varias mujeres, sea esta su madre o bien su maestra en la escuela y, a pesar de esto, pareciera que recibieron una educación caracterizada por la exclusión y el menosprecio de género o caracterizada por un pensamiento terriblemente favorable a los hombres y enajenador de las mujeres.
El camino hacia políticas y estrategias y decisiones de inversión en educación con equidad de género
La equidad de género en la educación es impostergable si deseamos cumplir con objetivos que van más allá de la importancia que los mismos tengan respecto del desarrollo humano. Estamos hablando de derechos humanos básicos que empiezan desde el hogar y deberían prolongarse a través de toda la vida por medio de la educación formativa y la información en los medios de prensa. Es preciso asegurar que la utilización y de la difusión de la información a través de cualquier medio masivo, especialmente los tecnológicos, asegure la promoción de la equidad y no perpetuar las desigualdades o la utilización de la mujer con objetivos discriminatorios.
Autoorganización, interconectividad y sostenibilidad en género
La verdadera educación caracterizada por la paridad y equidad de género debe contemplar igualmente la triada de autoorganización entre hombres y mujeres, la interconectividad sin opresión y la sostenibilidad equitativa entre géneros para asegurar que cada sociedad, por más diversas que estas sean, fomenten y fortalezcan todo tipo de acceso y calidad de vida tanto para hombres como para mujeres con indicadores claros de mejoramiento continuo.
Los indicadores de la calidad de educación deberían mostrar una alta participación femenina. Lo anterior es un gran reto para los países en desarrollo donde la mujer ha sido y sigue tradicionalmente relegada a las labores del hogar y a la crianza de los niños sin poder tener acceso a la educación y, en muchos caso, sin tener derechos sobre su propia sexualidad y libertad de expresión. Hay miles de ejemplos de polarización y discriminación en todos los niveles.
El historiador de la cultura Bram Dijkstra dice en su libro Idols of Perversity que: “La ciencia les demostró que la desigualdad entre hombres y mujeres, como entre razas, era una simple e inexorable ley de la naturaleza.” De modo que, apunta Eisler, “cuando aumentó la resistencia de las mujeres al esfuerzo de los hombres por enseñarles –en nombre del progreso y la evolución- cómo debían comportarse dentro de la posición asignada en la civilización, la campaña cultural de los hombres para educar su pareja, frustrada por el rechazo ‘inherentemente perverso’ de las mujeres a someterse, terminó en… una intensa guerra en gran medida en el campo de batalla de las palabras e imágenes.”
La escolaridad de la madre Monja doméstica y vampiresa sexual La escolaridad de la madre juega un papel sumamente importante en la educación de sus hij@s. Sin embargo, es muchísimo más importante la forma en que ella eduque a sus hijos e hijas porque será esto lo que determine en gran parte la forma en que sus hijos se comportarán en la sociedad. Muchas madres crían a sus hijos/as bajo una mentalidad polarizada y opresora que favorece directa y constantemente al barón. Se les enseña a los niños desde sus primeras etapas de vida a segregar a las niñas y verlas como objetos utilizables para las labores de limpieza, servicios y placer. Cuando esto sucede los ciclos de discriminación se tornan horriblemente difíciles de romper y se caracterizan por la ignorancia , la pobreza y la violentación en contra de las mujeres. La opresión que nace en el seno del hogar puede definirse como una relación de sometimiento por razones culturales, raciales o sexuales. Se refiere igualmente al uso de las desigualdades en función de poner en desventaja a un grupo social determinado.
El educador con visión integradora La educación con equidad de género empieza desde el hogar y no se debe relegar esta obligación exclusivamente al educador. Los educadores también están en obligación de asegurar que absolutamente cada espacio sea aprovechado por cada niña o niño, muchacho o muchacha, señor o señora dentro de su ambiente o entorno educativo. Desafortunadamente hay espacios educativos donde es claro evidenciar el desequilibrio existente entre el trato y desempeño hacia y entre los géneros, siendo en muchos casos las mujeres quienes fomentan tales diferencias. La equidad de género en la educación es impostergable si deseamos cumplir con los objetivos propuestos con visión de libertad plena y salud física, mental y emocional.

LA TRILOGÍA DE LA VIDA

La vida se nos presenta en diversas formas y conceptos nuevos y diversos que están vinculados entre sí por razones insólitas pero que siempre responden a la "perfección" de la trama de la vida.

