My family decided to visit New Jersey for our vacation. We planned to have fun in different perspective, at the same time we wanted it to be at one place. This led us to choose Wildwood amusement park, the best family resort and family beach vacation for years. They are best known for their weekly specials. They have different event on each day and at the same time they are available at low fares. We exactly stayed for a week and especially enjoyed on magical monday as we got a random gift as the part of lavishing guest visits and on X-treme wednesday we had unlimited rides on all six roller coasters for jus 30$.All kids had a gleam on their face by the influence of the coco-cola fireworks a the nights for just 20$.All of us who visited the part gave the feedback as it is the best family beach vacation. This book is not just about mathematical methods, mathematical problem solving, or teaching mathematics. It is about solving problems. It presents concrete methods (or heuristics) and illustrates by guiding the reader using these methods through clear and cogent examples. The problem solving insight this book provides is extremely useful. It is about how to go about solving a problem. Mr.Sri Rama Chandra Moorthy(Thengai Sreenivasan),an old scrupulous and disciplined man distraught with the younger generation, is the managing director of a company and is in search of an employee. Chandran's family friend who happens to be the family doctor of sriram tells chandran to attend the interview and also tells him a long set of rules on how to behave and answer in the interview. Chandran who's highly unfit and opposite to the required qualities, attends the interview and feigns to be an ethical man and acquires respect and job from Mr.Sriram. The interview scene sends you down on the floor laughing. Then chandran is caught red-handed during a football match, where he behaves boisterous in the stands. Here comes the new character Indran(his brother) whom Chandran creates to save him.He says this guy was whom Mr.Sriram saw during the match, and that they are twins with the latter having no moustache. Then comes the spate of lies, impersonations to cover up all his previous lies. The plot then turns complex with Saro,Sriram's daughter, loving Indran and Sriram loving Chandran. Then the movie ends with a lot of commotion with Kamalhaasan making a guest appearance. Aalavandhaan explores this philosophy, but in a more dramatized and dangerous setting; One twin kills for profession; one twin kills for enjoyment; One is a commando; one has escaped from a mental institute. It delves deep into the double helix paradigm and into the psychology of a killer. The basic story is nothing new, but the movie delves to a large extent into the dark recesses of the psychopathic mind of Nandu. We get to view the real-plus-imaginary world inhabited by this schizophrenic character "with paranoid delusions", courtesy special effects and animation. All this happens even as an engaging action thriller unfolds on the screen. The delusion and flashback portions seem to slow down the pace. Many scenes involving Nandu send a chill down your spine, though the language and violence, at times, seems unfit for children. No stone has been left unturned when it comes to the technical aspects of the movie like art direction, cinematography, editing, sound effects and visual effects; but the computer graphics is found wanting sometimes. Double role picturisation has possibly never been better, even in Hollywood, though those movies rarely employ an actor portraying two roles. The attention to detail is also stunning.

How a Scientist Changed the Way We Think 3

The concluding essays focus on Dawkins' writing skills. That talent is universally exclaimed throughout the set, but Matt Ridley and Philip Pullman go beyond merely addressing Dawkins ability to impart science. Pullman, in particular, finds elements of Dawkins' prose that should appeal to all readers, notably "phrase-making" and humour. Making readers smile is a rare trait among science writers, but Dawkins has managed to Pullman's satisfaction and delight. He even compares Dawkins with Dickens, no small compliment. It is a fitting cap to this collection - a tribute well deserved by its subject. Having read "Selfish Gene" some time ago, this collection impels me to take up its insights and delightful reading once more. As these writers stress, Dawkins is a thought-stimulator par excellence. We need more like him. Dawkins' ability to express himself clearly leads to the deceptive conclusion that he is a popularizer rather than an innovator in science. Wrong. While he draws from the great streams of scientific thought, he has woven ideas together into several constellations that are his alone.

