Who Watches The Watchers?

I remember when I first saw the "300" trailer. I had heard the Nine Inch Nails song "Just Like You Imagined" playing from the office next to mine and I immediately ran in to see what it was. I was blown away, not just by what I saw but how perfectly it was edited with the music. I couldn't stop watching it, I must have watched it at least 2 or 3 times a week, counting the days until March when the movie premiered... and it seems I am going to be counting the days till next March, snared by the same director and studio no less.

I caught the trailer during the previews before "The Dark Knight" and it sung it's hooks into me, not only by the wonderfully obscure choice of song which I love (a unreleased alternate version of "The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning" aptly titled "The End Is The Beginning Is The End" by The Smashing Pumpkins, which also coincidently appeared on the "Batman & Robin" Soundtrack) but how wonderfully it was edited with the music. I began reading about the book, which I had heard referenced to a while back when coincidentally reading about "The Dark Knight" when the first photos of Heath Ledger in makeup as The Joker first surfaced. Hard as fucking nails, and I don't even care if the movie sucks, the trailer is enough for me. And everything I read about Frank Miller's novel touted it as one of the greatest graphics novel ever, trumped only by a book called simply "Watchmen". Even while I had read the reviews of the prescreening of "The Dark Knight" and knew that Ledger's performance was something not to be missed, the trailers for the movie did not do much for me, not like the "300" trailers did and not like the trailer for "Watchmen" is doing right now. I bought the book for "300" to tide me over until the movie came out, and today I did the same thing for the "Watchmen".

Alternate reality where we win the Vietnam War and Nixon isn't impeached in '72, a psychopath donning a trench coat, fedora and full face mask painted with some kind of morphing black ink named Rorschach, a man called Dr. Manhattan who I can only assume is some horrible result of The Manhattan Project during World War II teleporting and disentigrating people. Sign me the fuck up. From what I've read of it almost sounds like Pixar's "The Incredibles" once loved superheroes forced into hiding against the people they were trying to help and then being forced into their up their old jobs because of a plot against them. Also I finally saw "Serpico" and Pacino is great in it. If you're a big fan of him go rent it, very cool movie. Also deals with the concept of who is watching the Watchers?

So I finished my first ever flash game last month, client decided not to use it because they're redesigning their site soon, which I was not really angry at because I learned all kinds of new trick with actionscript, mostly involving loops, the movieclip enterFrame function and animating in code to name a few. Below is the finsihed product, still got a glitch or two, and the chips are a little too bouncy for me but I'm still proud of it.

From massive BlackBerry blackouts to the UK nuking unruly teens with dog whistles, and lets not forget Russian bombers invading Japanese airspace just to harrass a US aircraft carrier... oh and the city of Berkeley kicking out Marine recruiters... and lets not forget that we may all soon be paying for how much bandwith we use at home. Wait I forgot the best one, Saudi Arabia banning all thing red because promoting people to "love" one another is a sin. What a day, can't wait for tomorrow. Oh and the Writer's Guild strike has ended!

HOVA, COD4, AND WORK

Been listening a lot to Jay-Z's new album "American Gangster" lately and loving it, especially the songs "Roc Boys", "Fallin'" and "Success". Also picked up Call of Duty 4 last week and am addicted to that, lots of awesome unlocked weapon upgrades and character "perks" in multiplayer, and single player is very entertaining too. Thank you for returning Infinity Ward. Got several personal pieces nearing completion, just put one up in Work section and should be putting some more up very soon. Also came across this interesting article about the Pay-Pal mafia that started the company and all the pies they have their fingers in now after it was bought out by eBay.

So Zack showed me this gory-ass trailer today for the new Alien vs. Predator movie... wow. After being dissappointed with the first one I'm glad to see someone taking another stab at it. He made a good point about the first AVP though:

"How can you take two franchises that both have all rated R movies in them and combine them into a PG-13 movie?"

