Bar owner were very excited about this until they learned that the permit would cost $2500. Most stated that they wouldn't make enough to pay for the permit and other expenses to justify the cost of the permit. At least that's what I read in the Strib a few weeks ago. Waffling. Running has not been coming back like it should. Had some incidents that made me wonder if I could possibly have exercise induced asthma. And then I began to think about it. Wouldn't it be cool to have a magic thing that just makes you go better? So glad I'm not there. Yesterday we drove to Colorado. 26.2 miles per gallon. Still cheaper and less stressful than flying. Steven prefers to drive the entire way. I like that he prefers it. Lots of duck and geese families on the lake. I found myself wondering what the baby ducks made of all the noise, as a toddler 10 feet away wailed its terror and angst through the entire show. Could ducklings be much different than a terrified toddler? We saw lots of ducks leaving the scene as the fireworks commenced. It started last year when I fell out of shape and had to lecture myself, saying things like, "You know, this wouldn't be so hard if you weren't carrying so much extra around." And it only got worse as the fall season went on. My running ability seemed to atrophy. Now, I'm no speed demon, but I've run 2 half marathons in 10 minSaschahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14753671246115554231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9212618.post-27320082479130061402008-07-01T20:28:00.005-06:002008-07-01T20:46:29.420-06:00woh! Epiphany! It happened at swim practice tonight. I don't even know how to explain what I figured out. A week or so ago I experienced a smaller epiphany when I realized that I really have only been propelling myself with my shoulders and upper body, but not my core/lats. I felt much stronger and stabler in the water once I had that light bulb moment. And then I started swimming crooked of course. But Saschahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14753671246115554231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9212618.post-81333633451097274432008-06-16T13:16:00.003-06:002008-06-16T13:25:06.309-06:00Lunchtime swim treatIn an effort to get in two workouts in one day at two different facilities, I took some "late lunch" time this afternoon to visit the pool. I am thrilled to say that it was one of the better swims I've ever had. I did my 1600m swim today in about a minute less than I did my 1500 swim last week. I just felt really on and, for the first time, was able to increase my cadence without feeling like Saschahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14753671246115554231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9212618.post-19550483333515670512008-06-14T16:38:00.003-06:002008-06-14T19:32:09.446-06:00My day to be misunderstoodToday's ride was logistically challenging. Assignment: Ride four hours and transition to 30 minute run. As if riding into the wind to Watertown isn't punishment enough, I then had to run. But, for the record, I sucked it up and did it. This whole training thing is pretty challenging. This is the heaviest week I've had yet and I actually abandoned 3 workouts because of running out of time. I lifted weights for 40 minute and then did a 40 minute swim. At the end of the night as I was drying my hair before leaving, I noticed that I'd left my 2 inch dangly earrings in all night and felt like a complete dork. Might as well start walking around the gym with perfume on if I'm going to do that. In San Francisco for work. The view from the 25th floor of the hotel is pretty nice. The $300 room is pretty snug, but I like the window. Right on the edge of China Town and about a half mile from the office near the Bay Bridge. Ate lunch at the San Francisco Fish Company in the Ferry Bldg today and had the worst fish tacos of my life. It's what I like to do. I have a big, long rambling (boring) discussion of Hell Week that I started the other day on the plane to Michigan and will try to get it up sometime this week. But this weekend, I rode my bike. Twice. I know that's not really news. But it is kinda. So running and biking a lot aren't enough? I have to have a plan too? I'm afraid I'm mostly living plan-free these days. I tried to have a training plan over the winter and couldn't stick to it. I signed up for training peaks in January hoping that it would help me build something that looks like a plan. I'm not joking. Now, granted, I should know better than to visit the store on a Sunday, but I don't always have the luxury of going at 9:30 on a weeknigh, which is when I prefer to go.
