Controversial talk show host makes stop in Columbia, S.C.

Controversial talk show host, Glenn Beck will be appearing at the Village at Sandhill Books-A-Million 164 Forum Drive, Columbia, South Carolina from 6:00-7:00 pm. to sign his New York Times best seller, Arguing with Idiots.

Locally Beck's radio program is offered on 560 WVOC each weekday from 9:00-12:00 noon. Becks Television show is carried on Fox News weekdays from 5:00-7:00 pm.

John McCain 'angry' over Afghanistan delay

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Thursday that he is “angry” and “disappointed” with President Barack Obama for delaying his decision on increasing troop levels in Afghanistan.

“The fact is we already have men and women over there, and the longer we delay in sending them the needed resources they need the greater danger they are in,” McCain said during an interview on Fox News’ Fox & Friends program. “That’s just a fundamental fact of warfare and so I’m past being a bit angry.”

“I’m disappointed that we haven’t made the decision,” he said.

Obama is currently weighing whether to adopt Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s recommendation of adding 40,000 troops to the conflict in Afghanistan, and has been accused of “dithering” over the decision by former Vice President Dick Cheney and other Republicans.

McCain said Thursday that he hopes the president “will make the right decision soon” and stressed that “half measures won’t work.”

“The fact is that every day you delay will be another day before they get there,” he said. “I just hope the president will make the right decision soon. I intend to support him when he does.”

Republican Dede Scozzafava announced Saturday that she is suspending her campaign in the Nov. 3 House special election in New York, a dramatic development that increases the GOP's chances of winning the contentious and closely-watched race.

"In recent days, polls have indicated that my chances of winning this election are not as strong as we would like them to be. The reality that I've come to accept is that in today's political arena, you must be able to back up your message with money—and as I've been outspent on both sides, I've been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record,” she said in a statement.

“It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican.”

Senator DeMint wants term limits in Congress

Senator DeMint of South Carolina will soon be introducing a constitutional amendment that will limit members of Congress to three terms (six years) in the House of Representatives and two terms ( 12 years) in in the United States Senate. After serving ten years in the Senate, Senator DeMint said he has come to believe that Washington D.C. "has the power to corrupt even those with the most honorable intentions" He further related that, career politicians ended up, "beholden to special
interests, lobbyists, and big government policies."

The Senator's rational for term limits appears to be directed at the need for politicians to start campaigning for the next election shortly after they are elected in the House and following four years in the Senate. By doing so, career politicians spend much of their time campaigning rather than legislating. DeMint believes that by imposing term limits congress will be filled with an ever changing skill set of new ideas and fresh perspectives in congress. Term limits he says, "will keep politicians in-tune with their constituents and less focused on pleasing those who promise to help get them re-elected."

According to US Term Limits (USTL) Term limits have been placed on 15 state legislatures, eight of the ten largest cities in America adopted term limits for their city councils and/or mayor, and 36 states place term limits on their constitutional officers. USTL states, “We are the voice of the American citizen. We want a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, not a tyrannical ruling class who care more about deals to benefit themselves, than their constituents.”

Is Senator Lindsey Graham out of touch with South Carolina?

Conservative South Carolinians have a love/hate relationship with Senator Lindsey Graham. On the one hand, he opposes Abortion rights, support gun rights, and votes ninety-two percent of the time with Senate Republicans. While he was a Congressman from the South Carolina's third district, he had a strong conservative record in the House supporting the Republican 'contract with America and voting for several articles of impeachment for then President Bill Clinton.

On the other hand, the eight percent of the time he votes with Democrats is where conservatives have serious problems. A few examples: Graham recently aligned himself with Senator John Kerry (D-MA) on climate change legislation and co-authored a New York Times Op-Ed entitled, “Yes We Can (Pass climate change legislation)”. In March 2009, Graham voted with moderate Republicans for Cap and Trade that could cost South Carolinians up to two-thousand dollars a year in additional outlays. He voted with Democrats for Supreme Court Nominee Sonya Sotomayor who made statements about actively legislating from the bench and sat on a committee that pressed for state funding of abortions. He aligned with McCain/Kennedy on the Immigration Reform Bill. Graham is in talks about the possibility of nationalizing banks. Lastly, He was a member of the, “Gang of Fourteen” that intervened when Democrats tried to filibuster a vote on Supreme Court Justice Roberts.

