Getting ready for the Halloween Party this Friday!

Since I am having a Costume Halloween Party this year, I decided to decorate the outside a little more this year than I usually do. I got this "Grim Ripper" the other day at Lowes. His eyes light up, his lantern glows red, his head moves and he talks. He looks great at night. I wanted to make more of a dramatic entrance for the guests when they arrive. I thought I would add some branches and drape them by the entry. This way I could add some spider webs and my spider sacks.

His bride I just got in the mail the other day. I love her. I added a gray wig and my old wedding dress. She is also holding a bouquet of flowers that I spray painted black.

This is what the front flower bed looks like. I still have to make my big huge spider web. I bought a big fussy spider to attach to it. This is going to be my Saturday project if it doesn't rain.

A long over due Halloween post!

I hope you all are getting ready for the big day coming up soon. Some of you might know that this is my favorite holiday. I look forwards to this all year! The last few years I have been selling my Halloween designs to all you Halloween nuts like myself. But recently I have been employed full time and it has become extremely difficult for me to find the time to craft. But with any spare time I have managed to find, I decided to make some well wanted Halloween items for my collection.

I have been selling my Halloween Haunted Houses for a few years now. I have always wanted one for myself but I really never had the extra time to make one. But I was determined this year. I have had so much fun creating it. I my idea was to have a whole bunch of Halloween characters dressed in their Halloween costumes "Trick or Treating" on Hallow Eve's Night!

Also in the pictures below you will see the garland I made for my fireplace. I have been wanting to do that for so long. Finally I have one. I bought the garland off of Christmas Traditions website. It was 9 feet with lights. It is a real nice one. I would recommend it for sure. I got the balls from Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section. The are black glittered. I just painted stripes and added the color glitter. I love the way this turned out. I was hoping to add some candy garland to it as well this year but they all sold out. Maybe next year.

I decided to not have my annual "Wild Women to Wonder over for Wine" Halloween Party this year. Instead I decided to have a couples Halloween Costume Party! I am so excited about this one! It will be my first to host. I think it should be alot of fun. I will be sure to post pictures of that one.

I promise I will try to post more in the future. It is hard to find a spare moment. Let me know if you have any good recipe's or any good Halloween ideas for a party just post me a message. I would love to hear from you.

I can't believe where this year has gone already! By this time last year I was full force into creating for Halloween. I have been to busy working at my other job to craft so far this year. But I miss it so. You don't realize how much you miss something until it has been taken away. I did, however, sit down the other day and work on some new orni's for my Etsy store. They are almost completed and I hope to get this listed this weekend sometime.

Hi Guys! Time for the first Halloween piece of 2009. This is a piece that I thought would go great with the Halloween Parade I made last year. Note the picture down below.

This little witch is riding on Haunted House float through the Halloween Parade. The neat thing about this is the float lights up. I added a small battery operate lite inside. I added a skeleton, spider webs and a witch silhouette peaking through the windows. The front door says, "Enter if you Dare".

It's a very sad day at my house! Yes it's time to say goodbye to my Halloween Friends! All tucked away in their little cabinet until next year. The good news is they are behind glass and I can take a peek at them everyday if I choose. I am sure I will sneek a peak now and then. Oh how much joy they bring to me around this time of the year.

Witches Hat Mandatory!

This year I almost didn't have my party. It was a last minute decision. But I am so glad that I did. I think all the ladies look forward to coming every year. We had a few that weren't able to attend and a couple of new witches. But my moto is the more the merrier.

I decided to have all the food in the dining room this time. It seems to work out better that way. But most of the time the ladies don't eat anyway. I made the usual pepperoni bread, little hotdogs wrap in crescents rolls and I stopped by and picked up a party bucket of popcorn chicken. The crab dip was a hit as always. Sarah brought an artichoke dip. I blinked and it was all gone. Lisa brought a veggie pizza. I felt bad that not very many people at that. I think with my experience at this party is that the easier to eat and the easier to grab is the way to go. They don't want to fuss with plates or forks as much. Just something you can dip and stuff in your mouth.

