Hi gang,
We are proud to announce for our ConQuest SF - Pacificon Game Exposition 2007, the attendance of Alan Emrich as a Special Guest.
Anyone who knows Alan knows him to have spent his life pursuing and promoting the hobby. There are few people who have done more in his life than Alan has. He co-created Strategicon (LA's gaming conventions) while still in High School. In 1977 he held the Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-21357276618561681922007-06-08T16:55:00.000-07:002007-06-08T17:20:01.614-07:00
Hi gang,This week has been about the Flea Markets at ConQuest SF - Pacificon Game Exposition being held Labor Day weekend, Aug 31 - Sept 3, 2007 at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Hotel in Burlingame, CA. There was much discussion about the times and type of Flea Markets we were going to run, and it was clear that we needed to modify our plans to create an event that the community would Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-67336152878865507292007-06-04T17:43:00.000-07:002007-06-04T18:05:43.674-07:00It's the ConQuest Cafe!
Hi gang,Boy...if anyone tries to tell you that running a gaming convention is hard work, try running four or five or them! The past couple days have been occupied with fixing the problems we had with the Flea Market and Auctions last year, and making them better for this year at ConQuest SF - Pacificon Game Exposition. So far, it looks like we'll have a single Flea Market everyday, and two Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-18795007313291083512007-06-01T13:33:00.000-07:002007-06-03T10:09:51.746-07:00New Name, New Digs, and Growing Room!
Hi gang,
The sites been surveyed. The negotiations have finished. Agreements drawn and looked over by rules lawyers. And now, we have a signed deal. We have a new hotel for next year, and an old name comes back. Classic Coke has come home. It safe to drink soft drinks again....

Hi gang,
I miss Star Fleet Battles. Oh sure, you can play the new Star Fleet game Federation Commander, which is really well done....but I still miss the amazing tournaments I'd play in with dozens and dozens of other Star Fleet captains and admirals, all vying for that perfect photon torpedo launch, or for the plasma's to outrun your enemies. Before I played my first SFB game, I wore out my Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-8338855224199029532007-05-30T17:44:00.000-07:002007-05-30T17:58:52.613-07:00La Vida Mondo 2.0
Hi gang,
Welcome to The Adventures of Mondo. Pretty much this'll be where I will write things to share with the community about the ConQuest Conventions and other game related experiences. I will write about my thoughts on the shows, directions to go, cool ideas being percolated, and why I did or didn't like the current blockbuster flick. I'd also like to hear from you, especially if you have Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-1153859930911693282006-07-25T12:11:00.000-07:002006-07-25T13:38:50.966-07:00The Bay Area - Bastion of Gaming!Hi gang,
Just came home from a whirlwind 52 hour 1100 mile business trip to the East Bay and Sacramento and back! Here are some notes:
The Sacramento Marriott in Rancho Cordova just rocks! I stayed there on Sunday night, and toured the facility on Monday morning and met with the Director of Sales. All the meeting space is internal to the hotel, with it split about 70/30 on either side of the Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-1151620110291321062006-06-29T13:45:00.000-07:002006-06-29T15:28:30.333-07:00A Living Legend
Hi gang,
My name is Mondo. And I've been a Dungeons and Dragons player for 29 years. Since then, it has always been my favorite game to play.
My favorite game was taught to me by my best friend Peter Dorman who taught me how to roll up my first character (Hobbit Thief - Armando) in the dorms at UC Berkeley way back when. Our first gaming convention experiences were at Pacificon in the Bay Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-1151443536273789142006-06-27T14:05:00.000-07:002006-06-27T14:25:36.323-07:00New Digs in Sacramento
Hi gang,
Well, after searching hill and dale for the right spot for Sacramento, it appears that we are close to landing at the Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova, which could house us for quite a few years.
The big Rancho Cordova room will have the registration area just to the south of the opening, so it is what will welcome gamers into the convention. Its over half the size of the big room Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944734.post-1150841031375774572006-06-20T15:02:00.000-07:002006-06-27T14:33:17.926-07:00Hooray! PolyCon was Dead!
Hi gang,
For a Dead Convention, (Polycon XXIV was subtitled "Con of the Dead",) PolyCon was alive and doing very well! Kudos to the organizers for all the hard work and effort that goes into making a gaming convention a gas for those who attend.
The new venue (Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo) was a perfect layout for a gaming convention. Lots of spacious meeting rooms for events, "The Pit" (Gabriel "Mondo" Vegahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09650880834404174856noreply@blogger.com
