Tuma has compiled a wonderful selection of island music splashed with flavorful textures of Latin and jazz. Production is first-rate as the multi-layered instruments are well mixed and tempos are moderate with an uplifting spirit. The zest of each instrument really brings forth the essence of a tropical paradise and invigorates one's mind and body. "Wild Bossa Nova" is an exciting arrangement in a call-and-response form from the bright synth horns and guitar. A striking synth brass section carries a delightful melody in "New York Salsa" as the percussion keeps a solid beat. Bob Marley and/or Harry Belafonte fans will want to check out "Island Birth," as it is an engaging collection of energetic Latin/jazz music from a tropical setting.

-Diane And the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Frank Tuma 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-14352577769545423832009-07-14T18:55:00.001-07:002009-07-14T18:55:08.575-07:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Gene Hilbert with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Larger Prey"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Gene Hilbert with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Larger Prey"
Seasoned performer Gene Hilbert's latest release, "Larger Prey," is a collection of original music fused with classic rock, jazz, and blues. A one-man show, Hilbert not only is the vocalist and guitarist but also has creatively performed every other instrument. The album's high-quality production is heard in each track, and each track is arranged with excellent distinction between instruments and vocals. Subtle bell sounds and horns complement the razor sharp guitar on "Morning 20." Harmonic guitars highlight the moving piece "March to Baghdad" as it takes on a sound of its own. Vocals are low and clean while the harmonies are perfectly layered on "Talk To Me." Hilbert has taken different musical styles and has compiled a wonderful selection of songs with powerful guitar melodies. "Larger Prey" is a guitar driven album that is well worth hearing, especially for listeners who enjoy Joe Satriani or Santana.

-Diane And the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Gene Hilbert 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-17761023705058722982009-07-14T18:48:00.001-07:002009-07-14T18:48:18.776-07:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Zakben with a GrIndie Award for the CD "In the Beginning…"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Zakben with a GrIndie Award for the CD "In the Beginning…"
In his debut album "In the Beginning…," Zakben launches a spiritual collection of songs filled with rhythm & blues/funk forms. The production of this album is well-presented with a consistent and clever mix of funk and spiritual talent. Vocals are distinctive and sung with crisp clarity, which balances the unity and chemistry between the musicians. Reflecting on his heritage, Zakben sings his well-composed lyrics with sincere and heartfelt tribulations of better times. "12tribes" and "We Are the One" are upbeat songs with a funk style guitar and energetic bass beats. Zakben exhibits his versatility with "Sweetmanna," which brings the tempo down a little to a slower style of rhythm & blues and steady, solid drums. "In the Beginning…." by Zakben will appeal to fans of spiritual-inspired R&B and is one album listeners should definitely take a listen to.

-Diane And the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Zakben 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-38512224913844719872009-07-14T18:20:00.001-07:002009-07-14T18:20:53.898-07:00Check out Chris DeMarco, one of RadioIndy's favorite Rock artists

RadioIndy is pleased to present Chris DeMarco with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Chris DeMarco-The 80's"
Chris DeMarco's most recent self titled release, "Chris DeMarco-The 80's" is an album that re-invents the upbeat classic pop rock music of that era. DeMarco, a seasoned veteran of music who has performed with various well known artists, has decided to debut his works originally recorded in the 1980's. These catchy pop styles are splashed with light lyrics over striking guitar riffs while keyboards add a touch of pop orchestration. DeMarco's vocals are melodic and rich, exhibiting his polished, strong and distinct voice. Note the high harmonies on "The Same Old Way" and also on "One More Shot." They are undoubtedly a staple of '80's pop. Rock-hard drums streaming with solid fills and edgy guitar licks reach well beyond their roots on "The Mirror." If you like music that captures the essence of 80's pop/rock, "Chris DeMarco-The 80's" is a CD well worth listening to.

-Diane And the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Chris DeMarco 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-44967042138122688012009-06-17T11:03:00.001-07:002009-06-17T11:03:55.537-07:00"The Full Moons" by Stephen W. Duncan has ingeniously and eloquently mirrored the episodic events of the moon with his expressive and appropriately named album, "The Full Moons." Duncan has created an atmosphere of beautifully orchestrated compositions using various types of instrumentation with tones of classical and New Age finesse. Stunning and powerful, "Snow Moon," casts out a luscious melody highlighted by dazzling dynamics as the strings swell only to gently recede ever so softly. A bright and crisp piano cascades across the keys on "Flower Moon" while the Eastern tonality of various instruments gives way to a charming melody. Upbeat and lively, "Harvest Moon" impresses with country style with the banjo plucking away, while the percussion taps to a steady beat. The motif of Stephen W. Duncan's "The Full Moons" holds thought-provoking melodies with wonderful instrumentation of classical/New Age flair and would be a great addition to anyone who likes to hear and feel the sounds of tranquility.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Stephen W. for the CD "Get Money"
"Get Money" by Da One is a collection of upbeat and driving Hip- Hop/Rap songs. The vocals are powerful with crisp clarity and funky grooves. As you listen to this album you will feel the lyrics flaunting rhythmic poetry in true Hip-Hop fashion. The entire album is masterfully mixed and feature driving drum beats and quality synth sounds. The tracks create a party atmosphere and you can't help but move to the intensity of the grooving beats. "Hustle" showcases nice low brass synth, synth strings, and hand claps. On the chorus of "If you need It" (featuring J-Key), the guest artist complements the lead rap vocals with high background harmonies over a laid back drum beat. Chill out and feel the party beats of the electronic drums and lyrical rhymes when you listen to "Get Money."

