However, although many salt water pool manufacturers promote the ease of converting your pool to a salt water system, the pool treatment methods are not any easier than those of a typical pool. Before your convert your system, it is important to understand how it works and why you should (and should not) consider converting. Salt treatment begins with understanding exactly how salt water pools' chlorination systems work. The basis behind this system is that you do not have to add chlorination for this treatment. However, that does not mean that there is no chlorine. That's actually a common misconception. There are chemicals in a saltwater pool. Treatment is still necessary, and although you do not have to manually add chlorine (in most cases), there is still chlorine in the system. The chlorine, however, comes from the salt itself. A salt system is not the same as swimming in the ocean. In fact, the water in a pool system is actually still considered fresh water because there is only a very low level of salt in it (there's more salt in your eyes). However, this amount of salt, when put through a control box, can create enough chlorination to keep your pool clean, blue and safe for swimmers.

The control box on a salt water pool treatment system is a device that actually sends electricity through the sale. The longer the electricity runs through the salt, the more chlorinated the water will be. The pool treatment system should automatically control this, but you'll still need to use test strips to test for chemicals often. You can control how chlorinated the water is using the salt control knob. In addition, with the control box, you can tell when you need to add more salt to the system. Although you will not have to add chlorine as part of your salt water pool treatment program, you will have to continuously check for alkalinity and pH level. It is a good idea to check your water once a week if you use it moderately and even more often if you use it often or get a lot of rain, which can affect the acidity levels. As part of your pool treatment plan, you also need to check the calcium levels in your pool. With too much calcium, your pool water will be "hard" and may leave unsightly build up along the steps and tiles. In addition, excess calcium in your salt water can clog the pump and control box system.

Cartridge Filters Are Different!

Cartridge Filters are Different Cartridge filter systems for swimming pools have become much more popular over the last several years. Like most products people buy cartridge filter systems are not perfect and can have some troubling features that might influence your decision whether or not to invest in such a system.

Filter Cartridges Unlike sand and DE filters, cartridge filters feature a re-usable cartridge. Usually made of a paper-like material with deep folds and plastic retaining rings top and bottom these cartridges are simple to remove, clean and replace. With care they can last 4-5 years or more and do an excellent job of filtering the finest particles from your pool water. On the other hand cartridge filter systems usually do not have a multi-port valve that allows backwashing or vacuuming to waste like sand and DE filters. This can pose problems especially when opening your pool or cleaning up after an algae bloom. While the heavy debris present in these situations would be vacuumed to waste or cleared with a backwash in sand or DE filters this is not an option with cartridge filters. Even with proper cartridge maintenance cleaning up a really dirty pool can clog the cartridge requiring frequent removal and cleaning that really makes a tough job tougher. If you've neglected your cartridge it can be enough to drive you really crazy and leave the job undone.

What Can I Do? Unfortunately there is no sure fix for this shortcoming of cartridge filters. Without a provision for backwashing or vacuuming to waste heavy debris has to move through the filter grid. If the debris is too heavy the grid will clog and pump suction will drop off severely. Proper cartridge maintenance is the only remedy. If you buy or own a cartridge filter system be sure to purchase an extra set of cartridge filter elements and filter cleaner. Put one set of elements in service for up to a month then replace them with the new set. Soak the used set in filter cleaning solution overnight, hose off, allow to dry and store. Used the cleaned set for your next filter element replacement. Alternating element sets like this will ensure that your filter is as clean as possible to resist clogging and will considerably extend the life of your elements. Extending cartridge life is a good thing as new elements can cost hundreds depending on your filter.

Hot Tub Advice and Tips

Are you ecstatic that you have now got your hot tub, but you would like to know a little bit more about where they originated from and how to use them? Then read on. In the olden days hot tubs were made of wood, which although were very relaxing to sit in they were soon causing problems with infections and bacteria arising from the damp wood. Nowadays you can get hot tubs which are made in steel, plastic and acrylics, not only that but you can get a wide variety of hot tubs from shapes such as love hearts and sizes that are as little as a table and as big as a room. Although tubs were created in the olden days in just one shape and size, another thing that was lacking was the technological implementations that are currently available on the market such as jets and nozzles, wave generators, heaters, filters and a lid.

