MAC Fast Response Eye Cream

MAC Fast Response Eye Cream that contains caffeine is supposed to de-puffs, erases the look of dark circles, firms, soothes and softens skin around the eye. It has an instant effects but only temporary fix for the skin around the eye area. I just bought this and it did a great job of making my eyes appear less puffy but not my dark circles. I get puffy eyes in the morning and within minutes of applying this cream, the swelling has disappeared and it does bring them back to life! I apply this eye cream after toner. Just a little pearl size drop is enough for both eyes. Sometimes, I mix it with my MAC Select Cover-Up concealer and blend together. It really helps the concealer look less cakey and the area stays soft all day. A great base for under-eye concealer with its smooth texture and silky finish! It dries super fast, so you don't have to wait for it to dry before putting on your eye make-up. The eye area is back to normal after washing off this eye cream.

A sauna is a small room designed to be heated to very high temperatures, with well-controlled humidity. Saunas are used both for recreational and therapeutic purposes, with most people utilizing them as a relaxation tool that provides additional health benefits. There are two main types of saunas: dry and wet. Which type you prefer is just a matter of taste. Wet saunas are sometimes called steam rooms, and are kept at lower temperatures than their dry counterparts usually between 100-115 Fahrenheit (37-46 Celsius). While dry saunas may be kept at much higher temperatures of up to 250 Fahrenheit (121 Celsius), by keeping the ambient moisture down to nearly zero.

I read lots of articles about sauna. It can actually help to stay free of diseases in a natural and healthy way. There is overwhelming evidence that the toxins we breathe, eat and drink are responsible for the majority of illness, and saunas are proven to be the most effective method for the daily removal of these toxins. Sauna causes your body to burn calories. Your sweat glands produce sweat, which requires energy, and therefore increases caloric expenditure. Saunas should not be solely relied upon, however, as a weight loss system. Not only that, it can also help those with breathing or sinus conditions breathe better. Oh, by the way, me and my sister had sinus problems before this. So, I decided to give it a try! And I really went... that was few weeks ago with my sister. Actually, it's our first time in a sauna :-) The place we went to is called Ratu Wellness Centre which is located at Jalan Satok, Kuching. It's a small sauna and we'd spent about 30 minutes in there. Before we start off our sauna session, we were asked to strip down and put on the towels they gave us to get ready for a nice shower before entering the sauna room. While in the sauna room, all I have to say is, it was lovely, hot, smoky and sweaty! I noticed that it has some form of hot fragrant rocks in there which may be splashed with water to release both a short burst of steam, (temporarily creating the impression of a higher temperature), and a pleasing aroma. After the sauna session, we had another cool shower. We really had a great time and great experience!! Wow, I can feel the difference in my body after only one sauna visit. Amazing!! I warmly recommend the sauna. For those who haven't been to sauna, try to experience it and you will just feel so relaxed, both physically and mentally.

Kate My Color Pencil

I've got these color pencils a while ago. It's versatile because it can be used as an eyeliner and doubles up as an eyeshadow. The colour is vibrant and has glitters in it. It won't give you that kind of over look... It's just nice for those who loves a natural and a balance look. That's why I like it! It saves my time some more, especially in my morning routine. It's very easy to use/apply and pretty easy to wipe off. It lasts for the whole day and it won't give you the "panda look" at the end of the day. I just simply place any of my two favorite shades into its useful holder and I'm ready to go!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish - Soft And Gentle

A highlighter can be used to add a dramatic or subtle look to our usual makeup routine. For MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (MSF), it's a luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. It adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks and brows, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face. I have totally fallen in love with this product in Soft and Gentle which I bought last month. I LOVE IT!! It's my first MSF by the way :-) I use this as a highlight especially on my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, my chin and my forehead. I also apply it all over my face as a finishing powder. I can't believe when I get lots of compliments when I wear it and it looks amazing in photos, too. Gives such a pretty shimmery glow and beautiful peach bronze sheen (almost colourless) to the skin without looking too sparkly... It looks remarkable under dim lighting, too!! I highly recommend this MSF.

Metallic Eye Makeup for Dinner

Few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me to do the makeup for her for a wedding she would be attending. I was really excited and was asked to do her makeup. I called it Metallic eye makeup because I used MAC pigment just to add the shimmer to her eyes. Since she has acne skin, so what I did was I tried to cover it up with the three acne hiding weapons, namely, concealer, foundation and finishing powder with a brush. I tried not to apply too much of foundation, this is to avoid having a caked look to her makeup. I also use tissue paper to even and smooth out the skin to get a better coverage. She looks great in the end.

Six Things I Do Before Applying My Makeup

I always wash and cleanse my face before I start with the following steps... Check out my video above on the six things/steps I do before applying my makeup...

I start with:

1. Toner

Toner is supposed to control oil by giving your pores a deep cleaning. It is designed to cleanse the skin and shrink pores on the face. Toner can be applied to the skin with cotton wool/pad. I think this is the most frequently used method.

2. Moisturizer

For me, moisturizer is a must for every women out there. It is designed to make the external layers of the skin (epidermis) softer by increasing its hydration by reducing evaporation. Moisturizers prevent and treat dry skin, protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture, and mask imperfections.

