well, we got home on sunday night. what an awful experience. i had a fever of 102 for 3 days. it seems though that this trip was doomed from the start.

first, i took a hard fall in san jose airport last saturday as we were leaving for LA. my left knee and right elbow took the brunt of the fall. OUCH!

we arrived at the dock to board the ship last sunday and were told that the ship had arrived late "due to weather concerns" and that we would not be able to board at 1:00pm like we were supposed to. so 3000 of us stood around in lines of groups 1-17 waiting to board. we were in group 11. the ship left port 4 hours late. the weather on our "at sea" days was cold and windy. i talked with some crew members that told me that the real reason the ship arrived late was because a passenger had died and they had to drop the body off in san diego. then as we were docking in pto vallarta, our ship hit a royal caribbean ship that was already docked. then i was diagnosed with the H1N1 and had to stay in isolation. J was able to get off the ship in both mazatlan and cabo. she was feeling like she had a cold coming on when she went to the beauty shop on friday night to get her hair done. while she was at the salon i was surfing through the few channels they have on board. and stopping on the "cruise channel" which shows the ships route on a GPS map. i looked at it three times because i thought i was hallucinating. we were about four hours out of cabo when the ship had to turn around and medically evacuate the captain because he had a heart attack. then we turned around to get back on track and hit a storm with swells as tall as the ship. last night was super fun on board... NOT! the ship was heaving and rolling and slamming back down. i was almost tossed out of bed a few times. we arrived in port at 2:45 pm (the normal arrival time is 7:30 am) had to clear customs along with the other 2998 passengers. by the time we got to the curb outside the cruise terminal it was 4:15. our flight was at 5:00 pm from LAX. i told the taxi driver to get us to LAX as fast as was possible without killing us and that guy rocked. we arrived at LAX at 4:46 pm. luckily our flight was delayed and we made it home. and i am NEVER going on a carnival cruise to the mexican riviera again.
