I don't think I've made this clear enough.

Marketing is about emotion.

Effective marketing stirs the emotions.

This is so true that there is a recent strain of marketing that seeks to make people angry or disgusted. The philosophy is that at least they'll remember you.

Well, at least it's an emotion. But, of course, what you are really trying to do is stir positive emotions towards what you are trying to sell.

If you can do that, you can create response. Logic, rational arguments, facts, can support your marketing but they aren't the heart of it.

The old saying is you're selling the sizzle, not the steak.

This is true of all marketing, anywhere.

Headlines and Titles

The first words a person sees or hears in your ad, article, brochure, direct mail piece or web page are hugely important.

This is the point where you get the person's interest. Or not.

This is the second huge barrier you have to overcome to achieve effective marketing (the first is getting noticed at all). If you get the person's interest, they are going to read or listen to the next line. If you don't, they are gone.

You know this from your own experience. The average American is exposed to over 3,000 marketing messages per day. How many of them do you pay attention to? A handful at most I'm sure.

And which ones are they? The ones that say something to indicate this is or might be of interest or importance TO YOU.

Here are some types of headlines:

1. Benefit Headline -- “What's in it for me? What benefit or advantage will I get by responding to your ad?”

“Earn Extra Money At Home... In Your Spare Time”
“Reduce Fat”
“Protect Your Property”
“Get Better Gas Mileage”

Overall, benefit headlines are the best.

2. News Headline -- This gives news about a new product or announces a sale or the latest model, etc.

"At last! Our ‘2002 Models Are Here!"
"Announcing ... A Car Battery That Lasts A Lifetime!"
"New UFO Evidence! -- Abductees Take Their Case To Court"

3. Storytelling Headline -- This can intrigue people because it promises to lead them into a story. Stories are interesting.

“How I Went From Bankruptcy To Financial Security In Less Than Two Years.”

This headline also has an implied benefit: financial security.

4. Advice Headline -- The heading of this report is an advice headline. It gives tips or advice. Another example:

“7 Tips For Lowering Your Fuel Bill.”

(Also has a benefit).

5. Curiosity Headline --

“Do You Make These Mistakes With Your Employees?”

Curiosity article titles with numbers in them work especially well:

"Top 10 Ways To Increase Brain-Power."

6. Testimonial Headline -- These can be very powerful. They have the added credibility of a third-party endorsement.

“I earned $40,000 in six months using your wealth-building techniques!”

How do you learn to write headlines or opening lines? Study what others are doing. Also there are many books on the subject.

Be wary of older articles and books: This is the sort of thing that changes over time. Not 100%, as some things are timeless. But look at ads from the 1950's and you'll see what I mean.

Also this is very dependent on culture and language. A good headline in the U.S. might be a complete bust in Venezuela.

Try out different headlines and see what actually works for you. You might be amazed how even a one word change in a headline can improve your response.

Everyone wants to get rich online. The holy grail of the Internet is traffic. If you don't get a lot of visitors to your website, you aren't going to get rich off it.

It can be done. But you have to do it in a way that you can afford, and you have to do it in a way that pays for itself.

The least expensive and most effective ways to do it are usually:

1. "Organic" or "natural" SEO - optimization of your website so you get high search engine rankings.

2. Publicity that creates a buzz on your product, service or company that sends a wave of visitors to your site.

3. In many cases, "click ads" - sponsored links on search engines - are cost effective. And you can control exactly the amount you spend to suit your budget.

4. A lot of traffic can be generated by links and listings from other sites. Depending on what you do, this can be very important, and, links can improve your search engine rankings and bring you more traffic that way as well.

The premier use of most websites is as a sales tool.

In short, the FIRST use of the majority of websites is not as a lead generator. It is there to reinforce interest but to function as a sort of online catalog, gallery or brochure to assist Sales in closing a prospective buyer.

This immediately tells you what to put on a site: Everything you find yourself repeatedly telling or showing sales prospects.

If you do this you will automatically have an effective website. First of all, it will answer unasked questions from people you haven't even heard of - thereby increasing the likelihood they will call you.

Secondly, you'll save enormous amounts of time on the sales cycle because when they do talk to you, they'll already know a lot of the answers. And if not - if they haven't visited your site yet - you can send them to the site or walk them through the site as a part of the sales cycle.

URL - Your Website Address

We frequently get called on to help a client pick a URL or URLs for their website.

Here are the basics.

"URL" is short for "Uniform Resource Locator" which is a silly enough name. All it is, is your website's address. It is how computers all over the world can find your website.

A website address usually starts with "www" for world-wide web but these days you never have to type that. Your browser will fill it in automatically if needed.