How a Scientist Changed the Way We Think 2

The "selfish gene" operating in humans has, of course, caused the greatest distress among many readers. An entire section of the book is devoted to that issue. Randolph Nesse discusses how the term "selfish" has been mindlessly condemned by many. Adding to the furor, and fury, was the publication of Edward O. Wilson's "Sociobiology". Although Wilson's book focussed on social species, particularly insects, the implications were clear. If genes build bodies and guide behaviour, how many of our activities are similarly directed? How many of our actions are "genetically determined". Nesse notes that Dawkins had closed his book saying we are the one species capable of overriding our genes' guidance, few either read or failed to comprehend the implications. Outside the realm of pure biology, Dawkins has made clear his position on religion and its dogmas. No less a figure than the Bishop of Oxford takes up the challenge. In his essay on Dawkins and humanism, Richard Harries deals with what drives a person to atheism. Noting other powerful scholars have turned away from "faith". He exempts science itself as a cause, instead Harries relies on Alister McGrath's recent book, "Dawkins' God" as a buttress. Harries sympathises with Dawkins sense of awe at the wonders of the universe. Harries, of course, wishes Dawkins' awe could be "grounded in a reality that lies beyond the visible universe".

How a Scientist Changed the Way We Think 1

If Darwin's revelation of natural selection is "the best idea anyone, any where, ever had", then Richard Dawkins' identification of the "selfish gene" must run a close second. While Darwin's concept explained the workings of life, Dawkins' insight disclosed the mechanism of natural selection. The 1976 publication of "The Selfish Gene" not only stimulated a fresh wave of thinking among biologists, it also stirred public interest and imagination. If life was under the thrall of those strings of chemicals in our cells, how far did that influence reach? In this set of excellent essays on the issues, Dawkins ideas and their impact are presented and discussed. The fruit of his insights are bittersweet, and while most of these writings applaud his probity and communication skills, there is the tang of doubt about some of them. More than two dozen essays comprise this collection. They are topically organised, starting with the biology issues, moving through the logic Dawkins uses to his writing skills. Today, the biology seems straightforward: genes build bodies. Those bodies contain nervous systems and brains - the root of behaviours. At the publication of "The Selfish Gene", it was widely thought that evolution worked at the species' level. Dawkins moved that mechanism much deeper. Its effect is manifested through various ways, with mate choice one of the more significant. Andrew Read explains how evolutionary pressure forces such practices as "lekking" in certain bird species. The mechanism can be readily projected to other creatures, and is manifested in humans, as well.

A much needed book

India has five thousand years of history that we have enough evidence to write about. Any book that can simply be coherent and readable while covering so much ground is an achievement. John Keay's "India: A History" is more than that, though; it is superbly-written and powerfully narrated. Keay notes in the introduction that he has deliberately avoided focusing more on recent history than on ancient: "a history which reserves half its narrative for the 19th and 20th centuries may seem more relevant, but it can scarcely do justice to India's extraordinary antiquity." Naturally the availability of more historical sources does increase the attention paid to recent events, but still the Raj does not appear till nearly three quarters of the way through, and the 20th century and the real start of the struggle for independence is close to the end of the book. The result is a long, thoughtful and detailed telling of many of the dynasties and civilization that flourished in India -- though, as Keay also says in the introduction, only the highlights are mentioned, since "with perhaps 20 to 40 dynasties co-existing within the subcontinent at any one time, it would be [. . .] sado-masochism [to include them all]". So even at this extra level of detail there has been substantial editing. And there could have been more; the book's only fault is that Keay mentions just too many of the endless dynastic dramas. The essence of a one-volume history is selective editing, and the book could have been shorter and a little less dry in places. However, the picture of India that emerges is deep, complex and fascinating, from the earliest Harappan archaeological relics through to the Gandhis. The Raj is of course particularly interesting: although technologically and industrially the British clearly surpassed them greatly at the time of the Raj, some of the diplomatic exchanges that Keay retails show the Indians as being more sophisticated, more civilized, and in many ways just smarter than the British. It was inevitable that the yoke would be thrown off; the only question was what India would be able to do with its independence. Keay's prose is also a great pleasure; he has a wonderfully dry sense of humour, and he conveys exciting events with panache but also with precision and clarity.

