Thompson to be useful. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

Arguably, the hardest part of gaining top search engine rankings is building quality backlinks pointing to your site. Getting a sufficient quantity of quality links is a challenge. In this article, we'll discuss a few methods that can help you build more quality links.

Method #1: Manual Link Exchanges Link Quality: Medium Link Exchanges, or link swapping, is an industry standard way of building incoming links. Very simply, you agree to link to link to site XYZ in return for them linking to your site.

I highly recommend that you use software to manage your reciprocal links. A good piece of software will ensure that all of your link partners continue linking to you, & will automatically organize links by category. I recommend SolvoLink, which you can download free at http://www.free-link-exchange-software.com There are others, such as Links Manager, but you have to buy them. SolvoLink is good enough for the average webmaster.

Once you install a link exchange management script on your site, you will need to find webmasters with sites related to yours that want to swap links. Here are a few free tools that you can use to locate other webmasters to exchange links with:
value-exchange.sitesell.com www.linkalizer.com www.addurldirectory.com

Method #2: Articles Link Quality: High Article marketing is an excellent way of getting free, high-quality links pointing back to your site. Here is how it works: You write a informative article sharing your expertise in an area. Include a signature in your article that includes links to your site. Then submit it to article distribution directories. Other webmasters will use your article as content for their site, & include the links to your site.

To get a list of sites that you can submit your articles to, go to www.internetsuccesskey.com I update this list occasionally as I find new sites.

Method #3: Buy Links Link Quality: Varies You can buy links, either one-by-one, or in quanities. You should be cautious buying large quantities of links, as you could be penalized if the search engines did not like it. Also, most links bought in quantity are very low quality. On the other hand, buying links individually can be very expensive. Buying links, though, is an option you should at least keep in mind.

These three link building methods are the three most dependable methods I have used. Use these methods, & I promise that you will have more inbound links than ever before!

About the author:
Adam J. Thompson Adam is a full-time internet marketer. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

Google is dancing again! A full tilt all out boogie - a long drawn out rumble somewhere near cursor heaven. My own keywords are going up, down and out the door. Take your pick. Just want the bloody thing to stop. My nerves are shot... three years of hard work may just go down the drain and there's no end in sight!

Fellow webmasters will recognize my slight desperation, my total sense of unease when Google dances. It all has to do with pre-conditioning, psych majors will know this, I am well conditioned to react. I have been burnt horribly by Google dances in the past so my panic is almost palatable. Forget Pavlov's dog, when Google dances, webmasters like me salivates.

And Google is really dancing this time, Jagger has nothing on this baby. Nobody dances like Google, even puts Seinfeld's Elaine to shame. And if you're new to the webmaster's favorite folly, a Google dance happens with Google adjusts its ranking algorithm, causing a ripple effect and adjustments in the rankings of keywords. Sites move up or down. Previous major Google dances have been called Florida, Austin, Bourbon...

When Google dances, webmasters sweat bullets. And it's not all in their heads. It's not psychosomatic. Horror stories abound, about honest hard working webmasters (not a black hat to be
seen) suddenly waking up to find their site or sites gone from Google. Thousands of daily visitors/customers to their site vanish in an algorithmic fog overnight. Swift. Brutal. Painful.

Gone, top ranking keywords nowhere to be seen. Gone, visitors, visitors, visitors. Gone, sales, sales, sales...

More times than not, the sites come back or regain their positions (rankings for popular keywords - for the totally uninitiated, keywords or keyword phrases are what people type into search engines to find what they're looking for), keywords are the conerstones of the whole Internet. Without them, the Internet as we know it, would not work.

Mastering Google means mastering your site's keywords or phrases. Get a top ten SERPs ranking for your keywords and changes are very good you will have a successful site.
Webmasters work for years getting their site's keywords up into the top keyword ranking spots. Countless fortunes have been made by those who have mastered the game. Countless fortunes have tumbled when Google dances.

Of course, the sensible thing to do is for all webmasters to unite and bring Google down a peg or two. At least in our own minds, if not in the real world. Don't place so much importance on Google. Yes, it's very important, but snap out of it. The more webmasters whine and moan about Google's erratic dances, algorithm and rankings - the more power we are giving Google.

Why is Google still so important to webmasters? MSN and Yahoo are gaining ground but Google is still the top dog and here's
why: As far as the search engine market goes, whether it's wearing a halo or a cursor, Google is still the only game in town. According to Alexa, a company that tracks web traffic, the top three sites on the Web are 1-Yahoo, 2-MSN, and 3-Google.
However, when you compare where people go on these sites - search.yahoo.com accounts for only 9% of Yahoo's traffic and search.msn.com only 7% of MSN's total traffic; whereas most of Google's traffic is search traffic. This is a big distinction.

Once burnt, twice shy. Years ago, the Florida Update totally wiped my site from the Google Radar. Hence my total apprehension when one of these dances comes along. I wanted my site to survive the next Google dance so I put some simple strategies into place that would hopefully help me weather this and future Google dances. Strategies that you might also find helpful to fight your own private battle with Google. Here's what I did and what you can also do:

Find A Good SEO Expert

Find a good SEO expert and have him or her in your corner. I found Brad Callen. One of a very few people who truly understands Google and knows how it works. I learned much of what makes Google really tick from Brad. I advise you to find or hire a SEO expert like Brad to help you out with your site or sites. Just the fact of having a SEO expert in your corner makes handling Google a little bit easier.

Link Only To Safe Sites

One of the simplest ways to keep on the good side of Google is to make sure all links on your site link only to sites that have a PR4 or over. Don't link to bad neighborhoods, avoid linkfarms like the plague.

One Keyword To A Page

The major mistake most webmasters make - they don't focus on one keyword phrase per page. Try to keep your pages separate, write on one or two closely related keyword phrases for each webpage and you will see a big improvement from Google. Don't keyword spam but sprinkle your keyword phrase and variations of it throughout your copy.

RSS To The Rescue

Creating an RSS feed and Blog for your site's major keywords is as simply as starting a free blog with Blogger.com (owned by
Google) - it can be done in a few minutes.

I favor using Blogger because it now has the Google Blog search bar at the top. Blog search will bring in a lot of traffic and your content is instantly indexed in Google. What more can you ask for. Whatever you do, don't underestimate RSS - it's going to play a major role in the Internet of the near future.
Especially when Microsoft comes out with its Longhorn browser which will be RSS empowered.

Embrace Article Marketing

If you can string two sentences together start writing articles on the major keywords or topics of your site. Place your links in the resource box of your articles and submit them to online article directories like ezinearticles.com or buzzle.com. Write helpful 'how-to' articles and other webmasters will place your articles on their sites and you will get an ambundance of one-way links back to your site. Google loves these kinds of links and since the sites picking up your articles will all be related to your site's topic - these will be relevant links.

Customer/Visitor Focused Content

Besides high PR links to your sites, Google also loves content.
Write unique content that's related to your site's topic and write a lot of it. It's the main reason anyone bothers to come to your site in the first place, so make sure you have good original content. Add high quality articles from sources you respect and your visitors will have another reason to visit your site.

Keep saying to yourself: content is king, content is king. Make sure you put that belief into practice and Google will reward you nicely. Well, maybe. Nine times out of ten.

Actually, this time my site jumped to PR5 and my Google backlinks went up. Also some of my keywords are up but most have stayed the same. Overall, my traffic from Google remains the same which is very worrisome, if I moved up to PR5 - my traffic should theoretically rise also. I saw a dramatic rise in traffic when my site went to PR4.

Such are the little puzzling mine-fields, whether intentionally or not (I can't believe anyone could be this sadistic!) Google throws every webmaster's way. Over time, if you let it get to you, it will drive you stark raving bonkers. Especially, if you are seriously building an income, lifestyle and well-being around the Internet and by default Google.

For every webmaster, Google is a never ending endurance race of strategies, positioning and planning. Keeping one step ahead of this search engine while keeping your eyes peeled for the men in white, is a never ending nightmare, I mean struggle. One every webmaster must fight and win on their own terms. Follow the simple steps above, and you will be better prepared for the next Google dance.

About the author:
Everyone is profiting from Google, find out how you can too!

Are your Articles Creating an Avalanche of Traffic?

