Goodbye 2008 Charity Party @ Ben's Cafe
Every end of the year we’ve been donating for the people who need our help.
We had Olympic Games at China in this summer, and we expected to fix the human right situation under the Chinese government.
Unfortunately we couldn't get any change in China....
We still try to fight to continue for suffering people under the Chinese government as well as Tibetans or so...
So this year, we place a charity box for giving aid to The Amnesty International Japan which is always fighting for human rights in China and the world.....
We provide free buffet made by our brilliant Chef Rei.
Please enjoy our free buffet but donate some money in the box we prepared.
Also please buy your some drinks from our counter......
Free Bufeet start from 7:00pm also Dave's special table magic start from 7:00 too.
Mac Okuyama and his friend will play the nice music from 8:30pm till 11:00pm.

Printed matter Press (www.printedmatterpress.com) presents another Fifth Sunday Fiction Series reading on Sunday, August 31, from 5 PM at Ben's Cafe in Takadanobaba (www.benscafe.com).

The featured reader will be Janice Young, author of the novel Sweet Dauma: a Japan Satire.
Also reading will be Japan Times writer and novelist Michael Hoffman and Yuri Kageyama, author of Peeling.

There will be an Open Stage for writers of fiction or creative non-fiction (no poetry please) limited to 10 minutes, but readers can come back for another 10 minutes in the 2nd set.

You can sign up on-line at this e-mail address or at the venue with host, Hillel Wright.

Printed Matter Press books will be for sale at enormously discounted prices due to the publisher's moving to a smaller (high-tech) space.

チベットで拘束されている政治犯の釈放を・・・・・

チベットの人権を守るという約束が守られることを・・・・・

カフェに来られる方はいらしてください。

こられない方もご自宅の窓辺にキャンドルをともして一緒に祈りましょう。

心は一つです。

そしてこの一週間にチベットを題材にした映画を上映します。

映画は「セブンイヤーズインチベット」「ザ・カップ」「チベットの女」

「ヒマラヤを越える子供たち」などを順次上映。

TOPIC:TIBET CASE ACTIVISM IN TOKYO!

Freedom of religion, expression and association continues to be severely restricted in Tibet. Arbitrary arrests and unfair trials also continue.
Over 100 Tibetan prisoners of conscience, mainly Buddhist monks and nuns, remain in prison.

The Tibet group works on the case of a prisoner of conscience, Lobsang Sherab, a monk from Drongsar Monastery, who was imprisoned for anti-revolutionary activities in August 1995.
He received a 16 year sentence at that time and is currently being held in Drapchi Prison in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Guest: Ms.Ayumi KOJIMA : Previous champion. ( 15 mins performance. )
Your poems and performance are prized by the audience by voting in cash.
Not focus on win-lose, but training yourselves.
The cash pays to each poet.
Poetry is enjoyed from teens to 60's (or even older) in an international atmosphere drink one hand.
Young-and-old-of-both-sexes, any nationality are gathering here.
Those readings at Ben’s café are still supported as mecca-existence of poetry reading in many directions in Japan.
Poets and artists are visiting here as a place of information exchange too.