The food wasn't set up yet but I did want to show you my tree with my new orni's. I bought a few Scott Smith's and Johanna Parkers. I also got these little paper lanterns that you add a little battery operated light inside. They were really cute.
This spot is where most sit for some reason. No one really hangs out in the great room. Maybe because it is closer to the wine! He He!

Here is the empty great room! Just kidding no one arrived yet.

I did hang up these lanterns. I wanted so badly to painted stuff on them but I never got around to it. So they do look very plain. But with the "Happy Halloween" glittered banner it's not so bad. I won't be doing this next year.

These are the glasses that all the witches drink their wine out of. The only problem they aren't very heavy because they are plastic. I am on the search for some cool Halloween glasses for next year.

Here are my "JB" Pumpkinseed Originals Collection. My dear friend Lisa's kids get these for my birthday every year. Since my birthday is in September my friends and family always know what to buy me. Of course something for Halloween!

I got these tablecloths at the Party Station Store. As soon as I saw it I just had to have them. It reminds me so much of Johanna Parkers Design. Way cute!

Here are the first witches that arrived at the Party.

These ladies are my neighbors and one of the girls mom(Mom in middle). Her mother was a hoot! She was visiting from Chicago. She said she was so glad she got to come. I sure hope she makes it next year. Check out those hats. I am eyeing mom's hat for sure!

I flipped when I saw Julie's hat. Her mom bought this for her and brought it from Chicago. It was so great.

I think I have the same pose from these 3 witches every year. I must change it up a bit next year.

Can you guess which one is me?! I tried to disguise myself as much as I could this year. I added some black hair and a cape. A little over the top with the feather boa. I am still picking up feathers today.

Last year I had a contest for the best decorated witches hat. This year I decided to do the best carved or best decorated pumpkin. We only had 3 witches that participated. But 3 is better than none.

Karen was the winner for her Spider pumpkin with glo sticks. Her prize was a "JB" pumpkin figure and a fall scented slatkin candle. I found the perfect pin too the other day at the store. It was a flashing pumpkin pin that said, "winner"! I am not sure if you can see it or not.

And last we had Miss Julie with her carved pumpkin. Her little daughter carved it for her.

This is in the dirty garage. Of course you have a few ladies that like to have a cig. once in awhile when they are having a cocktail or too. It was funny even us none smokers seem to hang out there as well.

The last guest left around 3 a.m. Most of the ladies leave and the die harders hubbies come and we hang out with the guys. We have a great time.

Well that is it. It was a small crowd this year. If I would of planned better and got my invitations out I think I might of had more people. Instead I just called everyone that week and said. "Hey by the way I am having my party this weekend can you come"!? I guess I am lucky I had as many people as I did. Next year I plan to be more organized.

Good afternoon! Can you believe that it is only 23 more days till Halloween. It has creeped on me so fast. Since it is fastly approaching, I decided that I am listing my final batch of Halloween orni's for this year. I have had so much fun making all the different characters. I think Halloween really lets me explore my creativity. It sure doesn't help that it is my favorite Holiday.

Gourdy the Pumpkin Jailer~Papier Mache Halloween Figure

It's time for another Challenge piece from my Ebay group, "EHAG". Eclectic Halloween Artist Group is a group of very talented artist's that sell their Halloween Art on Ebay. Every once in awhile our group will throw a challenge our way. This challenge is called, "Creepy Confections". This is what I came up with for my entry.

GOURDY THE PUMPKIN JAILER
This is how the story goes:

Let me introduce Gourdy the Pumpkin Jailer. Gordy loves to make creepy Halloween candy. One day he heard a knock at his front door. He peeked out the side window and standing on the front step was two candy officers from Candy Land. He knew it was all over. Someone must of told on him that he was making creepy candy. The law takes this very serious. Creepy candy has been know to scare the children in the past. The community doesn't want any frightened children on Halloween night. So off he goes to jail. Notice the numbers on his shirt, "103108". That is to let everyone know what type of violation his is in for. "Misuse of candy making"! Gourdy wasn't sure how long he would be in the slammer. One thing for sure, he will not be around for Trick-or-Treat night. The law doesn't want to take any chances that Gourdy might go back to his old ways.