Mahanadi, The Sacred Rive

Kamal Hassan has delivered a knockout performance in this under-rated classic. Its the story of the father of two, played by Kamal Hassan who falls for deceit and ends up in Jail. Kamal Hassan is a wealthy villager who makes acquaintance with a crooked guy from the city. Kamal Hassan trusts this man implicitly and invests all his money. By the time, he realises his folly, its too late and he ends up in a jail. In the meanwhile, his daughter is forced into prostitution and his son lands up in a touring circus troupe. On returning from jail, he goes searching for his daughter who is found in a brothel in Calcutta. This scene will make anyone cry. Kamal Hassan also finds his son and he is so mad that his whole life was shattered by the guy whom he trusted. This movie has Kamal Hassan at its best with excellent music from Ilayaraja and is exceedingly well directed. This movie shows that, no khan from bollywood can match the talent of kamal hassan, the greatest actor, india has ever produced. To say about Kamalhaasan's acting you might watch this scene from the movie. "His daughter and son with his mother-in-law will come to jail and talk with him, he will notice (unexpectedly) his daughter as a matured girl. His mother-in-law asks her to get blessings from him". At this moment his face will be changed and he will be in tears. He tries to control it and simply listen to his mother-in-law and he wont be able to speak at that time.

Pacino rules!!!

I think Scent of a Woman leaves a legacy of life, it makes us appreciate life an also understand that a life can be lived in a minute just like Al Pacino says in one of this movie's most beautiful scenes, it also talks about values, integrity, and moral principles, by sides of this movie's wonderful script it's incredible cast makes it one of the most outstanding movies I have ever seen. The incredible scene of tango, the deep arguments about life between Al Pacino's character and Chris O'Donnell's, and also those scenes when Al Pacino's character senses women's scent and tells them the name of the perfume or the name of the soap it's really amazing, all of this with the sarcastic sense of humor of this movie, it's really greatWhy is Pacino such a beast acting? I'll tell you why. His passion. Passion that overwhelms all surrounding him. His voice starts roaring and he forgets that he is Al Pacino. He suddenly becomes his character, he stops seeing around him and he is now a prisoner in his role.
The movie is about Pacino. His acting is grand, superb, majestic, heart-wrenching, deep, emotional, so forth. His portrayal of a blind man dangling in the rope of his life, is not only credible but immensely touching. We see directly, through his crystalline performance all of the pain that griefs on his character. Any other actor would have given a corny, over the top performance. Pacino is the Ace.

Getting to the bottom of the greatest mystery of all time

Phantoms in the Brain is not only a marvelous narrative of the quirky facets of the brain and the mind, it is also a good illustration of the advances made in neurology over the past 30 years. Indeed if you take into account the extensive career of Freud, who was himself a neuro-anatomist prior to pursuing his medical profession, neurology and neuropsychology have well over a 150 years behind them. One of the things I found most unique about the author's style is that he points out the pertinent contributions in the works of other, often earlier researchers, particularly Freud. It seems to have become fashionable to treat Freud and his work with great disrespect, ignoring that he was a man of his times and very progressive in his thinking for that time. Not all of his work is useless, particularly that in neuro-anatomy, and as is often the case in science, as more research is done today it may be found that some of his theoretical work is less faulty than has been thought. Ramachandran gleans the traces of gold from the mine of Freud's work and integrates them into his own. The author's writing style is conversational and clear. He appears to be a natural teacher, making the work obtainable for any person with average reading skills. It might make a good book for showing high school students how problems in science are outlined and tested, especially in health care sciences. It's colorful stories of people and their problems should arrest the attention of the high school student, perhaps orienting them to a career in science. For those interested in mind and consciousness, the book is a good example of the research being done by biologists-as opposed to artificial intelligence professionals and philosophers like Roger Penrose and Daniel Dennett-and makes it obvious that there is still a long way to go in this fascinating field.

