Elizabeth: The Golden Age is the 2007 film sequel to the film Elizabeth. It stars Cate Blanchett and is based on events during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England. Written by William Nicholson and Michael Hirst and produced by Working Title Films, The Golden Age is directed by Shekhar Kapur. The film has music composed by Craig Armstrong and A. R. Rahman.
It was filmed at Shepperton Studios and various locations around the United Kingdom with an estimated production budget of 50 to 60 million USD. Guy Hendrix Dyas was the production designer and the costumes were created by Alexandra Byrne.

This shoot 'em up has caused quite astir in the movie world, opinion is divided by film critics as you will see later in the post. There have also been a number of complaints in the UK about the advertisement being too violent. This is a quality DVDSCR given to us by COCAIN. Video quality is very good, with only a slight SCR blur in the bottom right hand corner, no extra cropping has taken place. There are a few Black and White screens, but other than that this is well worth a look.

The film follows Smith (Clive Owen), a down-and-out squatter with both an extensive military background and a fondness for carrots, who wants nothing more than to be left alone. Smith finds himself embroiled in a complex political conspiracy once he aids a pregnant woman who is being chased by a hitman. He takes the baby and goes on the run with a prostitute (Monica Bellucci). The unlikely family is trailed by the intelligent and ruthless Hertz (played by Paul Giamatti) and his army of thugs.

What do the critics say about this contreversial film:

Film critics' views on the film were sharply divided. Variety called the movie "violent and vile in equal measure," but "too stylistically audacious to dismiss outright."Hollywood Reporter was more equivocal in its review, saying "Anyone looking for subtlety, character development or layered plotting will be disappointed, but action fans will find plenty to amuse them with this film that makes Hard Boiled look restrained," and that the film is "all very silly, but also undeniably fun...."Peter Travers of Rolling Stone praised the film (giving it three stars out of four) and called Shoot 'Em Up a "wet dream for action junkies [that] leaves out logic and motivation...."Taking the opposite view, Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune gave the film one out of four stars, decrying the film's "jolly cruelt[y]," and calling the film "cruddy and vile" and "witless,"and A.O. Thanks to SATIVA we have this Limited DVDRip of Korean film In Between Days directed by So Yong Kim. Video is typical DVDRip quality with Dolby AC3 2.0 audio. The audio is Partially Korean and English. English subs for theforeign parts came hardcoded on the R1 DVD.

“In Between Days,” the sensitive, modest, thrillingly self-assured first feature by So Yong Kim, was one of the standouts of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival — exactly the kind of thoughtful, independent work one hopes to find there and too rarely does. Its theatrical release today is an encouraging sign that there is still room, even in the midst of the summer glut, for a small, serious, unpretentious film. The subject — a lonely young girl coming of age in a winter-bound North American city — may seem conventional, but Ms. Kim nimbly avoids both narrative and stylistic clichés. There is nothing melodramatic about “In Between Days,” apart from the quiet strain of intensified feeling that the main character, a Korean immigrant named Aimie (Jiseon Kim), brings to her own experience. You get the sense that if she did not allow herself small episodes of strong, disproportionate emotion, Aimie would vanish into adolescent ennui.

Rise of the Footsoldier Limited DVDSCR has been released by DoNE. The quality is average, with an intrusive timer running across the top of the screen. This is a British film directed by Julien Gilbey, depicting the true story of Carlton Leech (football hooligan, gang member etc...). Worth waiting for a better release.

Rise of the Footsoldier follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becoming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late eighties and early nineties. Due to the impending strike from the Writers Guild of America, production on the series has been halted immediatly by NBC, and the final episode of the "Generations" arc will serve as the season finale. This will upset the die hard fans and noobs alike!!
