After looking at the x-ray, he was able to arrange for us a very quick CT-Scan of the cervical vertebrae. Today, they went to a pool with a 5 meter (16 feet) diving platform. He jumped off the end, and when entered the water, he went in at such an angle that his feet kind of skimmed the surface and fell out from under him. His head snapped back sharply and hit the surface of the water. I especially love this kind of sweater. I have a charcoal sweater that has a honeycomb pattern on the centre panel. I have always wanted one in this colour.I know exactly where I could get a sweater such as this; at a store I like very much. But they don't come cheap at that store, and I have always wanted to make one for myself.I have a pattern similar to this one; the Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02288648996304246570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639357.post-6162067809825920152009-07-15T07:00:00.000-04:002009-07-15T07:00:00.359-04:00Two men, one book... book of the Bible, that is.Martyn Lloyd-Jones and John MacArthur on the book of Romans.Lloyd-Jones commenting on 1:3-4, that Christ was declared to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead:Read the four Gospels through. Of course, the same is true of fathers. While not all parents will teach their children how to diagram a sentence or find the derivative, parents will teach.I was reminded of this the other day when I heard my son making a telephone call to the church office, so that he could speak with the Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02288648996304246570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639357.post-17555961381715094472009-07-14T06:35:00.007-04:002009-07-14T07:24:38.188-04:00Spiritual siblingsIn my reading of Church history, I have come to the 4th century. I recently read about the Cappadocians, specifically Basil of Cesarea and Gregory of Nyssa. Also mentioned was their sister, Macrina.Macrina was engaged to be married, but upon the death of her fiance, she retired to the family estate in Pontus and established a monastic community which was dedicated to prayer and contemplation. I have said it far more than is acceptable. I tend to be a worrier; it's just the way I am. I shared my thoughts about what I was learning in my Scripture studies. I also talked a lot about theological concepts as well.I realized that recently, I have not posted as much about that kind of thing. I don't know how old it is, but it is beginning to go the way of old maple trees, and every now and then, branches from the top will plummet to the grass beneath. That is okay, though, because the branches are good for kindling. One day a while back, there was a couple of branches, maybe three inches in diameter and about three or four feet long, lyingKimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02288648996304246570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639357.post-83228012689398779962009-07-10T06:36:00.005-04:002009-07-10T06:57:04.364-04:00Another AnniversaryYes, I do know that today is the 500th anniversary of Calvin's birthday. I am not going to write about that because others will do that, and will surely provide better material than I would. I don't know much about the man Calvin; my exposure to Calvin, obviously comes through his theological legacy. Most of my growing understanding of Calvinism has come through writers such as R.C. I did a lot of research as to what I wanted to pursue, because I knew without a doubt that homeschooling could provide opportunities for rigorous education in ways that a public school could not. It was a great day for walking. It was neither too hot nor too cold, and there was a breeze. I had not been there for over twenty years, when my husband's aunt was buried there in 1986, but I pass by its entrance with great regularity in my car and when I am walking. It's on a street that has a very good incline for walking. That is the date of the Council of Nicea, where the Nicene Creed was formulated. Now, these creeds were not hammered out because a bunch of balding old men wanted to assert their personal biases. They were in reaction to controversy within the Church. The reaction to heresy is generally to sit down and articulate what truth is in Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02288648996304246570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639357.post-32671697905054102492009-07-06T10:52:00.005-04:002009-07-06T15:48:02.695-04:00Copying Lisa....... with my July "status" report. I just can't think of a good one at the moment that describes the dual person that is a woman such as myself. And I'm not talking abut the struggle between the old man and the new.