All the technology listed makes for a more relaxing set environment. What could be better than sitting in a hot tub with jets massaging your whole body. So you would like to know how to setup your hot tub, well first you would have to decide where you actually want it to go, if its inside your house then in which room? Secondly you will have to evaluate on how much electric you will be planning to use, because some tubs are quite pricey to run due to the fact that most must be left on all day to run and warm up Loading up your hot tub should not be a problem, it should be carefully filled up with water via a hose, once it has been switched on it should then be left until its fully warmed up, you will be able to adjust the temperature with certain gauges.

Once you have it warmed up if you don't feel like taking a dip then close the lid to keep the heat in and in all honestly leave it running until you are ready. Make sure you have all the correct water purifiers and chemical additives in place. Remember most hot tubs should have digital controls, where you can adjust the temperature of the water and the rate that the jet sprays are working. If you have not already bought a hot tub you have to keep in mind that people that are trying to sell the cheap hot tubs might workout to be more expensive for you in the long run as they may need more power to run and more maintenance.

Hot Pool Toys for A Cool Summer

What better way to save money this summer than by spending time at home? Right now, it's just not in my budget to do a lot of driving so I'm also looking for ways to make staying home more fun. One way is by adding a few new pool toys to your collection for the summer. New toys will ensure your kids have a blast right in their own backyard. There are some great inexpensive inflatable pools on the market this year. Some of the new styles are tailored for babies and toddlers and are absolutely adorable. A few fun pools for your baby are the jungle themed baby pool with a tree-top sunshade and 4 built in bugs for your baby to play with. Also for babies is the baby pool with mushroom sunshade which includes a soft inflatable bottom for comfort. For the older toddlers, there are some great combination pool/play sets your kids are sure to love. On top of the list is the kids Pirate Hideaway pool which is guaranteed to make your kids run for the pool. This cool pirate pool has a wading pool, slide, water cannons, inflatable treasure chest and shields and hats. Another great option is Inflatable Dinosaur Pool. What child doesn't love dinosaurs? This great pool includes a slide, wading pool, water sprayer, ring toss game, basketball hoop and more and retails less than $60!

If your kids have outgrown inflatable pools and you have either an above ground or in ground pool in your backyard, you'll definitely want to look for some great pool toys for your kids to enjoy. A brand new toy for this year is the Underwater Boomerang Scoobarang. This pool toy when thrown underwater will actually return to the thrower. Fun battery operated toys such as Subbies and Super Subbies are fantastic in the pool. These little guys come in adorable animal shapes and move randomly throughout the pool ' great fun for chasing after. If you prefer no batteries ' and who can blame you ' the great Dive N Rise Torpedo Line is fantastic. Kids simply toss the shark or dolphin into the pool and watch as it glides then surfaces like a real shark or dolphin. Really fun is the Torpedo Orca Darts Game. You play this game just like you would yard darts with the person who scores the most points winning. Points are scored when your orca whale enters one of the 3 rings floating on top of the pool.

Wood Graining Art of Replicating Wood on Any Surface

Faux finishing is the term which broadly applies to most decorative painting techniques. Faux finishes can generally be divided into four categories: Wall finishes, Specialty Finishes, Marbleizing, and Wood Graining. Common wall finishes are: sponge painting, ragging , color washing etc... Specialty finishes would consist of techniques like crackle, or metallic and patina finishes which are used on small items like picture frames or vases etc... Marbleizing is the art of replicating marble on surfaces , while Wood Graining is the art of replicating various woods on any surface of choice.

Wood Graining Basics Wood graining requires the use of a "glaze". Glaze (in the world of faux finishing) is a translucent paint base that can be tinted to a desired color needed for the faux finish. A good faux finish glaze will have the ability to hold a pattern without creating a noticeable texture (such as a texture paint would), and be translucent allowing the various layers of glaze to interact with each other. A favorite glaze of mine is Modern Masters Tintable Glaze.

Start with a base coat A "base coat" is a solid colored background upon which the wood graining technique will be applied. Base coats are usually various shades of "buff" ranging from gold buffs to warmer orange buff colors, other base coat colors are variations of red or coral for Mahogany to light shades of cream for Maple and other light woods. The key to good graining is to do it in layers A common method of wood graining is to put down a first "background" layer consisting of wood pores or cell structure over which a second primary grain layer is applied.

