Taken in Xlendi, Gozo on 28th August 2004, it depicts a beautiful marine spot yet undiscovered by Maltese and tourists alike.

A jellyfish floating at the surface, some two metres away from where I stood to take the previous picture. Best picture I managed to take since it was constantly bobbing up and down and chasing small fish. Too bad the tentacles don't show.

Same jellyfish but with tentacles showing..

The picture which was the biggest hit with my friends on that Gozitan day. Somehow the act of freezing a moment in time just with the click of a button has always fascinated me. I started this hobby when I was still very young, say 8 or 9 years old. I remember the flash was actually a number of bulbs which sparked and then blew once the photo was taken. Oh, how I used to watch in awe and wonder as one by one those bulbs turned blue from white, never to be used again.

Times changed and my parents bought another camera. Then in my teens, I took ownership of that camera. *Click click* it went for every single occasion that we had, including school activities and outings. By the age of 14, the camera was my constant companion wherever I went and my interest switched from photographing events to photographing nature. *Click click* that landscape, that bird, that sunset, that shimmering sea... I was still young and I experimented as much as I could. Frustrations grew when my night photos came out blurred and my close-ups of flowers or whatever I managed to corner at that moment in time showed everything BUT what I had tried to get a close-up of. At that time I still didn't understand the meaning of ISO sensitivity and Macro..

Then came the time for another upgrade. A camera with zoom. Wooooooo... Then in my late teens, my camera was still my best friend. My dad had bought the Kyocera Yashica Zoommate 140 camera. Once again I took possession of it, snapping away at inanimate things or my pets.. and dishing out a hefty amount from my pockets just to pay for the developing. My Yashica served me well for 3 years or more until it died on me while at the top of Calypso Cave in Xaghra, Gozo on a scorching hot day..

silence for 1 minute as a sign of respect

I loved my camera and the months that followed were hell (but I had more money to spend on movies instead lol). Finally, I had the opportunity to get another camera of my own.. and I got it. Yet another upgrade, this time I got the Canon Powershot G5 digital camera. It's w o n d e r f u l. It's amazing and I so love it! The click click has begun once again but with the difference that it's relatively cost-free since it's digital.. and I can take as many pics as I want, and delete as I want.. Ok ok so you get the picture.

Anyway, as luck would have it, barely a couple months had passed from when I got my cammy, that yet another upgrade happened. This time the benefactory angels were my group of friends who bought me a fabulous tripod for my 22nd birthday, complete with a kit to hold all necessities in (including cables and batteries and lenses and stuff). I've tried the tripod out a couple of times and believe me, I can't wait until the day I can actually use it for a proper landscape shot.

I guess that is all the updating necessary for this blog. Hope you enjoy the pictures.. I like scenic photographs most so the majority of this blog will hold nature scenes mostly.. however do keep tuned for you never know what I might come up with!

Enjoy...
