We are planning, be"H, to have an 80th birthday party for Willie Saffern in the Boulevard Alps, located at 71-61 159th Street, Kew Gardens Hills, on Wednesday evening, July 15, between 6:30 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. The entire Shul is invited. The directions to Boulevard Alps are as follows: Travel west on 73rd Avenue until Parsons Boulevard. Make a left onto Parsons Boulevard. One short block later, make a right onto 72nd Avenue. Boulevard Alps is halfway down the block on the left side, recessed in from the street. There usually is parking in the area. Estimated travel time from the Shul to Boulevard Alps is approximately two minutes.

Singles Shabbaton
Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills will be the host of a Shabbaton on Shabbos Parshiyos Matos/Mas'ei, July 17-19. The event will be run by Susie Garber and Anna Aronovich. The age rage is 25-35 (please adhere to this range). 11:00 am: Our long-time member, Dr. David Shatz, professor of philosophy at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women, will deliver the keynote address at YU’s 78th Commencement Ceremony at Madison Square Garden’s WaMu Theater in New York City on May 14 at 11 am. Dr. David Shatz, editor of The Torah u-Madda Journal and series editor of MeOtzar HoRav: Selected Essays of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, will receive the YU Presidential Medallion, the highest honor bestowed on a member of the faculty or administration for excellent service.

Monday, May 4:
The annual journal dinner is finally here (and will finally be over). It will take place this Monday evening, May 4, at the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills (70-11 150th Street). The dinner schedule is:
6:15 pm – Reception & Hors d’oeuvres
7:15 pm – Minchah
7:30 pm – Buffet Dinner
8:00 pm – Program
9:30 pm – Maariv
