The Dutch television reality show that was here this summer is finally airing! I haven't had a chance to watch much, but it played better on "low" or "laag" quality than on the higher setting. Our property is the location for John Whipple's group stay and interviews.

We have an ATV trail that begins at the end of Wolverine Road, just past our driveway. Guests can rent four wheelers in Wasilla and bring them here to use if they choose. The trail starts out like this, nice and wide, but gets progressively narrower and bumpier the further up the mountain you go, so be warned!

A lot of people don't realize it, but we have minor league baseball right here in Palmer.

It's hard to find an Alaska road sign, especially on back roads that hasn't been shot up. Last year the sign at the creek was still in good shape, but that hasn't lasted long. Hey people, there's a shooting range in town!

Everything is in bloom right now, so the bees are well, busy as bees!

I guess what we thought were mice are actually voles. They are everywhere right now!

The cottonwood trees have had a really good year. The seeds piled up like small snowdrifts along the driveway.

I can usually tell if we have an eagle around because the ravens and seagulls make a racket. Here's a young eagle that was perched on the tallest tree on the island.

I finally got to see the new swan babies that hatched this week! The parents have been very careful to stay out of sight--If anyone is even visible on the lake, they hide in the reeds. There are five babies in all, and they are adorable!

The robin and chickadee babies have all left their nests, it was neat seeing them go from egg to little bird and watching the parents take care of them.

This spring, we had a duck make its way down the chimney all the way to the woodstove. He was fine, and flew right away after his rescue, and although he was sooty, he had beautiful green eyes. Yesterday I got some photos of some of our ducks, and I believe this is what kind of duck he was:

Today was another gorgeous day!

The wild roses are blooming, and the air smells wonderful right now!

Well, the last week or so has been very busy...June has started out to be a great month!

The weather has been beautiful, the king salmon fishing has picked up, and we were honored to have Larry Csonka, Audrey Bradshaw, and the crew from "North to Alaska" here for a few days. SmokeeJo and his wife Jayne were delightful to have, and the crew, Pat, Sacha, and Sam were great, what a talented group they all are, and what hard work they put into their projects!

We have a cow moose with twin babies on the island in front of us right now, I imagine they are two weeks old or so, and there are several other moose, two of which might be her older calves, which have stayed close by. I'll add some photos this week. Here's a photo of a young cow that was in the yard a few days ago:

On another note, if you are planning on visiting us this summer, time is of the essence! We are almost completely full for July, August is starting to get booked up, and we still have a few spots in June for you last minute travelers. September fishing here is excellent for rainbow trout, the salmon spawning attract some big ones to the end of the lake where the salmon jump out of the creek into the lake.

Also, there are some updates on our chalet page with some new photos, check them out! I've had some remodeling projects going, so we're posting those as I get a chance.

Last night my son was clearing brush down by the lake, and inside a rotten log that was falling over, he found a chickadee nest. We snapped a photo, put the top back on, and the little family is just fine! I was amazed at how tiny the babies are, and how many! The log is almost like a chimney, with a little hole in the top that the parents go down to reach the babies.

The dock is finished, and the good news is, we now have two docks! The good portion of the older one made a dock in itself. Thanks to my Uncle Charly and our friend Bob for all of their help. We couldn't have done it without you!
