Glad to read your note about the book of James, which I agree is so great for Christian living. I've been praying and meditating on Hebrews 4:12 before my Bible study lately.
The big news around Sioux Falls lately is the Lifelight Festival over the labor day weekend. Believe that the Newsboys will be the headliner this year.

Let us look at Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalm 147:15 says.........

He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.

Ephesians 6:17 says.........

And take the helmet of salvation, and His sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Let us pray over these word's from our God. Paul thank you for sharing. You are a wonderful man of God! I use the King James Bible, myself.

Leadership and Spiritual Warfare certainly go together. I ask my Pastor Friends much about Spiritual Warfare. Many Christians do not believe in it or know what it is. It is my attempt today to share with you what God has laid on my heart about it.........

It's so cool to be in the Lord..... He speaks to us through the Holy Spirit.......So the Lord sent me to a book called, "The Leadership Secrets of Billy Graham".

Keep in mind the meaning of this word.........

1. A vessel made of a refractory substance such as graphite or porcelain, used for melting and calcining materials at high temperatures.
2. A severe test, as of patience or belief; a trial.

What a strange alchemy great leadership is! A potent combustible pressured into a person's life------like high octane fuel: once dark decay drawn from the deeps but suddenly in new form, ignited and powerful.
The furnace that forges leadership burns steadily, and this is particularly true among those charged with very large responsibility. Billy was a friend and counselor to many American Presidents during time of crises. All these chief executives experienced extreme personal testing. One can read in each of their lives, from Eisenhower through George W. Bush, growth through immersion in the crucible.

For instance, Ronald Reagan biographer Peggy Noonan uses just that word to describe the period when the future President, as a young actor, experienced a string of calamities, including near-death in a hospital, the fading of his acting career, and the loss of his marriage. Jane Wyman's filing for divorce devastated him. And yet this is a man whose legacy is his optimism, the man who stirred the morale of a nation with his upbeat charm. (WOW! Don't we miss him! sadly, many never know him!)

"these days were the crucible," writes Noonan, "the essential experience of his adulthood, the great educator, the time that formed him and that he referred back to all his life."

In the same way that Theodore Roosevelt modeled his life after his evangelical father, who had lived with such vigor and love, Ronald Reagan modeled his after his evangelical mother, "a little tornado of goodness," to use Noonan's phrase. (My models where my Dad, Mom, Grandpa and Grandma Caraway and Uncle Joe)

The great test came for Reagan came when, retuning from service in WWII, his career opportunities wilted, and he eventually found himself in a different war. As President of the Screen Actor's guild during the McCarthy blacklist battles, (Most Americans can't tell you anything about this time in our history) Reagan stood firmly opposed to the brutal tactics of the Communists, yet stood firm against the unfair accusations. he was caught in the middle, but the experiences toughened him, taught him, enabled him to take in stride unfair accusations and avalanches of press criticism. It also made him more intently a man of prayer!!!

Just one final part of the book I want to share with you.........

During his time in office as President, Reagan reached out to Billy Graham, who was going through what was perhaps the evangelist's greatest strategic crises. In 1982 it seemed the media and all America had turned against him for agreeing to travel to the Soviet Union, and seemingly being used by the U.S.S.R. for propaganda purposes. President Reagan took Billy aside. "You know what's been in the press," he said. "I believe that God works in mysterious ways. I'll be praying for you every mile of the way."

History now depicts both Reagan and Billy as heroes in those struggles in the early 1980's with the Soviets. But at the time, both had to meet those tests with the endurance of the tested leader.

Out of crucibles, positive leadership. paradox. Leadership requires awareness of one's own emotions and depths; awareness of multiple forces shaping perceptions and drives; awareness of the dark and the light and the large consequences of one's acts.

Spiritual Warfare

Satan uses militaristic structure to carry out his war plans against the work of God. Paul calls them “wiles of the devil”. Ephesians 6:11

“Wiles” means “organized conduct”, “plans of war”, “strategy” or “methodology”. I have said for years that we are not in a game of “tiddle winks”, “Play Station” or “Wii”. This is serious stuff. Satan is coming against all who belong to God in a power on slaught of powerful devices with goal of destroying anything and everything that belongs to God.

Paul gave a stout warning to the Corinthian believers about being “ignornant of his devices”. Remember in the Old Testament where Satan led Lot into Sodom, drove Abram into Egypt and tricked Peter into denying Christ Jesus. It was Satan who made Ananias and Sapphira lie to the Holy Spirit. It was Satan who even attacked and tempted the Lord Jesus Christ. If Satan is so bold as to attack Jesus, he certainly will not hesitate to attack you and me. Peter says, “be self controlled, be alert, for the enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whomever he can devour.” I Peter 5:8

Remember, friends, that spiritual warfare is being carried out on Satan’s territory, not ours. This world lies in the power of the evil one, for John wrote, “…and the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” I John 5:19

So, what is Satan trying to do. He has 3 primary goals.

1) He wants to destroy your life, my life and every Christian.

2) He strives to destroy unity, purity and oneness in every family and Christian homes especially.

3) It is his top priority to destroy and work of the body of Christ, the church, by embarrassing it publicly, eroding her ministry, discrediting her leaders and wiping out her finance base.

When Peter describes the work of Satan as a “roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” we are talking serious business. The word for “devour” is the same word translated “drown” in Hebrews 11:29. Satan wants to completely engulf and overwhelm every Christian, every home, and the entire body of Jesus Christ, the church. He wants to drown, to extinguish the fire of my faith, your faith and the church so that there is no influence left. And, he will use every device and deception to his advantage to destroy the bride of Jesus Christ.

So, my friends, be alert, be on guard. We must control our minds and our actions and bring them under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and be warriors fighting for our families, for our friends and for the church of our Lord Jesus Christ. Fight, stand. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. NO compromise. Pray for one another.

Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin

All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. Pass it along and be proud of the country we live in and even more proud of those who serve to protect our 'GOD GIVEN' rights and freedoms

I hope you take the time to read this..... To understand what the flag draped coffin really means.... Here is how to understand the flag that laid upon it and is given to so many widows and widowers.

Do you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776?

Have you ever noticed the honor guard pays meticulous attention to correctly folding the United States of America Flag 13 times? You probably thought it was to symbolize the original 13 colonies, but we learn something new every day!

The 1st fold of the flag is a symbol of life.

The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in eternal life.

The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world.

The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance

The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, 'Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.'

The 6th fold is for where people's hearts lie. It is with their heart that They pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States Of America , and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic.

The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day.

The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.
The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born.

The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.

The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their nations motto, 'In God We Trust.'

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today.

There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you'll see flags folded and now you will know why.

Share this with those who love what is referred to as, the symbol of ' Liberty and Freedom.'

MAYBE THE SUPREME COURT SHOULD READ THIS EXPLANATION BEFORE THEY RENDER THEIR DECISION ON THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. FORWARD IT; MAYBE SOMEONE WITH THE NECESSARY POWER, OR POLITICAL AND FINANCIAL INFLUENCE, WILL GET IT TO THEM.

IN THE MEANTIME, MAY GOD PROTECT US ALWAYS.

ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Now let us follow up that wonderful story on the flag............with another reason to fly the flag.........this is a part of American History that many AMERICANS have never known or have forgotten about.........

Ben Steele hated the young man as soon as he saw him.

Ben Steele at a Japanese coal mine prison camp in 1944.

The man's almond-shaped eyes, dark hair and olive skin -- Steele had seen those Asian facial features before.
He saw that face when he watched Japanese soldiers behead sick men begging for water, run over stumbling prisoners with tanks and split his comrades' skulls with rifle butts.
"Men died like flies," Steele says. "I thought for a while I would never make it."
Steele, now 91, is one of the last survivors of the Bataan Death March.
During World War II, the Japanese army forced American and Filipino prisoners of war on a march so horrific that the Japanese commander was later executed for war crimes.
Steele returned home to Montana after the war to teach, but he still had something to learn.
When he saw a young Japanese-American student seated in his class one day, he felt both anger and anguish.
What, he wondered, do I do with all of the hate I've brought home with me?
'The worst war story' he ever heard
Steele's answer to that question can be found in the new book "Tears in the Darkness," a searing depiction of the Bataan Death March.
The book details how Steele found help through an unlikely source. But he would first have to survive one of the worst defeats in U.S. military history.
In December 1941, Japanese forces attacked an army of American and Filipino soldiers in the Philippine Islands and forced them to surrender. They captured 76,000 prisoners, double what they had expected.

The Japanese forced the POWs to march 66 miles under a tropical sun to a railway station for transport. They shot, bayoneted and beat to death prisoners who couldn't keep pace.

At least 7,000 soldiers died during the march. More died later. The brutal conditions of the march contributed to the subsequent deaths of an estimated 25,000 Filipinos and 1500 Americans in Japanese prison camps, says Michael Norman, a Vietnam veteran who wrote "Tears in the Darkness," with his wife, Elizabeth.
"It's the worst war story I've ever heard," Norman says. "What they [the Japanese] did was monstrous."

Prisoners were forced to bury others alive and work as slave laborers; some were executed for sport. One Japanese soldier, who later became a Buddhist priest, told the authors that he is still haunted by what he did on Bataan.

Some Filipinos who live today near the march's route say that they, too, cannot forget what happened, Elizabeth Norman says. "They would tell us that when they lay awake at night, they thought they could still hear the trampling of the men's feet on the death march," she says.

Why Steele survived

The death march was filled with villains, but the authors also found a hero: Steele. The march is told through his eyes and drawings. Steele was a cowboy from Montana who could ride a horse, rope cattle and shoot by the time he was 8 years old.
"I thought that if anybody gets out of here, I'm going to be one of them," says Steele, who was a 22-year-old Army Air Corps private when he was captured.
At times, though, Steele wondered whether he was being too optimistic. He was bayoneted, starved and beaten. He was constantly ill, and his weight fell to 112 pounds.
Steele found a way to preserve his mind even as his body wasted away: He drew. He started sketching pictures of what he saw during his captivity.
"I felt an obligation to show people what went on there," he says.
Steele was released after three years of captivity when World War II ended. He returned to Billings, Montana, where he became an art professor at a state college.
"I had a lot of anger when I got home," Steele says. "We were beaten for so long. I hated [the Japanese]."
Steele meets his 'nemesis'
Steele's hatred smoldered for 15 years. It threatened to spill out into the open in 1960, when he walked into his classroom on the first day of the semester and saw a Japanese-American student.
In "Tears in the Darkness," Steele says that his "heart hardened and filled with hate." But he was so anguished by what he was feeling, he returned to his office after class to think.
He told himself that the war was over; he wasn't a prisoner anymore, and he had to treat the Japanese-American student like anybody else, because he was an American, too.
Then he did something else. He invited the student to his office for a talk.
The student's name was Harry Koyama, and he, too, had been marked by the war. His family had been imprisoned at a "relocation camp" in Arizona during the war.
Steele also discovered that he and Koyama had something else in common: a passion for drawing Montana's rural life. By the end of the semester, Koyama was one of Steele's best students.
Steele says that talking to Koyama helped his hatred evaporate.
"We had a discussion and finally came to an understanding that we liked each other," he says.
Today, Steele and Koyama remain in touch.
"We're the best of friends," Koyama tells CNN from his Montana art studio. "We see each other regularly."
Koyama says he can't remember exactly what he and Steele talked about first, only that Steele had always treated him well. Steele did tell him later that their relationship helped him recover from the war, he says.
"I was just there," Koyama says. "I just happened to be there for him to use my presence as a way to overcome his dark time."
Koyama says he is still amazed by Steele's survival story.
"Just to be a part of his life is an honor," Koyama says.
Steele's voice is still strong and his mind sharp. He's been married to his wife, Shirley, for 57 years, and they have three children and six grandchildren.
Steele says Bataan taught him to treasure small pleasures, like a drink of cool water and a warm bed at night. "I'm thankful that I have a plateful of food," he says. "I can remember when that plate was empty." He still remembers tiny details from the death march as well. He constantly draws pictures of his friends and tormentors on Bataan. Their faces fill his sketchbooks. Steele's hate may be gone, but the death march lingers.
"I think about it every day," he says. "It's in my mind, and I'll never get it out.