The background layer There are a lot of different variations of background grain that the wood grainer employs depending on the wood he is trying to replicate. One common background graining method is known as "flogging" , which is done by lightly patting the wood graining glaze with the flat edge of the bristles of a Flogger brush. It is not absolutely necessary to use a special Flogger brush (although they do a better job), you can substitute a standard paint brush for flogging.

Cost and Benefits of Metal Roofing

Metal roofing is fast becoming a popular option for homeowners for a variety of reasons. In fact, metal roofing has a lot of advantages over other roofing materials. For one, the life of metal roofs is quite long. Metal roofs can last as long as the house itself if installed properly. This type of roof can seal out water, last through strong winds, and keep snow from accumulating on the roof. Metal roofing is also resistant to fire, mildew, insects, and rot. Clearly, metal roofs offer a lot to the consumer, so it's not surprising why they're becoming more and more popular. And most companies guarantee their products for up to 50 years. Metal roofing materials are very lightweight as well. Because these roofs weigh so little, it's even possible to apply the new roof over 1-2 existing roofs without taking down the old material or installing more structural support.

Another plus - metal roofing goes up quickly and easily. Most metal roofing materials arrive in sheets or sections of shingles, so someone with a decent amount of experience can throw them together in a very short amount of time. It is true, however, that you can purchase single metal shingles that are more expensive and time-consuming to install, so make sure you purchase the faster version. The fire resistant quality of a metal roof is one of the most important advantages. Steel roofing is non-combustible, so it has been given a Class A fire rating - the highest a material can receive. But take note that if you will be applying a tin roof over a combustible material, such as wood shingles, the overall safety rating of your home will go down.

Steel roofing is made of metal, so it reflects radiant heat away from your house. This minimizes heat gain during the day, which has the potential to reduce energy costs in your home. This also benefits the environment. A tin roof is not as effective when it comes to insulation, but oftentimes contractors will leave some dead air space in between the tiles and the roof deck to allow for some insulation. As you can see, metal roofing has a lot of advantages, but the one disadvantage is cost. The cost of metal roofing initially is on the expensive side. Comparable to other high-end materials, the price of metal roofing ranges from between $150 and $600 per 100 square feet. But the good news is that the price doesn't necessarily make this material the most expensive option. You get back what you put in if you stay in the house for a long period of time, and don't plan on moving anytime soon.

Basic Roof Repairs

One household project that can seem frightening and expensive is the idea of doing your own roof repairs. Whether you have major damage to your roof, or just need new gutters and shingles, repairing your own roof is a daunting task, but is something you can actually do on your own. You'll just need to know how. Of course, for major repairs, you may need to call in a contractor to help. There are also some things you can do to improve the longevity of your roof. For instance, inspecting your roof a few times each year will let you see problems before they get bigger. If you have a few loose shingles, or gutters that are on their way to needing replacement, you can catch them early. Preventative maintenance can keep you from paying a lot for bigger roof repairs later. Be sure to make your roof inspections in the spring and early summer, or in the fall. During this period, it's not too hot on your roof, but it's also not icy.

Never climb on your roof under the direct heat of the summer sun. Warm shingles will loose their coatings as you walk on them, shortening their useful life. Check your flashing for problems, and fasten down loose or warped pieces. Use nails made of the same metal as the flashing when possible, as this prevents corrosion. Those with chimneys should check out the area where the chimney flashing meets their roof. Gaps caused by shrinkage of the cement and tar should be repaired with the same type of sealant. This keeps your roof from developing a leak near the chimney. If you see a bulge in your flashing, a simple roof repair is to place a piece of wood on that area. Hammer the wood to flatten the flashing, rather than hammering the flashing and shingle directly. If this doesn't work, there may be water damage in this location, causing the wood to swell. These cases require replacement of the damaged part of the roof.

If you see problems with your gutters, don't be tempted to fix them while you're on the roof. This is a common way to fall off the roof's edge! Instead, note the locations that are a problem, get a ladder, and deal with them from the ground. Apply a protective coating to your roof to reduce the heat from the sun and improve its lifespan. There are a number of different types of roof coatings, but one of the most common is the albedo coating. Used in areas with a lot of hot, sunny weather, they bring surface temperatures down by as much as eighty percent. This extends the life of your roof by blocking UV rays, and keeps your home cooler. If you have a metal roof, other coatings can be used to prevent corrosion, keeping your roof in good shape longer.