Webs 4 Christ Christian Web Hosting & Christian Web Site Design has found this great article by Scott J. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
One of the most popular ways to market an online business is by writing web articles. Unfortunately because of this growing popularity, many webmasters are discovering that it is getting more difficult to get ezines and directories to publish their work. As a result, this hurts their web-traffic and ultimately their bottom-line.

So how can you ensure that your articles will reach the maximum amount of potential web visitors?

The s*cret is to market your articles like you would with every other facet of your online business. It is important to be proactive and build momentum on your articles. Below I list a few simple ways that you can do this:

Submit to Article Directories

The best place to initially submit your articles are to Article Directories. Since many publishers of websites, blogs, and ezines frequent these sites, your article will be quickly exposed to people who have a large amount of traffic.

Contact Article Lists

After submitting to article directories, you should then submit your work to article lists. If you are not familiar with them, article lists are newsletters on Yahoo and Topica that allow you to email your article directly to publishers of web content. When a submission comes from an article list, publishers are more inclined to trust the article and use the material.

Search through Ezine Directories

Once you have submitted your article to directories and mailing lists, you should then focus on contacting individual publishers. The first group you should contact are the publishers of ezines that are related to your topic. You can locate these individuals on ezine directory websites. Most of the time these sites will list contact information and whether the publisher accepts articles. Then all you have to do is email each one and ask them to publish your article.

Contact Individual Websites

Another great place to submit your articles are to the individual websites related to your topic. Since these sites focus on providing valuable information to their readers, you can easily persuade them publish your work. To avoid wasting a lot of unnecessary work, you should only contact sites where the readers would have an interest in the topic of your article.

Email Old Publishers

After writing a few articles, you will notice that they are used by many webmasters and ezine publishers. A great way to quickly get out a new article is to contact them and see if they want to publish your content. Usually these individuals are more likely to use your article, because they have already shown trust in your writing.

Give the Article to your Affiliates

If you run an affiliate-program, you can help your affiliates by giving them your articles as a way to help promote your site. When you contact your affiliates, let them know that they can substitute your link with theirs in the resource box of the article. That way, they are given a monetary incentive to use your web article.

Create an Article RSS Feed

If you have enough articles, you can create an RSS Feed that people can use for their website. Then every time you create an article, you post it on your RSS feed and the subscribing websites have new content for their visitors. By utilizing RSS feeds for article distribution, you can easily expose your article to thousands of potential website visitors.

Getting your article to the maximum amount of publishers is an important step to getting an avalanche of web-traffic. Instead of writing just one article and sitting back waiting for people to come, it is important to continuously market your web articles. If you make it a point to build on the work of each article, your daily website-traffic will steadily increase.

About the author: Scott J. Search Marketing (formerly Overture) face new competition from Microsoft's newly released PPC program, MSN AdCenter.

Currently, MSN still displays search ads from Yahoo! Search Marketing, through a contract that runs until July 2006, but the new technology from Microsoft is just a few steps away from being fully implemented. In the first phase, MSN AdCenter was put to the test in France and Singapore and it was launched to public access in Singapore on August 31 and in France on September 26. The results from the two pilot countries were very promising so, apparently, the paid search program will go into beta testing in the United States in October 2005.

Advertisers love the PPC system rather than others because it's cheaper and more targeted; they only pay when their ads get clicks. Until now the two major choices for PPC were Google Adwords and Yahoo! Search Marketing. However, when a third major competitor turns up, one can only hope that cost per click (CPC) gets cheaper, thus lowering the advertising costs.

As to what the new service features, the competition promises to be tough, especially in the research and targeting tools area. The advertisers are able to specify what kind of audience they wish to target by demographics - geographic location, gender, age group, lifestyle segment and time of day - and the system can provide keywords to be used in search campaigns. All these data can be accessed before the advertisers place their ads.

Even more, it seems that the Adcenter program will provide feedback related to keywords performance and advertisers will be able to switch to more effective ones during the ad campaigns. Eric Hadley, senior director of advertising and marketing for MSN, says the new platform is meant to help users drive ROI from a search campaign beyond just knowing if somebody clicked on it, but also knowing if someone is likely to click on it.

As for Google Adwords and Yahoo! Search Marketing, they both provide geographical targeting but they don't have demographics features. Meanwhile, the new AdCenter platform goes more towards customer profiling and behavior.

Search engine advertisers can't wait to see their keyword based campaigns become even more targeted. However, they'll have to wait a little bit longer, because there's no serious encouragement that the full-scale deployment of AdCenter will be possible before the end of this year.

About the author: Iulia Pascanu writes for http://www.adwordshowtos.com/ where you can find how to guides and practical advice on improving the performance of your Google Adwords campaigns.

Bulk Email Marketing Is The Easy Way To Get Clients

Webs 4 Christ Christian Web Hosting & Christian Web Site Design has found this great article by Christopher Kyalo to be useful. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
Without bulk email marketing, no online marketing program is complete. Even more important, no Internet marketing program can hope to be effective without any bulk email marketing program.

Despite all the problems caused by SPAM and even when it is clear that it has become harder than ever to effectively use email for marketing, bulk email marketing remains king and one of the most effective tools in any online marketer's arsenal.

The reason is simple. The World Wide Web is a colossal jungle - and increasingly so - where it is easy to disappear and never get noticed. Only email, and more so bulk email marketing, can help a small entrepreneur attract some attention and have a fighting chance of being a success.
Your online writing business is no exception to this rule and the single main reason why you do not have any clients yet is simply because you have not yet been able to attract enough attention. And most probably you have never used bulk email marketing.

Bulk Email Marketing Only Works With Opt-in Lists The reason why most folks ignore bulk email marketing is simply because the moment you mention it, most people think of SPAM.
SPAM or mass unsolicited email is illegal, but bulk email marketing is perfectly legal. The difference is that in legal bulk email marketing; only opt-in email lists are used. In short this means that the people receiving your email have all opted to do so.

Does Anybody Read Bulk Email Marketing? Which brings us to the next question. Why would somebody opt to receive email that everybody else does not want? Actually the only way this can happen is if the stuff being emailed is highly targeted and of great interest to the receiver. This happens when the opt-in email list is compiled from people who have already shown a deep enough interest in the subject to visit a certain web site.

People are basically interested in things for selfish reasons which as a good marker you will have to identify and address, if you hope to meet your objectives.

In our case here it is rather easy and straightforward to identify what it is that our potential market wants. As an online writer, you are providing quality content, which is critical in helping anybody make money online. So the way to attract traffic to your articles, blogs or web sites is to talk about how your client can make more money by using your content.

It's really as simple as that. Once you start generating this kind of traffic, all you need to do is find a way to harvest emails from folks who would like to be regularly updated on this subject. If you stay focused on your subject and your prospect's motivation and provide interesting and genuinely useful information, your emails will be read eagerly and enthusiastically. This is the only way to make bulk email marketing effective for your online writing business.

Bulk Email Marketing Will Attract Repeat Visits And Business Using bulk email marketing to attract attention to your articles on online writing is the most effective way to turn prospects into clients. Let's face it; it is highly unlikely that somebody visiting your site for the first time will give you business. It happens but it is rare. What is more likely to happen is that a regular visitor gets more and more familiar with your blog or site and on the seventh visit or so, decides to try you out.

Bulk email marketing is the most effective way of ensuring those valuable repeat visits.

About the author: Christopher Kyalo makes a living online, marketing his various services. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

For affiliate Marketers (AMs) success is all about investing in effective advertising. That sounds simple enough. Except that, for every successful AM, there are dozens who never get past the "first base" of making an income (no matter how small) from their efforts.
Why not?

Because, no matter what the elements of any advertising campaign, one vital factor is knowing how to choose the best, most cost-effective products (advertising tools), for the investment dollar. In short, they need to learn how to shop smart.

While "smart shopping" is a term usually reserved for back-to-school moms or the choice of a ripe melon (in which case, the ladies definitely have it all over the guys in this segment of the business), for an AM to break out and start showing a profit, they must adopt the same, basic principles. They must find good, cost-effective, yet quality products and services. Here, then, are the basics of smart Shopping, Affiliate

Marketer-style:

1. THE WORLD (WIDE WEB) IS YOUR OYSTER No matter the service -- whether it's lead generators, auto-responders, links, ad trackers, you-name-it -- when looking for a product or service, enjoy the advantages of the competitive marketplace. In other words, shop around. The time is past of being blindly led, either by recommendations, past experience or, worst of all, habit. Realize the potential and look around because every day, just as in any other aspect of the internet, new advertising competitors are joining the ranks, with fresh ideas, competitive pricing, new or better offerings. For example, while many still swear by such lead generators as Lead Factory and Cutting Edge Media, SimplerLeads.com has stepped in to offer true high-quality, double opt-in leads, plus offer their own auto-responding system and auto-mail system for true auto-pilot access-- all at rates lower than the competition.