Durante los últimos dos años he estado llevando a cabo un estudio dirigido a una mejor comprensión de la vida y de todo cuanto nos rodea a partir de lo que he llamado LA TRILOGÍA DE LA VIDA.

La Trilogía de la Vida tiene que ver con la AUTOORGANIZACIÓN, LA INTERCONECTIVIDAD Y LA SOSTENIBILIDAD DE LA INFORMACIÓN.

Vivimos abrumados de tanta información en su mayoría mediada a través de herramientas digitales como los teléfonos celular y la red de Internet. Después de todo quien posea la información por ende posee el poder. Claro está entónces que todos queremos ser parte de los que manejan información.

La Autoorganización es primordial para lograr interconexión con los demás. Por razones extrañas los seres humanos necesitamos experiencias caóticas para lograr autoorganizarnos. En este sentido las leyes del caos nos favorecen para lograr una mejor comprensión de la vida.

Change is part of life's natural evolution and dependency. We all seem to depend on daily events and happenings to be able to better understand our real purpose(s) in life.Transition and change go hand in hand as both present themselves in life one after the other in coexistence.

Furthermore, being open to transition and change might turn out to be both disturbing and rewarding and even chaotic since many of us naturally fear losing authority and stability when presented with a new challenge.

In order for a person to succeed in what s/he endeavors to do, firstly there ought to be a feeling, an authentic feeling of openness and conviction to standing our ground before transition and change. After all, the stage that comes afterwards could and should ideally be that what we have envisioned as our ultimate goal.Facing transition and changes in life conducive to a positive outcome is possible provided we have clear goals to reach.

As part of the reading material in the Doctorate Program on Pedagogical Mediation at Universidad De La Salle that I've been undertaking for over the past two years, I have luckily been assigned to read a book titled SEVEN LIFE LESSONS OF CHAOS by John Briggs and David Peat. This book has created deep changes in my life with so much insight into understanding the world of chaos.

LESSON 1

Lesson 1—Being Creative:
Lessons of the Vortex 1. The first lesson highlights the nature of creativity. Chaos is nature's creativity and each of us are creative beings. Creativity is not limited to few “gifted” individuals but is inherit within all of us. Nature is chaotic but within the chaos, systems of self-organization form to create ordered vortexes. This self-organization occurs when a random fluctuation becomes amplified by creating a feedback loop that links with other feedback loops until an ordered system emerges. This is the bifurcation point—the moment when the feedback loops interconnect and transformation occurs. There are two types of feedback called negative feedback and positive feedback. Negative feedback damps and regulates activity while positive feedback amplifies activity. Society is a system of organization that sets the conditions for behavior within the system. Society creates the illusion that the system encompasses all-that-is and it should dictate the roles to be played out by individuals in order for the system to function properly. This is a negative feedback loop that holds everyone in check, so to speak. Some negative feedback loops are necessary in order to allow society to run smoothly, but it is also very limiting when we come to believe that is all there truly is. New discoveries and change come about through the positive feedback loops of creativity. When individuals descent form the confines of negative feedback and open up the creative flows of the larger whole, they initiate positive feedback loops that amplify activity towards change. This opening up to the creative flow of nature occurs when we look at the world around us from different perspectives. These new perspectives help us to escape from the confines of ordered society and put us in touch with the truth of the moment.

2. The authors give several examples of creativity and chaos at work in nature, as well as in society. The first piece of evidence presented is a model of thermodynamics. When water is heated, the hot water at the bottom of the pan rises and the cooler water at the top sinks to the bottom. The rising and falling create chaos within the pan until feedback loops form and interconnect with other feedback loops until stable hexagonal cells form a honeycomb-like pattern. Another piece of evidence can be seen in the behavior of a flock of birds. As they take off, chaos ensues as they jockey for position. They are driven by the desire to be part of the group while simultaneously trying to avoid collision. This causes a feedback loop of attraction and repulsion. The result is a transformation into a flock that appears to be a single organism. Weather patterns self-organize into hurricanes and interstellar gases self-organize into galexies and star systems. Human society is also a self-organized system. The authors refer to certain human behaviors as evidence. Our obsession with control and power, the desire to remain within comfort zones, the pursuit of repetitive actions and pleasures, and restricting ourselves to what others think of us are just a few examples of self-organization. When we let go of these restrictions and get in touch with creativity, we become aware of new perspectives and larger degrees of freedom that can eventually lead to a bifurcation point and transformation into a new self-organized system.