A philosopher par excellence

One may hypothesize that all works of philosophy are in essence works of self-reflection. From blatant examples such as Augustine's "Confessions" to more subtle parts of Descartes' "Meditations," philosophers have often used their own experiences to help us understand the world we live in. In this sense, we can contrast to the former works the works of philosophers such as Aristotle or Heidegger who shy away from using the first person and deal with subject matters not only strictly of interest to the writer, but which seek to gain popular understanding. Bertrand Russell is a curious mixture of the two approaches. His commitment to objectivity and to rigorous thought that is arguably impossible without a certain degree of "common ground" frequently seems to overshadow his own subjectivist foundations in which he approaches the questions of philosophy. In what is perhaps the most powerful two pages of the book, at the introduction, Russell outlines three primary principles that have motivtated him to do what he did in life. In a sense, then, the autobiography provides the reader with comforting answers as to why anybody would wish to live such an amazing life. In this sense, it is perhaps Russell's most self-reflective work of philosophy. The book is entertaining, the stories enjoyable, and the message deeply profound: how Russell came to appreciate the fields that he was interested in, and how he found the principles that guided his life. He had also been kind enough, in the edition I read, to include copies of letters of correspondence and pages from his diary as a youth. While this may have been motivated by a less-than-humble desire to provide future scholars with primary source material to study himself, they are themselves works of philosophy, and many of the doubts about life Russell struggled with as a youth strike a chord in all of us. Indeed, Russell's Autobiography is an entertaining and personally illuminating approach to one of the most fundamental philosophical questions of how one's life is to be lead.

Supply chain management at its best

Remember the time when I was telling you about my plans to start a hi-tech library? Well, its up and running now. Its fully computerized and all the transactions can be made online. And I will tell you how I did it. The whole thing is basically supply chain management and more specifically for libraries, inventory management. Intermec Supply Chain Solutions made the whole thing very very simple for me. RFID has many applications in libraries that can be highly beneficial, particularly for circulation staff. It greatly increases efficiency and the quality of the service provided. Since RFID tags can be read through an item, there is no need to open a book cover or DVD case to scan an item. Ask any librarian and he or she will tell you how important that is.This would help alleviate injuries such as repetitive strain injury that can occur over many years if done by the library staff. Where the books have a barcode on the outside, there is still the advantage that borrowers can scan an entire pile of books in one go, instead of one at a time. Since RFID tags can also be read while an item is in motion, Hand held computers using RFID readers to check-in returned items while on a conveyor belt reduces staff time. But, as with barcode, this can all be done by the borrowers themselves, meaning they might never again need the assistance of staff. This greatly obviates a lot of problems. Next to these readers with a fixed location there are also portable ones for librarians, but in the future possibly also for borrowers, possibly even their own general purpose readers. With these, inventories could be done on a whole shelf of materials within seconds, without a book ever having to be taken off the shelf.

Tom Apostol's Classic Calculus Text

This book is not only well-written, but has numerous quality exercises, and presents the material in a coherent and logical fashion. There is none of the typical clutter we see in many calculus texts nowadays, which makes the reading experience much simpler. Because Apostol writes so clearly, he can cover material significantly quicker than most other calculus texts. Even though many students are puzzled at the notion of understanding theoretical proofs and concepts, that understanding will often trivialize whatever homework problems and tests they will need to write in their classes. It is true that this book is more abstract than other calculus texts, and the general consensus is that some knowledge of calculus would be helpful before tackling this book. However, a mathematically inclined student, given a good background in pre-calculus, should be capable of reading this entire book with little outside assistance. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to have a more experienced student or teacher available to answer any questions the reader may have. I have seen many Calculus books in which the authors tend to focus on pretty pictures or mere formula memorization. On this book the focus is on understanding the concepts and reasoning beyond the computational aspect of the Calculus. Considering the ongoing research in mathematics today, this book will prepare those interested in becoming pure mathematicians.

A college for wannabe Real Estate Investors

A friend of mine recently graduated out of Nouveau Riche University, a Real Estate Investment College. He said the experience was an enriching one both professionally and spiritually. Nouveau Riche uses a tried and tested concept to maximize learning and facilitate understanding and application of knowledge acquired. The courses are totally no-nonsense with respect to their content and pedagogy. The specific needs of every individual is recognized and the courses are custom designed and very flexible. The teaching staff is extremely well trained and understand their job perfectly. Its a very friendly environment for learning and is a truly dynamic one too. Short Sales, Tax strategies, Legal strategies and several other relevant courses are offered at various levels at Nouveau Riche. A fleeting glance at their expert team is enough to assure you that you will get your money's worth. The whole thing is wonderful, if you ask me. Finally you have a College that actually teaches you the most important thing in life, to earn money. Nouveau Riche is great in every respect and I would recommend anyone wanting to make wealth to go and join the College.