Shona Neff, heard Saturday mornings on KKIM at 7:30 has this report for us on the Beth Moore Conference this past weekend.........Sandy Harrington and Shona represented KKIM........

The Beth Moore conference was a true blessing. Women started lining up well before the event started and scurried to get good seats once the doors opened! (I hope they were all Christian on their quest for awesome seats.) Actually, there was no a bad seat in the house. The Santa Ana Star Center is a very user friendly venue once you find it in the boon docks!

The event started with wonderful worship music and Beth Moore gave an incredible message based on 1 Samuel 1-3. Her message was spot on and she introduced one of her special new friends who had come from Wyoming to hear her in Albuquerque. Without going into too much detail, it turns out that Beth's new friend spent 5 years (from age 3 to 8) in Dokkow Concentration Camp. When they were liberated by American forces, Beth Moore's dad was one of the guys who assisted the children. It seems a very special bond came full circle and it brought the crowd of 3000 to their feet as we praised God for an incredible journey that only He could orchestrate.

Sandy and I were blessed to meet many of the women who attended and stopped by to visit the KKIM table and sign up for the free gift pack we were giving away. One especially fun moment for me was reconnecting with my best friend from high school who I had not seen for 8 years (last time at our 20th high-school reunion.) We had a great time catching up on the lost years.

Dr. Miner's Weekly Wellness Wisdom
Last week I had the pleasure of going on vacation with my family. My wife Wendy and I took our 2 year old son Landon and our 7 month old daughter Verity to San Diego. This was the first time in a year that we took a week off and within a couple of days I realized how much my mind and body needed the break.

Early this week one of our clients brought in a research paper about the importance of time off.

Researchers from the State University of New York at Oswego conducted a survey of more than 12,000 men ages 35 to 57 who had participated in a large heart disease prevention trial. The results, presented last March at a meeting of the American Psychosomatic Society in Savannah, suggest that men who take vacations every year reduce their overall risk of death by about 20 percent, and their risk of death from heart disease by as much as 30 percent.

To their surprise, the researchers discovered that some of the men surveyed didn't take any vacation time over the five years surveyed. But instead of being rewarded for their dedication to the job, they suffered the highest overall death rate and highest incidence of heart disease of any of the participants.

So whether it is a vacation or a staycation, plan some time off to rest your body and connect with your family. Time off from work is one more part of your optimal health plan.

On Wednesday, July 15, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on
a bill that will allow public funds to be used to pay directly for
abortions in our nation's capital. If this measure passes, taxpayer money
appropriated by Congress will be sent directly to the abortion industry
in Washington , D.C.

Tell your member of Congress to oppose this change in the law and to
vote against the passage of H.R. 3170 if it continues to allow the use of
locally generated tax revenues - public money - to be used for the killing
of innocent human lives in the womb.

Since 1988, except for a short period under President Clinton, the
Congress of the United States has adopted language known as the Dornan Amendment that
limits the use of tax funds to pay for abortions in the nation's
capital. This amendment has been applied to both federally and locally generated tax
revenues - in short, all public funds - that are appropriated by Congress to the
District of Columbia . This amendment has protected women in Washington
, D.C. from the abortion industry and led many to choose positive alternatives
for themselves and their babies.

Now, pro-abortion members of Congress want tax funds used for abortion
again. If they succeed in doing so on H.R. 3170, this will open the door for the
repeal of nearly two dozen other federal laws that have similar limits on
the use of public money to pay for abortions, including through the pending
health care reform. The stakes could not be higher. Please contact your member
of Congress now and tell him or her to oppose H.R. 3170 if it allows the use
of locally generated tax funds for abortion. Please act now as the vote is
likely to happen on Wednesday, July 15.

WOMEN WHO KNOW THEIR PLACE

Barbara Walters, of 20/20, did a story on gender roles in Kabul,
Afghanistan, several years before the Afghan conflict.

She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands.

She recently returned to Kabul and observed that women still walk behind
their husbands. Despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the
women now seem to, and are happy to, maintain the old custom.

Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked, 'Why do you now
seem happy with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?'

The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes, and without hesitation
said, 'Land Mines.'

I thank all of you who show so much Love to me and Sharon and family. We Praise God for you all.

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"
whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that." James 4: 13-15

The Lords will....not ours. One of the toughest lessons I have had to learn and still have to work at everyday of my life.

A retired sportswriter with the Rochester, NY newspaper died last week..........in the write up about his death they said he had all sorts of plans! He was just 56. The writer of the article said, "If you want to make God laugh..make plans. There is certainly a lot to be said for that!

We have to make sure that God is at the front of those plans.

Time is short.........we must spread the GOOD NEWS........

The book of James has become such a vital part of my guide for life with Jesus Christ. I think that Chapter 4 is so AWESOME! Read it please, and let me know your thoughts.

What would happen if we all guided our lives by James 4: 13-15?

My 93 year old Uncle Joe says People have got to get back to having the Bible be their guide and not themselves.

Seek The Lord first and foremost.........with all your heart and devour His word.

His will..........not ours.......

There never has been a book written with as much wisdom and common sense than the book of life........The Bible........because it is from God.

The Lord put James 4 on my heart because of what happened to the family in Rio Rancho.

At the July Fourth fireworks show in Rio Rancho, Jarrod and Jessica Truesdale put a blanket over their heads on their children as they hurried to their car.

Then lightening struck killing Jarrod, 26 and severely injuring his 26 year old wife, Jessica. At last report she was in a coma.

They have four children ranging from 18 months old to 7 years old.

The family is now speaking about this tragedy in public for the first time.

Jarrod was a soldier who served in Iraq, winning a medal for heroism after saving five people.

Jarrod and Jessica were High School sweethearts!

Please keep this family in your prayers...............and we have this note.............

As you may be aware, on July 4th in Rio Rancho a young family was struck by lightning. The father passed away almost instantly, the mother is still in the hospital, and the four children were treated and released. This family is in need of assistance.

There has been an account set up at First Community Bank Albuquerque accepting donations to aid the Lightning Strike Victims.

Please also continue to pray for Lenya Heitzig the wife of Skip Heitzig of Calvary Church in Albuquerque. Lenya underwent surgery to remove a tumor that is malignant. Lenya will be undergoing chemo. Please keep Lenya and the family in your prayers.

With success comes a problem. Just ask Nadab, Elah, and Omri. Or interview Ahab, Ahaziah, or Jehoram. Ask these men to describe the problem of success. I would, you might be thinking, if I knew who they were. My point, exactly. These are men we should know. They were kings of Israel. They ascended to the throne…but something about the throne brought them down. Their legacies are stained with blood spilling and idol worship. They failed at success. They forgot both the source and purpose of their success.

You won’t be offered a throne, but you might be offered a corner office, a scholarship, an award, a new contract, a pay raise. You won’t be given a kingdom to oversee, but you might be given a home or employees or students or money or resources. You will, to one degree or another, succeed.

And when you do, you might be tempted to forget who helped you do so. Success sabotages the memories of the successful. Kings of the mountain forget who carried them up the trail.

The man who begged for help in medical school ten years ago is too busy to worship today. Back when the family struggled to make ends meet, they leaned on God for daily bread. Now that there is an extra car in the garage and a jingle in the pocket, they haven’t spoken to him in a while. In the early days of the church, the founding members spent hours in prayer. Today the church is large, well attended, well funded. Who needs to pray?

Success begets amnesia. Doesn’t have to, however. God offers spiritual ginseng to help your memory. His prescription is simply, “Know the purpose of success.” Why did God help you succeed? So you can make him known.

Why are you good at what you do? For your comfort? For your retirement? For your self-esteem? No. Deem these as bonuses, not as the reason. Why are you good at what you do? For God’s sake. Your success is not about what you do. It’s all about him—his present and future glory.

Dearest Dewey, Sharon and family. Gods Peace and Love
Today when I received your email, it started me thinking on my life. It seems that when I get your updates and 'Food' through this machine it just makes my day Dewey. I know you are a busy man. And I thank God that you have Sharon as a mate. She no doubt is the bond that holds things together. Our Lord has just made it that way.
But technology has made it where you can reach so many Dewey. And I for one am so very thankful for that.
I just wanted you to know, God has answered prayer with me. I'm feeling just great these days. The last dose of shots in my neck have worked. Last night I realized I had only taken one pain pill during the entire day! For me that is a miracle. When I'm not in pain I don't' even think of taken them. So today is a terrific day! I'm actually going fishing with my son. (My favorite thing to do!!)
So all the prayers and all the thoughts of me from all the children that pray for us in need, have been answered! I sure hope I can have the rest of the summer pain-free. What a miracle that would be.

I am playing catch up here Sunday morning having a cup with you all and praying for you all. I got way behind with the 4th of July and taking sometime off. Please forgive me for being late on some things. I am still working on my daily walk to become a Pastor and also working on our house in Los Alamos. Please keep all this in your prayers. I do not like to disappoint anyone.

"But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus." Acts 20:24

One thing that sadden's my heart is when people leave KKIM and the Cup when they don't agree with my stance or answer on Biblical issues. I always seek the Lord's will and also counsel with other's on tough questions. My Dad always told me, "Son, if you do not have any enemies in life, that means you don't stand for anything." That is what I have to remember.

I even find that too many Christians do not want to be held accountable or they want God to arrange life for them.

But, I think the toughest thing for many is they do not like to be held accountable and many will search years for "something" that fit's their needs!

Let us pray..................

Lord, We pray today for all the needs that we have listed here on the Cup today.........We pray that all will turn to You and Your will! We will pray over James 4: 13-15........In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

PRAISE GOD! Our house in Los Alamos is now going through a home inspection as the final process to be sold! Thank you so much for your prayers. Please continue your prayers through the sale process.

I am sad to tell you that I am not keeping up with phone calls and emails. I tried to take a couple days off over the 4th and my emails and phone calls built up. I had one person get after me about not answering and I did my best, but I don't think I pleased her, as I need to pray before I answer certain questions. One of the problems of modern day communication is that many expect an instant answer. (I used to be one of those) What happens in emails is that people in a hurry to get an answer can say something that hurts the other party. I really believe with email, instant messaging, and now this thing they call twittering, the QUALITY of communication is not at it's best.
I go back to one of my favorite verses that I posted this week...........

