Canceled MySpace

I canceled my MySpace account. There's really no reason to have it anymore. In case you were curious, here's what I told them on why I canceled it:

While MySpace certainly revolutionized social networking, it fell behind in terms of usability and design. The site has become clunky, slow and looks piecemealed together. The only thing that this site has become good for is hearing a few tracks from a band and then leaving, because if you accidentally friend a band, lord knows you'll get 1000 updates from them a day (pardon the hyperbole). While MySpace certainly was a leader in social networking, it quickly became an also-ran, trying to play catch-up to the features of Facebook. Instead of being revolutionary, it has become outdated. MySpace needs to find its priorities again, namely helping people connect with their friends and brands that they enjoy, and stop simply bombarding them with terrible ads.

If you follow my Twitter account (@scottdrummond), you'd know that for a couple of days I've been talking about an exciting announcement that I'm going to reveal today.

Well here it is.

As of today, I'm back in the business of making web comics. I'm very happy to announce that I'm going to be taking over the art duties over at the online strip The Drive In (http://thedriveinonline.com). The comic follows the employees of a drive in movie theater, as well as their alien manager, and a colorful cast of regulars. It's written by Tyler Saunders and Tucker Gilmore, and I think you're really going to enjoy it.

The Drive In updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is in full color. Just drag this link to your bookmarks bar and come back to visit. We'll be adding more content to the site soon as well, so be sure to check back for some fun wallpapers and other goodies.

Hey there! Sorry for the inconvenience (and horrid unprofessionalism), but the Dock Boys site went down this afternoon and there's nothing I can do to get it back up for a day or two. Yeah, so I haven't exactly been keeping up with this art blog, which is very much like me as far as putting things on the internet goes. Hence the title of my last post, "I suck at putting things on the internet." However, I have still been drawing, so I've got a smattering of pages from my sketchbook here that I've done, as per usual, during conference calls.

Also, right now I'm working on a pretty cool facebook app that I think could be a lot of fun. It should be done by the end of next week, so I'll do my damnedest to post about it. But you know me. That's not really my style.

Yeah, so here we go. We've started doing all staff meetings again, so I have more time to doodle during our Monday morning meetings. Anyways, I figured I would just start a sketch blog of all the shit that I draw during those meetings and occasionally during the week. Alright. Let's see how it goes.