2. INVEST NOW, IT PAYS LATER Invest the time now to research and study the various companies and it will pay off richly later.
Pick a few different companies, research them, get familiar with the various features of all of them. Or, even more importantly, features that some companies have while others don't.
In doing all this -- and, yes, it often takes a week or two -- a marketer not only benefits from the education, but can can also gain a clear perspective of what's available and a product versus pricing comparison.

3. ASK AWAY-- EMAILS TO CUST SVC Never be afraid to ask questions. Even stupid ones. It's all part of the educational process. And that's what Customer Service -- bless their CS little hearts! -- are there for. And, too, CS gives a marketer a good idea of the quality of the company. It a good idea to note their turn around time. By and large, companies go out of their way for their newest and/or prospective customers. So if their response is anything less than stellar, keep looking. After all, if they treat new customers shabbily, how will they treat existing customers. Note, however, two things about CS: 1) They MAY have a good reason for a poor response rate (such giving preference to existing customers); 2) Never bother a company with truly silly questions. Don't, for instance, ask their cost, when it is clearly visible. Find questions that are relevent and genuinely add to your information. Then wait for the response.

4. NOTES, NOTES, NOTES While it sometimes happens that one company stands out among the rest, it's more common for the differences to be slight or the offers varied enough to leave a marketer dizzy. So note-taking becomes essential in the research process. For anyone who never kept good notes in school, the marketing version is simply a matter of deciding on the key factors in the proposed business, then keeping track of those factors from prospective business to business.

5. COMPARE COST VS. SERVICE This is when those notes become elemental in the process. Once several different companies have been explored and notes compiled, it simply becomes a matter of choosing which company offers the best product/service for the money.

6. TRIAL PERIOD Once chosen, the process is far from complete, however. As the old saying goes, "the proof is in the pudding," meaning that a marketer will see how a company/service performs only once they begin using it.

The next step is to follow a company closely for the first 1-3 weeks, making a note of any problems, delays, etc., that might arise. This doesn't necessarily kill a company's possible success, but a bad experience at this point does not bode well. If there is a continued or repeated problem, the company should be re-evaluated, based on the new information.

7. REGULAR REVIEW Okay, so the AM has all the marketing they need, the business is well-established and the advertising has performed well. The AM's smart shopping has been successful and the job is done, right? Wrong.

As mentioned in Tip #1, above, the market is constantly changing and so are the advertising options available. Plus, while a company may perform well initially, their performance could change. Sometimes those changes are sudden and dramatic. But more often they experience a gradual decline that only becomes discernable when analyzed overa period of time.
So, unless a marketer decides to *opt-out* themselves, it is essential to continuously monitor and regularly review their advertiser's performance. And, when necessary, begin the process of smart-shopping all over again.

Does it ever end? Expert marketers know this is just one part of the on-going process known as affiliate marketing.

About the author: Marige O'Brien has worked as a writer, web designer and, most recently, affiliate marketer. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
In this article I will show you that weapons of mass traffic are much easier to find than weapons of mass destruction. And after reading it you won't even have to search for them anymore as I will tell you exactly what they are and how to use them to help you promote your own web properties.

Please note however that those four methods presented here are just the ones that have returned the best results for me and my own websites at the least possible cost (which means, no cost at all). Of course there are many more promotion techniques around and their success does depend greatly on how you use them and for what kind of website so it might be clever to try as many different ones as you can find.

1. RSS Feeds This one is a very easy promotion method that can still bring you very good results, depending on your content and how often you update it. The only thing you basically do is add your content to a RSS feed and then syndicate this feed on other big RSS lists and directories, which will then link directly to your content. Those sites will then update your listing automatically after you have added new content to your website (and your RSS feed) and "Pinged" them through a free service like the http://pingomatic.com/ program.

2. Link Exchanges Link exchanges are mostly used for the purpose of search engine optimization and to gain a better Google Pagerank only but if you use them right they can bring very much traffic, too. And using them right just means using them with the right people at the right place. For example you don't want your link to be buried on a links page with hundreds of other links or on a page that is not read by anyone of your targeted audience. Instead, try to approach closely related websites to yours (but no competitors) and try to negotiate a fair deal with them.

3. Article Submission You might notice that I am just using this technique because when I submit my articles to free article distribution websites like http://www.ezinearticles.com/ I can include some links to my own sites at the bottom of the article and therefore get one-way backlinks from everyone who publishes my article. Depending on the article's topic and how well it is written this might be several hundred different sites. You have to remember however that writing articles is hard work and does take some time however I can still recommend doing it.

4. Press Releases A method that does rather require much work since you will have to learn how to write press releases for yourself (or you have to pay someone to do it). You do also need something newsworthy to write about, but after everything is done the hard work will surely pay off as this is a very effective method to gain new visitors. You basically get them by publishing your press release (that will of course contain several links to your website) on some of the free press release distribution sites like http://www.prweb.com/. After your press release got published there it will normally be read by hundreds of people and reprinted on many other sites. Sometimes, if your news is truly interesting, it might even be picked up by a newspaper or other print magazine and therefore drive thousands of new visitors to your pages. To improve the effect of your releases it might be wise to spend some money and make a contribution to PRweb because this will give you access to some special services like inclusion in Google News and file attachments.

About the author: Thomas Höfter is the webmaster and publisher of the Metal Music Portal Metally.net, the MetalBlog and the SmartphoneSoftware Directory Smartphony. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
The budget is where so many advertisers fail. So many users new to Adwords and Pay Per Click quickly see their budget eaten up and dismiss the whole Adwords system as expensive and not for them. When in truth if they understood the system better and made a few small changes they would see their campaigns improve and their budget drop.

You could be haemorrhaging cash without even knowing it.

There is a very simple change you can make that will have an almost immediate effect on your pay per click budget. This could save you a fortune - Do you advertise on the Adwords 'content network'? Do you even know what this is? You can find it in 'Edit Campaign Settings' more in a second on how to find it.

The content network will see your ad appear right across the Internet on sites related to your chosen keywords via Google's Adsense program.

The problem is that in most cases there's a huge difference between your ad on the search results page and your ad on someone else's site. The difference is in the state of mind of the person that will see your ad. A person seeing your ad in Google's search results is proactively looking for what you're offering, at least if you've got your keywords right, they've just done a search and your ad came up. When they click they're much more likely to buy or complete an action on your site.

Somebody coming across your ad whilst 'browsing' the Net, and that's the key difference 'browsing', is much less likely to complete the desired action. Since they are not proactively seeking out what you offer but have casually come across your ad as they surf the Net. Their response will be much poorer.

I suggest you immediately turn off the option to appear on the content network. It's very easy to do from the 'All Campaigns' page select a campaign by checking the relevant box next to it.
Once selected click the 'Edit Settings' button at the very top of all your campaigns. This will open the 'Edit Campaign Settings' page now simply uncheck the checkbox for 'content network' found in your campaign settings at the top right under 'Where to show my Ads'.

Why you shouldn't let Google optimize your Ads.

While you are in 'Edit Campaign Settings' at the bottom left uncheck 'Automatically optimize ad serving for my ads'. Google may show one ad more than another based on it's CTR(Click Through Rate). BUT your lesser shown ad could have better ROI(Return On Investment) and bring in more sales. Google could be strangling your business right there. Unchecking this will also allow you to 'split' test ads accurately as a couple of ads run side by side will be served equally.

How to set your daily pay per click budgets.

Start with a high per click bid and get your ad shown the maximum number of times. This will build your CTR and you can then gradually lower your click bid without effecting your position. Google rewards good CTR by better positioning a good performing ad. You may want to spend less to begin with but a better attitude is to spend smarter.