Kind words are like honey.......sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Proverbs 16:24

So I have too tell you that I have started to do something that goes against me grain.....I am not able to respond to every email and phone call right away.(On a daily basis I deal with nearly 1,000 emails, not counting phone calls) I will always respond right away to urgent messages. I want you also to know that I pray for the words to use in my replies.........and God does not always give them to me right away. There is something to the phrase that I was told years ago.......Silence is Golden........

Silence gives us the opportunity to hear God. That is why sometimes after someone says something to me on the radio like yesterday........there was a bit of dead air.........because what she said was so profound..........I felt that her words needed to sink in........to the heart and souls of us all.

With all our modern technology in communications, I don't think the quality and love has improved.........I actually think it has gone down hill, people want quick replies........How would we have functioned when we only could write letters and use the phone?

Something to chew on and pray on for awhile.

I just love seeing and feeling the love between children and their Parents. Lars told me the other day, "Dad I love you so much thanks for listening to me and helping me, most dad's don't do that anymore." Lars get's that from his friends that a lot of dad's are disconnected from their kids.

I love to see Pastor Leonard Navarre around his grand kids.........Lot's of love there!!!

After talking to my buddy Chris who manages KKIM's Sister station in Bakersfield, California....when his Mom passed away.....I could feel the love through the phone between this Son and Mother. Chris has sent us the obituary of his Mom, Henrietta. Let us give Praise to God for the life of Henrietta!

Henrietta Louise Squires 1921 - 2009 Greenlawn Mortuary To some she was known as Detta, "Henny Penny," the Rufners cosmetics lady, the costume lady, but to family she was "Mom," and "Granny." Henrietta Louise Squires went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2009 after leading a full life. She enjoyed her gardening, her antiques and visiting with her treasured friends. The loving daughter of Roy and Anna Gillespie, she grew up in San Bernardino with her sister Gloria and brother Bill. She often shared memories of her childhood and it was clear to all of us how important her family was to her. Detta married Victor Squires and was a war bride while Vic was flying missions for his country. After the war, they lived in San Bernardino and Canoga Park before settling in Bakersfield. Although she worked several places during her life, she loved the people she served at Rufners and considered them friends. We would often be out around town and people would come up and tell her how much they missed her and the store. She so enjoyed seeing and visiting with them. After Detta retired, she kept busy helping to sew and dress the cast of many local theatre presentations. A woman of many talents, she was a quilter, seamstress, oil painter and gardener. Although she was homebound the last few years, she had dear friends who called, wrote and came by to spend time with her. Her church family at First Presbyterian was so faithful to bring her flowers and communion on a regular basis. Thank you to you all as she so cherished your visits. Detta is survived by her son Chris, her daughter Vicki and husband Gary Witcher, her grandchildren Michelle, Jason, Christine, Gary Jr., Josh, Angie and 8 great grandchildren. We will miss the conversations, the Saturday trips to Farmers Market, arguing politics, and her presence in our lives. We love you Mom! Services will be held Friday, July 10, 2009, at 9:30AM at Greenlawn Mortuary and Cemetery (River Blvd. and Panorama Drive).

It is no surprise that the stimulus package has failed..........State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones who announced on Wed. that she is going to run for Governor of New Mexico, says that her information show's that only 10% of the stimulus money has been released the rest is tied up in grants and red tape.

Will the President realize that his plan has failed? Then what will he do? I think there is a good chance that he will do what he should have done in the first place give every tax payer a check! But is it too late? We are so far in debt now!

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." II Chronicles 7:14

That is what the United States of America needs to do..........that is the best stimulus plan available!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all who sent birthday greetings.........your words are like honey! A lot of what you say touches my heart so much!

One must be careful when he his spoken too so highly that it does not go to the head. We are all 30 seconds away from you-tube!!!! I just pray that I don't do something stupid everyday!

Many of you have been praying for the sale of our house in Los Alamos for years now........yes years!!! Well, we have an offer, we will take a loss and not be able to make our financial obligations at the price being offered but we trust in the Lord that, that will be worked out also in His timing. We have made a counter offer and are awaiting word. Home values have fallen so much!!! Our house in Albuquerque is now appraised $100,000 less than we paid for it 2 years ago!!!! This is a huge problem across the United States. We put this all in the Lord's hands and we have asked the Lord for forgiveness for not always making the best decisions.

I am so thankful to the Lord to be able to be so open with you all. The body of Christ needs to work on that. We hide to many things from our Brothers and Sisters. We are to be the family of God. We need to know how to pray for each other.

Now let me share something with you that is in God's hands..........Many of you have been praying for my walk to become a Pastor. I am being guided by many.........It is getting closer...... We are doing paper work and letter's of references at this point......Sharon and I thank you all for your Prayers.

In all this, we pray for the Lord's will.

As we said months ago any stimulus money should have went directly to tax payers.........what has happened is the stimulus money went down the sewer, and this country is much worse off now, with no direction at all from the Obama Administration. This Country is being led by the flesh.........not the Lord.

The disciples had asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, so He gave them a model prayer. At the conclusion of the Lord's Prayer, He ends with a request that His kingdom and His dominion be established forever. Why did the disciples give their lives? Why do missionaries still suffer and die? because they know they are part of the greatest expansion of all time. They know that Jesus Christ is greater than any persecution, He is greater than any terrorist, and He is greater than anyone out there. He wants to have dominion worldwide, and He is going to do it through you and me. The advancement of His reign on the earth should be our number one priority as believers.

I have written about Manny Ramirez and how goofy Albuquerque became when he came here to play.......Even Sportscaster Bob Costas said what is going on with those folks in Albuquerque do go nuts over a drug abuser??? Why hold him up to our youth???? Sadly even our Mayor and Governor went and paid tribute to Manny!!!!!!!!! What does that tell us??????? Folks, it's things like this that eat away at our foundation of goodness!!!! or what's left of it anyway!!!

But get this...........

As baseball star Josh Hamilton writes in the July edition of Guideposts Magazine........as he battled drug abuse...........

I chose it over God. I dropped to me knees. Lord, I don't care if I never play baseball again. Help me get right with my family, and with You, most of all.

My eyes fell on the Bible Granny had put in my room. I picked it up and flipped through it. One verse, James 4:7, practically jumped off the page at me: "Humble yourself before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

Josh Hamilton keeps that verse at his lips everyday.......Josh is clean and his a STAR in the eye's of the Lord. he plays for the Texas rangers and is recovering from an injury at this time after a wonderful 2008 season.

Let us pray for Manny Ramirez and all those sports figures that are into drugs. Pray that they humble themselves before the Lord.

Let us all be Humble in the Lord.

Remember, this is not a Democrat..Republican....thing........It is a matter of the flesh........Do you want the Lord in your life???? Or are you going day to day on flesh? Don't look to a Political party for guidance.......look to God!

Many people who call themselves Christians fail! Don't put your trust in the flesh of man.

Let us pray............

Lord, thank you for answering prayer. We praise You for Your desire to respond to our prayers. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

Dear KKIM Family,

May the Peace and Strength of our Lord be with you and yours!

It is such a blessing to be with you today!

I can hardly believe it that half of the year is gone! WOW! Where did it go? Where did that stimulus package go?

I still get excited for birthdays! I will turn 53 on July 4th.......I just love that I was born on our nations birthday! People tell me that is why I am so patriotic! I don't know, I think I would be patriotic no matter what day I was born on! My Mom, Ruth, God bless her, was born on July 5th.........so we had back to back birthday's! My Mom lives in my heart to this day.......Her Bible was always marked up with notes and comments and she was always reading her Bible. Mom went to heaven in 1995 the year we moved to New Mexico.

When God speaks too us we must take action. I have talked to my Pastor friends...I am so blessed I have about a dozen Pastors that I seek advice and prayer from. That does not count Godly friends that I seek advice from. Where two or more gather, powerful things from God will happen! I am so thankful for the friends I have in God!!!! It is so AWESOME! They help me from doing something stupid everyday! If we are in tune to God we will hear His voice.......As you read today's CUP please know that God has spoken to me about these issues. It is time for God's people to take action on the topics we have posted here today. If we don't do it, who will? The blessing is that so many KKIM friends are taking action..........YOU are making a difference!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!! The KKIM family has really responded for God and HIS people! I PRAISE GOD for all of you!!!! The other night on KOB-TV news a 16 year old boy who was friends with the four that were killed in the drunk driving wreck looked right into the camera and said these powerful words, "I am just 16...it is up to you adults to get things changed in this state so we don't have a tragedy like this every other week." Yes it is up to us! Please see below in this posting a call to action on this issue.

The main answers are simple.

The freedoms that we have, that were established by our fore fathers of this country.

The deep love of this country that they see in every true American 's face theyv' e ever seen.

Secretary García said. “However, some students may choose not to recite the Pledge of Allegiance because of their religion or beliefs. These students must also be respected..”

Secretary García, I learned to respect the flag through reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, by asking why we recite it. And from that respect, I learned to respect many other things, Our politicians, Our Uniformed Service Members, our Police Officers and the other emergency services that serve the people of this country.

Don't be one of those that whittle away at the basic foundations of this country, carelessly.

Respect America, Respect the sacrifices of men and women of our nation’s history, Respect Freedom, and Respect the flag.

Leave the Pledge of Allegiance in the schools, and let the students ask why do we say it.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Keep Our allegiance to America, and to our flag.

Albuquerque Rescue Mission Reports Need For Men's Clothing

Albuquerque, New Mexico -- June 25, 2009 --- Empty shelves. That is the picture you will see in the men's clothing room at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission. The amount of clothing donated to the Mission during the last twelve months is down by almost 13% from the prior year; now the shelves are bare.

"It is starting to cause some problems," says Pastor John Hill, Executive Director at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission. "We receive donations of food, clothing, and finances throughout the year. To date, we have been able to adjust to the across the board reductions we have seen. But it's very difficult to make adjustments in the provision of clothing; either we have clothes or we don't, and right now we don't. We need the public's help right now more than ever before."

Tim Masterson, who operates the Donation Processing Center at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission, says he's never seen it like this before. "We have had down times before, but nothing like this. We will be out of men's clothing by next week," says Masterson. Donations of men's pants, shirts, shoes, and caps are desperately needed. Hygiene products, such as razors, shaving cream, shampoo, and moisturizing lotion are also needed. The Albuquerque Rescue Mission provides emergency services to the poor and homeless of the community. The slumping economy, with the resultant increases in unemployment, is hitting the most vulnerable the hardest. The Mission has been filling in the gaps for years, and is making every effort to serve those who have been coming in for help.

"We are hearing from more people that need our help," says Pastor Hill. "Folks who never thought they could be in this needy situation are looking for a little help."

A decline in food donations is making it impossible to meet the need for food boxes that so many families are requesting. The Mission typically relies on food donations to provide food boxes for those in need.

Donations are impacted by an economic downturn. "Clearly, the rising unemployment is resulting in more requests for our services. We are hearing from people that have been able to stay in their homes, but have been unable to meet some of their other essential needs, like providing food and clothing for their families," Pastor Hill commented. "We understand that the current economic situation is impacting everyone, but we ask those that are able to realize the desperate need that is out there. Even a small donation will help."

The community can help meet this immediate need for clothing by making donations to the Albuquerque Rescue Mission at 525 Second Street SW. Financial donations can be made at the Mission's website at www.abqrescue.org

"We can weather this storm if the community comes together to help out," said Pastor Hill. "We have seen the compassionate people of Albuquerque meet these needs before, and we know it can happen now."