3. This lesson is helpful in understanding that creativity is not limited to only a few and that I am a creative being. It also helps me to understand that the systems of organization in my life are not as rigid as the appear. All I need to do in order to break free of a restrictive pattern is to get in touch with my own creativity. When confronted with challenges and frustrating repetition, I can look for a new perspective and gain a deeper understanding and ultimate truth of the moment. I can use this lesson to help me to quit smoking. By realizing this it is a mechanical habit that keeps me locked in the pattern, I can learn to let go and reach out to the creative powers of chaos for inspiration and change. I can change my perspective to see that being a smoker is only a persona and that it is not a part of my true self. I can use this new perspective to change my habitual behavior, and with creativity, set in motion a positive feedback loop that will amplify to a bifurcation point, allowing me to transform into a nonsmoker.

DINERGETIC THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS

Our brains are absolutely marvelous and chaotically self-organized. Without such rather organized and sustainable chaos, we would be horribly driven by mechanics and linear structures that would perhaps complicate our very existence even more.

As complex as each one of us is, with so many differences and fixations, we have come to a turning point where we can no longer continue fighting against each other to make evident our differences and thereby "uniqueness" for the sake of survival no matter the consequences.I have been recently presented with a new concept, a new word which is intended to harmonize our differences and turn them into holistic strengths. That word and concept is dinergy as a way to make odds meet and blend into a harmonious symbiosis of coexistence.

According to György Doczi "the trace of dinergy, that creating energy of the process of harmonious descrepancies, allowing for differences to complement mutually."Dinergy should be incorporated into practically all aspects of this chaotic life which cannot seem to find its way to self-organization. In the midst of this daily unhealthy chaos many human beings are being systematically lessened and destroyed. Not to mention the natural resources which are being exterminated, leading the planet to devastation in clear lack of dinergetic thinkina and acting in all manifestations of life.

By manifestations I mean social, spiritual, intellectual, political and even sexual expressions of our deepest urges and orientations.This article has initially been intended to cause us to experience that sudden spark of dinergy and begin to understand and accept differences as part of life's scheme and avoid restorting to violent clashes between people from different walks of life.

Un joven argentino llamado Ezequiel Galott de solo 20 años, ha venido trabajando desde hace sólo seis meses en un proyecto, versión inédita de "La Reina de la Plata" en tres dimensiones (3D) que se puede recorrer de punta a punta con el cartografía global de Google Earth.

El miércoles 7 de junio vi una entrevista con Ezequiel en CNN en Español sobre su proyecto y realmente quedé impresionado por su profesionalismo y sobre todo por su gran pasión por lograr las metas propuestas. Además quiero felicitarlo por su gran aporte a la visualización de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires con sus calles y edificios en tercera dimensión. En la nota, Ezequiel comentó que "las cosas se deben hacer con amor y dedicación y no darle importancia a aquellos que nos tratan de disuadir en hacer lo que realmente queremos hacer por más novedoso que esto sea."

Las artes son la más bella conjugación y recopilación de las manifestaciones, del intelecto y de las procreaciones sociales, biológicas, científicas y espirituales del ser humano y de su existencia así como de su dependencia dentro del hábitat en nuestro planeta.

Las diversas expresiones de arte responden al producto y al potencial intrínseco de los seres humanos y de la naturaleza en todas las épocas y culturas donde, concientes o no, de su derecho a estar en una constante búsqueda de su propia identidad y a expresar, desde el momento del nacimiento hasta la muerte, la necesidad de estar en relación constante y directa consigo mismo/as, con sus congéneres, con su entorno y con el cosmos a través de “ecuaciones diferenciales.”

Según Wagensberg, las ecuaciones diferenciales contemplan posiciones, velocidades, concentraciones de sustancias, temperatura, distribuciones de masa, de carga, de tiempo y de espacio. Al relacionar lo anterior con una nueva forma de conceptualizar el significado del arte, me doy cuenta del principio de conservación implícito en dichas “ecuaciones” y de las magnitudes de libertad y/o prohibición para dar paso a la creatividad y a una riquísima explosión artística sin limitaciones.

LA PROHIBICIÓN Y LA CREATIVIDAD
El arte y la creatividad son el resultado de los límites de la prohibición como parte del funcionamiento de la realidad imperante según el pensamiento asertivo, racional, analítico, reduccionista y lineal, característico de la mentalidad occidental bajo el paradigma cartesiano. Para Fritjof Capra, el arte proviene del pensamiento integrativo.