Nielsen: Fox News ratings up almost 10% since WH declared war

Since the White House 'war on Fox' began two weeks ago, Fox News ratings are up nine percent. Pundits from the left and the right advised the White House that an attack on a news organization would only backfire. It appears the pundits were right.

This week, when Fox was excluded from the interview schedule, the other networks protested. The reason may be out of honor for the first amendment or self presurvation as the same treatment could be afforded them if they don't hold the Obama policy line.

It’s a nine-percent bump in the two weeks since Anita Dunn’s whine heard ’round the world — in terms of overall audience. Among the coveted 25-54 demographic? A 14-percent bump. Good work, Barry. People keep telling me that this PR offensive by the White House benefits both sides but I don’t see how that’s true. If the goal is to contain Fox by framing the stories it breaks — Van Jones, ACORN, etc — as somehow illegitimate, then every tenth of a point that Fox’s ratings go up undermines that goal.

South Carolina Senators have differing View points on how the Republcian party should more forward. Senator Graham wants to expand the party to moderates, while Senator DeMint wants to focus on the Conservative base. A recent poll points out that sevety three percent of conservatives think the Republican party is out of step with their values. Additional the Gallup organization reports that those who identify themselves as conservtives have grown since the Presidential election in 2008.

Graham, a Seneca Republican elected to his second term last year, says the party must stop alienating young people and Hispanics and start promoting pragmatic, “center-right solutions” to the country's most pressing problems.

Stephen Harper, the piano man and economic manager, is making Canadians so comfortable they want to see him win a majority government, according to a new national public opinion poll.

The EKOS Research survey conducted for the CBC shows that the Conservatives' substantial lead over Michael Ignatieff's Liberals is solidifying – a lead that now has the Tories knocking on the door of a majority government.

According to EKOS, the Tories now enjoy 40.7 per cent support compared to 25.5 per cent for the Liberals, 14.3 per cent for the NDP, 10.5 per cent for the Green Party and 9.1 per cent for the Bloc.

MONTREAL - A complete smoking ban in penitentiaries has turned hardcore lifers into jittery, sweet-eating blobs, according to a picture painted by a lawyer who argued Wednesday in federal court that the inmates should at least be allowed to smoke outside.

Julius Grey, who is representing 19 prisoners, including some of Quebec's most notorious murderers and gang leaders, said that prison life is hard enough without having to give up what is still a socially acceptable behaviour.

"It's dangerous to think that because someone has been convicted, they should suffer more," Grey said outside the courtroom.

Ever wonder where all this food and monetary aid is going? Has anyone ever checked the Swiss Bank accounts of these despot dictators to find out how in the hell did they amass a great fortune once in power, yet before taking power, they did not have a pot to piss in monetarily?

Now ask yourself, how come we have countless questions to which no one can answer? Answers that despots need to provide before we hand out billions of aid dollars which do not seem to be getting to the starving masses it was intended for.

They say cut the head off the snake to eliminate the problem, I say withhold all western aid till the despots are overthrown from power, as no aid money means no food or weapons for their armies. One thing we all know is the armies the world over march on their bellies, and without food those armies will soon revolt or walk away from the despots. Then and only then will we see a change. Many will say in the meantime while we wait for a change of government, millions will die. I say to that, they already are!

Report: Insurance Rates to Soar under Senate Health Care

Over the weekend, America’s Health Insurance Plans circulated a study it commissioned from Price Waterhouse Coopers. In a memo to AHIP members, reproduced here, president Karen Ignani explained its significance:The report makes clear that several major provisions in the current legislative proposal will cause health care costs to increase far faster and higher than they would under the current system.

