Kits for Fenaison (Spring/Summer 1954 GL catalog) or School Dress

In the GL catalog there were many dresses styled with like my E-Pattern.These dresses featured a v-shaped yoke, pleated bodice, pleated shirt, puffed sleeves with band, fabric belt and various collars. There was a sunbonnet also that came with the dresses.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SPEWXf2-YbI/AAAAAAAAAjA/nXXT_rSwkUc/s320/AprHt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5256006833062961586" />

In the 1946 issue of LSDS there was a wonderful little dress, almost like the Fenaison, but with two velvet bows at the waist. Throughout the 40's and 50's there were many dresses which could be reproduced using this pattern. I call them School dresses since they are such nice and neat and colorful little dresses that would be wonderful for school days!

I fell in love with these dresses. Most used fabrics with nostalgic prints or flowers and checks with bright colors. I have a large collection of Reproduction fabrics that are scaled perfectly for the Bleuette dolls. I am offering many of these Reproduction Fabrics in kits.

The kits include:

Fenaison E-Pattern. (Deduct $10.00 from kit if you already have this pattern)
I am also including my free pattern for the 1952 Gare aux taches, Beware of Spills Apron, which is featured in Bleuette by billyboy* over one of the Fenaison or School Dress styles.

Supplies and Materials: Reproduction fabric for dress and bonnet, material for collar, belt buckle, buttons, and snaps. For Apron: fabric, lace, snaps, and buttons.

Everything you need to sew up a wonderful little school dress and bonnet with an apron to match!

I had to knit my little Bambino boy an outfit. I used a wonderful blend of mohair and silk for his romper and booties. For the cardigan and nightcap I used a self striping sock yarn. I just love the way the two yarns work together. The outfit is "Balbutiement" GL 1935. I purchased the pattern from Inma Iglesias.
The nightcap is from a 1951 pattern that was in the November 1951 LSDS magazine and was called "Premier bonnet pour Bambino," I worked the pattern up myself and will have that posted as a free e-pattern as soon as I type it up. I just love this little Bambino. This one that is pictured is painted by Anne Luree.

I finally found a Bambino. I bought mine first Bambino from Anne Luree. A few hours later I saw one on ebay and bought that one also. I wanted a boy and a girl! I only had pink yarn so I still need to dress one of mine in blue and white. So far I have only knitted up Inma's patterns. I have one that I found from Barbara Jennings that I will try next. I had to knit up a striped outfit for my little boy Bambino! Click here to see how cute he is in his new striped cardigan and nightcap!!

A Prayer

My mother and I always loved to go to Estate Sales. I would hit the bedrooms where the old linens and maybe laces and fabrics would be and she would go straight to the dining room where mostly silver and crystal was laid out. One of the Estate Sales was magical for me. The lady that had passed away left small yardages of lace and tatting that she carefully wrapped up in small paper bags. I almost felt sad as I went through all her carefully saved treasures. She also had beautiful white work that fell apart in my hands as I took it out of its hiding place. The brutal heat and humidity in this part of North Carolina was not nice to this delicate handwork. I did save all that I could and I thought about the lady who had carefully put away all this beautiful lace. In one of the little brown bags was a note, written on what looked like adding machine tape turned brown with age. The note turned out to be a beautiful prayer that seemed to be meant for me. As I read it, I could almost see this lady as she carefully wrote out this prayer.

This is the prayer that I found:

My Moments With God

Dear God, help me tonight to relax, to rest with an untroubled mind. Let me sleep in the knowledge that Thy love enfolds me. Let Thy healing power renew me for the day to come.

Where my efforts have failed, let me redouble them tomorrow. Where new beginnings are required, give me strength to make them; where new problems must be met, the knowledge to solve them.

If I lie awake, let the quiet hours bring awareness of Thee, for such awareness brings it's own rest.

Fill the empty places of my heart with love, the dark rooms where none but Thee can enter. Teach me this truth; that no heart can be lonely when it tries to help one lonelier still.