The Mission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the homeless of Albuquerque with emergency food, clothing and shelter. The Mission also provides long-term rehabilitation programs to help people get off the street permanently. For 55 years the Mission has been a vital part of the solution to homelessness.

Enough is Enough!!!! God has really spoken to me about this problem and we are to act on this now...........

That is our calling to you are faithful listeners of KKIM! You have swamped the State Dept. of Education with calls to get them to stop and think about the Pledge of Allegiance! You swamped the Roundhouse with calls protesting same sex marriage! You take action! PRAISE GOD!

Now is the time for us to swamp the Gov's office with calls protesting the lack of action on the killing of our youth! Too many drunk driving deaths in this state. The most recent one killing four of our young people. You and I could be the next to die...our children our at risk driving in this state.........We are asking you to call the Gov's office at 505-476-2200 and tell him to get to work on tougher DWI laws. We are proposing this...........

Would you support a law in New Mexico that would send First time DWI offenders to jail for 1 year, plus forfeiture of car and driver's license forever?

Thanks for the great cup. I preached on King Asa yesterday from 2 Chron. 14 and it talks about his men being MIGHTY WARRIORS. I closed with this "Whatever it Takes" author unknown. This follows up what you were saying today about "I am not ashamed".

Everyone one of us here in New Mexico has to share in part of the responsibility in the deaths of these Kids! We have allowed this dysfunction to continue. Just like this state has allowed corruption to continue in it's government for years!

We need to get to work folks and spread the good news not only by words but by actions.....we must get strong people to run for office and pass strong laws and then uphold these laws. We as People of God cannot stand by and see this happen without taking action. What will we tell God when we are face to face with Him when we die? Will we be able to him we did enough for His people?

KKIM friends Pastor Garland Moore and Helen Lortz are in Grants doing all they can to help the homeless with their Community Outreach Center. Thank God for Garland and Helen! We need to keep Garland and Helen in our prayers.

I also want to share this with you that God has shown me.............

There is no difference in the Democrat and Republican party. We as a people cannot trust either one.

Gov. Pawlenty is a leader in the GOP and has been mentioned as a candidate for President. But the only thing that is going to REBUILD ANYTHING in goodness, is our Lord Jesus Christ.

Both parties represent lies, cheating etc.........

We must put our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and bring up leaders in HIM!

There was once a difference in parties, but no longer.

It looks like there is more than meets the eye with the Pledge of Allegiance in New Mexico. here is a note from Pastor Jim Montoya who was on New Mexico News and Views Friday..........

It was indeed a privilege and an honor to have been on the program on Friday dealing with the issue of the Pledge of Allegiance.

In particular the conversation with Secretary Veronica Garcia.

In further conversation with Brother Ralph Montes regarding this issue. He has informed me of what is actually taking place in the classroom.

He says that while he taught in the Bernalillo School System, that schools such as Cochiti, Santa Domingo regularly recited the Pledge of Allegiance in English and Spanish. And that the students and administration and teachers were proud to do so. However, he asserts that the other schools in other areas may not recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Now he can speak about this issue with authority and knowledge.

I would suggest that you address this issue: "Is the Pledge of Allegiance being recited in our New Mexico Public Schools? Or have we by default, stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in our public schools in New Mexico because of fear of legal action? Have the Public Schools Administrators assumed the direction from the Governor and State Education Administration to not recite the Pledge of Allegiance? In other words, school officials have voluntarily stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

In a related manner, Brother Ralph also has related the issue of the broader liberal social agenda that is being forced down our throats here in New Mexico. He mentioned Pastor Barney Carbajal from Abundant Life in Belen who has said that there is a conspiracy to make New Mexico the national pilot for the liberal social agenda. Of course we know who is the perpetrator of this agenda, Satan and his emisarries. Pastor Barney was one of the Pastors that helped fight the Domestic Partnership issue in the legislature this past Spring.

I don't know what you want to do with those issues but I believe these are some the hot issues facing the Christian Community that need to be confronted. I believe that all these issues are connected as part of a agenda to take the God and Bible and Jesus out of the classroom.

Remember this passage- Romans 1:18 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also the Greek.

I have been encouraging you all to have a prayer journal....how is that working out for you? How is your scripture reading coming?

I love to go discovering in the Bible!

Pastor Jim Montoya sent me to this reading..........Rev. 3: 7-8

"And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

"These things says He who is holy, He who is true, "He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens"

"I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it, for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

AMEN!!!!

The Lord opens doors.......for us........Doors that can only be open by the Lord..........we are to walk through those doors..........How do you know when the Lord opens a door? .......be in prayer..........be in tuned with the Lord..........listen for the Lord.........many miss the open door, thinking it is shut..........but they are not in tuned with the Lord..........or they may try to break open a door and it is not the Lord's will that, that door be opened.

To be in the Lord's will is to be in prayer and worship everyday........every moment of your life........to hear the Lord.........The Holy Spirit is The messenger........be in constant prayer........I walk around praying........when I am driving I am praying.........when I am sitting I am praying.......I am listening for my Lord.

As it says in Rev. 3:8 we have little strength.........our strength comes from the Lord.......That is why I try to say every time I have a CUP with you that May the Strength and Peace of the Lord be with You and Yours.........

Only the Lord can give us Strength and Peace at the same time...........It is so AWESOME to have His strength with us and His peace with us at same time.

Rev. 3:10 goes onto say..........

"Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which will come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth."

1 John 3:21 says...........

Dear friends, if our conscience is clear, we can come to God with bold confidence.

When you pass from this earth.........How will you feel when you are face to face with God?

Please pray on what I have shared with you.

Our hats are off to Dr. Veronica Garcia, the Secretary of Education for the NM State Education Department, who joined us Friday afternoon to speak to our listening audience, because we obviously made our voices be known, as she has extended for 30 days the opportunity for written public input on the Pledge of Allegiance Rule, before she makes her final decision on the matter at hand. When questioned about the drop out rate in Albuquerque Public Schools, she let it be known that, "It starts at Home." Dewey encourages us all to, "Pay attention to 'the details'," so here we go:

This afternoon I got a call from my friend Bob Wright who lives in Eunice, NM. He told me of a tragic situation wit a neighbor’s child who was attacked by a pit bull. The little girl’s name is Nakita. I would be most grateful if you would ask your audience to pray for this child. Thank you, John Russell

There are many hurting and dying people everyday........When a celebrity like Michael Jackson passes away the whole secular media turns that way. The little Nikita's can be forgotten about.

What consumes the media about the deaths of people like Michael Jackson? CNN was bragging last night on the Larry King show about showing a picture of Jackson being treated after his heart attack in a picture from Entertainment Tonight. How ugly is that kind of thing.....so hurtful to the family!

I was so sad last night with the Michael Jackson story.........a very talented man who had so much turmoil inside of him. Let us pray for his soul and for his family. Can you even imagine the turmoil that Jackson had churning inside him?

Also for the family of Farrah Fawcett,who passed away at 62 of cancer.

Not enough who make it to Hollywood come out with a good life in the Lord.

Fame and fortune seem to corrupt most. Let us pray on that.

I have been commenting on how many here in the Duke City have gone nuts over Manny Ramirez coming here to re-hab before he joins the Dodgers and how nuts it is that many praise him.....look to him as a hero........Well this "Idol" certainly took another step back wards last night.The Feds are now involved and Manny ran from his fans and media........

Manny Ramirez went silent. Then, Manny left the building.

The Los Angeles Dodgers slugger made himself scarce in the clubhouse and didn't talk to reporters as he came out for warmups for his final game with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday night.

With the start of the contest delayed by rain, Ramirez left through a back door of the clubhouse, stepped into a sedan and drove away.

There was no immediate word from team officials on why Ramirez departed, but heavy rains hit the ballpark and the first pitch was delayed more than 45 minutes.

Ramirez kept a low profile after it was disclosed that Major League Baseball is cooperating with a federal investigation into where he got the performance-enhancing drug that resulted in his 50-game suspension.

Last night on New Mexico News and Views our news maker of the day was State Rep. Nora Espinoza. She gave us the latest on the New Mexico Dept. of Education's attempt to change the law regarding the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. State Rep. Espinoza says the possible change is under the radar and hardly any publicity has been let out about this change that would not require a student to recite of the Pledge of Allegiance. Nora said most state lawmakers were unaware of the possible change. She wanted to encourage KKIM listeners to call the office of Secretary of Education Dr. Veronica Garcia at 505-827-6661 to voice your concern over changing the law. Dr. Garcia will be making this decision soon. Nora said, "There is no reason to make this change. Many here in New Mexico have given much so that we can say the Pledge of Allegiance." The State Dept. of Education says they want to bring New Mexico up to federal code. An Albuquerque School teacher, Claudia called the program last night and said this is the first time she had heard of this possible change and called the Education Dept. right away when we announced it. Claudia also encourage others to call. Another attempt by a few to change the fabric of American life.

The way the Federal Government is going.......I don't know if I want to be brought up to Federal Code!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the Blessings the Lord has given me is companionship of others........to help me...to help me not do stupid things.......Chuck Swindoll writes..........

We are not designed to be loners. In real life, and especially in ministry, there's no place for Rambo's or 007 Agents or spiritual superstars. Not only is that unhealthy; it's simply not God's way. When He calls a man or women to accomplish something great, He then brings alongside other individuals who serve and assist the more public figure.

Read slowly through this fine paraphrase of Ecclesiastes chapter 4, of the New Living Translation. Take in the images and ponder the wisdom as you consider the meaning of these penetrating words:

Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better return for their labor.

If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble.

And on a cold night, two under the same blanket can give warmth from each other. But how can one be warm alone?

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Esslesiastes 4:9-12

Stanford University Psychologist Philip Zimbardo says, "I know of no more potent killer than isolationism. There is no more destructive influence on physical and mental health than the isolation of you from me and us from them. It has been shown to be a central agent in the etiology of depression, paranoia, murder, schizophrenia, rape, suicide, and a mass and wide variety of disease states."

Let us reach out to those alone.

The Future Wife

One night in a church service a young woman felt the tug of God at her heart. She responded
to God's call and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. The young woman had a very rough past, involving alcohol,drugs, and prostitution. But, the change in her was evident. As time went on she became a faithful member of the church. She eventually became involved in the ministry, teaching young children.

It was not very long until this faithful young woman had caught the eye and heart of the
pastor's son. The relationship grew and they began to make wedding plans. This is when the problems began. About one half of the church did not think that a woman with a past
such as hers was suitable for a pastor's son. The church began to argue and fight about the matter. So they decided to have a meeting. As the people made their arguments and tensions increased, the meeting was getting completely out of hand.

The young woman became very upset about all the things being brought up about her past.
As she began to cry the pastor's son stood to speak. He could not bear the pain it was
causing his wife to be. He began to speak and his statement was this: 'My fiancee's past is
not what is on trial here. What you are questioning is the ability of the blood of Jesus to wash away sin. Today you have put the blood of Jesus on trial. So, does it wash away sin or not?'
The whole church began to weep as they realized that they had been slandering the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Too often, even as Christians, we bring up the past and use it as a weapon against our
brothers and sisters. Forgiveness is a very foundational part of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. If the blood of Jesus does not cleanse the other person completely then it cannot cleanse us completely. If that is the case, then we are all in a lot of trouble.