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Da One 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-70122560906358836642009-06-11T20:03:00.001-07:002009-06-11T20:03:23.839-07:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Various Artists with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Bluff Rock Entertainment Presents: “The Black House”"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Various Artists with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Bluff Rock Entertainment Presents: "The Black House""
Bluff Rock Entertainment Presents: "The Black House" is a CD by various artists hosted by the progressive hip-hop label. The male and female musicians who have compiled this album voice their inspirations of hip-hop with clever lyrical rhymes, tantalizing beats, and tight rhythms. Patriotic Poetry, as heard on "The Value of an American Dollar" speaks of emotional times in America and is also a spoken solo vocal track with no instrumentation. The rhythmic vocals with backing beats are fresh and original and display inventive lyrics. Progressive synths and drum machines really build up the genre, creating an upbeat tempo with a variety of instruments. In a creative production venture. the incorporation of the using the music from the band Cutting Crew and their song (I Just) "Died In your Arms Tonight" as an intro to "So Additive" is innovative as the beat of this song keeps going as a lyrical Rap is heard above the looped strings which are predominant to this song. You will want to take a listen to the CD "The Black House" especially if you like the musical styles of Jay Z or Lil' Wayne.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Various Artists's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-48659741611223594182009-06-11T19:35:00.001-07:002009-06-11T19:35:12.247-07:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Sing Songs America with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Singer"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Sing Songs America with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Singer"
"The Singer" is a collection of songs made up of four different formats brought to you by Nashville, Tennessee. The works are songs written by Duke Nguyen Browning and are performed by various artists. All songs are based on the foundation of country music, but branch off into Contemporary Christian, Adult Contemporary, and Christmas Music. Each and every track on this album tugs at your heart. Duke's songwriting talents are top notch. The arrangements are fantastic and the performances are stellar. The album also sounds like a million bucks and is ready for the air waves. Highlights are the Duke's duet with Netha Schrimpf on "If Tomorrow." This track is extraordinarily powerful, with rich vocal performances complemented by a beautiful string arrangement. 'Tis the season for some Christmas music, so be sure to check out the delightfully playful "Santa's In Town Again" and the heartfelt "Season for Giving and Love." If you enjoy great songs by professional country artists, don't pass up the opportunity to experience Duke's work on this fantastic collection of songs.

-William and the Radioindy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Sing Songs America's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-2240692703257325522009-06-11T19:21:00.001-07:002009-06-11T19:21:42.644-07:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Marnell with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Come to the Manger"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Marnell with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Come to the Manger"
"Come to the Manger" a CD by gospel artist Marnell is a collection of classic Christmas music while also featuring three beautiful original holiday songs. The vocals are outstanding and sung with such pure passionate emotion. You'll hear standard jazz covers on this CD but Redd puts her own artistic, flavorful twist to these great jazz classics. The backing musicians, The Guffman Trio, lend a stunning musical performance enhancing the lead vocals of Redd. "At Last" is a wonderful rendition of the Etta James hit with stunning and exceptional vocals. "My Funny Valentine" is so sophisticated with vocals pouring out emotional feelings and the piano enhancing the ambience of the song. Sit back and listen to an upright bass sauntering through a bass solo or a piano strolling through a bluesy chord progression. "Discovered…At Last." is definitely a relaxing compilation of familiar jazz standards with a fresh balance of jazz swing and blues.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Redd's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-14016560276325344502009-06-04T11:46:00.001-07:002009-06-04T11:46:59.640-07:00"Happy Talk" by Andrea Hopkins & Jonathan Katz (Jazz Artist from Japan)

Twirling Jonathan Katz's nimble and deft piano accompaniment around her finger like an alluring chanteuse, Andrea Hopkins explores Vocal Jazz styles in a voice as emotive as it is beguiling on their engaging and very fine CD, "Happy Talk." Tackling a collection of primarily Great American Songbook standards – from Hoagy Carmichaels' "The Nearness of You," to Harold Arlen's immortal "Over the Rainbow," to Ray Noble's "Cherokee," Hopkins & Katz neatly strike a balance between provocative interpretations and familiar readings, proving how much life is still left in these old warhorses. Nevertheless, covering such standards as these (as well as "Bye Bye Blackbird" or "Misty") can be a double-edged sword for performers, exposing - as it does, new renditions to the harsh glow of comparison (i.e., to the Sinatra's, Fitzgerald's, and Garlands et al whose voices defined the songbook.) To their credit, the duo handles the challenge with assurance and no lack of self- confidence. Hopkins' voice is equal parts sultry, evocative, and pitch perfect, while Katz' keys delve the melodic and harmonic possibilities of these classic tunes with intelligence and nuance, but always in a manner that allows Hopkins room to interpret. In sum, the combined talents and sheer musicality of Andrea Hopkins & Jonathan Katz make "Happy Talk" an endearing and completely satisfying CD.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Andrea Hopkins & Jonathan Katz's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

Radioindy Adminnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8813996617350679779.post-91167392149419671062009-05-30T17:09:00.001-07:002009-05-30T17:12:38.736-07:00

Calling all gospel lovers
Posted by: jesusneverfailsme on: May 28, 2009
In: Uncategorized
1 Comment
Singing God’s Praises
My name is George A.
