I haven't had mine for the last three days and boy does it SUCK!! whispering everything, trying to get someones attention when theyre walking off, using sign language and text messages to communicate in a club! lets just say its been an interesting bordering on frustrating last few days...the weather has been pretty horrid and raining all the time but that might just be the diseased & frustrated part of me talking!...Been off work till today so I'm looking forward to seeing my babies again albeit being voiceless.

Yesterday was Madisons birthday and we had a small "surprise" party for her......n she walked in on the preparation n walked right out! lol! was nice all the same...

Travel plans for the weekend are leaning towards Shimla but with the weather that might not be such a great idea...
Last weekend was Amritsar....which was fantastic although the beginning was a wreck! The bus we went in was..in Devons words.."a remake of the arctic tundra!" The AC was so cold that there was precipitation in the bus. It began <s>dripping</s> raining on us and a tiny river formed on the bus floor....only in India!! :) When we got to Amritsar it was POURING and I wont lie that taking the next bus right back home didnt cross our minds! We found a lovely restaurant where we had lunch for a little longer than was necessary(ie. till it stopped raining!) and then went out in search of the golden temple. Its amazing how such a BEAUTIFUL place of worship, dazzling monument and tourist attraction can have such chaos and filth as its immediate surroundings. You would think that it would be set in a sceninc location thats calming and inspiring....think again! The temple itself though is a marvel and so is the amount of dedication and effort that the followers of Sikhism put in keeping it that way.

Later in the day we went to the Wagha border, the border between Pakistan and India, where the two countries (which have a tense relationship) try to out-cheer, out-march and out-dance each other during the border closing ceremony. Its a lot of fun and quite a healthy way to exercise the animosity! Silly politicians in Kenya should borrow a leaf..

Hope this weekend's just as much fun!

Karembonoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8909053706043002564.post-11236565629349010982008-07-15T00:10:00.000-07:002008-07-15T00:12:20.268-07:00Indian Tales....So this is a blog that I should have been updating since two weeks ago! The thing is the last two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind! From meeting fabulous people from all over, to being stranded in the middle of nowhere with a HUGE suitcase, to shitty accommodation, to seeing some of the most beautiful scenery and monuments in the world to mini strikes and riots (lol! Worldview interns)

I arrived in Delhi for an AIESEC internship on the twenty eight of June and in Chandigarh, India the following day. Presently I’m living and working with 10 other interns from Slovakia, UK, USA, Mauritius, China, Japan, Canada and the Netherlands. The project involves teaching children from the ages nine through to fifteen about culture, more importantly different cultures, helping them understand the world as well as world issues and finally helping them develop their personal skills. So far the children have been great and it is a great experience. It’s amazing how much you learn about people when working in a project like this, and even more amazing to experience teaching different children in different age groups and different circumstances. I’ve come to discover that teaching is ideally a vocation and is one of the most exhausting yet satisfying jobs. Today I had a new class and all the innocent children wanted my autograph, my email and phone number and they crowded to touch my hair and hug me! They are so precious, and they make every bit of the project worthwhile.

Karembonoreply@blogger.com0