I have had so many customers in the past ask if I would make smaller ones for their little trees. I had so much fun making them. I have a few favorites myself. Whimsical Spookies

I have been working on some new whimsical spookies for Ebay. It has been a slow process. I hurt my neck a while back and have been going to physical therapy twice a week. It has definetly helped me though. I normally am able to create more around this time of the year. But it has been a slow process lately. So look for these soon on Ebay. Decorating My Home with my Halloween Decorations

Well I am already decorated for Halloween this year. I just started collecting a few years ago. I always look forward to this time of the year when I can hit all the store and try to add to my collection. This year I bought some new things. So I will share so old favorites and some new ones.

This tin bucket I painted last year. I sold one and keep one for myself. I am so glad that I decided to keep one. It was just a plain black and white checked bucket that I had for years. I always thought it would look great with a different Halloween painting or Halloween saying in the white blocks. This is something that I know I will cherish for years. The doll was something I bought at T.J.Max last year. I think I paid $9.99.

The 3 bigger figures I bought at Tuesday morning this year and last year. I would really love to buy some of my friends art but sometimes they are a little out of my price range.

Take a peek at the two figures above. For an extra little touch I have added the cone party hat and the glittered crown. The party hat is from Retro Rudolphs. I bought several horns from Lori this year. I have added two to papier mache figures and one to my favorite little pumpkin doll.

The glittered crown was purchased off The Holiday Queen. I have grown to have a deep love for Melissa's art. She is such a wonderful talent. Her crowns are perfect to add to your figures.

This is the doll above. I think his new party hat looks perfect on him. It was like it was meant to be.

The tree and the orange bucket I bought last year at Hobby Lobby. This tree has brought me alot of joy this year. I made some orni's for it last year but this year I bought some glitterville orni's off of Ebay. It was a set of 13 mini ornaments. Glitterville one of my new obsessions!!! I am not sure if you can tell but I have 3 of The Holiday Queens orni's and I added her small shaker rattle as a tree topper.

This little twig tree I bought the other day at T.J.Max for $9.99. Yep that is right. I couldn't pass a deal like that one up. I really didn't need it but I knew if I brought it home I would find a place for it. When I did get it home I thought I need to add some new orni's to it. I worked on making some tiny papier mache ones. I decided that I will be listing the orni's on Ebay soon. I have had some customers in the past ask me if I would make little Halloween orni's instead of the big ones that I make all the time. I think I have a new passion. I am hooked!!

Here is what the tree looks like outside. You can get a better idea. Of course, it is way cuter in person. But I can see this filled next year with all kinds of cute orni's.

Can you see my new Kitty Kat lantern. Oh! I love it. It is perfect there. I bought the other two paper lanterns at Micheal's in the kid section for $1.49 each. Yep. Great value!

Of course my all time favorite things is my wooden orni's and my wooden tree my hubby made for me. It is perfect to display my ornaments. I will never part with it. I just wish I had some new ornaments to add to it this year. This is my third year to make my signature wooden orni's. I have been so pleased with the new ones that I have made. Maybe next year I will be able to keep some for myself.

The Graveyard Asylum

I have a new listing for Ebay this week. It is one of my signature papier mache Halloween Houses. I would like to present to you the

"Graveyard Asylum"

This is how the story goes:

This state asylum has been treating the mental ill for over 150 years and continues to do so to this day. This institution is mainly known for treating patients with candy addition. October is a busy month. There is such an over flow on Halloween night. Every year around this time the scary caretaker, Mr. Bone Ashford throws a Halloween Party at the Asylum. This is to distract the patients from the true meaning of Halloween night. CANDY!!! There are total of 6 patients that reside in the house at this time. Not very often do they get to have a party at the Nut House. The caretaker thought all the patients were looking a little down and thought they needed a little pick me up. A Halloween Party was just the thing that they needed. Mr. Ashford thought he would invite his two best friends over for some Halloween fun, Miss Wendy Wicked and Mr. Will B Haunting. Most of the residents in the Asylum are Wendy and Will's friends. So they are not afraid. People say you can hear the screams from far far away that night. The story goes that the locals are not sure if it is screams of joy or screams of belly aches from lack of candy.
