The company who filed a builder’s remedy suit against Hazlet Township during March, Elegant Properties, filed for summary judgment in the case, according to its president, John Tiger.
“We are confident we will be granted a summary judgment because Hazlet doesn’t have a plan, nor have they taken any steps in more than 20 years to file a plan,” Tiger said.

Firefighters combated an active structure fire at a two-story Middletown home that continued to smolder into Thursday afternoon.
The fire, located at 6 Tuller Court, was seemingly contained as of 1 p.m., although firefighters continued to hose the smoking ruins as the residential area was inundated with smoke.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, at roughly 4:30 p.m. the Middletown police received a call concerning a possible fire at the Quik Check on the corner of Highway 35 and Cherry Tree Farm Road, according to Andy Spears, the township's fire department spokesman. Fire units were dispatched to the scene, arriving within five minutes of the initial report, Spears said.