It ends (after a ".") with 2, 3 or 4 letters which are the "TLD" or "Top Level Domain", such as ".com". Every country has its own TLD, like ".ca" for Canada. In addition, there are TLD's more oriented to what you do or are - most famously ".com" - for commercial, ".org" - for organization, and ".net" for Network.

There are no limitations on the use of .com, .org and .net. However, in most cases .com is your best choice because people in the U.S. usually assume that is what your website address ends in - and if you use something else, probably a lot of people are going to try to go to the wrong place.

Picking a URL

There are a few important rules for picking a URL:

1. It should be as short as possible.

2. It should be memorable.

3. It should NOT be a generic description of what you do. "Yahoo" or "Google" is better than "searchengine.com"

4. In almost all cases, ".com" is better than another TLD. Exceptions: Non-profit organizations (or businesses that want to look like one) should use ".org".

5. Don't use a variation on the URL you want because it isn't available. If "fredhouse.com" isn't available, don't use "fredhouse.net", "fred-house.com" or "myfredhouse.com". Why? You'll send traffic to the other site and confuse people.

6. In most cases, don't even bother trying to purchase the already-registered URL you want. The owner probably wants a ridiculous amount for it.

7. A good rule of thumb for any naming, not just URL: check and make sure it isn't easily distorted and made fun of. Names one sound different than an obscenity or something disgusting are a bad idea.

It's worthwhile spending a little time figuring this out. After all, you are going to live with that URL for a long time.

What's It Like To Be An Entrepreneur?

Being an Entrepreneur is tough but it has great rewards. Successful entrepreneurs call their own shots. They can make as much money as they want to. They can work as much or as little as they want to. They get to exercise their creativity. They can work alone or with a team. They get to create their future...They create a mindset when failure comes they only see it as a stepping stone to greatness while others would see it as an end to their dream. Sometimes certain people don't understand, but that is none of their business what you do and they just don't get it. They really do not get it.

Being an Entrepreneur is great. It's really great. But it's also got some challenges and a price tag. It's a small price in retrospect, but when you are paying for it, it can be overwhelming. Sometimes, in fact, many times, you question whether its worth it. Wondering whether you can pay the bills next month. Taking calculated risks knowing that things might not go in your favor. Risking bankruptcy. Losing some friendships. Some people never quite understand you and why you don't do what everyone does and get a job. Losing Sleep. Stressing out. Wondering.

"The biggest winners in life have also been the biggest failures at one point or another."

I have been called a loser, a failure, pathetic, etc by others who were just projecting their own current reality onto me(some very close to me), but I kept trying over & over again despite what these people said and that is why I now succeed with little effort.

It takes very special and rare qualities to succeed as an Entrepreneur. You do it even though you know many don't make it. But you do it anyway, because you want the freedom it can give you. You want to control your destiny. You want pride of ownership. You want to be recognized. You don't want to be told what to do. You want to make a difference and inspire people!

It is not the norm. It is not about doing one thing or the other, you can do both. That is why it is a hard thing to grasp for most people and that is why some mock you, people mock things they do not understand or things they are jealous of.

'JEALOUSY IS THE TRIBUTE MEDIOCRITY PAYS TO GENIUS'

Entrepreneurs are zealots. They are so bound by their passions that they often forget about the risks and simply go after what they desire. Sometimes this leads to greatness while other times it leads to utter failure. The common thread in either case is an unyielding desire to pursue what is important to them, regardless of the cost.

While this sounds like a fantastic and altruistic way to live, it's certainly not the most prudent way to build a career and a stable livelihood. A prudent path would be to work for a big, solid company providing a specific and structured path to success that more or less guarantees a large payout in the end.

Yet once that light bulb goes off inside an entrepreneur's head, nothing else matters. Prudent decisions and stable paths become absolutely secondary to pursuing the dream they've stumbled upon. That passion is not something that is taught in a classroom or encouraged by a guiding hand. It's something that every entrepreneur comes to on their own and it lies at the heart of every great company.

Entrepreneurs don't need to be told to be entrepreneurs.

Risking everything and becoming an entrepreneur isn't a vocation that's typically encouraged or even suggested. Your high school guidance counselor may suggest that you become a doctor or a lawyer, but rarely will you hear them suggest 'why don't you consider risking everything you have for a dream no one believes you will achieve?'

You won't hear entrepreneurs say 'I really wanted to take a stable job with a big company, but my parents insisted that I start my own company!' In fact, no one seems to ever tell entrepreneurs to become entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs become entrepreneurs because that's what they are wired to be.

That wiring doesn't come from an Ivy League education. It doesn't come from being born smarter than the baby in the next room. It doesn't come from being rich or even from being poor. It comes from a combination of life experiences, personal goals, and in many cases a personal challenge that is so meaningful to the entrepreneur that all other options seem irrelevant by comparison.

