Help Me Choose a Wordpress Theme

I need your help. I recently won the Wordpress theme Giveaway contest on WP Theme Designer . There was a Giveaway of 30 Premium Wordpress theme. I got the 10^th position. I choose Winners Choice Theme from Blogalized .

Blogalized currently have some 7 themes. I have been given 5 days time to pick one from those themes. I need your help in picking one of them. I am not able to decide what theme is good. I do not know much about the taste of WordPress theme. You know I am not a WordPress Guy but a Blogger Guy. Please help me decide. You can have a look at the different themes on their Product Page. After you have a look at the themes please leave a comment here telling me which of the theme you liked. Please do hurry as I have to pick the theme within 5 days or I will get nothing.

I am sorry that this post is so small. I am currently not feeling healthy. I am down with fever. I was sleeping the whole day and not able to work. Now there is no electricity for some 3-4 hours. Any other thing to consider

Yes, it uses global memory compression when freeing memory but can also use old-style auto freeing (which comes from older version is 1.1x) but is not recommended. By the way its Latest version: 1.52 and was Released on 3-22-2006. Plus I am using it on my Desktop PC without any problem for last 2 year.

Ending thoughts and Review

A very capable ram optimizer, using less system resource and a file size of below 1 MB [606 KB (.zip format)] makes it an ideal ram optimizer and must to try out. I do not know why they are not upgrading this utility. It does not support Vista so it is not for Vista users but I can tell you it is the best for Windows XP. Many are still using XP and this utility is a boon for them.

My Blog Contest Winners

These are not big in size, most are below 10-15 MB mark thus making downloading no problem even for dial-up connection. These are provided for downloading and installing during duration of one day (24 hours as stated in above paragraphs), which could be increased if the software companies allow. The software and games must be installed before the time expires. When they are installed during the duration of the time given, giveawayogtheday.com will activate it to full version (must be connected to internet).

That’s not all there are some more features as well. They also have freeware library which is readily updated. They also provide banner to place in your websites and blog sites. These notifies of the program which is provided by them. My review, it’s a good service though now days their quality seems to have decreased. I am a great admirer of this service. I used to visit it every day downloading every software and games I liked (I do not do so now). I was full of games and softwares then. I sometime lost opportunities of getting to quite good titles of software and games when I forgot to check them. Well the website is very active you will find almost 100s of comments on every giveaway. You can judge the worthiness of their giveaway from those comments.

Today is just 28th of the Month of June 2008. Summers are gone and now the rain Gods (I mean Clouds) fly around. Rain, water and mud is here and there somewhere yet nowhere. The weather brings more laziness in me. Feeling all bored. Feeling all sleepy. STOP! What the Crap?

Oh sorry! I am just feeling Lazy these days. I know I have to keep up my spirits and keep on blogging. I am trying my best and even coming with all possible good contents. But I think my blog needs something more. I need something my visitors would like to hear from me. What my Visitors and friends need from me? What contents they need from my Blog? Now let me think. Let’s see. Money Making. Yes, all love money. Now Reviews. Yup they want them. It’s the veins of my Blog. I can never leave that. Blogging. Oh that’s already a part of my blog. I got few good contents. But I think you all need something more. What is it?

Now it is better to ask the audience that walking my mind here and there. Yes you are going to decide what all contents I should blog on. Now first of all, Reviews will be the main part of this blog. Damn! today I got late in posting my article. I had my ideas in my mind for hours but could not jolt them down on the paper. I am bit lazy. By the way I am happy that I am not breaking my daily blogging rules.

Blogger's Block cannot be Avoided

Its completely true, no blogger can ever avoid Blogger's Block. How I came to this conclusion? Because I have hit this Blogger's Block thing more than twice with my blog. Today is the second time it strikes. You might be thinking if there is a Blogger' Block then how there is a blog post.

Ha ha...I told, it cannot be avoided but you can overcome it. I have heard of this block for nearly a year. I learned about it while I was just starting my blogging. For me it's really no concern but I have seen many blogs fall. Just yesterday Jason of TUK ran out of ideas but he managed to overcome it and made a simple post asking for what he should write. Now that many of you can do as well. But there are many more ideas for you. I have seen a idea which I never liked. Many bloggers advise to keep some reserve articles. Well for me this is of no good. If you do reserve article you will hit Blogger's Block more often. Yes that's correct, when you have article reserved you feel like you can take some days off and at last will end up with no articles to post. Reserving articles may work if you become sick or go for holiday. But if you reserve article for too much time they become rotten articles. These are just my views. If reserving articles work for you than do so. Now I will be keeping this article little short. I currently do not have much Idea on how to overcome Blogger's Block(may be I do not wish to tell you now, Some other day). But do not worry this article will be as useful and informative as my best article(like they exists).