Successful advertisers typically turn the daily budget up to the "max" in their campaign settings area, based on Google's suggested daily maximum. Cost control is then achieved through pausing poor-performing ads and groups, or lowering bids - not by cutting your daily budget. If you're not appearing on the front page for a search you can't measure ROI accurately for your keywords. You must pay through the nose to begin with.

But having said that be careful not to appear in the No.1 spot as this can attract the casual clicker. Spots 3-5 are the prime spots. The viewer clicking here has at least considered your ad copy before doing so.

After initial testing if you've written a good ad and you're getting good CTR then you should see your ad hold it's own when you lower your per click budget.

How to work out your daily spend.

This is important so pay attention. If you have a monthly budget of $600 dividing it by the days in the month 30days you get a $20 daily budget.

Google will not exceed the monthly figure but they will go over the daily budget sometimes.

Don't under bid

Don't underbid your Ad group because you're thinking of your "maximum bid" as your actual bid. The average cost per click on the group is the figure you should watch.

About the author: Darren Yates is the creator of PPC Accelerator a software tool shortcut to fast keyword sourcing, editing, formating and managing. There are so many ways to market on the internet that any business owner can find something that works for them. Before venturing into online marketing, though, you should do some research into how to make it work for you. There are some vital things you need to know to be successful at online marketing.

Whether you are working at home in an affiliate program, running your own small business or just looking for a low investment way to advertise online marketing can be good for your business.

Through online contacts you can build a network that can help you market your product or service. Networking is simply building relationships with other people in your line of business. Building a network gives you strong relationships and builds trust. Once you are well networked you can then begin to spread your marketing efforts to other websites. One way is getting a link to your site on your associates websites. You can also work out ways to get banner ads or other advertising on their website as well. Online networking is the high tech version of word-of-mouth advertising.

Email marketing is probably the most often used form of marketing online. With email marketing you get a very targeted audience that wants to hear what you have to say. Most people build their mailing lists by offering free items on their website in return for the persons email address. You can then send these people that sign up special announcements or even create an informative newsletter. Auto responders are a great tool to use in email marketing. Auto responders automatically send a message to the person as soon as they email you. You can set up the auto responder with your message and never have to worry about returning emails. This is just one way of online marketing, but it is by far the least expensive if money is a concern.

There are many ways to market online. There are sites that work much like your local newspaper classified section, ads on other websites, email campaigns and search engines. Whatever method you chose there are some important points you should know.

1. Be patient. As with any form of marketing you may not see results right away. Let your efforts work for a few days before you give up on them.

2. Stick with what works. If something has been bringing in great results do not scrap it to go with a new idea. You can try other ideas, but always keep a winning idea around as long as it is working.

3. Look at the long term results. Use ideas that keep bringing business. It isn't worth your time and efforts to launch a campaign that only works for a couple weeks then falls dead.

4. Avoid scams. It is true that if it seems to good to be true then it is. There are many promises and lies online. Watch out and follow your instincts before investing in anything.

5. Never give up. It takes time and hard work to get any marketing campaign going. If something doesn't work then keep at it until you find what does work.
Following these simple points will help you to develop and maintain a great online marketing plan.

About the author: Carl Hoffman has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience. It doesn't matter what you sell or promote on line, if you are not using forums regularly, then you are throwing money on the wind.

You may have heard a lot of blah blah about forum marketing, but in fact, the basics are quite common sense and easy to apply.
Before I go on, however, I must say I don't agree in any way with using forums to spit up hordes of ads, or to practice awful spam.

A forum or discussion board should be a place to get along with others, communicate, interact, learn, and be helpful. Believe me, following these guidelines is the best you can do for your forum marketing.

The first thing to do when you have something to offer to the world is look up for forums related to your topic and niche. The most specialized, the better. Do I have to say the best place to look is through a Google search? ("your topic" forum).

Register, browse around and see what the folks are discussing about. Introduce yourself, say: "hello I'm new", or reply to a post requesting for help or advice.

In most forums you are allowed to include a signature file, this is, a few lines about you or your business... and yes, a link (make it your sales page or newsletter sign up). Whenever you post, your signature file follows, giving you free exposure to your product...

If you establish yourself as a helpful guy or gal, you will get traffic to your site from people who think you can help them.
You will also increase your link popularity and chances that a search engine will find your site. Most forums keep a huge archive of their threads on line.

This works wonders, specially when you don't have a single red cent to spend.

To your wild success,

Jose L. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
Since Search Engine's are placing more and more emphasis on "link popularity" as part of their search engine ranking algorithms, webmasters should definately invest some time building quality backlinks to their site. There are a number of effective ways to build your link popularity and one of the most valuable is submitting your link details to niche web directories in your industry.

Benefits:

- Valuable one way links back to your site

- Targeted traffic to your website from the directory

- In most cases you choose the anchor text for your link

- Directories are human edited for quality, being listed in a directory means your site has met some editorial standards for quality

- Cost effective advertising - most directories provide a 'free submit' option

So how do you go about finding niche web directories to submit your website to?

1. Search on your Favorite Search Engine

Go to your favorite search engine and type general keywords related to your website into the search box combined with the word "directory" or "submit URL". The search engines love to put directories and information portals on the first page of their search results for general keywords making this technique a great first step in your link building campaign.

2. Use Google's Advanced Operators

To perform more targeted searches you can use Google's Advanced Search Operators; "allintitle:", "allinanchor:", and "allinurl:"
commands. If you have a site about real estate some possible searches could include:

allintitle:real estate directory allinurl:real estate directory allintitle:submit url real estate allintitle:free real estate directory

Please note that you must NOT put a space after the colon.

Use the "inurl:" or "intitle:" advanced operators to return results that contain the first word in the title or url of the website and any subsequent words in the body text of the document. Using our real estate example you might use these commands to perform the following search.

inurl:real estate submit url

Again, please note that you must NOT put a space after the colon.

This search would return results that contain "real" in the url of the page and "submit and/or url and/or estate"
somewhere in the body of the webpage.

Alternatively you could perform this search:

inurl:real inurl:estate directory submit add url website site

This search would return results with "real estate" in the URL and any combination of the remaining words in the body of the web document.

Start with the allin commands to get the most targeted results and augment that with the inurl and intitle commands for a wider scope.

3. Use other directories to find directories

After you begin to submit your link details to directories in your industry you will find that many of them will also have a section devoted to listing other directories. This can be a great way to find directories that may not show up in your search engine searches. 4. Analyze your competitors links

Use the link:http://www.competitordomainname.com command in your favorite search engine to see who your competitor is linking to. Chances are they have submitted their site to a number of niche directories and other related websites. Your analysis will yield results you may have never thought of or would be unable to find using the "allin" or "in"
Google searches.

Please note that at the time of writing Google does not give a full report of backlinks for a website so my suggestion is to use either Yahoo or MSN if you want to get reliable backlink counts.

Resources:

Google's
Advanced Search Operators Explained

SEO Company Free Web Directory List - Almost 200 free web directories listed. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
Ebooks are part of the new frontier of cyberspace. They are an entirely new medium for sharing marketing information, ideas, techniques, and expert knowledge. Each day the number of people accessing the Internet grows, causing the exposure of your ebook to increase incrementally. It's obvious why electronic self-publishing has become so popular so quickly.

The publishing industry, I hope, does not intend to forever banish the printed word to the dustbin of history. Books in print have their own special qualities and merits, and the world would be diminished by their disappearance.

Having said that, let's look at what makes ebooks so important and so unique. Ebooks have certain abilities and qualities that other mediums do not possess.

For example, ebooks are fairly easy to produce, and their production cost is inexpensive. Just think about it: you don't need a publisher, an agent, a printing press, offset film, ink, paper, or even a distributor. You just need a great concept, the ability to write it or to hire a writer, and the right software.

Additionally, ebooks are easily and rapidly distributed online. They are also easily updated; they do not require a second print run. All you need is to go into your original creation and modify the text or graphics. Because of this flexibility, ebooks can change and grow as fast as you can type.

Ebooks are also immediately obtainable. You don't have to go to a bookstore or search through endless titles at an online bookstore. All you have to do is download it from a website, and presto! It's on your computer, ready to be read.

Ebooks are interactive. This is one of the most unique and specific qualities that ebooks offer. You can add surveys that need to be filled out, order forms for customers to purchase your products or goods, sound and video that draw your reader into the virtual world of your ebook, even direct links to relevant sites that will expand your ebook outward. The potential is virtually limitless.

