Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's One Book, One Mesa County! We had a great turnout for the last event on March 1. Our panel discussion went well as both the audience and panel brought up great questions about this year's One Book selection, "The God of Animals."

Featured author Aryn Kyle gave a moving speech as she read from the last chapter of her book. Again, questions from the audience were great and Kyle was very open about answering them.

One Book, One Mesa County featured author Aryn Kyle signs books at the Clifton Branch Library.

Don't miss your final chance to see One Book, One Mesa County featured author Aryn Kyle speak. Aryn will be presenting for the final time at 2 p.m., March 1, 2008 at the Mesa County Libraries' Central Library. Kyle will present, answer questions, and sign books. Before her presentation a panel will discuss "The God of Animals" at 1 p.m.

Seating for the final event is limited so get there early to make sure you get a good seat.

Hi all!

This is the last week of One Book, One Mesa County events so let's finish strong. This week featured author of "The God of Animals" Aryn Kyle will be visting Mesa County. On Wednesday, February 27 Kyle will be visiting area schools. Kyle will be signing books at Mesa County Libraries locations on Thursday, February 28. She will also speak, answer question, and sign books at 6 p.m. in the Central Library Program Area.

March 1 will be the last day to participate in this year's One Book, One Mesa County. Starting at 1 p.m. in the Central Library Program Area a panel of experts will discuss topics brought up by "The God of Animals." Following the panel presentation Kyle will give her final presentation at 2 p.m. Kyle will also answer questions and sign books.

Please note that seating is limited at all author presentations. We do expect a good crowd so get there early! If you have any questions about this weeks events you can call 683-2435. See you there!

Submit photos in one of three categories surrounding the themes from the novel The God of Animals-- Western Colorado landscape and weather, ranch life and people, or horses.

This year's One Book, One Mesa County selection, The God of Animals by Aryn Kyle, is a special event because the featured author is originally from Grand Junction. Aryn Kyle grew up in Grand Junction and has received international acclaim for her first novel, The God of Animals. The book has been published in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Italy, Holland, France, Brazil, and China.

Amazon.com named it the "Best Debut Fiction of 2007" and ranked it No. 11 on its Best Books of 2007 list. The Denver Post also named The God of Animals one of the 50 best books of 2007.

Kyle is a 1996 Central High School graduate and an undergraduate alumna of Colorado State University. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Montana writing program. Her fiction has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Georgia Review, Story Quarterly, Best New American Voices 2005, and Best American Short Stories 2007.

Kyle is the recipient of a 2005 Rona Jaffe award given to women writers of exceptional talent.

Her short story, The Foaling Season, which became the first chapter of The God of Animals, won a 2004 National Magazine Award in fiction. She lives in Missoula, MT and continues to write.

The 2008 One Book, One Mesa County event will be a special one this year as the featured author is originally from Grand Junction.

Central High School graduate Aryn Kyle is the featured author of the 4th annual One Book, One Mesa County event.

Ms. Kyle will be in Grand Junction Feb 27-Mar 1 in support of her debut novel, The God of Animals. Desert Valley, the fictional town in The God of Animals, is based on Grand Junction.