3. Makeup Primer/Base

This step is optional. But I like to put on it just to keep my makeup on for longer and prevent smudging. The product I used can reduce excess oil, hydrates the skin, evens out skin tones and helps minimize the look of fine lines. In this video, I applied only on my T-zone because that part of my face tends to get oily throughout the day.

4. Foundation

It is a flesh-toned cosmetic applied to the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion, and, sometimes, to change the natural skintone. You have to choose the best foundation for your skin tone and type to set off the rest of your makeup. The purpose of foundation is to even out the skin tone and hide imperfections.

5. Concealer

A concealer or sometimes called colour corrector is a type of makeup used to mask pimples, dark circles and other small blemishes visible on the skin. Concealers usually do a good job of hiding blemishes by blending the imprefection into the surrounding skin tone.

6. Eye Base

An eye primer or base can be applied to prevent the eyeshadow from fading or migrating to the crease. It also makes the eyeshadow last longer and absorbs oil and making your makeup seem fresh all through out the day.

Sultry Bell Bottom Blue Eye Makeup

Before

Here's another makeup makeover I did to my friend last week. I was so excited and can't wait to share with all my blog readers. I chose blue eyeshadow color - MAC pigment in Bell Bottom Blue just to match her clothing colors and I also mixed with black eyeshadow color to the outer corner of her eyes using my Coastal Scents palette. The purpose is to give shape to the eyes. My friend has a square face shape. So, I decided to contour and highlight her face with bronzer just to bring out her cheek bones, her nose, slim her face and get rid of her double chin. Blending is key in contouring face. The idea is that you can't see where the contouring starts and stops. Instead of using bronzer, darker and lighter blusher/foundation also can be used for this purposes.

Her eyes really popped!! Okay, here's what I did. I lined the whole top lids with Kate Liquid Eyeliner (liquid eyeliner) and the whole bottom lids with Kate Super Sharp Liner (liquid eyeliner) at first. Then, I applied MAC Eye Kohl Smolder (eye pencil) after that. I dragged the eye pencil gently and lightly from the outer to the middle bottom lids. Then, I smudged the bottom lids (which I lined with eye pencil just now) with a brush, just to get the smokey effect...

Kate Liquid Eyeliner

I am a self-professed eyeliner fanatic! I just bought a Kate (sub-brand of Kanebo) Liquid Eyeliner and I used it for quite a while now. The colour is great, it's dark and black shimmery in colour but the colour is not that intense. It has a good sharp brush and nice elegant packaging in black colour, nothing too fancy... You can create very precise lines ranging from thin to thick. I'm quite satisfied with it because it was very lasting, and very easy to wash off (of course, with makeup remover)!! So far, it also has not smudged, flaked, or faded on me even I tear a lot from yawning... I will certainly repurchase this item.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub

This scrub is one of the best I have tried to date. The cleanser is cream based, non-foaming and it comes with a flip-top lid. The tiny microbeads feel uniform in size and aren't gritty. The scrub isn't too rough for my face yet I definitely can tell that it's exfoliating. It also contains beta hydroxy acids (BHA's), which help to eliminate blackheads, and pimples. I started using this just at night (ie. every night) before I was my face with Neutrogena Deep Clean Energizing Foaming Cleanser. The results, my face becomes smooth, clean, and not tight at all. This scrub is suitable for all skin types.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Energizing Foaming Cleanser

I love using Neutrogena Deep Clean Energizing Foaming Cleanser. This cleanser is a great foaming cleanser so far I found. The gel foam is in blue color. It comes with a flip-top lid for ease of usage. It is not sticky nor so runny as well. It also leaves a matte and clean finish and refreshing feeling every time after rinsing my face. This cleanser has the ability to remove dirt and excess oil in your face. It is very economical. Why? Because you just have to put on small amount of gel on your palm with little water then you will find it lathers a lot. This cleanser is suitable for dry, oily, normal, and combination skin.

The color stays on reasonably for hours, less greasy and gives smooth lasting finish. The packaging is in black color, and they are cute and classy. It tends to dry out my lips because it doesn't have a high level of moisture. My lips chapped most of the time that's why I have to wear lip balm before I apply lipstick. But in this case, with this lipstick, I don't have to wear lip balm anymore and yet (weird!!) it heals my chapped lips very fast!!! I will surely repurchase it. And, this time around in other colors :-)

Last night, I went to MAC Cosmetics to see what they have for the latest Holiday collection. One of the collection that caught my eyes was the Fun In The Sun Mineralize Kit. Angel Bong, a makeup artist there, did a few demo for me using the Fun In The Sun Mineralize Kit. She did a great job!! And, the result was amazing!! It was very convincing and promising, too!!! There are two (2) new Mineralize kits, namely Fun in the Sun Mineralize Kit and Pinkzapoppin! Mineralize Kit. Each contains a mineralize skinfinish, a mineralize blush, a mineralize eyeshadow duo, and a 181 mini kabuki brush.