Property Maintenance Painting Interior of Your Property

Once you have correctly prepared your walls in order to get the professional finish that you require you will be able to start your interior painting. Your interior painting however isn't as simple as merely brushing your paint onto the walls; it should be done in certain steps, the first of which involves priming the walls. Priming is always recommended to promote adhesion and the durability of the topcoat of paint. You should try and prime all of the walls that you are intending on painting but aspects such as walls with wallpaper, patched/repaired areas, existing oil based paint or if you are hoping for a dramatic change in colour. You need to ensure that your primer is thoroughly dried before you apply the paint to your walls.

When you open your paint tin you should always use a stick to stir the paint. Before you start to apply the coats of paint to your walls it is advised that you perform a couple of practice rolls or brush strokes so that you get a feel for what you are doing. Once you feel confident you can then get on and paint the interior of your property. Before applying any paint to the walls of your property it is important that you first paint the ceiling of the room as well as woodwork such as the skirting board. This is to ensure that you don't accidentally get white paint on your finished walls and so that you don't end up getting paint on your ceiling and woodwork you will perform a task known as 'cutting in.'

The term cutting in stands for when you paint the top and bottom of your walls, right next to the ceiling and woodwork and around fitting such as light switches sockets. By doing this it leaves you free to fill in the middle with paint and stops you getting paint on the newly painted ceiling and woodwork. You can fill in the remaining areas on your wall using either a brush or roller; however, a roller will give you the best finish and is also the quickest way of painting the interior walls of your property. You do however need to be careful when it comes to using a roller for your interior painting as you only need to press down on the roller slightly, you should let the paint on the roller do the work for you as if you press down to hard you will create paint 'ridges,' which will mean you will have to re-roll the same area to smooth the ridges out. You should then slightly overlap the roller with where you have just painted so that you create a consistent covering.

Hardwood Floors Look Great In Any Room

Hardwood flooring is an extremely durable flooring product that can be installed in virtually any room in your home to create a great looking floor. This type of flooring is manufactured in both engineered wood planks and solid wood planks, and is available in many different styles and widths. There are benefits to both solid and engineered wood planks depending on the room that you want to fit out. It is extremely easy to maintain and can be installed with a bit of DIY. By simply wiping your floor, and possibly refinishing the wood occasionally, you can help maintain your hardwood floor's impressive look for many years into the future. Hardwood floors are more popular today than they have ever been. There are many choices available to homeowners such as laminate, tile, or carpet, but the flooring of choice nowadays is hardwood. Hardwood flooring is certainly an investment that should last for a long time. It is much longer lasting and of a far superior quality to laminate flooring that is often bought as a cheaper alternative. Many people chose to have laminate flooring rather than real solid wood flooring because it is not as expensive, although the difference in quality is often apparent.

Another benefit of hardwood is that it is timeless as it has looked good in homes for centuries, yet it still looks impressive in any room even today. Hardwood flooring is nowadays available as engineered wood which enhances the use of real hardwood, and costs a fraction of solid hardwood. Hardwood flooring not only looks good; it is also an environmental choice. Wood floors are a renewable resource, are friendly to the environment, and can improve the air quality of your home because they don't collect pollen, dust and other allergens like carpet does for example. This type of floor is highly durable and will last longer than any other type of hard surface. Hardwood can be installed virtually anywhere in your home, although you may prefer tile for rooms that may be effected by moisture, such as bathrooms.

Property Maintenance Tiling Your Floor

The appeal of tiled floors is becoming more and more appealing to property owners due to the way they dramatically change the look and feel of a room. Floor tiles have also grown in popularity due to the fact they will outlast most other floor coverings such as carpet. Floor tiles can be laid on most floors with the correct preparation. The floor surface should be washed, dried and hovered to name just a few; you need to ensure that the floor surface is smooth, level and dry. You can place floor tiles in any room of your house that please, however they are most suited for kitchens, bathrooms and hallways. One thing that should be noted when it comes to gaining your floor tiles is that when you are calculating the amount of tiles that you need you should allow an extra 10% for waste. When it comes to the actual act of laying the floor tiles it is the same whether the tiles are, for example vinyl or quarry tiles, it is done in three basic steps, which involves setting out the room, applying adhesive and laying the tiles; you should cut around anything that gets in your way. Although laying the tiles is the same practice for many different tiles; the preparation for laying them is different and depends on the type of tiles that you are using.

