I'm at the sleeves on both. Both are having sleeve issues.
I decided to knit the medium of my Mermaid after trying it on at Stitches in the fall. The body seems to be fine (not yet blocked), but I'm able to try it on and it fits me fairly well (the boobage area is Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-47516446531900427032008-05-14T08:46:00.002-04:002008-05-14T08:58:58.045-04:00Perfect Weather for a Wool CardiganCindy Must Knit This Cardiganclick to enlarge
Don't even ask my why this got put aside, as I love knitting it. I'm sure I was distracted by an other project and during a "clean up" it got tossed into the closet. In the last two days I finished the second front and I'm halfway done with the first sleeve.
The pattern is my kind of knitting: simple to work and easy to memorize, yet it looks fab. Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-67837590953449784582008-05-12T08:45:00.002-04:002008-05-12T09:02:26.191-04:00Still DisappointedI frogged and redid the neckband on Matt's Gedifra pullover, and I'm still not satisfied. It'll be fine, but after loving this project, it sucks that it ends on a disappointment.
Matt's Gedifra 509 pulloverclick to enlarge
I thought about different options, and considering the "unfinished" styling on the bottom, I figured a simple rolled neckline would probably work well with the pattern. While Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-61777511130448296142008-05-11T21:09:00.002-04:002008-05-11T21:19:20.266-04:00A quick update before bed...I just cast off the neckband for Matt's Gedifra sweater, and the neckband isn't working. The pattern has you continue the cables up the neckband, but it's just not sitting right on him (plus it flares out and looks a little "frilly" for a guy sweater). So while I theoritically finished it by my self imposed deadline, it needs a little tweaking.
As for the rest of the sweater? He's thrilled. Oh ya, I'm that close. I have to say that I really enjoy knitting with the Cotton Ease. It's simply pleasant to knit and seems to just glide over the Knitpicks Options needles, even at this tight gauge. I'm thrilled with my stitch definition and I think Matt's very excited to have me finish this.
I should have it done this week. It was a pretty nice weekend. The weather stayed nice (and actually got pretty warm on Saturday and I ended up with just a little sunburn). I have to admit that the crowds get to me. Julie and I arrived very early Saturday (around 8:30) so we were able to get into some of the booths before it got bad, but by 9:30-10:00, the Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-53246873310902605302008-05-02T07:36:00.004-04:002008-05-02T07:50:18.100-04:00Speed Metal and Caffeinea very productive combo!
I got quite a bit done on the Matt's Gedifra second sleeve yesterday, thanks to Squizz and Starbucks Tassimo.
I also got the laundry done, but I still need to pack for the weekend (leaving this afternoon for Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival). I'm driving, so no car knitting. Hopefully I'll have lots of photos (ya, I know, I never remember to take pictures). Still a little damp (especially on the ribbing), but close enough to get some buttons on it and a little photo shoot. All I can say is that this will get a lot of wear this coming fall/winter season. Here's the back:

I should have photos tomorrow. Not sure why I was procrastinating, as I had the neckband done in about 3 hours. Yesterday's blog made me realize that I just needed to pick it up and Do It!!! Pre-blocking fit looks good... so this one might be getting a thumbs up.Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-15520719258132261002008-04-29T07:25:00.002-04:002008-04-29T07:34:38.742-04:00More Cotton Ease LoveNo pictures today, but I'm halfway done with Matt's Gedifra sweater. The back is done and one sleeve. I'm debating if I want to do the other sleeve or the front next.
I have to say that st. st. sleeves are not a favorite thing for me to knit. (Yawn) For some reason, that first sleeve flew off my needles, and I think it's simply that I like knitting with the Cotton Ease. The tighter gauge looks Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-82789853497530958992008-04-23T08:33:00.002-04:002008-04-23T08:49:50.326-04:00Some Knitting/SwatchingWhile I might be spending some, well okay, a lot, of time with Ratchet and Clank, I am still doing some knitting.
Matt's Gedifra sweater is 1/4 done... meaning that I have the back done. I've cast on the first sleeve, which I am adding some ribbing to. I'm a little concerned about the raglan shaping (which was not well written in the pattern at all), as I had to add a little armhole depth for Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-12805059504413998602008-04-21T09:38:00.002-04:002008-04-21T09:42:11.721-04:00Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of DestructionSo far, the newest game in the Ratchet and Clank series doesn't disappoint. These games are quite simply... fun. They're funny, clever with varied gameplay (no simple button mashing here). I think they're the best franchise in gaming.
Yes, I know some will say Super Mario or Final Fantasy or even the Grand Theft Auto... but no other game has allowed me to use a weapon that turns my enemies into Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-78292863836668886972008-04-18T08:46:00.003-04:002008-04-18T08:51:29.644-04:00Busy...
I had a wonderful birthday, thanks to Matt. The Phillies game was perfect... the weather, the seats, the game. The PS3 is set up and the new Ratchet and Clank game hasn't disappointed yet (and he also surprised me with the Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters for the PS2... yes, I have the PSP version, but I'm not fond of playing it on the PSP. We'll see how it plays on the PS2).
Thanks to everyone Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-8662636812610688332008-04-17T08:25:00.002-04:002008-04-17T08:42:19.271-04:00Found It!So the notebook was in one of my other knitting nests (ya, don't ask. There are very few places in this house that doesn't have knitting tucked into it somewhere).
However, it didn't have the notes I was looking for... which is this:
Yep, a nice little post it note with my sleeve decreases (and how far I am). Maybe I need a better system?
However, I did need the notebook for something else. With ALL my good knitting notes in it... you know, my Spring Forward, Matt's SOA, etc.
That's what it looks like, just in case you run across it somewhere. I checked my Fall Back Cardigan project bag and it's not in there. It's not in any of my travel bags (as I take it my classes a lot to show students how I work my numbers). It's not next to my knitting nest... and ICindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-7043800963636091972008-04-15T11:37:00.002-04:002008-04-15T11:39:28.185-04:00Hi, my name is Cindy...and I'm an addict.
I am officially up to 14 different colors of Cotton Ease. (Blossom and Turquoise has been added to the collection). I'm trying very hard to not to "complete" the collection.Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-44796269429886918962008-04-14T13:51:00.002-04:002008-04-14T14:04:59.930-04:00Hmmmm... HazelnutGedifra 509click to enlarge
Well, the photo is a wee bit closer today, but still nowhere close to the actual color of the Cotton Ease Hazelnut.
So it's moving along, with the cable variation section done on the back. Now it's just the "spine" cable the rest of the way. I do think I might add a little length on this for Matt. I think the styling of the sweater will be more attractive in a loose/Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-80921758750288799742008-04-13T09:46:00.006-04:002008-04-13T10:57:21.046-04:00I'm Not Swearing Off Acrylics... but...So I finally finished up the Cables & Rib Cardigan. Basically ended up having to finish it twice, as I needed to remove the sleeves and take 6" off (and remember how hard it was for me to finish up the knitting on those??? I then had to rip back a repeat and a half off each sleeve. Damn, I'm short).
Let's go over the project stats and look at some photos, eh?

