Gerry, Johnny, and I decided to take a walk about tour of Manila
last Saturday along with Gerry's brother Noel who was kind
enough to show us a few choice spots of the old city.

I took a LOT of photos and I'm going to be posting them here as
well in my other blogs in the coming days. I hope you enjoy them.

any given time is the one with The Riddler on.

From the designs, I think it's obvious that I like comic books!

Rally!

I was walking home from a meeting when I chanced upon a rally in progress.

UNTV reporters interviewing one of the rally leaders.

The rally was conducted with limited fanfare as possible and in an
orderly fashion...which doesn't make it sound like a rally at all!

Apparently, the rallyists are farmers clamoring for the
redistribution of Land... the Arroyo's, to be more specific!

Most of them had shirts wrapped around their heads to protect their identities.

Looking back at the rallies I attended in my youth, there
doesn't seem to be any difference between then and now.

The Komikeros was invited to give a series of lectures at the Philippine
High School for the Arts (PHSA) yesterday, February 10, 2009.

We arrived about an hour early and what did we do? We cam-whored.

The red was certainly striking enough, sure to catch your attention.

I love the crudely written messages one finds on various surfaces.

"I will always love you until I die."

There's a name that comes after but it was scratched out.

"Hindi pa puwedeng sa Taiwan na lang. Bakit sa Canada pa?"

I wonder what kind of story is behind this one?

Some pics I took during the walk about in Quiapo. There's a
lot of urban decay evident everywhere you look but there's
a certain quality of beauty inherent in the the cityscape.

Not as sleek and modern as the buildings of Makati but I still find it charming.

One can find beauty everywhere if you look hard enough.

If there's one thing this place has, it's character.

San Pablo Cocofest!

Pictures from the 2009 San Pablo Cocofest!

One of the competing street dancers representing their school.

The effort and preparation definitely paid off for this group.

I'm not sure if they won but they certainly bowled me over!

It was a very colorful festival.

It was definitely worth the trip (about two hours away from Makati City sans traffic).

The overcast sky actually helped a lot in making the
colorful costumes the children were wearing pop-out!

The streets were also similarly decorated.

I'm thinking that the whole festival must've cost a fortune!

I for one, however, felt it was worth it.

One pleasant surprise was finding that Sol Aragones was hosting the
street dancing competition. We both studied DevCom at UPLB. I think
she even used my thesis as one of her references in her own research.

Trying to get to her amidst the mass of humanity watching the festival was
nigh impossible though. I'll just have to catch up with her some other day.

That's Sol Aragones of ABS-CBN onstage together with the various celebrity judges.

The party didn't end there however. As soon as night fell there were more
in store for everyone aside from drinking booze and getting smashed (which
we also did, of course). Take this body building competition for example...

You gotta admire these guys' tenacity...dresses in nothing
but bikini briefs on one of the coldest night of the year!

Got this from Jungzx.

Apparently it's a blog surfing website according to the information section. Sort of like channel surfing but for blogs.

If a blog surfer finds a blog that interests them they can stop and read it or bookmark it for future reading.

Condron.us provides bloggers with free exposure to large groups of potential readers by pulling recently updated blogs at random from wordpress and blogspot.

"It’s an interesting site that flips through recently updated WordPress and Blogger blogs in the same fashion that I flip through 200 cable channels. It displays a blog for a few seconds - just long enough to let you decide if it might be worth reading and then it flips on to the next blog."