Ebooks have a particular kind of permanence that other mediums do not possess. Television shows and radio shows air once, and then may rerun a few times. Ebooks remain on your computer for as long as your choose, and they can be read and reread whenever you choose to. They can even be printed out and stored on the shelves of your traditional home library.

Another wonderful quality is that ebooks have no barriers in terms of publishing. You don't need to go through the endless process of submitting your manuscript over and over again, and then once you land an agent, having the agent submit your manuscript over and over again. Nor do you have to shell out thousands of dollars for printing a self-published book. All ebooks require is a writer and appropriate software. Figure out your market, write your book, post it on your website, and with the right business savvy, your audience will come to you.

Finally, you have creative control over your ebook. You don?t have to compromise with an editor or the publishing trends of the time. You don't have to haggle with a designer or wait for copyedited galleys to arrive by snail mail. You are in complete control of the design and the text.
How to Use ebooks for Marketing and Promotion

There are innumerable ways to use ebooks to promote your business and drive quality traffic to your website. Once posted on your site, you can turn them into a daily course, which brings your customer back to read the next chapter. You can use them as a free gift for making a purchase or for filling out a survey. Put your ebook on a disc, and you will have an innovative brochure. Blow your competition away by inserting the disc into your sales packages.

The most effective marketing products are those that are unique.
Copyright your ebook, and immediately, you have a powerful tool that you, and you alone, can offer to the public. People will have to visit your site to acquire your ebook, which increases the flow of quality traffic and the potential of sales and affiliate contacts.

Make sure that you keep your ebook current. Update it frequently as the market and trends change. Add new advice and techniques to show your prospects how your goods or services can enrich their lives. By constantly keeping abreast of new trends and techniques, you can continue to see profits from your ebook for years after your original creation.

Another phenomenal advantage of ebooks is that you can test their marketing potential without putting out hardly any cash at all. You can even produce an ebook one copy at a time, each time you receive an order, eliminating the need for storage and inventory. By this method, you can gauge the saleablity of your ebook, and make adjustments as necessary until the orders start pouring in. Ebooks allow you to learn about your market and customer habits and motivation over a period of time, without risking your precious financial resources. They also provide you with an invaluable way to gather marketing information, which you can use in many different facets of your business.

Use your ebook to discover what the specific goals and problems are in your specific industry. Then figure out how to solve these problems, and publish an ebook with this invaluable information. This will increase the value of your business, upgrade your reputation, and get you known as an expert in your field.

You can extend the value of single ebook by breaking the book down into chapters for a serial course, into special reports available on your website, or into audio or visual tapes. Ebooks can be broken down into several different promotional materials by excepting some of the articles and using them to promote your product. You can include a catalog in your ebook to promote all the products or services you sell. You can include a thank-you note for reading your book and an invitation to download a trial version of your product. Or you can include a form for your audience to contact you for further information or with questions, thereby building your business relationships and your mailing list.

Using ebooks in this manner helps to cut the cost of individually producing separate promotional materials. You can use a single ebook to entice new prospects and to sell new products to your current customers.

No other medium has this kind of flexibility and ability for expansion. Think of your ebook like a spider spinning a beautiful and intricate web. Now go and create that web, and see how many customers and prospects you can catch!

About the author: Karen Walker assists individuals, entrepreneurs, network marketers, and independent professionals generate substantial incomes within 5 years so that they may live the life they want, fulfill their passions, and achieve their dreams! In fact, someone else whose ranking is lower than yours may be making a killing online with his products. How could that happen? With all other things being almost equal, good web design, good sales copy, quality products, it is highly probable the other person has an effective email marketing campaign set in place.

It is a so-called 'known secret' of successful online marketers that the lifeline of any Internet business is email marketing.

It brings longevity to your internet business. If you hope to make a long term living off your Internet business, you need to give serious thought to email marketing if you haven't done so.
I started off my Internet business without seeing the need for email marketing. I spent a lot of time on SEO. Then one day this question dawned upon me. What am I to do with the traffic that would show up at my door?

It is a known fact that not many people will buy your product or service on their first visit to your website. Yes, some may buy the products that you are promoting but the majority won't. The vast majority may never come this way again. You stand to lose substantial traffic in this way. Then what about those who bought something? How can they become your lifelong customers?

No wonder, successful online marketers have an effective follow-up system that allows them to touch base with their visitors. What better cost effective way to do so than through email.
4 Benefits of Email Marketing:

1. Gives visitors a personal touch to your online business. Email communication is the most cost effective way at present to touch base with your website visitors. In a highly impersonalized world of Internet marketing, simple personalized email communiqués can do wonders for your Internet business.

2. Allows you to build credibility and trust with your visitors. You can achieve this by offering short courses in the area of your expertise through email. The courses you offer must be relevant to the products or services you are promoting on your website.

For example, if you are promoting weight loss products, you may offer a short course like 30 days to lose weight. People are more disposed to buy your product or service if they gain confidence through the information you have provided.

3. Exposes visitors to your product or service.
Sales statistics reveal that most people need to be exposed to an offer 7 times or more before they buy. You have no way of exposing your products or services before your website visitors except through Email marketing.

4. Turns first time buyers into lifelong customers.
Email marketing is an effective way to update your customers of your latest products and services, and keep them posted of the latest developments in the business. This builds long term relationships with your visitors.

Follow-up with your customers immediately after they made a purchase with an offer of a free gift or special discounts on products that are related to what they have bought. This is good marketing practice. You will endear first time buyers to yourself, and turn them into lifelong customers.

After all been said, how to get visitors to leave behind their email address? Nobody will give something in exchange for nothing. Offer a free e-book, or software, or email course, or newsletter in exchange for your visitors' names and email addresses. This is by no means tricking people into giving their email address. In the first place, your visitors have some expressed interest when they came by your website. Your job is to continue to arouse their interest that they want to know more about what you have to offer them.

The list of names and email addresses you collect is called an opt-in list. With it you can touch base with your visitors without being accused of spamming. Follow-up with personalized email communiqué, offer relevant information and leads. Don't turn your email communiqué into one big sales letter. It puts people off. If they unsubscribe from your mailing list, it's your loss. Say goodbye to your potential customers.

You cannot maintain the number one spot at the Search engines all the time. Other webmasters will overtake you sooner or later. However, this does not diminish the importance of Search Engine Optimization. For long-term success, SEO and an effective email marketing campaign are needful.

About the author: Gerrick W - mailto:gw@1stinternetmarketingsolution.com
Information and Software Tools You Need to Effectively Promote Your Online Business. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

The methods employed to increase your search engine rankings may seem like rocket science to you, so you have probably avoided dealing with this issue. I am here to tell you - the time has come to face your website! A high search engine ranking for your website is so essential that if you have the slightest desire to actually succeed in your business, there is no way you can continue to avoid this issue.

At least 85% of people looking for goods and services on the Internet find websites through search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The idea of optimizing your pages for high search engine rankings is to attract targeted customers to your site who will be more than likely to make a purchase. The higher your page comes up in search engine results, the greater the traffic that is directed to your website. That's what search engine optimization is about.

You can immerse yourself in all the technical information available online to figure out how to optimize your web pages to achieve higher rankings. Or you can look at a few simple items on your pages, make some small adjustments, and most likely see improved rankings quite rapidly. The first item you should examine is the title bar on your homepage.

The title bar is the colored bar at the top of the page. Look at the words that appear there when you access your home page. To increase search engine rankings, the words on your homepage's title bar should include the most important keywords or phrases, one of which would include your company name.

Then click on all your links and examine the title bars on the pages you access. Each title bar on every single page of your site should contain the most important keywords and phrases taken from the page itself. However, avoid very long strings of keywords, keeping them to six words or less. Avoid repeating keywords more than once in the title bars, and make sure that identical words are not next to each other.

The next item to put under your microscope is your website content. Search engines generally list sites that contain quality content rather than scintillating graphics. The text on your site must contain the most important keywords - the words that potential customers will be typing into search engines to find your site.

Aim to have around 250 words on each page, but if this is not desirable due to your design, aim for at least 100 carefully chosen words. If you want to achieve a high ranking on search engines, this text is essential. However, the search engines must be able to read the text, meaning that the text must be in HTML and not graphic format.

