New 2009 Whistler PRO-78SE's have arrived!

After a long wait the highly anticipated Whistler PRO-78SE's have arrived. These are on backorder everywhere but we have them in stock and ready to ship. For 2009 the PRO-78's have been refreshed with a new look and improved KA sensitivity.

PRO-78SE's now also include 2 additional fuctions (RSID) Exclusive Radar Signature ID which will displays known Ka gun frequencies which will help users sort real and possible false KA alerts. (LSID) Exclusive Laser Signature ID which displays Pulses Per Second (PPS) of the received laser signals and gives you the ability to lockout certain false laser alerts.

New 2009 Cobra Radar Detectors

The new 2009 Cobra Radar Detectors are starting to hit our shelves, We have in stock the new XRS-9955, XRS-9945, XRS-9845, XRS-9745, and the rest of the new models should be in stock early next week.

Cobra now considers their detectors 15 Band radar detectors, Up from 12 Bands in 2008. The newer 2009 models will now also alert you to Spectre IV (RDD's) and two new laser guns (STALKER LIDAR+ & SPEEDLASER +)

Another change is the XRS-9845 & XRS-9945 can now also be connected to the optional GPSL Antenna to alert you to Red Light & Fixed Camera locations.

No date yet on the XRS-9960G, Which is just a bundle of the XRS-9955 & GPSL Antenna.

December Gift Certificate Winner

In December instead of choosing a radar detector to give away we decided to just give out a $300 Best Radar Detectors gift certificate. The December winner was John Carlson from MA. For January we will be going back to giving away a radar detector which will be the Beltronics V995 which sells for $249.95

Whistler XTR-695 Radar Detector

Well, The long wait is over... The Whistler XTR-695's are finally here. Over the past year whistler has been trying to improve their detectors with some re-engineering and its working. We now rate the Whistler's top 3 detectors (XTR-690, Pro-78 and new Whistler XTR-695) as our top picks under $200.

The Whistler XTR-695 adds some cool features:

1. Selective Multi Color Display... This is a neat feature and not only can you change the display colors to better match your car interior but you can select certain colors for different bands. If you want X band alert to display in Blue and a KA to alert it red its up to you and there are 7 colors to choose from.

2. Ka Band & Laser Signature Id - During a laser alert the Whistler XTR-695 will display the pulse rate of the laser gun being used. You will have the capabilty to block certain pulse rates which is especially useful if you have ever travelled past an airport and experienced the constant false laser alerts that are caused from some of the airport tracking equipment.

More info will come as we play with this new detector and we will do a full review after a month or so.

Ok, We just realized we have not posted in a while so lets get up to date. Past monthly drawing winners were posted on the site but not on the blog.

In January we gave away 2 Cobra XRS-9930 Radar Detectors. One winner was David Dooley from Texas and the other was Lisa McLean from Illinois.

In February we gave away a brand new Escort 9500i Blue Version to Jay Stine from California.

In March we gave away one of the brand new Beltronics RX65 Blue Version to Andy Lalancette from Canada.

December Winner

Ok, we have tried to create a monthly giveaway and we have been running into many obsticles due to customers that are adding people they know to our give away list without letting their friends and family know they are doing it. This is creating many issues for us and it is making this giveaway very difficult to maintain. Contacting winners have been a very difficult task since we have been having issues with ISP's automatically blocking our emails as spam. Once we choose a winner we email them and they have 7 days to respond to claim the prize. If we do not receive a response we have to choose another winner and it becomes time consuming.

Why are we having this issue? There are many folks that are not happy with just entering themselves into the giveaway, They are entering all their friends and families email addresses as well. When their friends and family receive the confirmation email that we send out they report our emails as spam since they did not sign up to receive anything from us... This causes the ISP's to mark our emails as spam and folks that did sign up might not get a winning notification because of this.

From this point forward only one email address is allowed per IP address. If the same IP address submits multiple email addresses ALL email address will be voided and none will be entered into the give away.

It took almost 3 weeks to find a winner for Decembers drawing. The winner of the Beltronics RX65 was Michael Rubinstein from TN. For January we have already choosen 2 winners and both with receive Cobra 9930 Radar Detectors. As soon as we receive a reply from the 2 winners which were emailed we will post their information.

October & November Winners

Sorry for the late post, We were very busy during the holidays and things are finally calming down. The October Winnder for the Cobra XRS-R9G was Emanuel Hernandez from Florida and the November winner for the Cobra XRS-R7 was Edward Gillespie from Canada. Edward being from Canada opted for a credit towards a Beltronics STi Driver since its a better choice for our Canadian friends. The December winner will be posted after we get back from CES next week checking out the new products that will be coming out soon.

PNI Traveller II's are back...

Some time ago the PNI Traveller II was a very sort after unit since it offered very good protection for a lower priced detector. The Traveller II's were discontinued last year when PNI Corp decided that they no longer wanted to be in the radar detector business. At that time we ran many backorders while we searched distribution to try and find any distributors that might have any stock leftover before we had to cancel the backorders.

Good news is that Q3I Innovations LLC took over PNI's radar detector line and the Traveller II's as well as other familiar detectors such as the Silver Bullets are back. What sets this manufacture apart from the other manufactures is that they only produce cordless radar detectors. Most of the time do to power issues the perfomance on cordless detectors suffer but their detectors still manage to perform well on battery power.

If you are looking for a cordless detector they are definately worth a look. Check out the new Q3I products here!

New Cobra Cobra XRS-R7 & XRS-R9G Wireless Detectors

Cobra recently introduced 2 new products to their offerings the XRS-R7 & XRS-9RG wireless radar detectors. These two new detectors offer equal performace to their current top of the line windshield mounted radar detectors. The XRS-R7 & XRS-9RG are the same exact unit except the XRS-9RG adds a GPS antenna which allows the unit to alert you to red light / speed camera's using a free database of compliled data that Cobra provides for free.

These units are not like standard cordless radar detectors that just run off of AA Batteries or Rechargable batteries. These units have a main radar detector unit that needs to be hard wired into your electrical system using an included hard wire kit.

The wireless portion of this detector is the Intellilink Remote Display unit which looks like a small remote control with a graphic LCD display. This wireless remote offers the controls and the screen to display the radar detectors information.

We have been testing this unit and it appears to be a decent detector for its price. if you live in an area where red light cameras are popping up all over the place and want some notification of these locations the XRS-9RG might do the trick. What we do like is that Cobra offers this camera data for free unlike many companies that charge fee's to get these updates. Updating the GPS unit took only a few seconds with a quick download from Cobra's website.

As we do more testing we will post more information. We currently have this unit installed in one of our vehicles and after some time we will report back our findings. If you are not a handy person and do not want to pay for an installation since it does need to be hard wired into your electricial system, but want the GPS functions you might want to look at the Escort 9500i windshield mounted detector. It is priced higher but does offer better radar performance.