Good building practice means that you shouldn't lay tiles on top of each other. Although this may be the quickest method you are relying on the floor below to be stuck down perfectly, if it is not it could cause problems. Also, with all floor tiles, it is better if you can remove the skirting boards and then lay the tiles before re-attaching the skirting boards. There are two main reasons as to why this is a good idea, the first being it will hide any edges that aren't cut perfectly and the second being it will mean the height of your new floor will not hide any of the skirting board. If you don't wish to lay tiles on top of each other you will need to remove your current flooring. This can often be a highly time consuming task and not one of the nicest jobs that you will ever undertake. You should wear protective clothing such as gloves and goggles. There are two main steps that need to be considered and taken when it comes to laying floor tiles. The first of these is setting out the tiles. This is because one of the main secrets to success with floor tiles is to spend time working out the tile positions; this is often called 'setting out.' You should mark out the mid points along the longest wall and make a chalk line at right angles to this mark. This should be repeated for the adjacent shorter wall so that you have a pair of lines that cross.

Discounts on Industrial Carpet

If you're a small business owner or have premises of your own, chances are you'll be required at some stage to think about replacing the carpeting. Carpet is an essential feature of the office and environment and is great not only to provide a covering for the floor but also as a valuable tool in ensuring staff feel comfortable and satisfied with their work surroundings. Obviously there's no need for a thick pile here, but it is important to make sure that you do choose a carpet that is likely to prove both hard wearing and functional, whilst also presenting the right impression to clients and customers. As a business, you have an advantage over consumer buyers in that you are in more of a position to negotiate. A consumer carpet buyer requesting a discount for repeat business would be laughed at - as a business, it's almost expected. Because you have the potential to prove more valuable to a carpet retailer than the average man on the street, carpet retailers are far more accommodating to the needs of businesses and industrial carpet customers.

The first thing you should expect as standard is invoice discounts, i.e. discounts arising from the way in which you buy and pay for your goods - both trade discounts for bulk purchases and cash discounts for prompt payment are industry standard features designed to ensure more effective customer relations, and by ensuring you are within the terms of these specific discounts you can immediately realize a cost saving. Depending on the particular supplier you are in negotiations with, it may be possible to realize as much as 10-20% in savings off the top of your carpet purchases, particularly if you are a repeat customer and you have an effective working relationship with the supplier.

Aside from the natural advantages arising from being a business customer as opposed to being a consumer buyer, there is also ample opportunity to exercise clout and pursue the discounts on your own behalf. Committing to buy more in future is a good way of realizing an initial discount, although mentioning lower competing quotes you've had elsewhere can also help do the trick. That aside it is important to bear in mind that you can only push discounts so far, and that eventually retailers will be unable to offer you carpeting at a profitable rate. It's a case of balancing both your own clout and room for negotiation with the retailers profit margins, and it's better if you are fair and reasonable rather than aggressive and demanding.

Hardwood flooring is graded taking into account the variation of the color, grain patterns and knots of each plank. It is suited to many types of building; they feel at home with traditional or modern and will compliment the decor of both minimalist and eclectic designs.

Amazing Landscaping Ideas Turn Your Yard Into an Oasis

If you have an interest in the landscaping that surrounds your house but you are at somewhat at a loss for not knowing exactly where to begin, then you can quite easily discover many different inspiring examples. The landscape design that you use is one of the most significant elements in determining how the people who visit you will feel once they arrive at your home. Additionally, the landscaping around your house will also have a significant impact on what your house and property will be valued at. There are many different kinds of ways to improve the landscape surrounding your home. There are some people who are worried that in order to improve their landscape design properly, they would need to hire landscape contractors or landscape architects. This can be a very helpful option if you have the ability to afford it, however there are many people that successfully undertake landscaping design of their houses on their own. If you as a type of person that is interested in taking on the challenge of completing design landscaping for your home and garden, then one of the first things that you need to do is educate yourself on some of the basic landscaping design principles. There are basically four main aspects to all good landscape design and if you combine them with your own attention to detail and sense of style, then likely you'll be well on your way to creating a landscape environment around your home that is unique.

Balance One of the first components of landscaping is the concept of balance. If you concentrate the majority of your new plants in one area, then the rest of your garden landscaping area will appear to be rather neglected. You need to distribute the plants around the yard or garden at least to some degree in an even manner and with a sense of flow. This will help to draw the eye through the entire landscape design and help to engage your visitors.