To find out if your text is in HTML format, take your cursor and try to highlight a word or two. If you are able to do this, the text is HTML. If the text will not highlight, it is probably in graphic form. In this case, ask your webmaster to change the text into HTML format in order to increase your search engine rankings.

Next we come to what is called meta tags. I know this sounds like something out of science fiction, but it is really just simple code. Many people believe that meta tags are the key to high search engine rankings, but in reality, they only have a limited effect. Still, it's worth adding them in the event that a search engine will use meta tags in their ranking formula.

To find out if your page is set up with meta tags, you must access the code. To do this, click the "view" button on the browser menu bar, and select "source." This will pull up a window revealing the underlying code that created the page. If there are meta tags, they usually appear near the top of the window. For example, a meta tag would read: meta name="keywords"
content=. If you do not find code that reads like this, ask your webmaster to put them in. This may not do much for your search engine rankings, but any little boost helps.

Lastly, we come to the issue of link popularity. This is a factor that is extremely important in terms of search engine rankings. Almost all search engines use link popularity to rank your website. Link popularity is based on the quality of the sites you have linked to from your links page.

If you type in "free link popularity check" in a popular search engine, the search engine will then show you what sites are linked to your site. In the case that there aren't many sites linked up to yours, or that the sites that are linked up have low search engine rankings, consider launching a link popularity campaign. Essentially, this entails contacting quality sites and requesting that they exchange links with your site. Of course, this requires checking out the rankings of the websites you want to link up with. Linking to popular, quality sites not only boosts your search engine ranking, but it also directs more quality traffic to your website.

Search engine rankings are extremely important for a successful Internet marketing campaign. Before you go out and hire a search engine optimization company, try taking some of the simple steps listed above, and see if you can't boost your rankings yourself.
Don't ever ignore this all-important factor in Internet marketing. Remember, the higher your search engine ranking, the more quality customers will be directed your way.

About the author:
Karen Walker assists individuals, entrepreneurs, network marketers, and independent professionals generate substantial incomes within 5 years so that they may live the life they want, fulfill their passions, and achieve their dreams! You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
The advantage of gaining critical mass in a marketing strategy can never be over- emphasised....and "Manual Traffic Exchanges" can be the critical element to keep the wheel of your marketing strategy rolling.

It is happening with monotonous regularity that every newbie internet marketer wants results from "Day 1" and every pro marketer will vouch for the fact that they have undergone significant stresses and strains to reach where they have reached.

This prelude gives us an inkling of the position of manual traffic exchange users. A beginning is made with full gusto....and it is not long before the levels of motivation and enthusiasm come crashing down.

Here are some tips and tricks which will go a long way in making optimim utilisation of "Manual Traffic Exchanges" and bridging the gap between thory and practice.

1) Surf, surf and surf for at least a couple of months. Do not expect any results...because you seldom get them within two months.Patience is a virtue which is seldom practiced.

2) Do not make the mistake of including the URL of your internet opportunity on each and every manual traffic exchange you are participating....instead...use some of your traffic exchange affiliate links to derive the benefits of residual traffic in the long run.

3) Refer, refer and refer by cross promoting your affiliate link in Traffic Exchange A with Traffic Exchange B and so on.

4)Use "Splash pages" for promoting in "Manual Traffic exchanges"

5) Do not....please...do not use pop-ups and other distracting stuff to de-motivate your prospective downline in those precious 15-30 seconds he or she has a glimpse at your website. It's all to well to have them on the homepage of your website...but never put a pop-up on your splash pages...for all you know, the traffic exchange might reject your pop up splash page in the first place.

6) Use the magic of compounding which results in the power of residual traffic by building a good downline base.

7) Pick and choose your traffic exchanges and keep a note of the benefits offered. For example : a) Referral structure for earning downline credits b) Credits Ratio for own surfing c) Free credits and bonus for being an active member d)Ongoing contests e) Read between the lines.... A traffic exchange may give free bonus credits for reading emails sent to members or a traffic exchange may give bonus credits for surfing 25 websites daily. Just imagine the misfortune you are going through if you surf between 20-24 websites on that exchange everybody. Further, it is always better to actively refer members in those traffic exchanges offering at least 20% credits in two to three levels.

8)Use the option to transfer credits to potential downline members if they join under you. Many traffic exchanges offer this option either through the traffic exchange or from the member's area.

9)Get into swap deals with other traffic exchange members. Statistics tell us that a majority of traffic exchange members join traffic exchanges directly from the homepage. Do not commit the same mistake. Let's assume you are a member of Traffic Exchange A and you want to join Traffic Exchange B. It would benefit you greatly if you can post an offer in a forum you participate in that you are willing to join Traffic Exchange B under anyone who is willing to join under you in Traffic Exchange A. This is a win-win situation for both... you and the person you are doing the swap deal with.

10) Do use an affiliate link cloaker to get better response rates whenever you promote affiliate links. Use "Manual Traffic Exchanges" as a critical cog in the wheel of your marketing strategy. Do not commit the mistake of assuming that it is the wheel itself. Integrate other promotion methods like forums, safelists, blogs, rss feeds, search engine optimisation techniques, ezine advertisements, joint venturing with other webmasters, etc. The possibilities are endless. Use "your brain" ...and...."your common-sense" to catapult yourself to the top of the ladder of success.

To your success !!!

About the author: Jayadeep Rath is the founder of a manual traffic exchange - eatsleeptraffic.com and believes strongly in the power of manual traffic exchanges to make your marketing strategy go places. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
One of the most fantastic ways to increase the value of you own website is to use article submissions. There are many submission sites that will utilize RSS feed to send your article across the Internet universe and land on a web page somewhere.

What does that mean?

Well, if you utilize the Author's bio box or resource box effectively, you can create several links back to your site. I suggest using keyword rich anchor links as well as straight links. The reason being, that novice webmasters may not link properly, or the RSS Feeds may strip the HTML of the hyperlink anchor text.

One well written article can mean thousands of Links upon other sites. Those links are value toward your website in terms of Search Engine Rankings (SERPS) Googles Page Rank, and possible traffic from click through. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.
Link popularity is an important part of any search engine optimization or traffic building campaign. Having relevant backlinks to your website from other authority websites in your chosen keyword space is essential to achieve good rankings with the search engines. In many cases you will find that webmaster's require a link back to their website from your website before adding your URL to their links page.

If you currently update your links manually each time you have a link request or exchange to perform then you already know how much of a nightmare this can be. The use of an Automated Link Management system alleviates the pain of link building while providing a valuable resource to your website visitors.

Automating your Link Management

1. Purchase or find Link Management Software

-Free: www.phpjunkyard.com

-Paid: www.reciprocalmanager.com

2. Download link management software to your local hard drive.

3. Read the documentation included with the software package.

4. Create an empty MySQL database and user on your webserver. If you are unfamiliar with MySQL databases and/or you do not have a control panel from which you can create MySQL databases consider downloading and installing PHPMyAdmin .

5. Edit any configuration files or scripts to include the database information from step 3 if required.

6. Upload package files and scripts to a folder on your webserver. Name this folder; directory, resources or partners.

7. Edit file permissions on any files or scripts that require it. See your documentation for a list of files. Normally you will need to make some of the scripts or directories in the package "writable".

8. Run the installation script for your link management software and supply any required information. If you were not required to add your database information to one of the configuration files in step 5 you will need to enter it when prompted.

9. Log in to the "admin" panel for your new link management system and add 20-30 categories which are closely related to your website topic.

10. Edit the "look and feel" of your new directory to match the rest of your website.

11. Place a link to your directory on your home page and interior pages of your website.

You now have an automated link management system installed and linked to your homepage.

About the author: Mike Lawrence is the webmaster for a Directory of Website Promotion and Seo Resources. Housley to be useful. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

Instant Content; Converting a Text Article to a Podcast

We are taught to recycle paper, cans, bottles and plastic but marketers rarely discuss the value of repackaging and repurposing content. Publishers and marketers alike have embraced content syndication and RSS but few have considered the value beyond the actual syndication. Consider an alternative communication channel that reaches a new or different audience.

Repurposing and repackaging content or information so that it can be consumed through a variety of mediums is not a new concept. Many businesses today sight increased communication as a common goal. Cost conscious businesses with tight budges are often interested in minimizing work loads and cost, while increasing communication. By presenting the same information in different ways and formats, businesses are able to increase the reach and communication, while remaining cost conscious.