Entrepreneurs don't listen very well.

As we grow up, we're told that listening to what others tell us to do is critical. We need to be obedient to the forces of reason and power. Later in life we find ourselves passing the baton of submission from our parents to our bosses and sometimes to the world at large.

Entrepreneurs take every opportunity to throw that baton right out the window.

Frankly, entrepreneurs just don't listen that well. They don't listen to the people that tell them their boss has the best answer. They don't listen to the pundits that say their product will never find a customer. They don't listen to close friends and family members that tell them it's too risky to stake their own claim in this world.

That's what makes them great entrepreneurs...their ability to tune out all of the reason and advice that would otherwise steer someone into the employ of a previously successful entrepreneur. They learn that the answers to some of life's questions can only be answered by themselves, regardless of anyone else's experience or position.

Entrepreneurs aren't bred, they're born (they choose their lifestyle).

Countless hours have been spent analyzing what makes someone a great entrepreneur. Business schools have devoted entire degrees and curriculums to teaching entrepreneurship. Hundreds of books have been written about how to become an entrepreneur.

Yet none of these resources can transform the unwired into someone who miraculously embraces risk and struggle with unwavering passion simply because they read about it or were moved by a great speech.

The cold hard reality is that entrepreneurs aren't bred, they're born. You're either wired for it or you're not. It's just that simple.

What Is Integrity?

Integrity.

We always hear this word.

What does it mean to you?

I recently heard the meaning of this word, so here it is:

Honor Your Word. That is do what you said you would do by when you said you would do it. And, when you don't, clean it up, make new promises and keep them.

That's it.

Honor YOUR word.

Now we know what this means... I wonder why in the world individuals in call me and say, "Denmark... I want financial freedom!"
then I ask them "How soon are you wanting to be financial free?"
and the reply is "As soon as I can."

Then I come to find out they are unwilling to take the ACTION necessary to make change happen.

My only suggestion is HONOR YOUR WORD TO YOURSELF, not to me, not to your spouse, not to your kids.

YOU MUST FIRST HONOR YOUR WORD BEFORE HONORING YOUR WORD TO ANYONE ELSE.

Commit in Believing.

True Freedom and China

So check this out... I've got a profound new experience on this word called "freedom".

My lovely partner and I will be traveling to China for a month!

That's right... a whole entire month. No need for permission or "vacation request" (what a bunch of crap... are you really tied to that slaved-mentality called your job? Wake up!)

Freedom = What is it?

So... I've been thinking about this word "FREEDOM" and what it means.

I always heard it in the home based business industry.

When I was in college (sophomore year), a guy came up to me while I was ordering food and started a conversation. He mentioned how great I would be in a home based business, he continued to converse then he invited me to a presentation about the business. While I was listening to the guy presenting, he kept on talking about "freedom"... financial freedom to be precise... he was expressing how great it is to have freedom. I was like "DUH! Everyone wants that." Then all of a sudden, I started to connect the dots. I was like "freedom" does mean to converse with random people to try to convince them to join an opportunity. To make a long story short, it was an opportunity to join a Amway (an MLM business).

I look back at my experience and what I do now.

People come to my website REQUESTING information about a home based business. I NEVER harass people and try to pitch them on an opportunity. That's wasted energy.

I now travel anywhere I want and I'm still in business. That's freedom in a home based business. Does not matter where I am in this world of ours, I am in business using this simple home based business system. It's amazing.

Freedom to me means living life powerfully and living the life I love.

I will never have to answer to a boss. I get to move to another city just because I don't want to be in New York City for the winter.

TRUE FREEDOM from a home based business.

There are a lot of home based business opportunities. A lot of them are great, a lot of them suck.

I advice people to find a home based business system that will fit their lifestyle.

Now I wake up when I want, do what I want, eat what I want.

My First Blog Ever...

So...here I am sitting in the home office in my fiancé's apartment and I have made a decision to post my thoughts on life. For the first time in my life, I am now writing and sharing how and I feel with the world. For the longest time in my life, I was unable to fully express myself to anyone until I found out why by the help of personal development...I was fearful about being hurt by someone including my family and friends. For the longest time in my life, I allowed people to a certain extent and nothing more. When I finally realized this, I was able to transform my relationships with my family, my then-girlfriend-now-fiancé, friends, and anyone who I may cross paths with at any moment. I love being...being with people, being in love, and above all being one with all.

The intention of this blog is to share with you (the reader) my personal thoughts on life which will include a variety of topics: business, philosophy, sociology, architecture, money, home-based business, working at home, love, life, relationships, etc.

Feel free to comment at anytime to share your thoughts.

We all know that we want the EXACT same things in life...freedom, happiness, and wealth (in all five aspects of wealth -- relationally, financially, spiritually, physically, and intellectually).