Proportion The second element of good landscaping is that of a proportion. The concept here is to make certain that any landscape design feature that you select fits in appropriately, in terms of its size, the surrounding areas, structures as well as fixtures. For instance if you try to wedge a huge gazebo into a very small backyard it will end up looking almost comical and will not give you that superior effect. While at the same time, if you have a very big front lawn, then the addition of larger elements in features or plantings will be required so that they will be noticed and not as overwhelmed.

Transition The third principle is that of transition and you will need to have some knowledge of this for your landscaping project as this element is closely related to proportion. Despite your landscape design including large shrubs and flowers, plants, bushes and even some trees, the way to really make them work in a graceful beautiful way is through the use of transition. It is the smooth flow from one kind of plant and size to that of another. Your goal is to lead the eye from delicate plants to larger types with some size variation in between. Transitions of color can also be a very effective element of your overall landscape design plan.

Modern Garden With Modern Teak Garden Furniture

Modern gardens are now furnished with as much care and attention as we would lavish on furnishing a house. Fueled by the desire to live a healthier lifestyle, consumers are moving outdoors and looking for products that fit with this new outdoor, healthy lifestyle. Environmentally-friendly no longer just applies to products used indoors; consumers are now looking for eco-friendly products to use outdoors. PolyWood Patio Furniture offers these consumers an earth-friendly alternative to traditional patio furniture. PolyWood, a High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, is made from 100% recycled materials such as bottles and milk jugs. As consumers spend more time outdoors with family, friends and pets, they have begun to think about how safe their backyards are, giving way to the biggest new twist in outdoor living: the "eco chic" movement. Eco Chic marries the desire for earth-friendly products that are fashionable and functional.

Bruce Butterfield, Research Director at the National Gardening Association, predicts that the demand for earth-friendly outdoor and gardening products could "quadruple in the next few years." The challenge for consumers pursuing an outdoor living lifestyle is to find products that fit their budget, are durable, and earth-friendly. Traditional patio furniture is made either from plastic or pressure treated wood products. While inexpensive, plastic is not durable and is often replaced each year generating waste. The safety of pressure treated wood products has also been questioned and many health-risks sited. Additionally neither plastic (usually available only in white), nor pressure-treated wood (a non-fashionable green-gray color) provide consumers with the same number styles, colors, and designs that a PolyWood product provides. Using a patented technology, PolyWood Inc. has created a product that is tougher and more resilient than treated wood, non-toxic to humans and animals as well as lowers worldwide consumption of hardwood trees. Polywood furniture provides practitioners of the outdoor living lifestyle an affordable, durable, and fashionable product that is environmentally-friendly.

Home Remodeling The Choices You Must Make

Home remodeling can be a big step in improving both your living environment and the value of your home at the same time; choices have to be made and this is where the delays happen. If the choice isn't bad enough, then you have the cost to consider and whether the remodeling you have set your heart on is actually possible within your budget. The excitement of the proposals can soon be dampened once the cost has been looked at more closely and often compromises have to be made in order to complete the task. To make the whole project simpler, it is advisable to employ the services of a professional contractor who will be able to guide on prices and viability of aspects that have been discussed. If you hire a contractor you need to specify clearly who will get the supplies.

If you are living close to other people you might want to consider letting them know about your remodeling plans in case there will be any disturbance. You will also need to find out exactly what materials can be used on the project and measure everything carefully as mistakes in this area will cost money. If you have decided to take charge of the home remodeling supplies you must ensure that everything that's going to be needed is accounted for and ready for the contractor as time will be factored into the project. There are those who like to carry out as much of the works as possible but will still employ the services of a contractor to consult and ensure the plans are sound. Many contractors are able to complete all the work on their own but others will sub-contract out parts that they prefer other workers to complete when there may be guarantee included. Some people that start these projects are quite experienced and prefer a hands on approach only employing a general or specialist contractor over aspects it they are not comfortable completing alone.