Businesses quickly found that power point presentations could be converted into technical articles, or forum posts could be ported to become a basis for a list of frequently asked questions. Along a similar vein webmasters have located a new advent in repurposed content is reusing text articles by converting them into audio podcasts.

The process is surprisingly simple, I personally found the prospect of reading the articles aloud and recording them, both intimidating and time consuming, hence I opted for a simplified approach. I found that by using two simple software applications, I was able to create a podcast in minutes.

The first obstacle, the creation of the audio file was conquered using NextUp's TextAloud program. I simply pasted in the text of an article selected a "voice" and saved the file as an MP3 file.

In under a minute I had an audio file containing the article.
After I had the MP3 file saved, I used FeedForAll's tutorial to create a podcast. The step by step tutorial ( http://www.feedforall.com/podcasting-tutorial.htm )laid out 12 simple steps to constructing a podcast. I found the quality of the constructed podcasts, using synthesized speech to text, surprisingly good.

Check out the following samples: RSS Podcast - http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-podcast.xml Software Marketing Podcast http://www.softwaremarketingresource.com/smr-podcast.xml

An evaluation version of TextAloud can be found at:
http://www.textaloud.com/ and an evaluation version of FeedForAll can be found at http://www.feedforall.com/ Experiment by repurposing and repacking existing content save time and money while increasing communication, distribution and exposure.

About the author:
About the Author: Sharon Housley manages marketing for FeedForAll http://www.feedforall.com/ software for creating, editing, publishing RSS feeds and podcasts. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

Do you need more targeted traffic to your website? Are you constrained by a limited budget? Here are three innovative ways to dramatically increase the number of visitors you receive.

1. Write Articles

We all know that the major search engines rank websites more highly if there are a lot of links pointing back to that particular web site. The search engines assume that the more links which point to you, the more important and relevent your site is.

Getting other sites to link to you can be a major chore, and you want to avoid free for all link farms, so what to do?

A lot of webmasters have begun to write articles which they allow other webmasters to freely display on their sites, so long as they provide a link back to the authors website. If you list your article in the major free content article directories, you can easily build up 500 to 5000 links back to your website. This boosts your PR rank, making you easier to find in the search engines, and you'll also get traffic from people who read your article and click on the link.

2. Banner exchanges

Banner exchanges can provide a steady stream of visitors if used correctly.

Most banner exchanges work like this - you display their banners on your website, and upload a banner of your own. For every 2 times you show an exchange banner, they'll show your banner once on another exchange member's site. Banner exchanges have been around a long time, but they still work.

3. Traffic Exchanges

Unlike banner exchanges, traffic exchanges are a fairly new idea. The basic premise is that a large group of website owners agree to visit each other's websites. for each member site you visit, another member will visit your site.

Some exchanges, like Traffic Swarm will give you multiple credits for each site you visit, and credits for each person you refer. It's possible to get thousands of new visitors each day.

Summary: There are many ways to get new traffic to your website. The three methods I outlined here are absolutely free.

About the author:
John Pierce is the webmaster for The Cheap Web Hosting Info Review.

Dealing with Forum Cliques - Ryan Royal

Webs 4 Christ Christian Web Hosting & Christian Web Site Design has found this great article by Ryan Royal to be useful. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

What is a forum clique?

Everybody will have their own definition of a clique, but the general concept is an exclusive group of members in your forums who are slow to welcome new members.

Why should I be concerned?

All visitors will read posts by these cliques, and this will in turn discourage many guests from ever registering and even discourage new members from saying hello. Sometimes when a new member will try to say hello, the veterans are quick to either ignore them or tell them they don't know what they're talking about. This is a nasty recipe for non-expansion.

What can I do?

Truthfully, this is one of the toughest problems you will ever face as a forum administrator. Disciplining these cliques is not easy because the members of the cliques are often close friends of staff. If you are too hard on the clique members, you risk losing them all together, which could be a serious hit for any community if the clique was at the root of the member base.

* Allow introductions

It is important that your new members can "break the ice" with ease. Create a section for introductions in which members can introduce themselves to the community and get to know the current members. The first post is often the hardest for many members, but if you make it easy for new registrants, this will not be the case.

* Staff friendliness (set an example)

Make it a point to all your administrators and moderators to welcome all new members and be very willing to fulfill any requests. Never let a post from a new member go unanswered. Your staff represents your forums; if your staff is not welcoming, do not expect your members to be.

* Employ non-clique members

Find a regular member in the forums who is well respected, but not a part of the clique. Ask this person to inadvertantly "break up" any clique-like discussions. Odds are, the members of the clique will respect this person, ultimately ending these personal discussions.

* Interviews

Each week, pick a random new member and interview him or her with interesting questions. Once finished, post this interview in public as to expose your clique members to your new members.
Often times, your clique members will become interested in these new members and will want to find out more about them.

* Personal contact

Contact each member of the clique one by one and explain the problem. Explain to them how it is harming the community, and ask that they please refrain from doing so. You might be surprised to find that your members never even realized what they were doing.

* Keep clique discussions in private

Some owners will create a forum dedicated to these clique-like discussions, as to hide them from the public. Unfortunately this will often prove to not solve the problem completely, as your veterans will still find time to slip in their inside jokes to the public eye.

* Punishment

If worse comes to worst, you might be forced to suspend members of the clique. Be very careful doing this, as you do not want to risk losing them in the long run.

* Privacy is important

Try your hardest to keep this clique controversy out of public eye, as it leaves a bad impression on new members if they see your veterans are not even enjoying themselves. If you must make your point in public, do so once in a very short manner. Leave the rest to private and instant messengers.

Does anything good come of cliques?

Subtle cliques here and there are definitely good and encouraged in many communities. You want your potential members to see that your veterans enjoy themselves in your community, but you also need your potential members to feel welcome to join in. Do not encourage clique discussion at the expense of new members. Find an appropriate balance where your members can both have fun while welcoming new members to do the same.

Your task

Remember, your role as an admin is like that of a host to a party. Your job is to keep everyone happy and provide help when needed. If only part of your community is happy, you are not doing your job somewhere. Ask your members (both old and new) what you can do to make their stay more enjoyable - and act on this! Finally, remember that you are a community. All communities will naturally have individual groups, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Do not, however, allow these groups to become noninviting and exclusive.

About the author:
Owner and administrator of www.adminfusion.com, Ryan Royal has been in the forum business since 2002, and as such, has much experience under his belt.

AdminFusion a community dedicated to the helping, assisting, and sharing of ideeas between forum administrators and moderators.

What Do You Look For When Tracking Your Visitors? - David Callan

Webs 4 Christ Christian Web Hosting & Christian Web Site Design has found this great article by David Callan to be useful. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

Many online entrepreneurs are increasingly realizing that tracking & analysing their traffic can make all the difference for their business. In simple terms, trying to market your business online without tracking your visitor is like trying to drive a car in total darkness.

With the high number of tracking tools available online these days, there is really no excuse for anybody failing to track their visitors to find out where their traffic is coming from and what visitors are doing on your website.

But even for those tracking their website traffic, the question is how do they analyse their tracking data and does the information really benefit them and their marketing efforts?

Do you know how all your visitors found you? Most site owners are delighted to receive traffic from a new source. However, few will bother to find out conclusively how their link ended up at the referring site in the first place.

The whole question as to how your visitors found you is so important that it is worth trying to gather as much information as possible. The answer will be very important in helping you do an even better job of getting more traffic to your site.

For example if a webmaster decided to post one of your free articles on their site, it is very useful to know why they picked your article over the hundreds of other possible articles about this topic. This little piece of information alone can help you get a major breakthrough in your marketing efforts.

Do you look for trends in your unique visitors? What are the general trends at your site concerning unique visitors? Is traffic heavy at particular times, days, weeks or months? And if so, why? Actually, like most research findings it should lead you to ask even more questions and endeavour to answer them.

Many times, particular trends have helped businesses develop new products as well as find valuable new market niches for their existing products and services. Even answers that may appear to be obvious need to be verified.

Do you use your findings to constantly test your website? Would you like to know the real secret behind those highly successful online entrepreneurs? What sets them apart from the rest who struggle all the way? It is actually something so simple and so obvious that most people miss it, even when it is staring them in the face.