Tomorrow let me help, however little, each one I meet; for in doing so I help myself and Thee. Let me offer help thoughtfully, since those who need it most are often least able to accept.

Help me to desire what is right, to show fully what Thy love has meant to me. Help me each day to come closer to my best, that I may truly be a child of God. Through the day to come, let me show my joy in Thy love by sharing it with others. And every day let me show Thy teaching, that our acts tomorrow are far better prayers than our words tonight. Amen

My E-Pattern "Fennasion" or Schooldresses for Bleuette is made for the years 40-60. (This pattern is also modeled after pictures from this book). I needed an apron (Tablier) that could be worn with the school dresses that I love for my Bleuettes. The picture below shows one apron as from the early 50's.

Billyboy* states in his book, " " Park with the Taches", of spring - summer 1952. carries over a printed dress of 1946.." I tried to match this sweet apron with a pattern. My bleuette Ann and Daisy, wear my interpretation of this apron. The apron is crisscrossed in the back and has two large mother of pearl buttons as closure. Daisy has a little hanky in her pocket. I kept the aprons plain, with just a tad of cotton lace in keeping with the look of Bleuette.

The blue apron below is from Bleuette's World Winter 2005/2006 Volume 7, Number 4. It is Tablier Fantasie - Fantasy Apron for LSDS Number 38, 1926. If I made this apron again, I would close in the neck some and not make the shoulders so far apart. As with all LSDS patterns, I try and make a mock up, and then use my fashion fabrics. This one I made up without a mock up. It is still cute with the 30 type fabric.

I used a cotton lace to trim the apron and large mother of pearl buttons.

Daisy's apron is a pink and white pima cotton lawn with white trim. I will have this pattern as a free E-Pattern sometime soon. It is very simple to put together. My three aprons are all handsewn, since my dolls are wearing all their proper underclothing plus the dress and apron.

I just love this crocheted cape for Bleuette. I used Agnes's translation from Bleuette's World Winter 2007/2008 Vol. 9, Number 4. The LSDS pattern is No. 44, 1905. Maggie is wearing an off white cape in Koigu wool.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCe_DrwM1I/AAAAAAAAAgU/bw9tbTPohCk/s400/Mcape1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242364772417024850" />
The crochet stitch framing Maggie's face is called a ball fringe stitch. I think this adds so much to the pattern. The cape below is made from sock yarn! I wasn't sure how the striping would turn out, but it seems to pool nicely. Bobbette is wearing this cape with such a nice wool.

The first six patterns from La Semaine de Suzette are included. I have not made all of the items, but wanted to include the lingerie I have made from this wonderful set of patterns.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCWkxFFh6I/AAAAAAAAAfk/atRrkPg2mlU/s400/Dundies1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242355524653385634" />
Dalfina always wears this lingerie set under her clothing. Her lingerie is all made of the finest silk batiste with the softest French laces and silk ribbons. Everything has to be lightweight since all this has to fit under all her outfits! This first outfit shows Dalfina's Chemise. There are tiny tucks in the neckline and the chemise is made from one piece of batiste that is sewn at the shoulder seams. All hems are tiny seams folded under twice so there are no raw edges. You cannot see the little "B" embroidered on the shoulder, but it is there in a thin outline stitch.LSDS No. 3, 1905

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCYgaWbvTI/AAAAAAAAAfs/N1c2qHMBn_0/s400/Dundies2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242357648855907634" />
Dalfina's corset if No. 5, 1905. The pattern said to use linen or firm calico, but I used the same silk batiste for all of her lingerie from this set. The back is laced up and there are cords sewn on the bottom to attach the stockings.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCZm4BVupI/AAAAAAAAAf0/ZBNFXtd-C5Q/s400/DundiesBk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242358859411339922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCbVwHBpRI/AAAAAAAAAgM/yOcMmtYvC4Q/s400/DundiesBk1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242360764253185298" />
Dalfina's "Drawers", I call them undies, are from 1905, No. 4. They have tiny little buttons and loops to close on the sides. I embroidered tiny flowers near the lace that gathers around the hem.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCaa19qcnI/AAAAAAAAAf8/1JOqKoKIHuQ/s400/Dundies.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242359752212247154" />
Dalfina's stockings are from LSDS No. 2, 1905. I used a soft, knitted fabric and embroidered little flowers up the side. You can see how the ribbons from the corset attach to the stockings in the picture below.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCbKahP1II/AAAAAAAAAgE/Zx__9tWkYjk/s400/Dundies3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242360569479025794" />