Mónica Cosachov advierte que prefiere exponer y comunicar sus conocimientos, “viajando” de una forma libre, desestructurada y no ortodoxa, posiblemente dando paso a la superficialidad con el objetivo de ejercer su derecho a expresarse con libertad y creatividad.

“Se puede ser feliz en un mundo de prohibiciones. La prohibición es un buen estímulo para la creatividad human. Un mundo de obligaciones, por el contrario, deja a nuestro cerebro sin trabajo. The 2nd Affair
A middle-aged couple had two beautiful daughtersbut always talked about having a son. They decided to try one last time for the son they always wanted. The wife got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby boy. The joyful father rushed to the nursery to see his new son. He was horrified at the ugliest child he had ever seen.He told his wife: "There's no way I can be the father of this baby. Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered! Have you been fooling around behind my back?" The wife smiled sweetly and replied: "Not this time!"

The 3rd Affair
A mortician was working late one night. He examined the body of Mr. Schwartz about to be cremated and made a startling discovery. Schwartz had the largest private part he had ever seen! "I'm sorry Mr. Schwartz," the mortician commented, "I can't allow you to be cremated with such an impressive private part. It must be saved for posterity." So, he removed it, stuffed it into his briefcase, and took it home. "I have something to show you won't believe," he said to his wife, opening his briefcase. "My God!" the wife exclaimed, "Schwartz is dead!"

The 4th Affair
A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband opening the front door. "Hurry," she said, "stand in the corner." She rubbed baby oil all over him, then dusted him with talcum powder. "Don't move until I tell you," she said, " pretend you're a statue." "What's this?" the husband inquired as he entered the room. "Oh it's a statue," she replied, "the Smiths bought one and I liked it so I got one for us, too." No more was said, not even when they went to bed. Around 2 AM the husband got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a sandwich and a beer. "Here," he said to the statue, have this. I stood like that for two days at the Smiths and nobody offered me a damned thing."

The 5th Affair
A man walked into a café, went to the bar and ordered a beer. "Certainly, Sir , that'll be one cent." "One Cent?" the man exclaimed. He glanced at the menu and asked: "How much for a nice juicy steak and a bottle of wine?" "A nickel," the barman replied. "A nickel?" exclaimed the man. "Where's the guy who owns this place?" The bartender replied: "Upstairs, with my wife." The man asked: "What's he doing upstairs with your wife?" The bartender replied: "The same thing I'm doing to his business down here."

The 6th Affair
Jake was dying. His wife sat at the bedside. He looked up and said weakly: "I have something I must confess." "There's no need to, " his wife replied. "No," he insisted, "I want to die in peace. I slept with your sister, your best friend, her best friend, and your mother!" "I know," she replied, "now just rest and let the poison work."

Have you ever stopped to think whether you are technophilic or technophobic?

The answer to that question might take you aback to realize how important it is to be interconnected. Interconnectivity nowadays can make the difference between learning and/or getting something done in seconds as supposed to having to wait years and even decades to be able to get the results you wanted.

The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The invention of the telegraph, telephone, radio, and computer set the stage for this unprecedented integration of capabilities. The Internet is at once a world-wide broadcasting capability, a mechanism for information dissemination, and a medium for collaboration and interaction between individuals and their computers without regard for geographic location. Writing. Print. Television. These are the three great revolutionary developments in communication and cognition, each one ushering in a new level of human civilization. And now we are in the midst of another revolution in human communication, based on the development and spread of computers and the Internet.

Just as the development of the printing press 500 years ago dramatically expanded the information available to individuals and society, the development of the Internet is doing so today. With a single computer and a telephone line, a young child in a rural village can access more information today that was available by any means to the greatest scientists of the world a century ago.

The Internet is reshaping nearly all aspects of society. On-line advertising, marketing, and sales are growing at exponential rates and shaking up the world's financial markets. Many scholars in the developed countries are now wired for the Internet, inspiring grassroots efforts to reform education in order to take better advantage in the industrialized countries use the Internet to share ideas, conduct research, and collaborate in the production of knowledge. Music, media, politics, entertainment, name the field, and it is being transformed by the Internet. Nor are all these changes taking place in the wealthier countries. Many developing countries rightly view the Internet as a potential tool for leapfrogging to higher stages of information. Individuals, institutions, and governments in emerging economies are putting substantial resources into computers and the Internet, and the fastest growing computer markets in the world are in places like China and Egypt. It is only a matter of time before students in much of the world will have at least some access to the Internet and will need to use it for a wide range of personal and occupational reasons once they graduate.
