The above error occurred when we attempted to change the sa user password using sql server management studio.

This will happen when the size of the buffer created by application is less than the length of data retrieved from table.Mean s length of the column in the application specs is less than length of column in the database.
Practically in an enterprise this will happen only when someone plays with these lengths[either application end or database end].

So the approach is to narrow down the problem from View->Table->column.After this check whether the problem is with application specifications or with the database table specifications.

We faced this issue while connecting to Oracle database Release 10.1.0.5.0 from a Java program [via JDBC]. No probs with the OCI connection, sqlplus is fine.
The reason being, our Language,Country combination in the Regional and Language options[of control panel] doesn't fall under the Fully supported Locales.Hope this helps

This exception will be thrown when there are multiple JDBC drivers in the classpath and there exists some conflict among these drivers.So better remove the duplicate JDBC drivers and give a try.

The server principal "domain\windows user" is not able to access the database "DATABSE" under the current security context.
This will normally happen when ODBC Datsource in the ODBCAD32 is configured to use "With Integrated Windows Authentication" mode of authentication to the sql server.
The reason being that the domain\windows user is not added in the list of logins under the security tab of the sql server.
So the solution is to change the authentication type to "With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user".
Sometimes you cannot change the authentication from former to latter,especially when you login as a non-admin user.In this case you need to login with admin user and change the authentication type.

If a 32 application, running on a 64 bit application is trying to connect to sql server, then the data source should be created in the ODBCAD32.exe under[C:\Windows\SysWOW64\].
If the data sources are just created in the ODBCAD32, it will be created in 64 bit version and you might get the error "Data source name not found and no default driver specified".

Troubleshooting FAT client Installation

Sometimes FAT Client installation might fail at the end while creating environment variables or creating ODBC datasources etc.The best way to start troubleshooting the issue is by looking at the jdeinst.log/jdeinst.html in the c: directory.
If you notice that most of the stuff like database,specs, system folders are copied to your windows box and just environment variables,ODBC datasources are not set, you can give a try with the following command.
1] Win+R -> CMD
2] Navigate to directory where the install Manager setup.exe resides.
3] Now run the following command.
setup.exe -N -P DEMO -D E:\E900 -T Typical
DEMO is the PATHCODE.
E:\E900 is the location where we installed the Standalone E1/FAT.
