The latest addition to the ever expanding M.J. empire is the recession-friendly basics line Jacob by Marc Jacobs, which hit stores this past week. Everything—with the exception of a set of straw fedoras—is under $100, including a cashmere sweater, some playfully bright bangles, even a leather-trimmed tote. But as much as I love the idea of accessible Marc Jacobs, I’m still a little torn over just how wide this designer can spread himself and still feel fresh and innovative. I mean, a T-shirt can be anywhere from $10 to $1000 depending on which level you want to shop at. What do you think?

Motives Muse Event: A GREAT Success!

What an exciting few days it has been! I'm absolutely exhausted, but I feel wonderful! Last night, I hosted the first-ever Motives by Loren Ridinger Muse event for beauty editors from some of the top fashion and beauty magazines out there. I'm talking Good Housekeeping, Lucky, SELF, Allure, US Weekly -- it was fantastic! I showed several looks inspired by some of the most gorgeous women in history--think Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, etc. The editors were very impressed with the line. I can't wait to share photos from the fabulous event with you. I'll upload them for you as soon as I decompress, whew! Here are some images from the event invitation to tide you over. Until then, I'm going to reward myself with a nice, warm bubble bath and a long nap!

Once upon a time, men went to their local indie record store or underground club to expand their music library. These days, you merely need to click to Pandora. This smart internet radio website is deeply addictive. Just type in the name your favorite band: Pandora will automatically play some of its songs along with music from other bands with a similar sound. Give a song thumbs-down and it disappears from your playlist forever. Give a song thumbs up, and the site automatically hunts for more songs like that one. (Oh, and then you can go to Apple iTunes and download them.)

Speak: Have any of you tried Pandora? If so, what’s the newest, coolest musical group you’ve turned up?

The Skin:
Little Eddie was known for two things: flawless, pearly skin and dramatic lips. So begin with Motives® Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 on your skin tone. To pull this off in an unscary way, you want to use Motives® Essential Brow Kit to create a subtly arching, dark brow that follows your natural curve. It’s always a better idea to use powders, as opposed to pencils, for this, as the latter tends to be too harsh. Next, carefully blend Motives® Pressed Eye Shadow in Chocolight along the crease of your eye. Be sure to start just above the crease, so when your eye is open you still see the natural shade beneath. Then finish with a light coat of Motives® Lustrafy Mascara.