What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus ! End of case!!!!

MIDWEEK CUP OF TRUTH KKIM/DDC

As we face the truth about current events.

Three events that hit me yesterday and this morning that give a prime example as to how far America Society has fallen is...........

But before I do that........Let me share with you one thing that my Dear Brother Dr. Larry Bates CEO of IRN/USA Radio Network and Co-Host of News and Views has told me over the years......."We are to be the salt and light of the world. We are to occupy until the Lord comes. We are to spread the good news all over." That is the calling card for IRN/USA Radio Network and KKIM and the CUP!

That is what we attempt to do everyday here at the CUP and KKIM.

Here is a comment from Nancy M. Thompson who wrote a letter to the Editor of the Albuquerque Journal after gunmen stormed a Duke City Denny's Restaurant filled with customers in broad day light and killed one of the cook's.............

Thompson writes................

I have come to the conclusion that we must all fight this together as a community. First and foremost, I want to elect leaders that make crime fighting in this city their first priority. We need a city where families could thrive and spend time together on their days off without having fear of being killed."

Ms. Thompson is right on.

Our daughter Gretchen 22 says, "Dad, we are not safe anywhere in Albuquerque anymore." The Starbucks she works at has been robbed 3 times in daylight by thugs carrying guns.

I am tired of so called leaders in our Government and Church's that pretend to be leaders......

We must be the salt and light to the world.

How on earth can parents get their child to this point???? to say cheating is okay????

Last night the Albuquerque Triple A Franchise played host to Manny Ramirez as he get's back into shape since he was suspended for the use of drugs. The stadium was filled to capacity to see this guy who I would not walk across the street to see him play. But what caught my eye was a quote from a little boy in the Albuquerque Journal........Oh Lord what have we done to our Children......."Even thou he cheats, I want to see him play." With all the corruption in our Government, Schools, Church's, etc..we have taught are youth it is okay to cheat because you will be okay and make much money and be in high places. Fans adored Ramirez last night. WHAT A VERY SAD STATEMENT ON AMERICAN SOCIETY. THE LOCAL TRIPLE A BASEBALL OFFICALS FELL OVER HIM TOO. WOW, Do not under estimate this statement it makes about America.

We are to be the salt and light of the world.........we have are work cut out for us.......we must not put on blinders and hide from these problems. Shame on the Isotopes and all of baseball for exploiting our Youth.

When I covered the Cubs for WCOE Radio in Laporte, In. back in the 80's I got to cover the Cubs in Spring Training in Mesa twice. One of the solid players was Ryne Sandberg.He said this about Sammy Sosa as it was just revealed that Sosa used steroids when he played, "I don't think he belongs in the Hall-of-Fame, Part of being in the Hall-Of-Fame is that they use the word integrity in describing a Hall of Famer."

Where is the Integrity in the Ramirez Circus?

They tell me 10.6 million viewers tuned in to watch this crazy TV show last night, "Jon and Kate Plus 8........as they announced their divorce. What does that tell us?

PS The Journal put the rescue of 5 people from the flooding Arroyo's all the way to the Metro section........No front page news at the Journal that our Policeman and Fireman saved lives yesterday.

Lord you tell us to be the salt and light of the world........Our prayer today is that all those that say they believe in You will receive that Boldness........that they will not let walls and man's structure delay or stop them from being Bold in YOU. We have been sharing about prayer...and so is Pastor Don of Nuggets Of Truth heard weekday mornings at 7:30.....so it's kind of a double whammy! I hope you can hear Don's program on KKIM also in the evening at 7:30.

I would like you to get a prayer journal, if you do not have one........write your prayers down..write who you are praying for......read how you are praying to our Lord........keep track and watch over your prayers to the Lord. Carry your Bible with you. You can do much with the word of God and praying.

I was asked once again this week, "Dewey should we just sit back and watch what is happening.what is the use?" I know times are bad.......but we are to be the salt and light of the world and to occupy until the Lord comes. We are to bring the good news to all. We cannot give up.But I get the feeling from more than a few Christians, that is what is happening. We are to bring all the good news of Jesus Christ. Too many Christians have stopped praying with belief that their prayers will be answered......His will not ours.

One of the most important things is to pray.......

Andrew Murray wrote, "If there is one thing I think the Church needs to learn, it is that God means prayer to have an answer, and that it hath not entered into the heart of man to conceive what God will do for His child who gives himself to believe that his prayer will be heard."

Do you believe when you pray?

Jesus says, "What man is there among you, when his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?"

"Dear friends, if our conscience is clear, we can come to God, with bold confidence." 1 John 3:21

If your conscience is not clear...please pray......let us pray for you! We are hear for you! We are here to serve, not to be served.

Just a little report on the Valley View Christian Church 6th Annual Car Show.

4 Worship Services: 1 Saturday for the workers who have to work all day on Sunday for the Car Show
3 Worship services on Sunday, while the Car Show is going on. Attendance @ 345 our average is 287

Cars Entered: 209 Making it one of the best in the entire State of New Mexico. I will have a CD of all the pictures we took so you can see what it looks like.

Attendance: @ 3200

Even the Mayor showed up.

3100 hot dogs served

3500 cold drinks

4400 bottles of water

135 bags of ice to keep the drinks and water cold

125 members of Valley View actively involved in the Car Show

ALL FOR FREE.

My Friends, How was your Father's Day? I pray that it was AWESOME!!! Mine was SUPER DUPER!!! I thank the Lord for my wife Sharon, the kid's Greg, Gretchen, Steph, Mike and Lars and the doggies and birds!

This past weekend I started to share with you that I am reading David Jeremiah's book, "Prayer the Great Adventure"........Go to www.deweysdailycup.com for part one.

Dr. Jeremiah writes.........

I know that some Christians don't spend much time praying because they don't believe they will ever see any answers. Perhaps they prayed in the past for something of vital interest to them and didn't receive answer they had hoped for. So they stopped praying altogether. J. Oswald Sanders pointed to this problem when he wrote, "It is easy to become a fatalist in reference to prayer. It is easier to regard unanswered prayer as the will of God than to........reason out the causes of the defeat."
Dewey:
I would encourage you to read that again my friends I have heard so many times, "I prayed and did not get an answer, It was not the Lord's will I guess."
Read again what Sanders writes.

And what could be some of those reasons for "defeat"? Oswald Chambers had at least one suggestion when he wrote, "Our Lord in His teaching regarding prayer never once referred to unanswered prayer, He said God always answers prayer. If our prayers are in the name of Jesus, that is, in accordance with His nature, the answers will not be in accordance with our nature, but with His. We are apt to forget this, and to say without thinking that God does not always answer prayer. He does every time, and when we are in close communion with Him, we realize that we have not been misled."

I would encourage you to read that again and again.

But what if you believe you are praying in God's will for something He delights in, and yet there is no answer? James Montgomery Boice suggest, "If you are praying for something and God is not answering your request with a "Yes", ask what you can accomplish in the meantime and give yourself to that. It does not mean that God may not give you what you are asking for eventually, but in the meantime you will be doing good work."

Let us pray............

Lord, what wonderful teaching today on prayer.......Thank you again for Your servants here on earth to teach and help us. Let us pray on what we learned this morning. We need to remember that You answer all our prayers..........Your will, Your timing, not ours. We pray for wisdom today as we start a new work week, we pray for the people in Iran, we pray for the freedom only you can give for the people of Iran. We pray for the many starving people in North Korea. We pray for freedom in You Lord! We pray for the defeat of Satan. We pray for the family of the young girl who was killed by gun fire inside the Denny's restaurant here in Albuquerque. We pray for all those that were inside the restaurant at the time,that they will recover from this awful experience. We pray for our Law Enforcement officials as they track the killers.
We pray for the defeat of Satan. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there!!! Gretchen already game me my gift a coffee cup with "Daily Cup" inscribed on it!!! How wonderful! I also just got a card from Greg and his fiancee', Natashia.......the word's they wrote touched my heart so. I think we should do "Daily Cup" coffee cups!

This morning I can smell the rain...........I can smell the fragrance of God's blessings........I can feel the presence of God in my life.........Do you?

I am discovering as I go along in life how wonderful prayer is and how it get's us closer to God. I am also gaining wisdom on unanswered prayer.........

David Jeremiah writes on prayer.........

Jesus never taught His disciples how to preach well, but much of praying well. To know how to speak to God is more important that knowing how to speak to man. Not power with men, but power with God is the first thing. Jesus loves to teach us how to pray.

Andrew Bonar wrote in 1853.........

God likes to see His people shut up to this. That there is no hope but in prayer. herin lies the Church's power against the world.

Jim Cymbala writes........

Prayer cannot truly be taught by principles and seminars and symposiums. It has to be born out of a whole environment of felt need. If I say, "I ought to pray," I will soon run out of motivation and quit; the flesh is too strong. I have to be driven to pray.

Jack Taylor writes..............

Our infirmities are the trumpets which call us to prayer. No miracle was performed in the Bible that did not begin in a problem.......The greater the problem, the greater the solution.

Jesus not only invites everyone to pray, He says that "Everyone who asks receives" and "Everyone who seeks finds" and "to him who knocks, it will be opened." This is an ironclad promise.

Andrew Murray wrote about this test.......

Ask and you shall receive; everyone that asks, receives. This is the fixed eternal law of the kingdom: if you ask and receive not, it must be because there is something amiss or wanting in the prayer. Hold on; let the Word and Spirit teach you to pray aright, but do not let go the confidence He seeks to waken: Everyone who asks receives.....Let every learner in the school of Christ therefore take the Master's word in all simplicity....Let us beware of weakening the Word with our human wisdom.

Let us Pray...........Lord thank you for your sons and daughters who put wisdom down on paper for us to read and learn and grow closer to You. We pray today for all those who have had bad Father's here on earth. We pray for their hearts and spirits this fathers day weekend. We pray that these hurt souls will come nearer to You. Let us be tools for You to see that this happens. We also continue to pray for the family of Sgt. Andy Tingwall Father, when we listen to the dispatch tapes of Andy and his wife talking during the rescue and then the crash.......we hear and feel the love between them. A FULLY LOADED CUP FOR FATHERS DAY KKIM/DDC

As I go about my days.........I really think about this. And one of my good friends, Pastor Mark Tross has taught me, ya know I really love Mark.He has been such a teacher for me..........He holds me up, like a good friend should........he accepts me for who I am, despite losing the North Korean story.....(You had to be listening last night to get that) But I do not take for granted relationships like I have with people like Mark. I thank God for Mark. I love his wife Juliett. She is a giver just like her husband. WOW! I am getting emotional or what? But, mainly I PRAISE GOD for my relationships like this. I have had SO MANY people guide me over the years........I PRAISE GOD for all those folks. I am just trying to pay back now all that has been given to me!

I also want to thank all those who are my friends........There are many of you who help me each day go about my life. I PRAISE GOD for all of you!

What other people think of me is becoming less important: what they think of Jesus because of me is critical.

PRAISE REPORTS!!!!!!

We have been praying for Charlie Hickman as he goes through tests for cancer. PRAISE GOD !!! He got a clean bill of health!