Dalfina's New Fall Ribbon Dress

Dalfina's new silk dress is just right for the fall! A present from India, this silk changes color with the light. I used the Ribbon Dress pattern from Bleuette's World Winter 2006-2007, Volume 8, Number 1.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCSZ5brdPI/AAAAAAAAAfM/uF7ECg4Sn8I/s400/Dafalldr.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242350939870557426" />
I made the dress first, and then realized that Dalfina needed a cape and hat to complete her outfit. The cape and beret pattern came from Bleuette's World Fall 2005, Volume 7.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_UMeQABVcJuQ/SMCTAgH8yKI/AAAAAAAAAfU/6KiyoOIoVpA/s400/Dafall.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242351603091818658" />
The coat pattern is actually a Spring Coat from LSDS No. 7, 1916. I did not line the cape since the wrong side of the silk is a beautiful bronze color and just as pretty as the outside. The pattern for the beret is Beret De Satin from LSDS No. 42 1921. The Robe De Rubans, Ribbon Dress is from No. 23, 1923.

My mother lives with me and is confined to a wheelchair. She is very meticulous and always was washing her hands since the wheels of the chair made her hands black (from the rubber of the wheels.) I first made her mitts out of wool and even cashmere. I couldn't wash them like I wanted to though and decided to try dishcloth yarn.

I can wash the mitts daily and they are only a dollar or two to make her a pair. I am trying to make her up as many as I can in all color-ways. The variegated yarn or ombre works as nicely as the solid colors. I have started to make two at a time with two circulars since it is faster that way.

All my patterns became E-Patterns a few months after 9-11. I was mailing out so many patterns and then there was the Anthrax scare. I decided then to convert all my patterns and just email them. It was actually a very good thing since it saved postage and paper. In the beginning I had to explain exactly how to download the patterns, where to find Adobe, and how to change your settings in Adobe to make sure the pattern printed out right. Now it seems everyone is so familiar with adobe pdf files!

With my E-patterns, just click on the paypal button, make sure that is the pattern you want to purchase, and log into your paypal account. Your pattern should be emailed to you within one hour. Sometimes that varies since paypal has to send out the payment information. It is fine if your paypal is set up with E-checks. Paypal offers sellers and buyers such great protection that it makes accepting payments so easy.

If you cannot do paypal for whatever reason, you can mail a check or money order. Email me for mailing information.

Thanks for stopping by my little spot on the huge, world-wide web! I am located in Fayetteville, North Carolina and enjoying seeing where all my visitors are from! North Carolina is a beautiful state, with beaches and mountains within driving distance. My early 30s and part of my 40s were spent raising my three boys (born 7 years apart)! I still have one in high school, but can put more time into my hobbies! I have two adorable grandchildren that live 19 hours away in Arkansas.

I also am a teacher, right now I am teaching first grade. My husband is a retired teacher, 33 years! We have a dog, Buster, and a cat, Snuggles. I would really love to have a little Chihuahua. My mom lives with me, she is confined to a wheelchair and loves to see what dolly outfits I come up with.

I learned to knit a few years ago and enjoy knitting and crocheting along with sewing, smocking, and any type of handwork.

Thanks for stopping by and please come back often!

The EZ Dress E-Pattern for Bleuette and Ann Estelle is not designed to be any year or design of the LSDS magazines for Bleuette. It is just an easy to sew doll dress for that size doll. A beginner could easily make up this outfit and feel as though they can go on to other, more difficult sewing projects. Have fun with this free E-Pattern.