How to Remove And Clean False Eye Lashes

False eye lashes can actually be reused provided that you maintain them and keep them clean at all times. Here's the tips on how to remove false eye lashes and also tips on how to clean false eye lashes after wearing...

To Remove False Eye Lashes

You can use face cloth or cotton pad saturated with warm water and a gentle makeup remover. Hold the face cloth or cotton pad over your eyes for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the glue. You may use some eye makeup remover as an alternative. You can also use a cotton bud and put a bit of olive oil or virgin coconut oil to achieve the same glue loosening effect. Gently and carefully apply along the line of the false lash line. After making sure that it has fully softened, take one corner of the lash band and gently pull off the eye lashes.

To Clean False Eye Lashes

After removing your false eye lashes, soak them in a tiny amount of warm, soapy water to remove the glue, dust particles, as well as false eyelash mascara that you possibly applied. Use tweezers to pull off glue particles. Afterwards, dry them and store them back in their original container.

How to Make Rough Feet Smooth

Most people experience rough feet. Cracked, peeling skin is unattractive and many times can also be very painful. Dry weather is one of the main cause of rough feet. Feet that are very rough and have been for a long time may take a little longer but within a few days, you will begin to see results if these simple steps are followed.

You can use a pumice stone to make your rough feet smooth. These come in many shapes and sizes. It can be used on wet or dry feet. Begin by using it on dry feet. With a back and forth motion, rub the pumice stone over rough heals or balls of your feet. It will work like sand paper, taking off layers of rough skin.

Next, soak your feet for at least five minutes in a tub of water with a little liquid soap in it.

Once again using the pumice bar, repeat the back and forth motion very lightly. This will take off skin much faster so be very careful.

Dry feet well.

If you are going to bed, apply moisturizing lotion to your rough feet and put on a sock. Sleep overnight with the socks on. If you are not going to bed, rub your feet with lotion and put your shoes on as usual.

It made my lashes look longer, and also made them start naturally curling so that I didn't have to use a curler or brush at all, and now I'm starting to notice new growth in lashes too, so they are appearing thicker than they ever have before. How To Clean Your Back

Do you clean your back while in shower? Or, do you have problem reaching your back? It may be easier if you use a long-handled body sponges or try look for the soft bristles. To clean your back, you can actually place a small amount of baking soda into your body cleanser gel, mix together and then gently brush away. Instead of baking soda to cleanser gel you can also add sea salt or epsom salt. Or you can mix all the ingredients (sea salt and baking soda) to your shower gel depending on your preferences.

Kate Super Sharp Liner

I'm starting to love Kate products (sub-brand of Kanebo) and have been pleased with their products that I have tried. One of them is Kate super sharp eyeliner and I really like it very much!! It's super easy to use and to draw even for the first timer because of the super-sharped brush. You can actually define the line to be thinner or thicker. It doesn't smudge (even in humid weather) and it's waterproof, too. It stays on the whole day!! I bought the black color and use it almost everyday now. But, the color is not dark enough. I have to apply another time in order to make the color more darker!! Sometimes, the ink does not flow smoothly in the middle of drawing and I have to wait a bit before continuing. To remove it, I don't have problem with it. Overall, I like the whole idea of the eyeliner and will definitely keep buying this until they come up with a better product.

Easy Way to Sharpen Eye/Lip Pencil

I have difficulty getting a straight line of eyeliner on my eye or lip liner on my lip when the pencils are not sharp enough. What I do is sharpening it prior to use. But the problem here is some of my eye/lip pencils break and crumble when I sharpen it. Here's a simple, easy, and effective way I've tried so far!! Just put your lip/eye pencil in the refrigerator or freezer. This is to minimize breakage when you sharpen later. Leave it for about an hour. In fact, you can just simply store your eye/lip pencil in the refrigerator or freezer so it is always ready for sharpening when you are. So, remember to keep your eye/lip pencil in a refrigerator for better sharpening and application. After that, you can easily use your eye/lip liner to make your eye/lip makeup look more defined!!

I had The Body Shop Glow Enhancer in Pink and Natural shade. The Body Shop is currently doing a special promotion. But for this product, they offer buy 1 free 1. I heard alot about this product and decided to buy and can't wait to try it out. It's a moisturizing liquid luminizer that comes in a thin and clear 25ml tube.

Here's a quick review of The Body Shop Glow Enhancer:

This product has a nice subtle glow effect on the skin. The effect is minimal and it gives a very soft glow. It can be applied before or after foundation, or mix both at the same time. It can be also used before or after moisturizer or mix them together followed by foundation. Whichever comes first, it's all up to you!!! I usually mix the Glow Enhancer together with my liquid foundation. As a result, my skin becomes dry within an hour. The good thing is, the nice thin subtle glow effect on the skin can be seen obviously but hardly lasts for the whole day. I've tried another way, ei apply Glow Enhancer after foundation/makeup. This one makes my skin break!! My skin dries up even more faster and only have a short slight luminous glow. I also wear it before and after moisturizer just to get additional moisture, it still gets dry easily. I'm quite disappointed with this product and definitely will not repurchase it!! For me, it's not a glow enhancer at all!!!