Well the answer is you can't... well you can but it will suck hard. This new movie is apparently directed by two make-up special effects guys, so if the plot sucks at least it will look cool as hell.

GAMEFEST AND UPDATES

Updated site and will be updating it more later on today, two new sites under websites, Body Sculptor, and Florida Gators which is still being worked on. Have a lot of personal work that I will probably be finishing up soon, after of course I finish up my current project. Had late dinner with two friends last night who motivated me to start work on my crazy idea, which hopefully I can crank out an episode or two before Gamefest: 3rd Strike drops.
The mission will from now on be classified and only referred to as:

I finally decided to quit the MMORPG space I've been playing for about a year now, Eve Online. Not that it hasn't been fun or that I've met with and talked to interesting people from all over the world, from Australia to Russia to Norway to California. Even amid allegations of the game's company CCP secretly aiding an in-game alliance in cheating to our alliance making the New York Times in our protest against them... it seems to much like real life in the way the politics play out. Everyone is up in arms about the scandal of the week, then a few days later they seemed to have completely forgot about and moved on about their digital lives. So whatever I came to a realization that I should be devoting my free hours to more constructive work... not that I didn't get a chance with my much beloved Eve alliance Goonswarm. So here are some reditions of their famed "fat bee" logo that were requested that I made.

Fare thee well Eve, perhaps I shall retrun to you one day, when I can walk in a station and when Band of Brothers does not own half the universe...

The trailer for Day Watch is finally out, the sequel to the amazing Russian horror/sci-fi movie Night Watch, and the second movie in the trilogy. Ooh god I can't wait to see this, visuals look even more amazing than the first, glad to see it looks like all the same characters are in it too. If you haven't seen Night Watch you should definitely check it out.

Also my prayers have been answered, as I and my friends closely follow the amazing way Trent Reznor has decided to leak his new concept album "Year Zero" for free through a very intriguing ARG and I was musing on how it would be interesting if he made some kind of film to go along with his dystopian album, looks like he was thinking the same thing. Boy time flies, noticed a trend where I haven't updated this site or my deviant art site since about June last year, which is about the same time I started playing EVE online. Redesigned site alittle and decided to split pages up instead of putting everything on 1 page, updated work and website sections. Starting to like this site a little more, still thinking of doing a flash version but prob only to showcase work and still have this site. And according to CNN teenagers are beating up homeless people like hotcakes... what the fuck?

CGI Entertainment's new website launched today (actually launching, still uploading files as I type this) and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. Besides VisionAtlanta.com, it's the fastest flash site I ever built, completing it in around 4 days and looks pretty close to what I had envisioned in my head and put together in Photoshop. Also got to play around with a Flashloaded component that we bought but have yet to use, where you can edit text and pictures directly in the browser without having to upload anything or even open Flash. Not using it for this site simply because the two pages with the most editable content are also redudant to each other, just firgured it was a good model to test on.

ADOBE PHOTOSUCK

So after deciding to work on an ad and a website comp at home because Photoshop at work has been ludicrously slow I come to find that my copy at home won't export... okay... that's fine... I see how it is. So I pop in the CS2 disk to reinstall it and guess what? Still won't export. So I uninstall Photosuck, and guess what? The CS2 installer says that it is already installed and can't touch it. So I uninstall all of CS2 and reinstall and guess what? It is still saying that Photosuck is installed, and now I have corrupted directories on my hard drive that I can't delete too. So I delete all of the Abode directory, anything that even says Adobe in the Windows registry and after defragging two of my hard drives and running the disk checker that took up almost all of my Saturday guess what? Photosuck still won't install. So I install the CS1 version of it, and after much fumbling around Sunday trying to remember how much they improved the CS2 version of Photosuck I try reinstalling and guess what? It works... wait it works... wtf?! Okay, I officialy hate computers now. Oh well back to work.

Nothing fancy just something simple I can update fast. Plus I need to retune my CSS skills, so this will give me a chance to brush up on all the crap I've forgotten.