The report finds that the proposal “will increase premiums above what they would increase under the current system for both individual and family coverage in all four market segments for every year from 2010-2019. For example, the analysis shows that the cost of the average family policy is approximately

$12,300 today and will rise to: –$15,500 in 2013 under current law and to $17,200 if these provisions are implemented.

–$18,400 in 2016 under current law and to $21,300 if these provisions are implemented.

–$21,900 in 2019 under current law and to $25,900 if these provisions are implemented.

It's about friggin time, course in 1999 the deportation levels were low as the Liberal Party in late 1998-1999 were in power during this time, perhaps the Liberals under Prime Minister Chretien were too busy getting al-qaeda terrorists out of prison to bring home to Canada. The Elder Ahmed Said Khadr family comes to mind as just one example, once he was safely back in Canada, he brings his whole family back to Afghanistan, where he is gunned down, along with his kids, with Omar Khadr surviving and being sent to Gitmo, while his older brother now needs a wheelchair ramp if he ever decides to do anymore terrorist activities. This refugee system is a farce where the well heeled can fly to Canada from their homeland costing thousands of dollars in airfare, flush their passports and identification enroute down the airplanes toilet, arrive in Canada and then make Customs and Immigration play a guessing game where these so called refugees are from? Cause god knows these refugees ain't telling them, cause if they did, their asses would be on the next plane out!
Refugees are just that, living in camps with no money and little food, these people who fly here with cash in hand are asylum seekers and economic opportunists.

MONTREAL - Federal documents indicate deportations from Canada have skyrocketed more than 50 per cent in the last decade.

Statistics obtained under the Access to Information Act show the country deported more than 12,700 people last year - compared with about 8,300 in 1999. About three-quarters of those getting the boot are failed refugee claimants. Refugee advocates fear many of them are being sent home to torture and persecution because of a flawed asylum system.

A Calgary operator of a marijuana grow-op who preyed on new immigrants and was the source of some pot sent to Toronto has won a legal victory in his fight to stay in Canada.

De Bing Li, 38, of Vietnam, was jailed for 16 months in February 2006 after pleading guilty to production of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

FOUR HOMES

He was one of four men charged in August 2004 after Calgary police raided four homes used for marijuana growing operations and seized more than 2,000 plants with an estimated street value of $2.5 million.

Ontario’s transportation minister was surprised by the first charge laid in the province against a trucker for smoking in his rig but the province’s health promotion minister hopes the incident will help convince more people to butt out.

Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a truck on Highway 401 near Windsor on Wednesday when the driver was seen smoking.

Police handed out a $305 ticket because the truck is his workplace and smoking is prohibited at all workplaces in Ontario.

That’s the way the law is supposed to work, said Health Promotion Minister Margarett Best.

Canadian researchers decode breast cancer tumour DNA

Certainly a News Breaking Discovery, one wonders if a Nobel Prize would be in order. I would think Millions of Women the world over would think so, now that this is Breast Cancer Month.

The finding brings researchers unprecedented information about how breast cancer progresses and shows that the disease is a moving target that often changes the way it operates.

"I never thought I would see it in my lifetime," co-principal investigator Dr. Samuel Aparicio, head of the agency's breast cancer research program, said of the discovery.

The research is the cover story in this week's issue of the prestigious journal Nature.

Researchers with the B.C. Cancer Agency say they made their discovery after decoding the entire genome of a patient's metastatic breast cancer and finding all the genome's mutations.

Again, more studies being done, which fly in the face of other studies leave many of us to believe or should I say not believe anything and everything in the medical and health profession. Currently a study done now states Antioxidents can increase your diabetes risk, yet previous studies showed a cure all from everything from Cancer, Diabetes to baldness. Come on, taxdollars paid for some of this research has many wonder "Are you Friggin Acedemic not on the same goddamn page?" Some studies said Eggs are Good, Some Say Eggs are Bad, Some say Wine is Good, some says it is Bad, the same goes for Probiotics in yogurt, some say this is bad as well. Jesus Christ People, either figure it out or get into another line of work! Is it any wonder they will never find a cure for Cancer and other serious Diseases when these Research Morons can't seem to get anything right, yet go straight to publication!

