Pre Boxing Day Shopping: Bottega Veneta Antique Brass Aviator Sunglasses

Who needs to wait till boxing day when you can start shopping sales on X'mas day? Especially with extra discounts awaiting!

Takashimaya Department Store in Ngee Ann City loves having extra 10% discount promotion for their cardmembers regularly. This year, from Christmas day till 30 Dec, the promotion kicks in yet again! This is the best chance to get more mileage for your bucks (sale or non sale shopping) or buy non-sale items at 10% off. I did the latter... a pair of non-sale Bottega Veneta Antique Brass Aviator Sunglasses which I have been eyeing since a few weeks back is now mine, sans the full retail price:-P Hurray!

I even used SGD$140 worth of vouchers to further reduce the already 10% discounted price. Always happy to bag a better deal!

Made of antique brass and 'tortise shell' plastic temples, the big brown gradient lens are ideal for looking 'Anna Wintour' or just simple sun protection. There are lots of fine detailing which we can never expect any less of Bottega Veneta. The front of the aviators spots a brass strip of intricately moulded 'woven texture' that connects the lens, reinforcing the Bottega Veneta brand with even spelling the name. The temples also finds 2 brass rings and metal studs at the ends. However, I am most loving the butterfly detail on the insides of the temples adjacent to the subtle Bottega Veneta branding. Definitely a pair of shades that is unique in its own design and luxurious!

Masculine, sophisticated but most importantly, the brown tones and classic style are totally matching to my new Prada Bag:-P

Prada Double Zip Executive Tote In Caramel Saffiano Leather

Hurray! It's Christmas day! Time to dig into the Christmas pressies!:-P And my treat to myself this wonderful festive day is none other than... (of course, what else can it be?!?!) it's A NEW BAG for mymanybags!:-P Yes, it's one bag that I have been eyeing on for the longest time ever since I blog about it here. So I finally used X'mas as a good excuse and put my 'shopping decision making misery' to an end:-)

I finally have my own Prada Double Zip Executive Tote! This is one gorgeous 'tai tai' (means rich man's wife in cantonese) bag which is an absolute classy arm candy:-) Clean lines, structure saffiano leather body, glamourous gold tone hardware make this one ultra sophisticated bag to carry. I also love the double zip compartments with allows for useful organising of your belongings. Suitable for the office as much as weekend shopping adventures:-) It's love at first sight even though the bag was meant for the fairer gender (I did try on the men's soft briefcase which is similar in size, but the design seems too conversative for my taste).

I choose the caramel colour over the burgundy, black or brown version as I feel the gold hardware and this lighter colour is classic without being too conventional. Another important reason was the Prada plaque on the bag was in a unique cutout version (more subtle and interesting) instead of the usual triangular metal version. The construction of the bag at the base is also slightly different with a rolled leather rim around the base, which appears broader visually.

My only regret was I did not get the bag sooner. Hence, I had to pay like SGD $80 extra due to the rapid price increase by Prada lately:-( Fortunately, my VIP discount kick in to soften the impact.

They say Christmas is a time where wishes come true...well, now one of mine did:-)

Balenciaga Spring Summer 2010 'Sunday' And 'Velo' Bag

I have been keenly awaiting for Balenciaga to add new styles to their classic motorcycle range. New men's designs from Fall Winter 2009 already looks promising, but somehow the women's range always look more edgy and interesting. And some Balenciaga pieces have that neutral touch that allows for men to carry the women's pieces. My wish came true this X'mas.

Look what I uncovered... Exciting new designs with the regular studs, but in a hand carry/shoulder strap messenger style or tote style. Both also looked just right in size for guys...but will need to confirm before making a 'commitment':-P

I love the Velo bag which has a smart day and night look that allows for shoulder sling. Will be ideal for those hands free days out and about. As for the Sunday Tote Bag, the big tote style is a refreshing change to the weekender bags which most suited guys. So now there's a new option this coming new season! BTW, I was surprised Balenciaga bags (Weekender) was listed as a short lived trend in NY Mag (Click here to read). Balenciaga bags are some of the most time-tested and trend resistant designs. For me, they are always current and on trend, all thanks to Nicolas consistently keeping the brand as an important fashion trend leader season after season. Those guys at NY mag probably do not know what they are blabbering. (Agree or no?)

Love the anthracite colour as well.

I have been buying myself things all the time, but since X'mas is here, this will be my 'big' treat to myself for a 'massive' year of hardwork... a reward of sorts for surviving one of the worst years in economic sense.

After seeing it in real at the Givenchy Boutique in paris, this pair of Givenchy 'Bondage' Boots from the Fall Winter 2009 men's collection have eluded sight and sound ever since... I cannot seem to find these cool shoes anywhere online or in any shops... Even pictures of people wearing these shoes are as scarce as land in Singapore:-)

Until today...I found a pic... and I am still in love. I should have snag myself a pair in Paris in Sep. Grrrr... Shopping remorse...

Balenciaga Spring Summer 2010 Women's And Men's Bags

What a season of variety this upcoming Spring Summer 2010 season is for Balenciaga bag fans! Not only do we get to enjoy new colours (a trend for Balenciaga bag release) but totally new styles and new materials.

The women's classic motorcycle bags gets new members such the Club (A hobo style shoulder bag) and even totes in many variants, some in undistressed leather which is new for this range of Balenciaga bags.