Do you like how I say last sleeve, like there are numerous ones to knit instead of just two? Sigh, why is that second sleeve like knitting 4?
Anyway, I'm really struggling thru it. I so want to get this cardigan done. The fronts are blocking right now, the back it blocked. While the sleeves are blocking, I'll seam Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-49718539279880692252008-04-07T08:12:00.003-04:002008-04-07T08:17:36.702-04:00Quick Progress Updatewith no photos...
Mr. Greenjeans is getting there. The sleeves are both done and I'm better than halfway thru the cabled rib section on the bottom. I'm trying not to think about all that neckband ribbing.
The Cables & Ribs Cardigan is progressing really well. The back and fronts are done with the first sleeve better than halfway. I actually hope to finish that sleeve today.
After these two areCindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-20945985278620324712008-04-03T09:21:00.002-04:002008-04-03T09:39:35.313-04:00Two Weeks to KnitSo I have two projects that I would love to finish within the next two weeks. As I know once I have my PS3 (with the latest Ratchet & Clank game of course), my life will focused on that.
Mr Greenjeans is extremely close.

One sleeve done, the second sleeve is at the cuff and the body is about halfway thru the ribbing. I have to say that I've been very Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-17916767922898063582008-04-02T14:18:00.003-04:002008-04-02T14:42:53.501-04:00It's Knitting Season!!!Yay! Baseball season is underway... and it's my favorite sport to knit by. Maybe I'll get some things done.
I'm mostly still working on the Cables and Ribs Cardigan and Mr. Greenjeans. Matt's Patrick is still sitting next to me, but the weather has just been so springesque that I can't bring myself to work on it.
Spring also brings racing season and Matt's already done a few races. This year heCindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-46649886668008080892008-03-25T08:32:00.003-04:002008-03-25T08:46:07.821-04:00If I Had Only KnownSo I'm happily plugging away on my Cables & Rib Cardigan. I'm really happy with it so far. I'm a wee bit concerned about the blocking (as acrylic yarns don't really block). The ribbing does pull it in quite a bit, so it's going to need to be blocked.
So I have the back done and I'm cruising on the left front. First up, Patrick. Nothing like a sleepless night to get some progress:

About one more repeat before the armhole(yay!). All I can say is I'm glad Matt's not any taller! If I'm not distracted (by some new yarn arriving today) I hope to get to that armhole!
As a break for my sore hands, I'm working on the Cable & Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8268685.post-45108151416668456622008-03-19T08:01:00.002-04:002008-03-19T08:14:35.665-04:00What's Next?Anytime I finish something it usually takes me a while to settle into the next project. This time it wasn't so hard.
First, I'm still plugging away on Mr. Greenjeans. I'm only working on it during breakfast/Sportcenter time. I'm getting pretty close to the body being done. To the point I may stop where I'm at and do the sleeves. I'm getting a little concerned with how much yarn I have left. Oh, Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17937815362710581231noreply@blogger.com