Some Online Counters you must Display

Online counters show the number of counts. They may show the number of hits, unique users, user online etc. Here I will not be discussing hits counters. I personally do not feel there is any need of displaying them on the page.

I will be discussing about 3 counters which are worth displaying on your blog or website. They are as follows.

Feeds/RSS counter

Most of the Bloggers already use FeedBurner and know how to display the feeds count. For those who already do not know, FeedBurner is the leading provider of media distribution and audience engagement services for blogs and RSS feeds. Now by using it we can get stats on the number of feeds subscribers and other vital and useful stats. We can also display the number of Feeds subscribers. You can see my Feeds Counter at the top right of this page. This counter looks just like below. I have more than 55 Feeds subscribers but the display is always less.

Why we should display it? Well it represents your active readers. For a blog active readership shows its worthiness. If your feeds subscriber number is big then it will surely attract new visitors. A feed count of more than 100 is considered good. Even if you have small amount of users you should display the count. For blogs it is really important to display the Feed Counter. As far as I know it does not have any bad effect on any blog. If you want yours Feed Counter than sign-up at FeedBurner .

Twitter Counter

Twitter is a free service that lets you keep in touch with people using the web, your phone, or IM. Join today to start receiving. If you are already using twitter you know how useful it is to reach others in the world and also is a great source of new targeted traffic. What Twitter counter does is, it show the number of followers under you. You can see my Feeds Counter in right sidebar. This counter looks just like below.

Why we should display it? As it shows the number of followers, it is telling about your reach. Now if you want more twitter users to follow you then give them a reason to follow you. The number of followers can become a reason too. If you already have a good number of followers, than more people will follow you and eventually it will serve as a good traffic source (This is just my idea). To get it go to Twitter Counter. User Online counter

This is a very simple counter which represents the number of users currently online. You can see my User Online Counter in my footer. This counter looks just like below.

Why we should display it? First of all this counter will have a positive effect if you have got a good traffic. It goes like this, if a new visitor visits your page and sees that there are more people viewing you page at that time. He will think the page is really worth a view. He will simply want to know how good your content is and why others are reading it. It may sometime have bad effect when the case is opposite. But it is sometime only while the positive effects are more often. You can get one for your self at Amung Us.

What really is a SCAM?

I have many a time heard of Scams and I was scammed sometimes too. But I clearly do not know what things can be called Scam. I know that if you are cheated for money it’s a Scam. OK Before I discuss any further I have something to share.

Yesterday I wrote a review on a crazy service called Free Web 2.0 Upgrade. Now this program or service is not yet launched. It will be launched on July 1^st. Read more about it in my last post. Now this program is giving away one million dollars. I know it sounds fishy. As I have stumbled upon this program more than twice in this month, I thought it worth a review. If you have read my last post or have heard of this thing, you might already be thinking if it’s a Scam or is it for real. To be true to myself I do not know. As this service is free I DO NOT HAVE PROBLEM TRYING IT. I received a comment for my last post few hours ago. As I was expecting, the comment said it’s a Scam and gave me two links. I am grateful for those links. It’s a great aid to my reviews. By following the links I reached a forum and a blog. But I still could not verify if it’s a Scam or not.

Now how to determine if something is a Scam or not. This is the main discussion here. First of all, what things can be called a Scam? As far as I know the most common Scams are when you are cheated for money. Most common example of it is, you send money for some services or products but the service or product is not delivered to you. Another classic example being, you get an email promising you won something in lottery and ask for account details. In my earlier posts I also mentioned about PayPal Scams and Frauds. Now most of us can easily recognise Scams like this. But there many more Scams as well. I have seen some GPT and PTC programs being called Scams as they did not paid the money. We are able to determine these Scams as they have happened earlier but what about the new ones. There are a variety of them out in the internet. I know there are many sites which provide a list of Scam sites but what if they have not listed the site you are inquiring for. Now do you have any idea or tips on how to determine Scams?

Now I have also one more discussion. I just have a small question for you. Let’s see it as an example. You buy a product or service. Now there is no assurance that the product or service will be helpful. The seller has given some special instruction on how to use his product. He tells you that many have succeeded using that product (He is telling the truth, you do not know about it). You try your best but you are not even able to achieve even 20%. Will you call that product or service a Scam? What’s your answer?