Often people do not want to move so home remodeling is the answer and it usually increases the value of the home at the same time. Many home improvements are based on what's popular in a particular region or city so it is best to check to ensure what you are planning fits in well with what is happening elsewhere. This is of course more relevant if you intent to sell your property at some point but if it is purely for your own benefit then remodeling may not always fit in with others that are going on around you. However, home improvement has another, equally important advantage - it increases the value of your home. You must factor in the possibility that the money you have spent on improvements to your home will not be returned because you may not be able to sell your home for the amount you're asking. If you are able to get your whole family involved in the home remodeling project, you may find they actually enjoy the experience and learn a great deal at the same time.
Tags: Home Remodeling Idea Kitchen Designs Ideas House Addition Interior Remodeling Remodel a Bathroom House Remodel Old House Repair House Worth Kitchen Counters House Value Kitchen Cabinets Bath Remodeling Room Additions Kitchen Floor DIY Remodeling

Construction Contractor How To Hire

Are you planning a new home or renovating your old home? The wise remodeler will choose a plan from the great or above average category. This holds true for any area of the home that is being remodelled, whether it is the bath, kitchen, den or any other room. Homeowners should be able to uncover some fine plans, tips and ideas for the bathroom for instance (one of the most popular areas for home renovation/upgrades). But with this room it is essential to know what is involved, from the floor and plumbing to the smallest detail of wall trim or lighting. The key word is "plan," because the homeowner needs a fairly solid idea of what the current condition is and what it will take, in time and money, to make the desired changes.

Take a close look at the state of the bathroom. Be honest about what it will cost to remodel the entire room. Ignoring serious physical problems will only lead to disappointment and construction problems later. A family meeting will help uncover some of the desires and needs that one person cannot see. These extra opinions can also help head off those problems. It may well be that the remodelling of the bathroom will involve more than a new vanity/sink and some new lights. It may be necessary to expand the floor space of the room, replace plumbing and improve the shower facilities. Without a good plan the problems may only multiply. If the remodelling project involves the bedroom (or bedrooms), there are a lot of possibilities. In most cases, there will be no plumbing involved (unless there is a separate bathroom for the bedroom). Many times, bedroom remodelling involves colors, wallpaper design, furniture changes and so on. This can be enjoyable and accomplish a lot at the same time. In addition, because this is the most private room in the house, personality can really come to the fore here.

Many of those experienced in home remodelling, as well as contractors, begin the process by deciding on an overall color. This helps set a theme for a bedroom and can make design and furniture decisions much easier. Some bedroom remodelling begins with matching colors and new designs to an existing bed/dresser set. But it really doesn't matter what room is being considered for remodelling when it comes to the decision of involving a professional. Unless the homeowner is experienced in renovation and upgrade as a professional or from previous projects, it might be best to talk with an expert, at least to get some initial guidance and tips. It may even be a good idea to pay a bit for some of this basic information, because you never known when you'll need assistance from this professional again. A few dollars paid to a pro at the start can mean great savings later (when avoiding mistakes and interruptions).
Tags: House Builders Contractors Residential Building General Contractor Companies Company Homes Renovation New Commercial House Technology Residential Contractor Remodeling

Rustic Country Kitchen Creating Tips Ideas 2008

A good country style kitchen can bring memories of visiting your grandparents or of growing on in the country. The warm cozy feeling you would get from walking into the kitchen and smelling apple pies baking and mom/grandma at the stove baking. To get that same feeling in your modern kitchen there are many things you can do from just adding country decor to refinishing old cabinets and painting walls. In this article I will go over these different methods with you.

If you like the look of your current kitchen cabinets and counters and just want to add some design touches to give the room that country feel I suggest starting with antique stores. If you've never been in one you would be surprised by what you can find at reasonable prices. Look for old kitchen utensils with wood handles. No, you will not be cooking with these! Antique utensils such as egg beaters, spatulas, wooden spoons, etc. can be hung on walls in place of pictures. Arrange these in a way that is pleasing to you. Another item to look for in the antiques stores, although a little more expensive, is old windows. They are very popular because they can be used in several different ways for decorating your home. You can remove the old glass and replace it with a mirror, leave the glass and mount a country style painting behind it. If you are the creative type and can paint, you can purchase canvas at any art store and paint your own design to be mounted behind the glass. I have one with chickens painted by an old neighbor. When choosing an old window for this purpose be sure to keep in mind the size of your kitchen and the amount of wall space you have available. Some kitchens have display space above the cabinets. This space is great for displaying old bowls and bakeware or statues of roosters etc. If you're not into the antiques you can find a lot of great country themed kitchen decor on the market. These can range from rooster or apple themed plate diplays, clocks, dishes, cookie jars, etc. Most importantly, have fun with it!