I also love the clutches offered in patchwork style designs of different materials, from raffia to ostrich leather. Gorgeous!

Colours range from muted olives to bright almost neon greens and yellows. The lune series of bags now come with more colours and variants, with shoulder straps attached.

As for the guys, travel duffels, hobo style sling bags or the men's version of the cube bag are looking just as promising. Love love the who range. Is another Balenciaga due in my collection next Spring Summer?

New Balenciaga Store, New Shopping Find! (Balenciaga Anthracite Denim Pants With Ribbed Side Detailing)

What a busy weekend of pre-x'mas retail frenzy in Orchard Road today! I was 'brave' enough to venture out on this last weekend before X'mas despite the huge crowds, heavy rain and massive traffic jams. As the saying goes, no pain no gain. So my adventure today in Orchard Road did pay off big time:-P

Besides getting a brilliant haircut, it's also an easy day of exploring the further reduction sales, cruise season new arrivals and the best highlight of the day, a visit to the new Balenciaga Boutique at Hilton Hotel, Singapore! The holy temple of Nicolas Ghesquière's brilliant creativity has now gain not only a massive upgrade in size but also new swanky interiors that leave me in awe and breatheless. Italian marble, hexagon themed display stands, a croc skin weekender in white and gold and hordes of new Balenciaga bags are just amongst the noteworthy visual treats:-)

I had originally not intended to purchase anything, except to check out the store interiors. But the flashing imagery on a huge LCD panel showcasing the new Spring Summer 2010 Women's collection got me excited. I spotted pants from the collection that look so aandrogynous that I stand a good chance of bagging myself a pair. Guys wearing Balenciaga womenswear is not something new, but it is almost 'Cinderella luck' to find pieces that can fit a guy. So I enquire with my favourite Balenciaga SA, Noreen who was exceptionally helpful in answering my queries. The runway pieces has yet to reach the stores so I will have to wait a couple of months to see the pants in real. But she suggested I should try another pair of Balenciaga jeans which has interesting detailing and skinny enough to fit my requirements. Of course, I gladly obliged, having found the perfect excuse to check out the dressing rooms. It did not disappoint, the rooms were spacious with lavish gold walls, purple carpets and fuchsia upholstered seats, all reflected in the generous size mirrors that seem to make everything look beautiful:-P. Besides being mesmerised by the dressing room decor, I also happily tried on the Balenciaga Jeans which is in an Anthracite colour, with interesting ribbed panelling that run down the sides (reminiscent of those sporty elastic bands). The visual effect is somewhat a cross between tuxedo pants but with a sporty edge. Very avant garde and cool! To be honest, at first sight, I was skeptical about me being able to squeeze into these skinny jeans. But no harm trying in the name of fashion.

Cinderella luck seems to be with me, the jeans fit perfect! Not as tight as I imagine, but just enough to not look ridiculous for a guy. The colour and detail is unique to men's jeans design which is an aspect I am most pleased about. Hence, I obligingly handed my credit card to bring this gorgeous Balenciaga piece home. Best part is, I got it at a hefty 50% discount:-) So you can imagine what a double bliss shopping Saturday! Who need Santa when you have 50% sales and the magic Visa cards:-P

(Afterwards, I went to Dior Homme to check out the Spring Summer Arrivals upon being informed by one of the Dior Homme SAs who was there to check out Balenciaga Weekender bags. At Dior Homme, I tried on a pair of 'paint splattered' jeans which I like too, but need some consideration since the colour is very close to an exisiting pair I own.)

In my mind, I was already very contented with my Balenciaga version, which is more unique and outstanding. I am in love with Balenciaga now. Do drop by the new Balenciaga store at Hilton Hotel. An interior masterpiece in its own.

Welcome back colours! It's nice to be visually rejuvenated with brighter hues after dull winters! So this Marc By Marc Jacobs clutch makes it to my want list for Spring Summer 2010. Colour blocking of Orange, Brown and Navy leather makes this a fun and cheerful arm companion for all the summer parties awaiting. Reminds me of cruise ships and sailors... Did I mention nautical themes are big this cruise season with Chanel leading the trend?

This clutch will be a good match for all the whites and stripes...

Mulberry Spring Summer 2010 Cufflinks

I am not a suit up person. My job does not require me to wear anything that needs ironing. It's the envy of a lot of my friends, but sometimes I feel we could do better in the dressing department in my office. Some guys are just slobs! Yuck!

However, although I do not wear shirts most of the time, I enjoy all the little accessories a man can use to enhance his allure:-) Little things like cufflinks add a lot charm when picked the right one.

And Mulberry's Spring Summer 2010 cufflinks is love! It's so cute for fans of the city of London! I miss the city already:-P Paired up sets of London Street Sign and Bus, Mail and Mailbox, Telephone booth and Wall Plaque(?), all spotting signature London red! Very charming as gifts for friends or even on a day where you want to ease up the corporate mood.

Hermès Losange Scarf on Jude Law during the London Premiere of Sherlock Holmes:-) I love it, from the way it's tied on him and the colour! He seems to have more hair now (although not lacking on the chest!)...I dunno why. His Dunhill Ad campaign makes him appear to have less:-) But nonetheless, he is one of my favourite actors. His British accent is so cute! Okay back to the Hermès Losange... never knew there is a polka dots version, but I love it! A perfect X'mas gift, I must say... :-P