It has been such a sad summer here in New Mexico....The murder of Baby Boy Angel who was killed by his Mother, The drowning of the young boy from Rio Rancho and then the crash of the State Police helicopter killing Sgt. Tingwell and the young lady w rescued. The discovery yesterday of the Bodies of a man and three children in a car pulled from Cochiti Lake. The Father had disappeared with the Children back in August of 2001. Let us keep all this in our prayers. Let us also keep Officer Wesley Cox in our prayers as he continues recover from the crash of the State Police Helicopter. Let us not forget Sgt. Tingwell's two daughters who lost their Dad in that crash and will be going through Father's Day without their Daddy. And on this Father's Day weekend this morning a Father and Son got into a gunfight here in Albuquerque, resulting in the death of the son. It has been a very sad summer here in the Duke City.

Let us also PRAISE GOD for all the answers to unspoken prayer requests. We get many of those and we pray over them here at the Cup.........Many good reports!!!

Let me give you a Praise report........

Sharon and I have received some good news on our housing situation, we have secured a Realtor that we think can get our house sold in Los Alamos. Thanks for your continued prayers.

I also Praise God for Sharon and my kid's. They are so good to me! I want to be a better husband and father!

Some folks do not want their names used, that is okay because God knows! I am glad we have a place of Prayer and Worship here at KKIM and the CUP!

Many of you know that am over my life have been a HUGE baseball fan. I still play softball and I am a Minnesota Twins Fan.........The Twins mainly stay out of the headlines and are a good organization. I am less a baseball fan than ever....and that is sad. I still enjoy the game, but will no longer hold up these guys as heroes.

I am sad about the whole steroid issue, and now Commissioner Selig is upset that more names are being leaked out from the steroid investigation, showing that Sammy Sosa used steroids........Well sadly, no surprise there. I think many baseball fans are not shocked that he cheated. That whole McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, etc group is all tarnished now, and so is baseball as names keep coming out. Baseball should have come clean years ago and released all this information. The fans pay the way for all these guys and basically Baseball has lived a lie for years and is tarnished for ever. This is not like the Black Sox scandal from 1918....this is the WHOLE LEAGUE!!!! Baseball has ruined it's trust with the public. Selig continues to hide information and ignore the dirty business, this while tax payers are getting ready to finance more new Baseball stadiums, even in this economic climate. Baseball owners receive many tax breaks from the Feds. Baseball has turned into a dirty business. Baseball has left Jesus Christ out!

Another note: A sign of the times, sadly........Headlines in the Albuquerque Journal today at the top: MANNY'S COMING! Stupid me, I was looking for the headline that said, JESUS IS COMING!!!!!

How sad celebrating that a drug user who play's baseball and paid millions, what 25 a year? is coming to rehab with the Triple A team. Ramirez has taken steroids for years to enhance his performance.

Baseball owners and players knew for years that not only steroids and other drugs where a problem in the clubhouse but they decided to hide from it.

A wise man told me many years ago that what is going on in Baseball will always be a reflection of what is going on in society. HOW TRUE!!!!

America has turned into a society that like's to feed dysfunction.

Please do not tell me it's only baseball!!! Because many people look up to this dysfunction and take their lead from this.........and also tax payers money feed's part of this dysfunction!

How often do we hide dysfunction in our homes, Church's, Businesses, Governments?

I love to talk to a Public Official or a Baseball Executive..........when they say, I know Dewey, But I can't say anything official!!!!! HOGWASH!!!!

What this country need is more TRUTH!!!!! Get rid of the FICTION SECTION!!!

Oh Dewey, what a powerful 'Cup this morning. "Don't Give Up" brought me to tears. How often it would be easier to just cave in. But we have to keep our eyes on the horizon.

Dewey, something has been layed on my heart heavy.. The word "LUST" Often I have heard ministers smooth it over with such words as desires, wants, or temptation. Do you see the difference here as I do? The word 'Lust, is offensively straightforward, and so to the point! It has a nastiness to it. Something that is very, very Ugly! And you know what? I think that was indeed the word that our Savior wanted us to use! To hear all the time, that it doesn't overtake us. That ugly word 'Lust' the bible told us that there are 3 things that sum up 'Everything' that is in the world. The 'Lust, of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the Pride of life. How could it be that after using such a dirty word as 'lust, then throw in 'Pride? The two have to be connected somehow.
Maybe when we lust after something and get it, then there is Pride. Pride sneaks up to us in such a way that we don't even see it coming. Where lust on the other hand, we feel it, and immediately feel guilt. A built in warning system that only God could put in our conscience. A desire doesn't burn our conscience, or just wanting something, But when we in counter 'LUST, our souls burn with guilt.

Being a Grandparent...

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, 'But Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!' I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye...

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, '62.' He was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, 'Did you start at 1?'

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, 'Who was THAT?'

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: 'We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.' The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, 'I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!'

It was fun for me, so I continued. At last she headed for the door, saying, 'Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself!'

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, 'It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights.'

9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, 'I'm not sure.' 'Look in your underwear, Grandpa,' he advised. 'Mine says I'm four to six.'

10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, 'Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today.' The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. 'That's interesting,' she said, 'how do you make babies? ''It's simple,' replied the girl. 'You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'.'

11. Children's Logic: 'Give me a sentence about a public servant,' said a teacher. The small boy wrote: 'The fireman came down the ladder pregnant.' The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. 'Don't you know what pregnant means?' she asked. 'Sure,' said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child.'

12. A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. 'They use him to keep crowds back,' said one child. 'No,' said another, 'He's just for good luck.' A third child brought the argument to a close. 'They use the dogs,' she said firmly, 'to find the fire hydrants.'

Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the colors of the flowers and also why we shouldn't step on 'cracks.'

They don't say, 'Hurry up.'

Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like 'Why isn't God married?' and 'How come dogs chase cats?'

When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend time with us.

They know we should have snack time before bed time, and they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we've acted bad.

A 6-YEAR-OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. ''OH,'' HE SAID, ''SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE WANT HER, WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE'RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.''

GRANDPA IS THE SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! HE TEACHES ME GOOD THINGS, BUT I DON'T GET TO SEE HIM ENOUGH TO GET AS SMART AS HIM!

With the retirement of Pastor Larry Moss of Heights Cumberland we are making some changes to our program line up. Pastor Larry has been a huge part of KKIM's Ministry for over 25 years!
Pastor Alan Hawkins of New Life City will be taking Larry's 2:00 pm weekday time. Pastor Alan will also be taking Larry's Saturday Noon-time slot formerly known as Straight Talk. We are so blessed to have Pastor Alan and his wife Gail part of the KKIM Ministry. Pastor Alan has had the 2:30p, time slot and we have 1, maybe 3 of those days open. We also have some other times on weekends that are now open, as Heights Cumberland will no longer broadcast their Sunday services at 3pm.

I just wanted you to know that my paternal father past away Mon. and we are in Tampa for his memorial. You might remember, I did not know my father and did not find him until I was 35yrs old when Margaret, my wife, tracked him down. We had a great reunion, and have had a great relationship with his wife and kids (my brothers) for the past 13 years. He will be missed by our family and many other youth he helped mentor.

I post this as it pay tributes to Rick's Dad, and Rick himself. I have to tell you something about Rick. He is a Godly man! I BOAST IN THE LORD TODAY ABOUT HIS SON RICK!!! In everything I BOAST IN THE LORD. Pastor Barry Dickens taught me that years ago. Rick is a man who supports KKIM being a Ministry sponsor, he has been a mentor of mine, he has helped my family in many ways, he does what he says even when there is no self-gain for himself, he returns every phone call and email! He is a man that follows through. I told Rick, what a weekend for a father to go to heaven, on Father's Day Weekend! Let us keep Rick and his family in our prayers. We need more men like Rick Griffin that keep commitments. When you and I do not keep a commitment it effects many!

As we get ready for Father's Day weekend, let us be sensitive to those who did not have a good Father! Let us seek out those who may be hurting.

Many today believe that the evidence of God's blessing on them is a new car, a house, a good job, etc. But that is far from the truth of God's Word.

If that be the case, then gambling casino owners, drug kingpins and movie stars are blessed of God.

Jesus did not teach riches were a sign of God's blessing. In fact, Jesus said, "It is hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

If we equate earthly possessions and earthly relationships with God's favor, what are we to tell the billions of those living in poverty, or what to do if depression hits, or what do you say to those who lose a loved one?

Many "in name only" Christians would curse God if they lost all of their material possessions.

Jesus said, " Narrow is the way that leads to life and few there be that find it."

It's time the call from the pulpit be changed from "Who wants the life of pleasure and good things, new homes, cars, materials and possessions, etc?" to, "Who will come forward and accept Jesus Christ and the fellowship of His suffering?

Jesus calls us to come and die, die to ourselves and the world, so He might give us true life.

AMEN! AMEN!

I was telling daughter Gretchen last night that I have given the Lord the rest of my time here on earth. I have completely turned my self over to HIM. I am listening to the Lord and will do whatever He wants me to do.

Yesterday on KKIM we had Lawrence Sanchez of Belen on the air with us. He has been frustrated for 16 years with the lack of help for his daughter who has MS. He has had the best Doctor's in the world look at her case and still no help from Social Security and other agencies.

We contacted State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones and she got right on it and is helping the family. Praise God for Public servants like Janice. Here's the BIG NEWS, Janice is helping this family and they don't even live in her District! WOW! A PUBLIC SERVANT THAT THINKS LIKE GOD!!!! GO WHEREEVER THERE IS A NEED!!!! I think Janice E. Arnold Jones would make a great Governor!!!

Lawrence Sanchez from Belen joined us this afternoon to talk about the problems he has been having to try to get help for his ailing daughter for the past 16 years. 40 year old Julianne suffers from MS and spinal problems, but the Social Security Office on Cutler Ave. in Albuquerque has continually turned down her appeals to receive SSI. Thank God for KKIM Station Manager Dewey Moede, who has God's Heart to serve this city and state. His desire is to give the people of NM a voice, God's Voice here on AM 1000, FM 94.7 and around the world at http://mykkim.com . Dewey contacted State Representative and friend to the station, Janis E. Arnold Jones, who is on the case, so pray that God opens The Door for this family and others around our state to get what they are entitled to. I get tired of people who boast about serving and they get tied down in their will.....they break commitments, they don't communicate, and many of these people call themselves Christians! This is what gives the Church a bad name.

What I find sad is that Agencies that take tax payer money do not help people like Lawrence. Even non-profits that take donations.......did not return his calls for help! I Know who these agencies are and have contacted them. We must hold them accountable, just like I expect people to hold me accountable. If Christians cannot and do not hold each other accountable who will?

Yesterday a man came in to KKIM and is in danger of losing his home to foreclosure. We called the Attorney General's Office and they put us in touch with people that can help. Gary King's office is working with a Government program and attorney's to help people facing foreclosure and they are having successes.

We here at KKIM are to help God's people. We are here for God. To serve not to be served.

There are almost 700,000 people in the Albuquerque metro now. Did you know that half of them listen to Christian radio in a months time? Did you know that up to 40% of the listeners of Christian radio do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

"Christian radio reaches a ripe mission field......When many of the Church think of Christian radio, they think they will be singing to the Choir........no so........I have found that people who call themselves atheists listen to Christian radio because they are searching. We do not have to go over seas to go on a mission trip...we have a mission field right here! I know that times are tough, money is tight for many....but we as Christian cannot RETREAT!!! We need to continue to move ahead in the faith of our LORD! As Pastor Jim Montoya reminds me, "We need to carry out the Great Commission."