Too good to be true?

I am talking about Nouveau Riche University, of course. Can these people really teach us to earn money through Real Estate Investments? Is this current story going around the Internet about the Nouveau Riche Scam true? Or is it just a few disgruntled people who have vested interests trying to bring down that organization. I decided not to take one man's word against another and investigate the matter myself. I went down to the place last week and spoke to the students on the campus. Nouveau Riche University is a very, very honest establishment and have a transparent system. And later I checked out their courses and their teaching staff. I can assure you that this whole Nouveau Riche Scam thing is pure hogwash. It simply is not true. Nouveau Riche University is a one of a kind Real Estate Investment College which has helped a lot of people make wealth though smart Real Estate Investments. They have a great team that supervises the academic standard and have real experts teaching about their areas of specialization. The Nouveau Riche Scam story going around the Internet is rubbish. Its simply doesn't make sense. I have checked the claims made by these morons myself and there is not even an iota of truth in it. And that is very important. Especially if you are going to stick with the chair for years together and you do most of your work sitting on it. There are a lot of things about a chair which you would want to be just right for you. The height, comfort, arm-rests, cushion, wheels and several other things. So its never going to make sense if you get a one-size-fits-all kind of chair. Designer-Seating.Com appreciates this and help you build your own custom designed chairs. They are the leading experts in the field for more than a decade now and they have a great collection of blue-prints that you could use as a base and then let your needs dictate the finer details of the design. I recently designed my own Capisco Chair and the experience was great. Their Customer Support Team is just great and are very helpful with any doubts you may have regarding their products. Not that I've seen every movie in the annals of Tamil Cinema... But among all that I've seen and heard of Panchatanthiram tops the list. The slapstick humor of Crazy Mohan's script is hard to describe - the spontaneity of his jokes is somehow both hilarious and believable.Kamal Haasan is at his comedic best. He has distinguished over nearly half a century as an actor capable of playing characters that are psychotic or amusing, pathetic or heroic. Ram, who he plays here is a playboy who discards bachelorhood when he meets his wife, played by Simran. She is always suspicious of his amorous nature (possibly due to the fact that she found him giving a Frencher to an ex-girlfriend at their marriage reception). A comic series of misadventures finally culminating in their separation lays the plot for the movie.Throw in the comedy of Ram and his four quirky friends (particularly the one played by Yugi Sethu) stuck in the middle of a murder they did not commit, pestered by Yugi's father-in-law (who thinks whiskey is cold coffee), threatened by the charismatic (oh, sorry, I meant sexy) Ramya Krishnan, all the while trying to bring Ram and Mythili (Simran)back together. There are some unforgettable scenes, like the dead body caught in a laundry chute. A lot of the verbal humor is based on colloquy in Tamil, one of Crazy Mohan's characteristics; they might not come across well in subtitles. Nevertheless, several of the jokes and actions will throw even people who don't know Tamil into hysterics. Kamal Haasan fans will be committing treason if they miss this one; even those who are not crazy about him (few of them out there) will enjoy this masterpiece of the master of Tamil cinema.

A good woman is a woman but a good cigar is a smoke

I have always wondered why people are against smoking. I mean, there are a lot of other things to worry about. Why go on and on about how smoking kills, smokers die younger and all that crap. Cut it out for Pete's sake. We smokers know all that. Its not like we are saying to ourselves that smoking increases life expectancy. Frankly, I am getting sick and tired of these people telling me that I am killing myself. Get a life, people. Of course I know that a Cigar kills me, but it also makes me feel alive. And these same folks have made it their life's work to make it terribly hard to enjoy a good Cigar. Too many restrictions, bans on most Cuban stuff, anti-smoking rallies and campaigns, those compulsory hideous warnings on cigarette packs. Upon my Sam, its a little hard. Despite all this we smoke, don't we. We somehow find a way around your stupid rules. Take Cigars for instance. Its practically impossible to find good Cigars in our country. But now we have CigarsToBuy.Com, an absolutely fabulous website that has the greatest collection of Cigars that you can order online. Davidoff, Dunhill, genuine Cubans, Cohiba red dot cigars and many more wind their way in to their collection. Even if they don't have what you want, you can make a special order for your favorite Cigar and they will get it for you. And the prices are just incredible. They ship freshly packed Cigars in a matter of days. For all you fellow Cigar-lovers out there, I strongly recommend them.

