It is a great pleasure and privilege to host this special track on cut&mistake.

levon vincent is a great friend, an accomplished musician and incredible producer.
anyone with memories of the bunker days in sub-tonic will remember levon's Ovum release 'love technique' blasted by amazing sets from derek plaslaiko and spinoza. hearing those vocals almost swallowing the space and sound system is always an audio adventure.
Since then Levon has retreated from the mainstream music biz and gone independent, with the launch of his own imprint Novel Sound.
l have been so excited at any of the musical works in progress Levon has been sending me.
the first EP contains some of my favourite tracks of the year........I've bounced and rattled around manhattan and brooklyn to these monsters in a haze of deep listening.................
levon was kind enough to have the title track of NS-01 stream on this site
this is new york represented in waveform format!
NS-01 is available at Hardwax, Soul Jazz, Juno etc...also Downtown 304 in the states.

its a cross between laziness and the eternal difficulty of connecting the aural frequency band into type face

this mix features some astounding new tracks along with some older ones that keep the wheels of motion spiraling towards that dark exciting future of the unknown soundscapes while retaining the dignity, heritage and honesty of those artists who have evolved music to its current shape, here's a few words on some of the tracks:

moritz von oswald's ('basic channel' milestone fame) remix of sebbo's watamu beach is deep, luscious and a perfect start middle or end to whatever or wherever, released by martin buttrich and loco dice's 'desolat records' the label is definitely setting the standards for deep perfection

the mole has been around for a while now but this summer jam, baby you're the one, is the summer bomb, revolving, mutating, pulsing, bliss

australian ex-pat justine electra has a sound of her own and her refreshing tracks makes one dig deeper for diversity in this male dominated world of electronic music

samuel l session is a man to watch, his style is unique and theres something gripping and emotional about his work that's hard to pinpoint, this gorgeous remix of the equally awesome len faki is worth checking out

mark august is definitely on a hot streak, ]['ve had some of his tracks have been on heavy rotation for quite a few months now

thanks to deepmovements for tuning these ears into the gem that is moritz von oswald remix of germany's 2raumwohnung

i:cube at water taxi beach in queens on july 5th will not be missed, his tracks carry much soul and energy,,,,highly recommended exploring

justus kohncke's new album seems to have unfortunately come and gone from press focus in an instant, its a shame because he is a top dog approaching electronic and pop from an altogether different angle, incredibly talented artist who no doubt will be around for a long time as other stars fade and burn out

and wrapping it all up is the incredible, one of my favorite albums of the year, faust/nurse with wound collaboration,,,,,,,,discographys of these artists are audio monuments that are challenging both in their depth and range but also in their absolute quest for new musical territories,,,,,,highly recommended

first off ...... rewind ..... fast forward .......it's like, whatever .......push all the buttons at the same time

devo...... uncontrollable urge . is a classic in the classic sense of the word .... devolution in every way, shakes you to your socks. this track is from the 1978 album 'Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!' ..... co-founder member mark mothersbaug, member of the church of subgenius and a staple for children tv shows as well as throwing out wes anderson soundtracks is a wingnut and this song is a car crash waiting for friday nights paycheck. what the fuck is matt damon on the cover for?

the chap are fantastic and remind of the same rackus creativity as devo .... this time transplanted into some steam rolled british futurism. these guys make number ones in some wonderful faster moving parallel universe. their album 'ham' is equally as daft as it is brilliant.

beat that energy into an ambient chocker hold and its max richter from his brilliant 'the blue notebooks' album. evokes so much imagery and nostalgia with undeniable clarity, percision and honesty.

arve henriksen, also a member of one of the finest live improvisers supersilent (of norway), is an incredible trumpet player. to the point where he can make you laugh, faint or cry in the same ten minutes. this is a beautiful track of his sakuteiki album of 2001.

mike paradinas -µ-ziq - has one of the most the most distinctive composition styles of any yet still so varied. s always evolved and his planet-mu label is always turning something great over. this is 1997 and eons ahead of the game, where has this style of wonderful breaks gone to? lunatic harness is an undoubted master work.

the bones of the berlin cavernous basic channel fuse with jamaica, the ultimate homage of evolution, perfectly exucted 21st percision onto the captivating sounds of the carribean, globalisation we love you (and oil crops),,,,,,,,,,,, whip the bass up, time to air out that soul of yours

here's a spectrum of sound,,,,,,,,,,
from the 70s to the 80s to the current with a twist of yore

-köhncke is one of the kompakt stalwarts and should be a bigger name than he is. hes got eccentric style, sweet taste and knows his way around a mixing desk. his material is well worth delving into a german pop gem that shouldered in with the nuveau tech community

-what needs to be said about the egyptian lover? his freakness is such a pioneer of the evolution of electronic music its a shame he often gets forgotten about. he's back on the circuit again and ][ still pissed at missing his show earlier this year. the mood, the pace, the bass of this track is unmistakable. legend beyond legend, the spotlight has to return to this man sometime soon.

-kammerflimmer kollektief are one of the finest bands on the go today. forget about that overblown 8.4 rated group of muck savages post web reviewer blow job. these guys are solid. this track is taken from as equally a solid remix album. staubgold is an astonishing label, the depth of work is incredible if a little daunting.

-the twlight sad are newish to ][ ears, excellent album, unmistakably glasgow in feel. its ages since ive heard something this raw, straight forward and honest. makes you release the beauty in things that arent polished.

-been a huge fan of anything dose one related for years. cLOUDDEAD's ten is an all time fav. his encore appearance with the notwist a few years ago is one of the most memorable live performances ][ ever witnessed. the list goes on from themselves to solo stuff to the anticon back catalogue. this subtle stuff is awesome. ][ buy anything i can find, this track is from the last twist by these guys + dax pearson is an insane keyboardist who is back in action after being paralised during a tour bus crash back in 2005.

-neu! neuff said, check em out.

-this marc leclair album is beautiful. the guy has a wonder touch, a wonder sound. ][ put some akufen tracks up here before either as posts are in mixes. all brilliant.

-arthur russell died of aids back in the 80s. he's something of a new york legend. the scencerity, honesty and grit of his music is unparalleled. a cellist and producer of amazing avant disco. his back catalogue shines and will shine brighter as the years grow longer.

-been on the shitkatapult bandwagon since its inception. apparat is one of the finest german producers out there and his back catalogue grows by the year. this track is from an early'katapult release. cant wait for his new work with modeselektor = moderat. the let your love glow (featuring paul st. hilaire) was featured in the mother milk mix posted here in may.

-this kid khonner released this album when he was 18 a few years back. i really dont know what is happening to modern day youth. the government needs to intervene before its too late.