If Christian Ministries RETREAT in times like this, what does that say to the secular world? What kind of witness is that?

I have to share with you, and many of you know this already, but it is so important to have fellowship. To seek Biblical counsel. The Lord has blessed me so much with people around me to pray and talk. What an encouragement in the LORD! If more of our leaders would surround themselves with Biblical sound folks we would be so much better off. Like all of you I need God's people around me so that I do not do anything stupid!

My thanks to Pastor Ray Franks of KAZQ TV for having me as his guest yesterday on his show. It was great fun! It reran again this morning at 7:30! What a wonderful time I have with Pastor Ray......What a man of God!!!! Don’t Give Up! June 15, 2009
I don’t know who I am writing to…heck…I may need to come back one day and read this myself…but I really feel like I am supposed to tell someone, “DON’T GIVE UP!!!”
Church work can be the most frustrating thing on the planet to deal with…but don’t stop now! What you are seeing as an obstacle God is using as an opportunity! Don’t give up!!! (Galatians 6:9)
People hate you just because of what you do…and if you begin to experience any aort of success they will despise you even more. Don’t give up…your calling is not to please them!!! (Galatians 1:10)
You feel like you are not successful because your church hasn’t exploded with growth. BUT…you’ve seen 10 people receive Christ in the past year! REJOICE IN THAT…THE ANGELS DID!!! Don’t give up because your church isn’t getting attention from men…it has the attention of the Almighty…and in the end THAT is all that will matter!
You feel like you aren’t a good leader…or a good speaker. You want to walk away and do something else because you just don’t feel qualified. Remember…Jesus took some very unqualified men and CHANGED THE WORLD!!! (Acts 4:13)
Someone doesn’t like something you did recently…and they are not afraid to tell you about it. Remember…they didn’t like Jesus healing on the Sabbath either…but He kept on doing it because He knew He was pleasing His Father!!!
Your past haunts you…the enemy constantly throws it in your face. You want to walk away when you focus on who you WERE…STOP IT and see who YOU ARE in Christ! (I Corinthians 6:9-11 - REALLY focus on verse 11!) Don’t give up!
People close to you have abandoned you…and you are hearing the things they say. You feel betrayed…hurt…and wonder if it is all worth it. Demas betrayed Paul…Judas betrayed Jesus…yet they hung in there and refused to allow that type of betrayal to take their eyes off of the goal.
Don’t give up! Don’t quit! Stay in the fight!!! God called you to be a warrior…and sometimes warriors get wounded. BUT…wounds should not take the desire to fight out of us…but rather cause us to want to fight even more.
I heard about a guy who was going through a rough time once and asked Bill Hybels, “With all of this stuff I am going through…why shouldn’t I just quit right now?’
Bill replied, “because one day you and I will stand in front of One who had an assignment much tougher than ours and He didn’t quit…that’s why!”
BAM!
Don’t quit…don’t give up…fight the good fight! (Galatians 6:9) Pray, fast, preach, witness, memorize Scripture…and give satan a swift kick in the cookies as often as possible!!
But whatever you do…don’t give up! He called you–He gifted you–He empowered you and He will sustain you! (II Corinthians 4) - the WHOLE THING!
Don’t give up!

Hi Dewey,

From T. M. Moore:

Faithful pastors need the faithful prayers of their people to support them. Pray that God will preserve your pastor - from the temptations of the flesh, from the allure of a secularized approach to leading your church, from discouragement, from falling for the "numbers game" as the final test of a healthy, growing church. Pray that the Lord will keep the devil from distracting your pastor, diverting his energies into the wrong efforts, or discouraging him to the point of spiritual despair. Pray that his faith will not fail, in spite of the growing assaults against the faith of Christ that we are experiencing all around us, and that he will fight the good fight to the end.

Then, when you've prayed for your pastor, write him to let him know. Assure him of your prayers, love, and support. Insist that you will stand by him in prayer and with him in the battle, come what may. I work with pastors all week long, all over the country. I can tell you that very few of them receive much consistent, meaningful encouragement from the people in their care. Why not break the mold and set a new course for supporting your pastor? Pray for him, let him know, then fall in behind him as he leads your congregation into the battle.

Thank You, Lord, for my pastor; I pray your blessings and strength to be with all those who faithfully minister Your Word.

I got those readings from Merigen and Pastor Leonard. What encouragement those verses are to Sharon and I. Sharon and I are going through some heavy duty challenges right now, like many of you. Please keep us in your prayers. What is so AWESOME about God's Church is that we are here for each other, to hold us up in God's word! I also today got a very inspirational email from Karen Rowe who has been on KKIM and her writings have been posted here on the Cup. She really lifted my spirits when she told me that God told her to come back on radio! PRAISE GOD!

Then I went to KAZQ TV today as Pastor Ray Franks did a half hour TV special on KKIM! WOW! Anytime I spend with Pastor Franks is a HUGE bonus! The interview will air this Tuesday (Tomorrow June 16th) at 1pm and 10pm. Even thou I have a face for Radio, they somehow made it work! This was very inspiring in the Lord! I have to share this with you that the KKIM book marks that Merigen designed are going fast!!!! People love them! Pastor Franks took a whole bunch for the TV station! He even showed them on TV! We talked about how dirty secular tv has become. We have been talking about how David Letterman should be punished for his evil words about Sarah Palin and her daughter. I was asked by a person after I made my concerns known on New Mexico News and Views if I would be this disgusted if he said these things about President Obama's children.......I said, Well, for heaven's sake YES! The comments he made are just Satan possessed. We are to call it like it is, and it is evil. By the way this person, sadly, found Letterman's comments funny! The media and our society are giving Letterman a free pass on his evil comments........It's all about ratings.........this is from the Mpls Star/Trib........

NEW YORK - Sarah Palin would no doubt be horrified by the idea, but there's a chance she could become the same boon to David Letterman's career that Hugh Grant was to Jay Leno's.

Grant's 1995 appearance on NBC's "Tonight" show after a prostitution arrest, where Leno famously asked "what were you thinking?," was seen in retrospect as a turning point in the late-night race. It drew a huge audience and propelled Leno to the top of the ratings, a spot he would not relinquish.

Letterman did not court last week's battle with Palin, who called him "perverted" for making a joke about her daughter getting "knocked up" by New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, and he said in retrospect the remark was in poor taste.

Palin rebuffed his invitations to appear on the show, but that might not matter. The story had the effect of turning the attention to Letterman at a critical time, during the second week of his new competition with Leno's replacement, Conan O'Brien.

"It will be interesting to see if that can be maintained or whether it is one of those temporary things," said Robert Thompson, director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University.

The final numbers won't be out until later in the week, but there's a strong chance that Letterman could average more viewers than the "Tonight" show in the second week of O'Brien's new 11:35 p.m. job. That hasn't happened since 2005, and the timing is significant: some of Leno's old fans may be more amenable to searching for a new late-night habit during the transition period.

It's difficult to tell whether Letterman received a boost this week because of people interested in what he was going to say about Palin. Strong guests like Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington were a boost, too.

Letterman has referenced the NBC transition in a handful of jokes over the past two weeks, many of them poking fun of himself as much as his rival.

WOW! What a commentary on our American Society!!!!! Even some of the Church is giving him a free pass! WOW!

lastly, Please pray for Nathan, a KKIM listener who has lost his job and is in danger of losing his home. I talked with him yesterday and he is doing better, after attempting suicide. Please pray for Chris who has an anger problem. I have been working with Chris and his Grandparents and he now is going to a Church Camp. Chris has been hitting his Grandparents. Please keep Nathan and Chris in your prayers.

I just got this note from Former Sgt. of the New Mexico State Police Mike Gibson who reminds us we have heroes today........

Wesley Cox is such a good young man, I have known him since he was a kid. Thanks for the story on Andy Tingwall wow, what an everyday hero this guy was.

To date, there have been twenty-seven official versions of the flag, but the arrangement of the stars varied according to the flag-makers' preferences until 1912 when President Taft standardized the then-new flag's forty-eight stars into six rows of eight. The forty-nine-star flag (1959-60), as well as the fifty-star flag, also have standardized star patterns. The current version of the flag dates to July 4, 1960, after Hawaii became the fiftieth state on August 21, 1959.

Interviews in American Life Histories: Manuscripts from the Federal Writers' Project, 1936-1940 contain entertaining examples of Flag Day in the American vernacular. For example, a search on Flag Day retrieves the following conversation between Mr. Richmond and Mr. Davis:

"I do not salute the flag because I have promised to do the will of God," wrote ten-year-old Billy Gobitas, a Jehovah's Witness, to the board of the Minersville (Pennsylvania) School District in 1935. Like most public school students at that the time, Gobitas was required to salute and pledge allegiance to the flag daily. His refusal to do so touched off one of several constitutional battles over the authority of the state to require respect for national symbols and the right of individuals to freedom of speech.

Both the United States district court and the court of appeals ruled in favor of the right to refuse to salute the flag. In 1940, however, the U.S. Supreme Court decided the government did have the authority to compel respect for the flag as a central symbol of national unity. Just three years later, on June 14, 1943, the Supreme Court reconsidered its earlier decision, holding that the right of free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment denies the government the authority to compel individuals to salute the American flag or to recite the pledge of allegiance.

We have been talking a lot on New Mexico News and Views about "Character" What makes us laugh and cry is a sign of our Character.

Last night on the program we talked about the death of Sgt. Andy Tingwell of the New Mexico State Police who was flying the chopper that crashed in the Santa Fe baldy. Megumi Yamamoto, who Sgt. Tingwell and his partner, Officer Wesley Wilcox had rescued, also died in the crash. Officer Wilcox is in the Hosptial and Doctor's say he should fully recover from his injuries.

Sgt. Tingwell's wife, Leighann is a Dispatcher for the State Police and was on duty when her husband crashed and actually took the call at Dispatch. The Tingwall's have two daughters.

Megumi Yamamoto had started at UNM on a student Visa this spring. Her family lives in Japan.

Hundred's of Police Officers escorted the bodies of Sgt. Tingwell and Ms. Yamamoto to the Office of the Medical Examiner yesterday.

Stephen T. Johns the Guard at the Holocaust Museum who was killed by the madman on Wednesday had just opened the door for his killer.

Then we have this so called entertainer David Letterman say such awful things about Sarah Palin and her family. The Character of this nation........When Letterman delivered his garbage on the Palin family........the crowd LAUGHED!!!!! What a statement that laughter is! I am not going to repeat what Letterman said. This is not a man, Statements of the Devil they are!

Where is our uproar America? CBS should have the morals to pull Letterman off the air! The FCC should hand down heavy punishment! The laughter of the crowd that I heard when I played the news clips in the studio made me ill. This is a huge statement on America! Having been a broadcaster all my life this upset's me to no end........abuse of the air waves! What do you think? Drop me a line.

Why do Christians support this kind of programming?

We worship God when we realize just how much He loves us; by seeking to understand "how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is" (Ephesians 3:18 NLT).