Now let's say you want to go a little more in depth than just decor items. Old kitchen cabinets can be given new life with a whitewash. Change out your kitchen hardware to something that fits your country theme. You can replace, with a little work, the wood panels in cabinet doors with chicken wire. I don't recommend this on cabinets where your dishes are kept due to the possible dust factor. One way to prevent dust is to place a piece of glass behind the chicken wire in the cabinet doors. Wall paper and wall paper borders are another way to give your walls the look and feel of a country kitchen. Most home improvement stores carry a variety of wall papers or they can order them for you. Don't like wall paper? Try a faux painting technique or just choose a soft natural pleasing color and paint your walls. Another more expensive but effective idea is to replace your flooring with a natural tumbled stone. You can also find porcelain tiles that look like tumbled stone usually at a lower cost.
Tags:Kitchen Cabinets Kitchen Housewares Kitchen Design Picture Kitchen Model Kitchen Redesign Big Kitchen Trends in Kitchen Decor Ideas Kitchen Products Restaurant Kitchen Safety Kitchen Items Kitchen Renovations Kitchen Canisters Kitchen Colors

Child's Bedroom Decorating Customizing a Relaxing Retreat for Your Child

When it comes to decorating your home, there's nothing as challenging as decorating your children's bedrooms. You want to give them the best - a bedroom that makes them comfortable, that they will love, and that they will never forget. Creating a cozy room for your child isn't as difficult as you might think - even if you are on a tight budget. There are two schools of thought when it comes to decorating a child's bedroom. One is developing a theme for the bedroom. The other is creating a basic background that can be personalized with accessories. If your child is old enough, the best thing you can do is work with him or her to create a room that will satisfy both of you.

Creating a Themed Bedroom for Your Child Children's bedroom themes are probably the most popular choice. Kids love to have their favorite characters or interests on display for the world to see. If your child shows an interest in a themed bedroom, keep in mind it's usually an easy task to accomplish. Start by deciding on the theme...then you can select the right wallpaper. Next choose window treatments, bedding and accessories with colors and patterns that compliment the wallpaper. The most popular theme wallpapers for kids' bedrooms include:
• Noah's Ark wallpaper
• Beach wallpaper
• Dinosaur theme
• Baseball theme
• Space wallpaper
Non-Themed Bedrooms for Kids If you are looking for a decorating option that your child will like for many years, consider non-themed room decor. You and your children will enjoy the versatility and flexibility that a non-themed room offers, while staying within your budget. Changing the look and feel is as easy as updating accessories, such as wall décor, bedding, window treatments and accessories.

First, start with your wallcovering - choose your favorite wallpaper, border, personalized mural or whatever inspires you. There is a large selection of wallpaper in appropriate colors and textures that you can use to create a background that will adapt to almost any style and age group. You can choose among a wide variety of children's borders or personalized murals to create just the look that you are after. Then using your child's collections and toys as props, you can change the look and feel as your child's interests change. Some good children's wallpaper choices include basic striped and plaid wallpapers. These are available in a variety of colorful and tasteful designs and patterns that will make your child's room as inviting as you envisioned. It is inevitable that your children's interests will continue to change, so if you choose an adaptable style of wallpaper, then you and your child will be able to evolve the decoration through the years. Non-permanent Peel and Stick wall murals are also good ideas for decorating your children's bedroom. Since they are temporary, you will enjoy the ability to easily remove them when your child's taste changes.

Decorating Tips for Your Child's Bedroom Kids love to display their stuff, whether it's stuffed animals, a doll collection, sports gear or posters of their favorite characters and idols. By creating lots of organized space where your children can display their personal items, you will be happy with the organization and they will enjoy showing off their favorite items. Remember, the first step to creating the perfect children's bedroom is asking for their input - and deciding if you're going to create a theme or non-theme style bedroom. Start by choosing the kids wallpaper for your children's room; then decorate around it - they'll then have a relaxing retreat they'll love for years to come.
Tags: Baby Bedroom Furniture Children's Bedrooms Girls Room Baby Room Theme Bedroom Decorating Idea Bedroom Sets Kid Rooms Children Room Children's Beds Children Furniture Storage Nursery Room Bed Furniture Play Doll Furniture