This time I decided to test and research on this thing. As it is free I didn’t have any problem testing it out. First of all let’s see what this program is all about. Tutorial: Using Favicon and its Importance

I know most of you already know what a Favicon is and how to use it. But some of you do not know anything about it or do not use it even if you know about it. Many do not know its importance. Even if you are an expert read this article because I am not, but I know about Favicons.

First of all what is Favicon?

A Favicon (short for "favorites icon"), also known as a page icon or an urlicon, is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage. Now every thing cannot be understood by words so just see the screen shot below.

Now the small picture just left to the website URL is the Favicon.

Why is it Important?

It puts good first impression on your visitors. People have tendency to remember a beautiful picture for a longer time than good written materials. Now if you visit my website after many days then you will recognise my blog by my Favicon (If you forget the title).

How do you get one for yourself?

You can create such an icon, and many recent web browsers can then make use of them. Browsers that support favicons will display them in the browser's URL bar, next to the site's name in lists of bookmarks, and next to the page's title in a tabbed document interface. Favicons are mostly .ico files (a format of image) and are 16X16 in size. You can resize some bigger picture to 16X16 sizes and use it as a Favicon. You can create your Favicon online as well. Visit Favicon.cc . Need good software to make Favicon, use Irfan View. Remember you can also use .jpg, .bmp, .png and .gif as Favicon.

Now you have created a Favicon, how to put it on your website?

There are two simple ways to do. First if you have a web hosting plan on which the website is hosted, you just have to upload a Favicon file to the main directory. The file should be named favicon.ico and the final URL address of the icon should be http://websiteurl/favicon.ico. Second if you do not have permission to upload files to the main directory or you are hosted on others platform (Blogger blogs on blogspot and Wordpress.com blogs), than you have to use the following code in your web template. You just have to put the code below in the head section.

Replace ‘image URL’ by the URL of the image you are going to use as Favicon. It can be .ico, .jpg, .bmp, .png and .gif file.

I was pretty busy today. Mostly reading and watching some videos. I thought I will not be able to post today. I do not keep reserve articles. I always write and post on the same day. What should I do?

Thinking, thinking, thinking and thinking a lot. No idea at all. On this day of the week I always put a review of a useful website. Now as I was thinking, my brother came to me showed me an article on Optical Illusions. I read that article. I actually like Illusions a lot. Bingo, an idea in my mind. I went to Google search (I love Google) and searched for the term ‘Optical Illusions’. I browsed through many websites and at last came to a site which is worth a mention. This website has some new types of Illusions, which I have never seen or heard before. Now this site also has toys related to Illusions. I am not a child but I love toys. This website is “Grand Illusions”.

As I am visiting Grand Illusions for the first time, I do not have much to say. So this article is going to be short. This website is very beautiful in look. Every thing is well organised. Grand Illusions contains Optical Illusions examples and articles and Toys. Site is divided into 4 categories. First one is the Toy Shop where you can buy toys. You can buy many types of toys which may be related to maths, chemistry, biology, Optical Illusions, magnetism etc. They have a Leonardo Kit too. Second category is the Toy Collection where many toys are listed. These toys are not for sale. All toys in their shop and collection have an accompanying video. You can download those short videos. Items in the third category are examples of Optical Illusions containing different types of Illusions. In the fourth category there are Articles on Illusions. They have some lovely articles. The Best Audio-Video Converter Ever

Today I am going to review an excellent Audio-Video Converter. It is so good at it's work that I will never recommend any other Audio-Video Converter even if any one pays me 1000$ . Yes it is that good and guess what, it’s a freeware. Another reason I recommend it.

This Audio-Video Converter is called “SUPER ©”. It is by eRightSoft. SUPER © means Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer.As far as I know it is not well known software but as I have been using this utility for more than 2 years, I know how good it is at its work and not to forget it’s a freeware. I guess many do not know about this utility because it’s free. Ya, you rarely hear of any one asking or searching for freeware in category of Audio-Video Converters. I may be wrong with this reason though. Another reason which looks true is their site was not good looking until now. Now they have done some designing work with their website. If they wouldn’t have done so, no one would believe that this so beautiful (see screenshot below), useful and powerful software was hosted on such a bad looking website. I used to call it as diamond from a coal mine. Opps! These are no necessary thing to know.

