I went down to San Diego for the event, and had a fantastic time. I even got to sit next to Will at the dinner, and enjoyed chatting with him and his wife Viveca. They are both very down-to-earth, lovely people and have worked hard on behalf of the CFC charity over the years.

Will thought the painting was hilarious and autographed it for the auction. Not sure how much it ended up bringing, but they were very happy with my work and overall the event raised several hundred thousand dollars to help cancer survivors attend college.

It's a wonderful charity, and founders Craig Pollard and his wife Stacy are such inspiring people. I'm looking forward to seeing them here in Seattle at their January 24 event! The grant money partly went towards the cost of purchasing a GPS locator so I can monitor my locations, and will also help with travel expenses.

I am very excited about the project, and proud to have the support of Artist Trust! Included are the remaining paintings from the 2005 Roadside show, along with a few Fremont studies and some recent studies I made while working out concepts for my new work currently underway.
Upper Queen Anne Caffe Ladro:
2205 Queen Anne Ave N
Seattle, WA
(206) 282-5313
5:30am - 11:00pm Every Day

Rachel Doryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728026434857854734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8545548482975312139.post-80685877309944654292007-04-28T13:24:00.000-07:002007-04-28T13:33:01.408-07:00The Breast Cancer Fund's Climb Against The OddsThursday evening marked the Fourth Annual Wine and Dine for the The Breast Cancer Fund's Climb Against The Odds, which was held once again at Brasa, hosted by my friends Linda Morton and Tamara Murphy. I donated a painting, which I was proud to see bring the Breast Cancer Fund more than $1500 after some fierce bidding!

The food and wine, as always, were fabulous. It was great to see so many friends there helping raise money for such a great cause, and I am also glad to have had the opportunity to meet a few of my own fans and patrons including Seattle Storm coach Ann Donovan.

In July 2007, Linda Morton will join a team of breast cancer survivors and others whose lives have been affected by the disease in Climb Against the Odds ~ Mt. Shasta, the eighth major mountain climbing expedition hosted by the Breast Cancer Fund. Their inspirational team will strive to raise $500,000 for breast cancer prevention initiatives, will work tirelessly to increase awareness of the harmful health effects caused by environmental toxins, and will express the strength and courage found in the challenging climb to the top of a 14,162' dormant volcano in Northern California.

Please consider donating even a few dollars to help this great cause.

TO DONATE -
https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=212883&supid=74408794

Rachel Doryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728026434857854734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8545548482975312139.post-10290632677732253512007-03-01T15:07:00.000-08:002008-12-12T16:27:17.812-08:00You're invited - Annual Studio Party!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qynO4Y6ycag/ReddywLNSAI/AAAAAAAAAA0/2z5KBbR6ZIo/s200/HS2007masquerade.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5037097834743941122" />
Hype Schwartz / HS Creative / Rachel Dory Annual Studio Party - you're invited!
Saturday, March 10, 2007 - 7pm to midnight
masquerade attire, no children please
cocktails and hors d'ouvres served, piano performances throughout the evening
more info here: http://www.hypeschwartz.com/studioparty_2007.html

Rachel Doryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728026434857854734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8545548482975312139.post-79513888261061176512007-03-01T15:05:00.000-08:002008-12-12T16:27:18.038-08:00Flight to Mars - 12 Photos Invitational : tonight only<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qynO4Y6ycag/ReddgQLNR_I/AAAAAAAAAAo/TKGOuqSo-p0/s200/1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5037097516916361202" />
Flight to Mars - 12 Photos Invitational
one night only - Thursday March 1
5pm to 10ish
314 2nd Avenue South
(kitty corner from Zeitgeist in Pioneer Square)

Showing work by:
Bevin Keely
Carey Christie
Dave Martinez
Jason Cundey
Kelly Davis
Kelly O
Lara Eve Feltin
Leo Spizzirri
Matthew Freedman
Mercedes Yaeger
Monica Hammer
Prentis Hale
Rachel Dory

preview my work here: http://www.racheldory.com/gallery.html

Rachel Doryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728026434857854734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8545548482975312139.post-67785786785703847072007-02-23T14:10:00.000-08:002008-12-12T16:27:18.154-08:00New Blog, yippee!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qynO4Y6ycag/Rd9pg4mdWdI/AAAAAAAAAAc/Qprp9u-LpAA/s200/sm4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5034858922093926866" />
I have a new blog, folks!
