It is so awesome to read them and think of how relevant they are to our lives. Whether that is by personal struggles as seen in David's own life or the mighty praises cried out to God for His wondrous mercy and steadfast righteousness, we are continuously shown the faithfulness of God. I pray that God will open your eyes to see Him for who He really is and to understand how great He is for the sacrifice of His own Son on the Cross. If you remember what I mentioned on Wednesday night, I had said that our worship should be an overflow of our love for God. This overflow comes from personal devotions, consistent prayer, and the realization that God is Mighty in His creation, Mighty in His righteousness, and Mighty in His saving grace.

Psalm 40

God Sustains His Servant.

For the choir director. From there we will head to Maymont Park in Richmond to hand out Gospel tracts and share the love of Christ. We will leave for Richmond at 11am and get back around 4:30pm. I walked away from the conference with the song "mighty to save" stuck in my head. I felt it necessary to share with you all the power of this song and how true it is for us to see Jesus as the Mighty King who has, who is, and who will work wonders in our lives if we stay faithful to Him. To think of God coming down as a human in Jesus Christ, then enduring all the pain inflicted on His body is just unimaginable. Yet, through His pain and death Jesus Christ rose and conquered the grave defeating death and sin. As the song plays I want you to meditate on the words and really give God the glory for giving you life in Christ Jesus. He is the author of our lives and the perfecter of our faith. Praise Him for what He has done and will continue to do in our lives. God is Mighty to Save and there is no feat He cannot do. Pray for faithfulness in the cross.

Derrick Adamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10640512414388878770adamsda@vcu.edu0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8557234879745277994.post-41168700360193068922008-02-18T11:13:00.003-05:002008-02-18T11:36:53.725-05:00When Does Revival Start? So many times we get caught up in the ideas of how to bring revival to our churches. There are plenty of studies done about true revival and more creative ways to get people to love God with all their heart. But when you come down to it, there is nothing that can give you a sincere heart for God other than His Word and understanding who God really is. If we want a personal revival we must look inside ourselves and see what exactly we are filling our souls with. Whether that be money, material things, social status, etc., nothing can compare to the awesome God who gave us Jesus Christ on the Cross. As the song plays, try and focus on the words that Ross King sings and accept that we must put God back on His throne and fully come to grips with the fact that we need Him over anything else this world can offer up. Only then will we be able to have a true revival within ourselves. Our hearts will be broken, our mind will be open to the Word, and it is at that point that God will build us up.

Derrick Adamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10640512414388878770adamsda@vcu.edu0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8557234879745277994.post-14311723937230700442008-01-23T12:01:00.000-05:002008-01-23T12:20:49.032-05:00ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!For those that don't know already, I love football and what better way to celebrate the biggest game of the year than by having our youth football game, family chili-cook off, and watch the game on a large projection screen with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Reading Psalm 50 quickly reminded me of how we are in constant need of God and His provisions for our life. If He is really the all knowing all powerful God we say He is, then why do we treat Him as though He owes us something? What is just awesome to think about is that God does not need our praise or thanks. He doesn't even need us to for anything that could possibly give way to His kingdom. Yet, He loves us with such an unconditional love that He does provide for us. He provides our breath everyday, the food we eat, and the livelihood so that we can recognize that He is God alone and He is worthy of all our praise. And He provided the ultimate sacrifice in Jesus Christ that we may have salvation through Him. What a God! That is the purest form of unconditional love you will ever find. As you read Psalm 50, pray on how great God's love is for you and how much you are in need of Him.

(Psa 50:1) A Psalm of Asaph. Through times of persecution and turmoil they did not stop. They knew God's dwelling place was the most important aspect of their lives. If we read during the beginning of their rebuilding, we can see that they had to have the altar built first. Why? It was the focal point for the temple sacrifices. The Israelites would offer many sin offerings to atone or cover the wrongdoings against God. This was a constant ritual because each offering could not cover their future sins. It was not until the death of Christ, the final sacrifice, where we can realize that the blood of Jesus was shed for all sins. We have been forgiven once and for all, but we must take to heart the reality of Jesus' death and the penalty that was paid for our sins. We should always remember that the Cross is our altar and whenever in trouble or need the Cross is where we go. The Israelites built the temple despite their fear of sinning against God and even though we may have messed up and are afraid of coming before God, He is always there waiting at the Cross. We are made perfect through the perfect Lamb that was slain on the Cross.

Derrick Adamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10640512414388878770adamsda@vcu.edu0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8557234879745277994.post-69905881176021125072007-10-28T20:49:00.001-04:002007-10-28T20:49:38.496-04:00Check out my Slide Show!

Derrick Adamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10640512414388878770adamsda@vcu.edu3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8557234879745277994.post-12107506727664086232007-10-25T16:17:00.000-04:002007-10-25T23:33:23.651-04:00Fall Festival/Tailgate Party/Youth Sunday/Lock-InWell as you can see from the title, we have a bunch of stuff going on in the next few weeks.