The difference is that those really successful businesses are constantly improving by introducing little changes all the time that individually may make very little difference, but put together helps the business grow in huge leaps and bounds. You will be absolutely amazed at how frequently leading marketers are testing new things online. They will test anything, from using certain headlines to colors and design. And a lot of these tests emerge from analysing the tracking data of their website traffic.

The information you generate from monitoring your website traffic will only be useful if you put it to use by constantly testing and improving your business on the base of your data.

What content or articles are the most popular at your site? This seemingly obvious one is missed most of the time. But why is it important to find your most popular content on a regular basis?
Content is at the heart of what your site is. Visitors come to your site because of the content. Popular content will tell you a lot of things about your traffic. Including what interests your visitors the most. This will go a long way in helping you to adjust the content of your site so that you give your visitors more of what they want.

In essence a successful site is one that constantly evolves in response to customer needs and requirements. So how do you do this when you are not monitoring what your visitors like the most at your site? How will you evolve without constant and regular analysis of your tracking data?

Tracking data is at the heart of your success. Analyzing and responding to traffic data from your site is at the heart of successful web sites. It is a task that is critical and very important. It is an opportunity that you cannot care to miss out on and one with enormous rewards for you and your site.

Article by David Callan. You can find this article, as well as over 900 other articles helpful to webmasters in our free webmaster tools area.

Content is King! shout the search engines. That's what the search engines love. We also love the non-reciprocal links that we get for our websites when our articles are published on other peoples' sites with our resource boxes dutifully appended below them.

To create a well written article takes time and effort. We have to get everything right: it has to be of relevance to the reader in that subject field; it has to be well researched; all spelling, punctuation and grammar must be correction; it has to be a genuine contribution to that particular area of specialization, and so interesting that the editor will jump at the chance of publishing it. And, oh yes, all the right keywords have to be there, of the right density and in the correct proportions.

The well-crafted article must satisfy both the reader and the bot; both the aesthetics of the eye and the strictures of the code. So those of us who try and be at least a little bit serious about things know that a second draft is always necessary, and then a third. Then it's best to sleep on it. Even after that, we know that we have to forget about it for a few days until we are able to come back to it again with a freshly critical mind. You prune it and nurture it. You take off the sharp edges and you tighten it up. If necessary you know when you have to tear it up and start over again.

Only after we have got it absolutely right - and then after spending many hours submitting to directories, editors of ezines, article announcement sites and individual webmasters - are we rewarded, perhaps, with those hard-won non-reciprocal inbound live hyperlinks.

But wait. There seems to be a problem. It appears that an increasing number of people are quite happy to simply copy and paste our work onto their own sites without a link back. Or they don't bother to check if the link is 'live'.

That would be bad enough. But there are other people who print our articles and then don't even bother to name the person who wrote it.

But there's far worse: those people who print our article and then announce to the world that they wrote it themselves! Some of those even have the temerity to add the copyright sign next to their name!

I may be being a bit too harsh. Perhaps these people don't realize that they're doing anything wrong. After all, the Internet was originally conceived as ownerless and based upon free and open source information. And I can think of nothing more Public Domain, in fact or in spirit, than the World Wide Web.

Yet just consider what it is these people are doing. They are stealing other peoples' work and passing it off as their own.
They are effectively also stealing the web traffic that goes with it, the traffic that our labours should be rewarding our websites with, and diverting it to their own. This is blatant plagiarism. It just should not happen. Theft is theft, in whatever medium.

I wrote an article a few months ago on Internet marketing for small businesses. A search for the title of that article on Google now returns 10,800 pages, so at least the title itself has been reproduced that number of times and in that number of different places. A search for a chunk of text from the middle of the article returns 536 pages, which suggests that the article text has been published in its entirety no fewer than
536 times. Great! So now I have 536 inbound links from that one article! Wrong.

I looked at individual entries of the article and in a surprising number of cases there were no backlinks at all. Also surprising - and somewhat sickening - was the number of individuals who wantonly attached their own names to my work.

I recently posted the same article to a fresh source of publishers. I was astonished at the response of one editor of a well-known directory who had rejected the article on the grounds that it was not mine! She had seen the same piece on many other websites under different names, she said, and it was not her policy to publish work that had been produced using "cookie cutter" techniques. I wrote back saying that it really was my own work, citing the URL of SitePro News where it originally aired as that day's headline feature. She apologized and was even good enough to supply me with a list of names of people and sites who had published it as their own. I'm so tempted to publish their names here (perhaps I will on my blog; so watch
out!) but have decided that discretion should rule. For the moment, at least.

But I think there is a clear message here. The fashion for article writing and publishing for content and backlinks is going through the roof at the moment. It's like a mini Internet boom all of its own. And like any other boom it has attracted its own inevitable pack of rat-racers, chancers, charlatans and cheats; shysters who go for the shortcuts every time, while remaining quite happy for other people to do their work for them.

For the record, the convention is this: distribute and publish the article freely by all means. But it must be published in its entirety and unedited, and MUST include the resource box with a live hyperlink back to the author's site (or wherever the author wants, for that matter).

Hey, now even my lawyer understands!

Next time I will publish their names gleefully, and be damned.

About the author:
Gordon Goodfellow is an Internet marketing practitioner who lives and works in London, UK. Many spyware tools available are free and those up for purchase typically do not exceed $30 to $40. Anti-spyware tools will greatly assist in protecting yourprivacy and restoring full computer functions that spyware may have taken over.

Spyware gets into your computer and invades users’ privacy. Individuals or companies install spyware when you download freeware or visit certain web sites so they may track your internet habits and find personal information such as passwords, email addresses and even credit card and bank account numbers. By eliminating these applications from running on your computer you will restore your privacy and you should notice a much more efficient computer system because spyware uses up its resources.

Finding a good spyware tool can be difficult because of seemingly endless list of programs. Researching online and reading reviews can help you decide which one is best for your situation. The member makes money by
watching the advertisements in a surf rotation, and makes a
commission from doing so.

In most of these programs, the member also makes an income from
telling others about it, and they then can sign up, using the
member's referral link.

Do members have to actually open the advertised sites, or just
watch them appear?

In some current surf for money programs, the advertised sites do
not necessarily have to be viewed, however the catch is there
are oftentimes sites of interest that may not be a nuisance to
learn from - or be entertained by.

With more advanced scripting in use, viewers are given the
option of opening any site of interest in another window while
not losing their place in the site rotation so the quota for the
day can be reached.

Auto-surf is a new option in some control panel menus that allow
the member to "visit" websites with a new site automatically
loading every 20 seconds. No clicking involved.

After the member has finished surfing, the member's page is
refreshed manually and credit is placed on his/her account.
Depending on the level of investment, more or less sites must be
surfed involving more or less time of the member.

Reputable surf for money or surf for cash programs disallow
pornographic sites or those utilizing pop-ups or abusive
language.

How is the Surf For Money Member Paid?

Often these programs use third-party gateway payment systems
such as Paypal and still others use an in-house payment
processor.

Additional Surf for Money Concepts

Members who have their own commercial interests to promote can
also accrue advertising "credits" towards free "hits" for other
surfers in the same program to visit. This allows people to
advertise their sites to an audience of potential customers for
free or at a low cost. When a site is listed, it can be placed
into a rotation system. There's also the option to buy more
credits and banner ads.

But Are Surf For Cash Programs For You?

It can't be denied that anything associated with referral
marketing has been given a bad name because of greedy
administrators and even greedier users who try to spam the
system in one's favor. In fact, one popular surf for money
program has been in internet news for failure to process
pay-outs. (Sorry, it can't be listed for legal reasons).

However, the concept of surf for money is solid and when
properly employed can earn a member a few coins. Especially if
the integrity of the company is sound - but remember that
principle applies to any business venture.

The popularity and feedback from enthusiastic users of surf for
money programs attests to its potential and has helped more than
some meet their advertising goals. And reputable surf for cash
companies allow a money back guarantee. The Terms and Conditions
are to protect both parties and to ensure everyone knows what
their obligations are.

So there you have it! If there's no investment and the risk is
low, perhaps surf for money is for you.

About the author:
Reggie Andersen is a prolific writer, author and speaker.