A great read

Frederick Forsyth is an excellent author, and No Comebacks will serve as a fine introduction for readers new to his work. If you're already familiar with Forsyth, this is a collection of short stories similar to The Veteran. The stories in No Comebacks are shorter, usually about 20-30 pages each, ten in all. They are a little more lighthearted than the tone of Forsyth's novels, which are predominantly serious, and most involve an unexpected twist or turn along the way (sometimes saved for the very end). There's a story in here for everyone: a playboy in pursuit of a married woman, a victim of prejudice out for revenge, an answer to a mid-life crisis, a way to handle extortion, a response to a soiled reputation, and a unique way to settle an estate, to name a few. Timeless little episodes that are well-written and delightful to read. Very few writers are equally good at both novels and short stories. I will not leave you in suspense - Frederick Forsyth is a better novelist. That is not a problem, however, as his novels are strong enough that he can dip a bit below that level and still be quite good. NO COMEBACKS demonstrates this.

Trade stocks online!!!

Yes, trading stocks online is the latest thing in Wall Street. The film opens as Sethu (Kamal Haasan) and Ranjini (Rekha) count their moments before plunging to death as they're communion is opposed by her parents. Since Sethu belongs to a low class and his father being a cook, Ranjini's father strongly dismisses him from being his prospective son-in-law. In the fateful event, Ranjini dies but Sethu survives. He's sentenced to one-year imprisonment much to his own surprise, as he doesn't wish to live. His uncle, Chaplin Chellapa (Kamal Haasan) a man who dedicated his life to make people laugh, instils hope and sense into him. Upon his return from prison he heads home, but finds new additions to his father's growing collection of wife's. Not wanting to be a part of the herd, he takes up a job as a dance instructor in an arts centre offered by Padmini (Srividya), who runs the institute. He spots Malini (Revathi) on the verge of committing suicide at the very place he plunged with Ranjani, which he now considers as his 'monument of love'. He succeeds in persuading her to change her mind, giving a few insights on the values of life to which she humbly submits. Malini develops a liking towards Sethu, and enrols in his dance class, but his hostile rude attitude towards her makes things difficult. Her love increases even more when she learns about his past from Chaplin Chellapa, who also provides her with ample ideas to woo him. Despite his best attempts to stay away from Malini, Sethu is drawn to her and confesses his secret admiration towards her ever since they met. Life brings upon a sea of change as Sethu begins to reinvent himself through Malini's immense love. All's well until he meets Malini's parents, as they humiliate him for being a cook's son, whereas Malini hails from a wealthy Sri Lankan family. Sethu's past misfortunes continue to chase him as Malini's parents firmly reject their love. The aura of the two has not preempted other fine performances in the movie - surprising to say; Vadivel, Nazar, Revathi, Gauthami and Kaka have acted well whenever they are featured. In villages sometimes pride is all they care to preserve and it was rightly shown when Kamal Hassan chooses to marry Revathy; sacrificing his own love due to his attempts at rehabilitation to save the village from community riots and perpetual warfare that results in blood-shed. One of the most successful movies of Kamal Hassan's Rajkamal International production company. A cult classic that got both critical acclaim and huge box office collections. About a dozen movies were released along with it, on Diwali '94 but all these were reduced to box-office disasters(including the Rajinikant starrer 'Pandian'). Such was the impact of Thevar Magan. The thespian Sivaji Ganesan was aptly cast in the role of Kamal's father, the village chief. Nasser, Revathi and Gouthami reveled in their roles and Revathi won the National award for 'Best Supporting actress'.