The width of God's love extends across the entire world and includes all people, everyone He has created: "The Lord is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made" (Psalm 145:17 NIV, emphasis mine). God loves the whole world (John 3:16).

night and although that little angel is hooked up to a respirator, he

Urgent request: Let’s be in special prayer for the Iranian election which happens tomorrow, Friday. It is a pivotal time in the history of that nation when the main challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi, a moderate reformist, has a chance to unseat President Ahmadinejad, a wild and unstable leader who has repeatedly threatened Israel and the West and seems bent on producing and using nuclear weapons. Let’s pray that Iran and its people will make a wise choice, choose a good leader, and that the will of the people will be respected and the polls kept from vote-rigging.

The Call2All congress on world evangelization went extremely well. Over 3000 Christian workers from about 100 nations gathered in Hong Kong, June 1-4. I would estimate that up to half were Chinese, both from Hong Kong and mainland China. They were an especially excited group since for many this was the first international Christian event they had ever attended. A large map of the world’s nations and unreached peoples about the size of two basketball courts enabled participants to walk, visualize and pray on it, making commitments to take the Gospel to those who have never heard. They adopted a number of startling goals such as the planting of over 2 million new churches by 2020. Let’s continue to pray for the achievement of these ambitious goals set in faith. Thanks for also praying for the Habakkuk 2:14 meeting of mission and prayer movement leaders. It too went very well as we achieved a good degree of heart unity through sharing and prayer.

The North Korea Prayer Network writes: “The North Korean state is widely regarded as the worst persecutor of Christians and the worst human rights violating nation in the world today. Many millions have been brutally murdered in a genocide which has continued unrestrained for over half a century. Please join the Church worldwide in united repentance and intercession for the healing and liberation of all north Koreans (permanent closure of all political concentration camps, liberation of all captives, ending of starvation, torture, executions, all cruelty and injustice; complete healing of the land and all of the people).” Let’s join them in praying liberation for this long-suffering land.

Sam whom we prayed for in the last alert reports that he and his team were able to pray in~ Dagestan,~ Kalmykia,~ Ingushetia, Chechnya,~ and other areas in the Caucasus. They were able to deliver a badly fallen pastor and witness his inner healing, and much other ministry helped other believers. He writes that they expect “some real open doors now for the Gospel in those regions and a growing harvest of souls, as there are hardly any Christians” and the land has been bound by extreme witchcraft, atheism, Islam, communism, war, terror, etc.” Pray that their ministry will bear much fruit and that local believers will know His victory and breakthrough in this difficult region.

Timothy, a friend from Nepal asks for prayer about the “Hindu fanatics” who have recently planned to bomb many churches and threatened to kill the Christians. A few days ago the main army leader also published a note threatening~believers to leave Nepal within a month. These fanatical people want to keep Nepal as a Hindu country and are “ready to do anything” towards that end. He says: “We need your strong prayer support.” Let’s pray with the Nepali believers for His protection and favor over the churches and for attitudes to be changed from hostility to support of the Christian movement in the country.
Thanks for uplifting these concerns in your prayer. Let’s agree in faith for His breakthrough in each situation.

Let me thank you for the Shiela Walsh's book, "Let Go"! We all have more to release to Him that hinders our next season of growth. That we might bear much fruit for His Glory and worship Him in Spirit & Truth!
What you didn't know when you heard the Holy Spirit tell you to give me that book was I have tons of books, just not that one!

I had heard Shiela Walsh speak @ a Woman of Faith Conference a few years ago in S.A. TX, (where my mother lives). She gave her life to Christ @ that conference as The Holy Spirit promised me she would do if I took her! That was the only WOF Conference I have ever been to and the only time I ever heard this wise woman speak.

I have been ministering these recent few months to my sister in Dallas. My husband, eldest son & grandson will be traveling with me to Dallas in few weeks for my nieces wedding. Here is where the book you gifted to me comes in. I have intentioned to read it on the trip and gleen whatever is for me, then pass it on to my sister who told me, "I need that book"! My sister, Bonnie, has had severe and crippling neck pain since HS and we have talked about the neck being our "will" which connects the "head" to the "body". She has tried every medical solution to no avail. The "Let Go" book will be a God solution!

Also Sheila Walsh & her family live in Frisco, TX; where my niece's wedding is being held. My sister & her family live in Little Elm...the neighboring town, (a little over 5 miles from Frisco, TX). I will make contact with Sheila Walsh & ask for prayer & to sign the book to my sister, Bonnie. Perhaps they may get acquainted since they live in the same area and probably my sister drives to Frisco several times daily!

Thank you for hearing & obeying the voice of our Lord. He is the reason we live, move & have our being. God Bless your household.

Dear KKIM Family,

As I type this Sharon is leaving for the Hospital to serve many. Let us take time to pray for our Nurses and Doctor's who serve God's people everyday.

I love my Pastor friends! They keep me in line! What a blessing to be surrounded by dozens of Pastors! I am truly blessed! Yesterday in my office Pastor Don Kimbro and Pastor Leonard Navarre were with me. I was talking about, "not doing something stupid each day" and how easy it is to say or do something you will regret. I pray everyday that I not do something stupid!

So this Bible verse is right on...........as all verses are............

I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Cor. 12:9

First we have to have a relationship with Christ and follow Him and not our will, and hear the Whispers of God as we go through our days..........

I talk about my weaknesses with God........He helps me with them.

When we have a relationship with God, He breaks down our pride and selfishness, where we can work on our weaknesses.

The pressure comes off us.........we can live freely in Christ.

It's like planning our lives, our work day and so on............so much pressure.....but read on.........

Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5

Suddenly we may realize that we have been making our plans without Him-----that we have not even considered Him to be a vital, living factor in the planning of our lives. The only thing that will keep us from even the possibility of worrying is to bring God in as the greatest factor in all of our planning.

Is God in on all your planning?

Let us pray..............

Lord, Let us have an attitude shift from resisting trials to accepting them as Your instruments for producing Christ-likeness in our lives. May we all turn our lives over to you. Let Your will be done, not ours. Thank you Lord for all the nurses and Doctor's who aid Your people everyday. May we remember their sacrifices everyday, and not take them for granted. WOW!

AWESOME!

Friday was an AWESOME evening as 6,000 people attended the Jubilee Festival! PRAISE GOD!

Thanks to you all who stopped by the KKIM booth, myself and Frank were glad to see you!

Then on Sunday I traveled to Los Lunas to be with the folks from the Los Lunas Church of God. Pastor Jim Montoya asked me to preach.

I got to meet all the wonderful folks....including 89 year old Lena! Lena is a wonderful women of God. We had a wonderful talk. My grandmother's name is Lena Caraway. Grandma always told me I was going to be a preacher.

This congregation is on FIRE for the LORD! They are praying and working to build a Ministry Center in Los Lunas. This Center would also be a school. A Developer donated land to the Church, prime real estate, valued at over $200,000!!!!

Los Lunas remains a booming city..........growing rapidly, still building!

I so much bathe in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ!

One of the subject's that I spoke on yesterday was suffering........This came a subject of study for me when my Mom and Dad died. Dad died suddenly of a heart attack and Mom died about a year and half later of cancer, both passed on at 64 years of age.

I remember greatly when we were praying for Mom and after she died a man told me, "While we prayed for my Mom and she lived."

That hurt.........Why God? Why not my Mom?

The best writing I have ever found on suffering is what I shared with you a couple of weeks ago from Chuck Swindoll........You can read the whole posting on suffering at www.deweysdailycup.com Thanks to Jannetta for saving all the CUPS!!! We can hurt our fellow Christian Brothers and Sisters without knowing it........when we are praising the healing of a loved one........we must be aware that sitting in the same room is someone who prayed just as hard and did not see their loved one healed here on earth. I found yesterday after delivering my message a beautiful lady came up to me and thanked me for the message as her young son had just died of cancer.

This is a good time to correct faulty thinking. It is not always God's will that you be healed. It is not always the Father's plan to relieve the pressure. Our happiness is not God's chief aim. He doesn't have a wonderful (meaning "comfortable") plan for everybody's life--not from a human perspective. Often His plan is nowhere near wonderful. As with Saul, His answer is not what we prayed and hoped for. But, remembering that He is forming us more and more into the image of His Son, it helps us understand His answer is based on His long-range plan, not our immediate relief.

Thankfully, in the midst of that suffering, He gently whispers, "My grace is sufficient for you." As with Saul, His grace supplies more than e need to endure whatever it is that threatens to undo us. Let me amplify that thought. His grace is more sufficient that your strength. His grace is more sufficient than the advice of any trained counselor or close friend (though God uses both). His grace is sufficient to carry you through whatever your own, unique "thorn" may be. His grace--that's the ticket.

Would you like to know why? "Because power is perfected in weakness." What an amazing statement from the Lord! And all this time we thought power was perfected in success. We've been taught all our lives that it is achievement that makes us strong. No. A thousand times, no! Those things make us proud and self-sufficient and independent. The painful thorns make us weak. But the good news is this: When we are weak, He pours His strength into us, which gives an entirely new perspective on pain and suffering, hardship and pressure. Those stresses and strains drive us to our knees. It's at that point our God comes through.

And so? Let's stop looking for someone or something to blame. Let's cease the incessant building of straw men only to set them on fire so we can say, "Ah ha! That's the reason my misery is so great." Don't go there, my friend. Suffering is not about identifying the cause; it's about focusing on the response. I plead with you--do not miss that! It's about willingly accepting God's plan, no matter what the circumstance. It's about finding contentment in God's grace, regardless.

The words of Chuck Swindoll are so wonderful.

Let us give our lives fully to God.............and realize deep inside, that HIS plan, HIS plan........is the one to follow, and not our's. We first have to give our heart and soul to God and also listen for the whisper's of God as we go through our days here on earth. Our you listening today for God?
God is Cheering for You

If your God is Mighty enough to ignite the sun, could it be that He is mighty enough to light your path?

God is for you. Not “may be,” not “has been,” not “was,” not “would be,” but “God is!” He is for you. Today. At this hour. At this minute. As you read this sentence. No need to wait in line or come back tomorrow. He is with you. He could not be closer than he is at this second. His loyalty won’t increase if you are better nor lessen if you are worse. He is for you.

God is for you. Turn to the sidelines; that’s God cheering your run. Look past the finish line; that’s God applauding your steps. Listen for him in the bleachers, shouting your name. Too tired to continue? He’ll carry you. Too discouraged to fight? He’s picking you up. God is for you.

God is for you. Had he a calendar, your birthday would be circled. If he drove a car, your name would be on his bumper. If there’s a tree in heaven, he’s carved your name in the bark. We know he has a tattoo, and we know what it says. “I have written your name on my hand,” he declares (Isa. 49:16).

Let us pray...........

Oh Lord, We pray that we turn our lives over to You fully!!! We pray for Your will to be done in our lives. We pray that we will be better listeners of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

We are living in the most selfish, ego driven America Society ever........EGO stands for edging GOD out.........

But what do we do?..........GIVE UP?, as some of my Christian friends have told me........is it worth the fight? We are told by our Lord to be the salt and light of the world and to occupy until the Lord comes.

We must not give up.......We need to continue to spread the good news.

There was plenty of good news at the Jubilee Festival Friday night! WOW! Over 6,000 people! No Secular news coverage..........no newspaper or tv coverage! Please don't take the POWER of the Christian media for granted............

We saw thousands of people come to Balloon Fiesta Park to rejoice in their freedom in Christ.