I think we should go back to the old Health Canada Food Guide from the 1960s and 1970s and follow that, cause it looks like this is where all this research is heading anyways!

"In the case of early type 2 diabetes ... our studies suggest that antioxidants would be bad for you," Tony Tiganis of Monash University in Australia, whose study appears in the journal Cell Metabolism, said in a statement.

Antioxidants are protective proteins that can prevent cell damage caused by charged particles known as reactive oxygen species. This oxidative stress is thought to add to the progression of several diseases, including type 2 diabetes.

Damn straight the Refugee system is broken, when many who claim refugee status are more opportunistic and take full advantage of Canada's Generous Welfare System to the tune of a forecasted $82.4 Million dollars just in one of our 10 provinces alone. Multiply that cost by 10 provinces and you can see how crushing a debt taxpayers are forking out almost a billion dollars a year.

Time to close up shop and send these shoppers packing whence they come from, with many coming from the USA via Mexico and other areas around the world. The old flush their passport down the toilet cannot wash anymore so we cannot know which country you came from and cannot send you back doesn't wash, I put it this way, if the plane you came on is identified, that is the plane you go back on.

Third World Toilet Regimes needs to get taken over and democratic governments to be put in place, if not, all foriegn aid will stop immediately. Then those to useless to make a difference in their own country will either perish or fight for a better life, instead of whining for us in the West to do their fighting for them.

OTTAWA — Canada’s refugee system is broken, with unacceptably long delays to determine whether someone is a legitimate refugee, says Immigration Minister Jason Kenney.

Testifying before a Parliamentary committee Tuesday, Kenney said he is working on plans to overhaul the system and hopes to introduce the changes before Christmas.

“This is a broken system and it needs to be streamlined,” Kenney told MPs, saying he wants to weed false claimants out quickly so Canada can do more to help those who truly need asylum.

Kenney promised refugees will still get an oral hearing before a decision maker and he suggested the IRB, which now makes the primary decision on refugee claims, could hear appeals.

The decision will not be made by Canada Border Services officers at points of entry, he said.

Kenney said the backlog of refugee claims had reached 61,000 by the end of June 2009. The Immigration and Refugee Board can only hear up to 25,000 asylum claims a year, and unsuccessful claimants can end up spending years in Canada before they exhaust all possible appeals.

From 1959 through the seventies Consumer advocate Ralph Nader went after the automobile industry for safety issues in American vehicles. He wrote, “The Safe Car You Can’t Buy” and “Unsafe at Any Speed.” In these articles he blamed General Motors. Lawsuits prevailed and General Motors was ruled to be responsible for the dangers of the automobiles.

If an assembly line worker accidentally punctured a gas tank duringinstallation on a GM vehicle, who would the courts find responsible? General Motors? Yes, GM would be ultimately responsible for the actions of it’s assembly line workers.

In comparison, when workers at several offices offer inappropriate advise to a Prostitute and Pimp on how to falsify tax documents, set up a fraudulent business, and help establish a means to financially benefit from underage illegals as dependents. Who is responsible?

In addition, when workers in several states falsify voter registration documents. Today, the Atlas Shrugs Blog had an exclusive interview with a former ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, worker, who admits that the organization encouraged throwing out Voter registrants who marked that they wanted to register as ‘Republican’ in the garbage. Who is responsible?

According to Bertha Lewis, CEO of ACORN, it is the individuals at fought as the problems are not systemic in nature. What?

I am sure, beyond doubt, that Bertha Lewis would have joined Ralph Nader in going after General Motors for individual assembly line failures on automobiles manufactured between 1959 and the late seventies. In fact, Lewis has gone after many companies for just that, individual failure within an organization. So why, isn’t ACORN responsible for its own internal and individual failures?
