Despite the goals of the absolutist sects of the Libertarian Party that would have drive the country in shambles before considering anything less an immediate stripping of all federal organizations and taxes there are some provisions both pragmatic and absolutists can agree on. Inauguration day put signatures in the works to get all mentions gay marriage, affirmative action, and the Partriot Act off of the books.

Eminent Domain

I have been through Killeen, Texas several times over the years as the city explodes with growth, a brand new airport, more retail sectors, and more and more roads. There was a small flea market that sat on the border of town, it had been in the same spot for many years. One year I return through the town as the building of a road has forced 1/4th of the building to be removed to accommodate the roads to lead to what is better for the lining of the government’s pockets instead of the small business on the corner. Think about the day your home or business might be the only thing between a city and an extra Wal-Mart.
Growing environmental concerns ever become prevalent in our society. With the protection of private property landowners with crops, fields of trees, rich vegetation, and so on are contributing to the health of the environment, by securing the rights of these people to hold property the government also protects the benefits given to that property by land untouched by industry.
As fiscal irresponsibility grows and the government needs more and more money to run eminent domain will constantly be abused.

It may not effect you today…yet everyone whom rights you don’t stand for is one less person to stand with you when they come for yours.

Why Libertarian Signs...

The idea occured to me on the way home today. It was like any other drive home when I my mind wandered to politics and a roadsign at the same time. I decided to try something a little different for a libertarian blog and have ideas for several posts, the first sign comes along with a story, some will and some will not. It is my goal to do about one sign a day. Though Dec 14th through early Febuary I will be in basic training and unable to post. If my reasons aren't clear enough it's almost 5 AM.