I had lots of praises for this software. Well you do not need to believe me until you know of its feature. First of all this utility is targeted to professionals (I feel so) which means it can convert any well know format of audio and video to other well known format. The setup file is 25.5 MB as it supports as many formats you have ever known. Do you really want me to list the formats it support? I warn you it’s a long list.

jpg, pgm, png, ppm (with sequentially numbered-ONLY filenames) having the same filename numbered-ONLY format. Example: 0001.jpg --up to--> 0999.jpg.

Monetize your Blogrolls

The world is coming with new innovations and idea each and every day. There have been new innovations in the Blog sphere as well. Now there is a new innovative idea of monetizing you blog.

Now you can monetize your Blogroll. Yes, the Blogroll which used to be used for link exchange with fellow Bloggers. Now you can earn money from your Blogroll. I know it does not look like a new idea. Many Blogger used to sell links in their side columns. But that was not Blogroll in any way. They put the links in Sponsor column which I feel is not right. By the way, the innovative concept I wanted to discuss is automation of selling links in your Blogroll. For this there is a new service on the internet. This service is called “BlogRolled”.

This is a relatively new concept and not well known but it has lots of potentials. You might have seen a similar service by Scratch Back, where you have to install a widget and sell links. You could sell links directly. I do not like this service as it is not as good as BlogRolled. Before I tell you why this service is good just have a look at how it works.

“As an advertiser, it's an easy process. We have an inventory of publishing sites available to you, which you can search, sort through, and find publishers related to your product or service. Once you have found a listing you like, enter the details for your site and then checkout. Within a few business days of making the purchase, the selected publisher will place your ad live on their site.”

Now you might be thinking Why BlogRolled?

Well, having direct link ads in prime locations on a Blogger’s main pages will get the attention of visitors and naturally increase the link popularity of your site. Now here is my point it is good. As the links are same as text ads they are search engine friendly, user friendly and with greater impact on visitors. The links put through it will provide as a nice back link as opposed to putting some java script widgets. Will look as a part of the blog for blog publisher and serve as a traffic provider for the Advertiser. One other thing I like is that BlogRolled allows putting only 10 active Blogrolls per site. Publishers (Blogs) are accepted into the system based on a combination of link popularity, estimated readership (Alexa), and estimated RSS subscribers. Sp advertiser gets only good and well established blogs in the market place. Publishers also do not have to search for advertisers. If publishers’ blog is good then advertiser will seek them out.

Top 10, 15, 25, 100 or more

You might be thinking what’s with the title of this article. Well I am not sure myself why I wrote so.

By the way friends it was a little free day for me so I sat down and thought I should do something unique today, of course for my blog. So what if I build some top list. Then I decided to build a list of top blogs or Blogger. My first source as usual was Google search. I searched for the term “Top Blogs” .Its a simple keyword so I got lots of result. The first and foremost result was Technorati Top 100 Blogs. Now below is the info, what I got.

It's the most popular blog in the world, as ranked by Technorati.com, and won the Lifetime Achievement and Best Group Blog awards at the 2006 Bloggies.”

The ranks are based on the number of authority which means the greater the backlinks(from Technorati listed blogs) the better your rank. I knew about this list when I joined Technorati. So I proceeded forward and scrolled down a little and I got the result as below.

“Top100 Bloggers - Top Blog Directory”

Now this is a list based on daily hits and total hits to the blog. There are ratings and site details as well. It’s a little interesting. I do not know most of the top 10’s here. I didn’t read it full. They have facility of vote and comment on the list but I saw no comments at all and there were only few votes. Now list like this also exists. I clicked the next button and browsed some more pages. I got two more good results which are worth a mention.

First one is The Top 25 Blogs by Time.com. Now they have selected best about something—from politics and global affairs to shopping and sports from millions of blogs about nothing. Second was CNET News.com: First Blog 100 list. In 2006, CNET News.com introduced you to their first Blog 100 list. Its looks like a random list. There is no top 100 or like that but there are featured blogs.

Now after getting and reading these results, I thought are these top lists worth watching for me and my visitors. My heart said no but my mind said yes. Now I was fighting on this post, both with my mind and heart. The last result was I had to obey both. I listed the links here but I didn’t prepare my own list of top blogs. Really they are boring until you are in some mood to do business with them(top bloggers) ~~or want to cheat or spam them~~. I thought now 'what good content I should give to you all'. I searched more but this time with the keywords “Top List”. Suddenly I came to an interesting result. I visited the link and from there I picked 6 lists for you. They are really funny. First two lists are below.
